Re: Image request
Edit
What is it about image uploading that you're having a problem with? - Brandon Rhea
(talk) 19:09, November 29, 2009 (UTC)
To be honest I'm not entirely sure what I've done wrong. I've tried to follow the steps on Darthpedia but I just can't do it. I think it might have something to do with where to send the image and possibly the sourcing. How can you tell if a source is an original source or not? But I can't even get the image in the first place and I must say I'm getting very annoyed about it. Why can't you just paste an image onto this site? That would be a hundred times easier.--Powerstaark (Talk) 19:15, November 29, 2009 (UTC)
- Paste as in hotlink? Most people who host images don't appreciate hotlinking, and even then you wouldn't be able to resize the image. Can you take me through step by step how you've tried to upload an image? It'll help me to help you. As for the image you requested, I'd rather not upload that. While using that image could be considered fair use, I don't like uploading other people's work without their express permission. - Brandon Rhea
(talk) 19:17, November 29, 2009 (UTC)
I've got the first three steps okay, I think. Getting to the upload page is easy, and they provide you with a summary. So far so good.
After that I put www.hennesseyproject.com/starwars/Twi%27lek_jpg in the source filename box. When I click off the source filename box it gives me Twi%27lek_jpg in the destination filename box.
I put www.hennesseyproject.com/starwars/ in the source part of the summary box and then I put fairuse in the licencing part of the summary box.
Then in the licencing box underneath I put in Copyrighted, fair use.
Then I pressed the browse button and nothing happened.
Out of watch this file and ignore any warnings I chose Watch this file.
Then I pressed the upload file button and again nothing happened.--Powerstaark (Talk) 19:37, November 29, 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, I see where your issue is. You're trying to upload images directly from other websites. You can't do that. You have to save the image to your computer and then upload it from your computer. That's what the "Browse" button is for. You click that and then find where you saved your image. Then you fill out the summary information and click the "Upload" button. - Brandon Rhea
(talk) 19:44, November 29, 2009 (UTC)
Do you mean I need to put the image on word and upload it from there?--Powerstaark (Talk) 19:46, November 29, 2009 (UTC)
- No, you save the image directly to your computer. When you see an image you want, right click on it, click "Save Image As," and then save it where you want on your computer. - Brandon Rhea
(talk) 19:49, November 29, 2009 (UTC)
I almost managed it but then it said "The filename "Twi%27lek_jedi_green.jpg" contains characters that are not allowed in page titles. Please rename the file and try uploading it again." What filename is allowed and does it go in the Source filename or the Destination filename? Thank you for all you're help but I've still got a little further to go.--Powerstaark (Talk) 20:12, November 29, 2009 (UTC)
- Put TwilekJediGreen.jpg as the destination file name. Try it exactly like that. Just out of curiosity as well, are you new to using computers? - Brandon Rhea
(talk) 20:21, November 29, 2009 (UTC)
No I'm not new to using computers but I am new to uploading images on computers. I have one more question; how do I get the picture onto Carmen Conrose's page and how do I make sure I've put the picture in the right place?--Powerstaark (Talk) 20:28, November 29, 2009 (UTC)
- Great job! You successfully uploaded the image! As for putting it into the right place, that depends where you want it. If you want it in an infobox, you'd put [[File:TwilekJediGreen.jpg|250px]] next to "image=" in the infobox. If you just want it to be the main picture without an infobox, put [[File:TwilekJediGreen.jpg|thumb|200px|right]] just above the article's introduction. - Brandon Rhea

Edit
An IP has recently edited your Carmen Conrose article; as a precaution in case it's not you, I rollbacked it. If it is, please do inform us so we know for future reference. :) --Darth tom (Message me) (Contributions) 17:58, November 30, 2009 (UTC)
It's usually, if not always me who Carmen Conrose's page; sometimes I forget to login. The image has been taken off. That image was allowed wasn't it?--Powerstaark (Talk) 18:06, November 30, 2009 (UTC)
Guy's I made a mistake while trying to upload in image. Is it possible to delete pages? If it is I want to get rid of page with a too small image of Sora Bulq on it. I tried to fix it but I don't know how. And now I can't even find the page! Please don't throw me off the site! --Powerstaark (Talk) 18:13, December 1, 2009 (UTC)
- I put a {{delete}} template on the image for the time being, one of the admins will see it and take care of it. Though, if the image is just too small, then click on the "Upload a new version" link and upload a larger image. Users can't delete pages, though they can request deletions from admins.
- Though, do you mean you wanna delete the article that you put the image in? Trak Nar Ramble on 18:26, December 1, 2009 (UTC)
I don't want anyone to delete my Sora Bulq article. --Powerstaark (Talk) 16:58, December 2, 2009 (UTC)
Re: Images
Edit
Well that's really very simple. You choose a character infobox that you want to use, copy and paste the template that you can find there into your article, and then fill out all of the information in the appropriate sections. - Brandon Rhea
(talk) 17:25, December 2, 2009 (UTC)
Where do you find the character infobox template? --Powerstaark (Talk) 18:04, December 2, 2009 (UTC)
- Here. - Brandon Rhea
(talk) 18:16, December 2, 2009 (UTC)
I went to the infobox templates and tried to get an infobox but couldn't. I managed to sort out another picture in the article but I still don't know how to do the infobox.--Powerstaark (Talk) 19:19, December 2, 2009 (UTC)
- Did you hold the left clicker down, drag it over the "usage" section, and then right click and select copy? That would automatically copy it for you and then all you need to do is paste it in your article.-Chosen OneSo the Prophecy says... 20:06, December 2, 2009 (UTC)
I fixed it for you. Study how it is set up, and you should figure out how to do it.-Chosen OneSo the Prophecy says... 20:15, December 2, 2009 (UTC)
- No problem, just remember to always take the infobox from the source, never copy it from another article. The source infobox is more accurate.-Chosen OneSo the Prophecy says... 20:19, December 2, 2009 (UTC)
Only if the other person didn't create the images or make significant modifications to it. If they did create it or significantly modify it, you need to ask permission. Otherwise you're free to use them. - Brandon Rhea

Re: Article creation limits?
Edit
Absolutely not. Make as many as you want! =) - Brandon Rhea
(talk) 21:50, December 5, 2009 (UTC)
- Also, you don't need to ask for anyone's permission to add your content to Jedi Guardian. As the template at the top says, it's a free-add article. You're free to add whatever you want. Just please don't remove any of the preexisting content, as there's no reason to do that. - Brandon Rhea
(talk) 21:56, December 5, 2009 (UTC)
That's a good possibility too. You could call it Jedi Guardian (Powerstaark) and it'd be yours alone to edit. - Brandon Rhea

Catagories
Edit
Have you tried cateragorizing your articles? Plus whats the name of the fanfic that they appear on? Drsdino (Talk) 00:14, December 15, 2009 (UTC)
- The fanfic they appear on is one I've written on Word and I put it on fanfictionnet but then I decided to take it off. However I've not given up on it; the main reason I took it off is because the Clone Wars series is a vital part of the fanfic but since the series is only on its second season I decided to abandon it for the time being. If you must know the name of the fic it is called "Bonds of the Force" but I might change the title if I come up with a better one.--Powerstaark (Talk) 11:16, December 15, 2009 (UTC)
- Yes I have cateragorized some of my articles but the trouble is it's difficult to find them in those categories because of all the other articles in there. I was considering making a category dedicated to Powerstaark, if that's alright. If I do make that category I just hope I don't make a mess of it because I've never made a category before.--Powerstaark (Talk) 11:16, December 15, 2009 (UTC)
- That would be alright, nearly everyone who regularly creats new articles on this site make catagories for their personaly made articles. —Unsigned comment by Drsdino (talk • contribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Final warning: article guidelines
Edit
Hi Powerstaark. I'd like to remind you, for the final time, to please categorize your articles, per the Manual of Style. Additionally, please be sure to follow the MOS in regards to its guidelines on point of view, and also please do not use contractions (please use things like "did not" instead of "didn't") in your articles. Continuing to ignore these instructions can result in administrative action. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. Thank you. - Brandon Rhea
(talk) 18:07, April 19, 2010 (UTC)
- It's OK, please just don't keep forgetting. Contractions aren't to be used in articles because they're not the formal way of writing an encyclopedic entry. While Star Wars Fanon isn't technically an encyclopedia, we do try to enforce encyclopedic standards the best we can. So, "didn't" would be a contraction. Instead of using that, you would use "did not" in its place. =) - Brandon Rhea

Name of the story
Edit
I'm very interested in other peoples stories and I can't find the name of your story. So a simple question: what's the name of your story?--Station7 (Talk) 20:57, May 5, 2010 (UTC)
- My story is currently known as "Bonds of the Force" and used to be known as "Jedi Bonds". I'm nowhere near finished with the story and although I've got the general plot in mind I'm not quite as eager to write it as I used to be, as my passion for Star Wars isn't quite as strong as it once was. However I still do enjoy Star Wars and I haven't given up on the story or on my articles on this site; I've just been focusing on other things recently, many related to the Avatar movie.--Powerstaark (Talk) 17:32, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
- Another reason Bonds of the Force is not yet ready is because a large chunk of it depends on the Clone Wars series which probably has about two or three more seasons to go. At the moment, I'm planning to have it on this site and fanfictionnet (there's nothing wrong with having it on two sites at once, is there?) but I don't feel ready to put it on yet, and I don't think I will feel ready for a long time. Thank's for showing an interest but I suggest you don't expect to be reading it any time soon. In fact I'm not even sure if I'm going to put the actual story on the internet at all; basically I'm trying to write a whole lifetime which would take an extraordinary amount of time and dedication. I have plenty of time on my hands but I fear that I may not possess the dedication necessary to complete the story. I'm afraid that you'll just have to make do with my articles, at least for now and possibly permanently. Sorry.--Powerstaark (Talk) 17:32, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the info Powerstaark.--Station7 (Talk) 10:47, May 9, 2010 (UTC)
Also because of that your "book" hasn't been showing yet is already awesome to see that your articles are all named Powerstaark, that makes the articles even beter to look at.--Station7 (Talk) 20:36, May 13, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, Powerstaark:
I hope you are having a splendid day. I'm sorry to bother you with this, but if you get a chance, I was hoping you'd take a look at the new CT about coining a term for our community to help build it. As someone who has been very active on SWF, your input is much welcome. Have a great day!

Community discussion
Edit
Hi. Because you’re an active Fanoneer in our writing community with the ability to vote in community discussions, I wanted to let you know about a current proposal to adopt definitions for fanon and fan fiction. Normally I wouldn't take to talk pages to talk about community discussions like this, since I don't want to seem like I'm spamming your talk page, but since you're an active writer here and this proposal somewhat deals with writing on the wiki (definitional, that is—your writing won't actually be affected), it's important that you know about the proposal so you know that you can vote in this (as well as any other discussions, GANs, FANs, QOTWs, etc). Hope to see your thoughts!

Hello. The image in question was deleted because you did not provide a source for it. Please feel free to re-upload the image, with a proper source/description, at any time and then to add it back into your article. GoodwoodDebating Society10,967 Edits 00:34, October 28, 2010 (UTC)
- Close, but not quite there. You need to give an original URL for that lightsaber image, not just a site name.
GoodwoodDebating Society10,967 Edits 07:28, October 28, 2010 (UTC)
- Nope. It needs the precise URL of the page where it was uploaded to. Just copy/paste the URL and stick it into the source tab like this: [http://www.example.com]. GoodwoodDebating Society10,967 Edits 07:36, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

Siri Tachi
Edit
Hey this is Sports Guide using my backup wiki account this is actually Fennecfox13 I've seen alot of links to Siri Tachi in your articles so I thought I would be nice and add Siri Tachi (Powerstaark).
Thank you but I have a reason for not adding Siri. Her article on Wookiepedia is almost perfect for the continuity of my story since Tom didn't meet Obi-Wan until after Siri died. A slight continuity error is the date of Siri's death but that's a small error and personally I'm willing to overlook it. However if you wish to add an article about Siri Tachi then that's fine with me; I have no right to try and stop you.--Powerstaark (Talk) 21:16, September 12, 2011 (UTC)

7WA Nomination
Edit
Hi, Powerstaark. I wanted you to know that I nominated Carmen Conrose at the 7WA for best movie-era and female character categories. You are welcome to remove the nominations, if you prefer, but I think the community should have a look at them! If you have any others that you feel are good, like may be Tom Norton, then please by all means nominate them! We'd love to see more of your work! — Fiolli 20:55, January 14, 2012 (UTC)
- Feel free to add characters/places/droids/vehicles/etc. that appear in canon, as long as you've created a fanon element of your own in there! The content policy forbids total canon articles, but if you've created your own spin or added more history, then go for it! The character doesn't need to be alive, either. — Fiolli 21:05, January 14, 2012 (UTC)

Help with the Nolan Hawke page
Edit
Hey! If you remember me I'm the creator of the Nolan Hawke page on this site. I was wondering if you would be interested in helping me with the character. I know you said you wanted to keep your OC's in their own continuity. All I'm asking is that you help me come up with stories for him to add on the page. You have permission to edit it if you wish. The only rule is that I have final creative say since he's my character. Also feel free to alter any canon errors that I make. I want this character to fit into canon as much as possible (of course some exceptions will have to be made). I would really really appreciate it if you could help me out with this page. You're clearly a good writer and a good storyteller and I would love to have the chance to collaborate with you. JackfieldsA113 (Talk) 20:15, February 25, 2013 (UTC)
