Welcome, Near-sighted Jedi, to Star Wars Fanon, the Star Wars wiki of fan invention!

As a community, we strive to maintain a fun and creative atmosphere for all users while also maintaining a sense of encyclopedic quality that we can show off and be proud of. The best way to help with that is for you, our newest valued user, to begin creatively expressing yourself with your article writing, and to get involved with the community! Need some help with your writing? We're here to offer that help in the Writing Center! Want to work with others? Join a FanonProject! The Senate Hall can also be used for asking about anything relating to Star Wars Fanon, including help in following our policies.

You're probably saying, "How can I get involved?" There are a number of ways that you can do that, which are all listed below, so we encourage you to check those out! Very importantly, there are also a number of policies that you will need to be cognizant of and agree to follow so you can have the best time possible, and to help make our great wiki even greater!

Star Wars Fanon is not about administrators, nor is it about the people who have been given accolades or awards. This wiki is about you, the community member and the valued writer. So long as a sense of encyclopedic standard is maintained, this wiki will continue to be the absolute best it can be, especially once you get involved in our community!

Joining the communityEdit

Hey, Near-sighted Jedi! Sorry if this added message seems a bit overwhelming after the huge welcome message you just received, but what I wanted to say is important enough to re-emphasize it here. I wanted to make sure you were as aware as possible of the fantastic community we have here on the wiki. There is literally so much to do beyond just working on your own articles. I definitely don't want to sound like I'm suggesting you shouldn't work on your own articles, but there's a larger community out there too and we'd all love for you to get involved! If you have any questions about the community, which I strongly encourage you to participate in, don't hesitate to ask me. Thanks, and once again welcome to Star Wars Fanon! – Brandon Rhea Alliance Starbird (talk) 23:09, August 15, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks Edit

Thanks. I'm not exactly savvy with the inner workings of wikis, but I know a little. Mainly I made an account because I wanted to try and make a page for one of my RP characters, if that's allowed. If not its fine with me. Unsigned comment by Near-sighted Jedi (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

  • That's absolutely allowed! Feel free to make articles for any of your characters. If you haven't already, you can take a look at guides such as the Manual of Style and Layout Guide for help. For interactive help, feel free to let me know if you have any questions. You can also ask guideline related questions in the Senate Hall and, if you'd like, article writing related questions in the writing tips forum. Above all, just have a good time! - Brandon Rhea Alliance Starbird (talk) 23:18, August 15, 2010 (UTC)

Image sourcing Edit

As per our image policy, I have sourced the following images for you using the {{Information}} template and applied a licensing template:

Please remember to source future image uploads with the aforementioned {{Information}} template.

Also, the following images, as they were duplicates, had been deleted:

If you wish to change the image, by cropping or such, then upload a new version over the existing image. Please do not upload multiple versions of one image under several filenames. Thank you for your cooperation. Trak Nar Ramble on 03:52, September 17, 2010 (UTC)

I would have deleted them if I'd known how. I didn't see any buttons that said 'delete.' Near-sighted Jedi (Talk) 06:41, September 21, 2010 (UTC)

  • Only administrators can delete images and pages and such. Though, if you do need something deleted, you can tag it with a {{delete|Author request}} template and an admin will delete it. Trak Nar Ramble on 06:53, September 21, 2010 (UTC)

Re: CarnivonEdit

First off, you might want to consider calming down a tad; you can still get what you put in through the history. Second, it's fairly difficult to tell, at least from where I'm sitting, that you'd done this "for a friend." It looked like you were "stealing" fanon, which is a no-no here (see this page for clarification and useful links). If you were in fact doing this for the original author via some prearranged editing task, then please accept my apologies. GoodwoodDebating Society12,010 Edits 23:32, September 21, 2010 (UTC)

Ah, I see. Wasn't trying to sound to mad, but I worked pretty hard on fixing the page up, and coming back to find it mangled lit the fuse. I had no idea there was already a species called Carnivons. I guess Darksider didn't know that either. Hopefully I can fix the page. Near-sighted Jedi (Talk) 23:36, September 21, 2010 (UTC)

  • I suggest you work that out with him. Generally-speaking, when it comes to editing other users' fanon or fan fiction articles, the most we can/should do is fix grammar, spelling, and other related issues, as well as helping to bring wayward articles more into line with the Manual of Style and/or the Layout Guide. GoodwoodDebating Society12,010 Edits 23:39, September 21, 2010 (UTC)

That's pretty much what I had done: fixed the grammar and spelling and such things for her. She'd never made an article before. Near-sighted Jedi (Talk) 23:44, September 21, 2010 (UTC)

User page Edit

Am I not allowed to put anything on my user page? Looks like everyone else can. What's a Wanted Page anyway? I looked at it and it doesn't seem to have anything to do with a user page. Near-sighted Jedi (Talk) 00:29, September 22, 2010 (UTC)
