Zeya Wilos was born a member of the Baci Nation, a large group of nomadic Force-users that attempted to overthrow the New Republic in 25 ABY. She was a member of Clan Wilos, and groomed from infancy to help lead the Nation, along with her cousin Cale Wilos. In 20 ABY, the reigning Baci Premier died and his son Cale took the throne. He appointed Zeya as his second in command, making her the next in the line of succession. She earned a reputation as a ruthless and unsympathetic ruler, though affective, and she was usually admired for it among her own. Her competency saved the Premier on several occasions, and her counsel was more valuable to him than all others.

Her place of influence grew to its peak in 25 ABY after staging a brilliant coup against her cousin and best friend, and then taking his place as a regent Premier for his unwilling consort, Leia Organa Solo. After his orchestrated death at Leia’s hands, Zeya struck a bargain with her one time enemy that would benefit the Baci, the New Republic, and Zeya herself.

Zeya spent the next few years raising Cale’s son and heir, and preparing him to some day become Premier as well. She would raise him to think Leia Solo was his mother—a necessary part of the coup—even though Zeya had his true mother executed after his birth.

Zeya was raised from birth in a nursery-like atmosphere with her cousin Cale, who became her playmate, rival, and friend. As the firstborn child of the Premier's sister, Zeya was afforded the best of education and comforts. She was trained to be a calculating thinker, a cunning warrior, and an efficient leader.

The young girl was also well taught in the arts of a Baci Wizard, and became a proficient Force user. Her innate talent was greater than that of her protégé Cale, but as the son of the Premier he was automatically first in line to the throne.

Zeya never showed signs of jealousy, however, and maintained that she had no desire to grapple with the reigns of control. Her relationship with the future Premier was close up until the last year of his life, and her word passed his. The political strength he gained from her support helped Cale take control easily after his father's death, avoiding the chaos and bickering that often ensued among the volatile Baci culture.

Her inflexible nature sometimes led Zeya to trouble with her superiors, but after being named Second in the Nation it brought her much success. Among a people so prone to deceit and violence, her brutality was necessary to keep the soldiers under her in line.

She was known as a staunch and stalwart champion for her clan, and never failed to put its success above her own. Her overriding goal for most of her life was to make sure that House Wilos kept its supremacy among the clans. She eventually put its welfare even above her love and loyalty to Cale, and betrayed him to keep him from actions she thought would destroy them all.

Zeya wasn't a particularly moral person other than that allegiance. Her sympathies were few, and she even instigated the rape of the captured Leia Organa Solo by Cale so that he could sire an heir with her, and so maintain the integrity of their line by not mixing with other clans. She also hoped to garner in the child a piece of the deep Force connection from Leia's Skywalker bloodline.

Though the idea to invade the New Republic was originally Cale's, Zeya was at first a supporter. But the longer the campaign continued, the more hesitant Zeya became. After their hopes for an heir with Leia were dashed after she escaped, and then miscarried, she openly opposed further action. Cale persisted in his designs despite her, and his erratic and irrational actions frustrated the shrewd woman.

Left without options, Zeya began to plan Cale's demise. She brought him another woman to sire a child with, which was also successful. She then arranged for him to duel Jedi Master Luke Skywalker for the fate of the warring galaxy. At the last instant Skywalker traded positions with his twin sister Leia, and it was she who killed the Premier.

Seizing the opportunity, Zeya covered up Leia's miscarriage and convinced Leia to claim Cale's new child as her own. As the child's guardian, Leia became Premier and ended the war with the New Republic. Zeya ruled as a steward then after, and brought the Baci to a new era of peace and prosperity.
