Welcome, VolteMetalic, to Star Wars Fanon, the Star Wars wiki of fan invention!

As a community, we strive to maintain a fun and creative atmosphere for all users while also maintaining a sense of encyclopedic quality that we can show off and be proud of. The best way to help with that is for you, our newest valued user, to begin creatively expressing yourself with your article writing, and to get involved with the community! Need some help with your writing? We're here to offer that help in the Writing Center! The Senate Hall can also be used for asking about anything relating to Star Wars Fanon, including help in following our policies.

You're probably saying, "How can I get involved?" There are a number of ways that you can do that, which are all listed below, so we encourage you to check those out! Very importantly, there are also a number of policies that you will need to be cognizant of and agree to follow so you can have the best time possible, and to help make our great wiki even greater!

Star Wars Fanon is not about administrators, nor is it about the people who have been given accolades or awards. This wiki is about you, the community member and the valued writer. So long as a sense of encyclopedic standard is maintained, this wiki will continue to be the absolute best it can be, especially once you get involved in our community!

Joining the communityEdit

Hey VolteMetalic! Sorry if this added message seems a bit overwhelming after the huge welcome message you just received, but what I wanted to say is important enough to re-emphasize it here. I wanted to make sure you were as aware as possible of the fantastic community we have here on the wiki. There is literally so much to do beyond just working on your own articles. I definitely don't want to sound like I'm suggesting you shouldn't work on your own articles, but there's a larger community out there too and we'd all love for you to get involved! If you have any questions about the community, which I strongly encourage you to participate in, don't hesitate to ask me. Thanks, and once again welcome to Star Wars Fanon! – -- Brandon Rhea (Talk) 23:13, July 2, 2010

Re: Your question Edit

Hi. Do you mean articles here on Star Wars Fanon? If so, we don't have any of those, namely because they're all canon. You can link to them on Wookieepedia, though, by typing page name goes here, which will produce a link to Wookieepedia. Or, you can create your own versions, such as Great Galactic War (VolteMetalic), and include fanon information in those. - Brandon Rhea Alliance Starbird (talk) 00:34, July 3, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Question Edit

Hey Volte, how's it going? I hope you're enjoying your time here so far. Before I answer your question, I just wanted to let you know that you only need 17 more edits to articles (not 17 articles, but 17 edits to articles) and you'll be able to vote on things like the ongoing short story contest that ends on July 15th, and on things like good article nominations, featured article nominations, and featured work nominations, among a lot of other things. I hope you consider getting involved as a full-fledged member of our community once you have those 100 article edits. =)

Now that I've rambled on, I'll actually answer your question. Tongue To italicize ship names, you'd put the italics code outside of the link box. For example, say your article was titled "Avenger" and you wanted to link to that. You'd use Avenger as the code, and that will italicize the name. You can also highlight the entire box, brackets and all, and then click the "I" button in the page editor. I hope that helps. Feel free to let me know if you have anymore questions! - Brandon Rhea Alliance Starbird (talk) 01:47, July 10, 2010 (UTC)

No no, don't get me wrong. I definitely wasn't suggesting to go and vote on something without reading it, especially not article nominations (voting for a featured article nomination, for example, without reading it can lower the quality of the collective FAs if everyone does that). I just wanted to let you know that you're just about at the point where you're entitled to vote. I'm glad you're enjoying your stay, though.
Anyway, to do that type of italicization, you basically have to type the name twice within the brackets. It'd look like this: Imperial-class Star Destroyer. The first half is the actual link, and the second half is what you basically rename it to just for that link. You can do that for anything. For example, if I wanted to link to Luke Skywalker, I could put Master Skywalker to produce Master Skywalker—which takes you to Luke Skywalker.
To get the title to be like that, you'd use the Title template. For the example you provided, you would add Imperial-class Star Destroyer to the very top of the article in the editing box, and then that would italicize the word in the title.
Hope that answers your question! - Brandon Rhea Alliance Starbird (talk) 21:07, July 10, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Comic request Edit

Hi Volte! The person who helps as my editor in all my work, including The Tragedy (though it's actually a short story, not a comic), is Solus. You would have to ask her if she'd be willing to help. Good luck with your comic! - Brandon Rhea Alliance Starbird (talk) 22:23, July 18, 2010 (UTC)

 • Thanks for the compliment, and I hope your story/comic turns out well. Just curious, since you mentioned The Tragedy, did you get a chance to read it? - Brandon Rhea Alliance Starbird (talk) 22:38, July 18, 2010 (UTC)

I'm really glad you liked it! I had a hard time spelling Plagueis too after Revenge of the Sith came out. The easiest way to remember is if you can remember how to spell "Plague," just add "is" to the end of it and you've got it. As for his friend, Ussej Padric Bac is the Shaman of the Whills. That's mostly explained in the prologue for Star Wars: Episode I - The Chosen One, the novel that The Tragedy is basically a prologue to. As the Shaman of the Whills, Ussej can use something called the time stream to move from Ashlan Four into historical events, either in the past, present, or future (though he only does it for the present, as in his present throughout the series and not our 2010 present). This lets him appear where he wants to appear. Hope that helps clarify it. =) - Brandon Rhea Alliance Starbird (talk) 00:09, July 19, 2010 (UTC)

How do you like the article Darth Organius? --Larry Young (Talk) 22:36, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Wikia thing Edit

I'm not entirely sure what you mean. If you're just asking where the Wikia servers are, then there are a number of Wikia servers and backup servers—namely California, Iowa, and Poland—across the world. - Brandon Rhea Alliance Starbird (talk) 02:28, July 27, 2010 (UTC)

 • Technically, the community owns a wiki, due to the CC-BY-SA license that almost all wikis are licensed under, and only Wikia can host Wikia wikis. There is no sole owner of a wiki or its content. - Brandon Rhea Alliance Starbird (talk) 22:30, July 27, 2010 (UTC)

Hi. I'm not sure what you were replying to when you just said "I see." =) - Brandon Rhea Alliance Starbird (talk) 14:30, August 6, 2010 (UTC)

Special invitation for VolteMetalic!Edit

Hey, you! Yes, you!

YodaClaus-SWAJ8

You're cordially invited to the 7th Annual Wiki Awards on the Star Wars Fanon Wiki! Come nominate, procrastinate, marinate, and pontificate over the best and brightest of the community's offerings with us! Sample the choicest works with your critical eye (monocle sold separately) and submit your own works for a chance to be enshrined in the annals of Star Wars Fanon history. You might write whatever you want to because it's fun, but getting shiny awards and bragging rights doesn't hurt either, right? We didn't think so.

Don't force yourself into exile, or look for alternative activities this winter. Whether your work is one of the myriad incarnations of Revan, a Sith Lord with a hard-to-pronounce name, or some random teenager's pet pittin, you'll find an entry where it belongs. (Editor's note: "Best Incarnation of Revan" and "Best Hard-To-Pronounce-Sith" did not make the categories list this year.) It's time to break out the ancient Sith armor and capes, the dress uniforms for every soldier, and something to catch the eye for every pretty lass. And did I mention our sponsors include Sarth's Darths, provider of the finest black capes in the galaxy? Join our star-crossed, er…star-studded collection of Star Wars Fanon administrators including Brandon Rhea, Goodwood, and Trak Nar as we celebrate the individualism and creativity on this wiki. And if you thought this announcement was cheesy, you ain't seen nothing yet. (Consider this a warning to those, like Fiolli, who are lactose intolerant.)

So fire up the hyperdrive, hope it doesn't catapult you a few millennia forwards or backwards in time, and head on over to the Seventh Wiki Awards. We'd love for you to nominate deserving works (including yours!) and help us choose the best entries for this year! We can't pick between all the entries without you! And if you see any other special snowflakes who need invited to the extravaganza, just slap this message on their talk page to spread some holiday cheer… or something.

So from two folks who've contributed far more at Wookieepedia than here, who habitually bring you either terrible puns or delicious pasta, please accept our sincerest invitation to the Seventh Wiki Awards. And remember, we're doing this all for the community, because that's what really matters on this wiki. Right? Yeah…
