[edit] Padmé

I saw your message on Brandon Rhea's talk page, and I would just like to let you know that you still can create a "Padmé Naberrie" of your own. The page Padmé Naberrie will simply become a disambiguation page and Brandon's will be moved to the title "Padmé Naberrie (ASWS)" (since it is part of the Alternative Star Wars Saga) and yours will be under the title "Padmé Naberrie (Katana Geldar)" or whatever name you would like for it instead. What I mean is that, for example, I could have mine be "Padmé Naberrie (Squishy Vic)" representing my user name, or "Padmé Naberrie (SVS)", which represents my Squishy Vic Series instead. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know. You may create the article at anytime (as long as you put your name or nick or whatever will distinguish it in the title in parenthesis) and once you do that, the disambiguation page will be made. See you around! --Victor (talk) 16:40, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Indeed, what Vic said. I just moved mine to Padmé Naberrie (ASWS) and you can create yours at Padmé Naberrie (Katana Geldar) or something else like that. We can then make Padmé Naberrie a disambiguation page. Didn't mean to steal your march. File:Tongue.gif - President Brandon Rhea (Pressroom) (Record) 17:03, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! In my story, Padme hasn't been introduced yet (only mentioned), but she'll be introduced within the next two or three chapters. I look forward to hearing from you, and I'll take a look at yours as well as soon as I have the time. - President Brandon Rhea (Pressroom) (Record) 15:34, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Categorization

Please be sure to categorize The Seventh Star (novel) - Chapter 1. In the future, just keep in mind that even chapters need to be categorized under Category:Fan-fiction. Thanks. File:Smile.gif - President Brandon Rhea (Pressroom) (Record) 00:42, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Read your Verge Article

read your article on Verge, also I take it you've given up on star wars? Anyways you mentioned her actions. I think they do fit in with her views quite well.

The means: Embrace of Pain

The End: Jacen learned to no longer fear pain.

When you think about it, what was wrong with the Embrace? Did it threaten Jacen’s life? No. Was there permanent psychological damage? No. The possibility may have been there, but only if the lesson was done wrong. Taking the force away from Jacen: Nothing cruel, the lesson was to teach Jacen that he can’t save everyone. If she had let him keep the force yes Jacen could have saved more lives but considering every one of those lives would have been doomed had she not kidnapped Jacen isn’t it expectable that some die. Though this statement seems like more of a rationalization than anything else. But what my point is, is that what she did when you look at it, was not cruel, she never killed when it was not needed, she never put Jacen through long term trauma (at the end was there trauma?). Though did the Jedi of the old really care about emotions when you think about it, after all Obi Wan did tell Luke to kill his own father.

I’m still in the middle of traitor actually (its an amazing book by the way by far the best). I was reading it to get my star wars fix while waiting for revelations, then revelations came in and I had a conflict and I couldn’t get back into traitor (I know it’s a sin). I was right after the scene where Jacen is talking to a hallucination of Anakin. Otherwise I would probably have more to say of her methods. (I know you probably want to shoot me for this sin) I have read the unifying force though! (back in 8th grade and read a beef of it from 1 am-6am so you can imagine how horrid my recollection must be)

As for her views on the dark side, just go with Stover’s views of the dark side. What did Jacen do while on the ‘red current’. Yes Verge did not directly say anything but what if she gave the force back to him at that given time so that he would understand the ‘raw’ force

It’s actually funny in a sad way what happened. Legacy of the Force illustrates Verge’s views on the dark side (it was really “we can do Vader sooooo much better”) and yet its said to be her philosophy. Jacen’s actions are without intuition from the force, he fears pain (thus the insanity demonstrated in dark nest and Legacy of The Force, his actions were based out of a fear of loss). He does things for noble means (supposedly) with horrific actions. It’s all about as contradictory as how Palleon views Jacen in Legacy as opposed to NJO. Very funny by the way your hopes Legacy comics would go against the Lumiya statements. Personally I’m not sure if I can go on reading star wars either mainly because of that comic series, I am biased against it I will admit but I mean for God's sake first “we can do vader better” now “we can totally do the sith war better” I mean can we just move past Jedi vs. Sith and do something new again?

Anyways I hope this didn’t waste your time. Unsigned comment by Onthelongview (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Bravo! I have been saying similar things about Vergere for some time, albeit not with your eloquence. Your essay points out only too clearly how one character can be/is frequently changed to meet the publishing needs of the franchise. My focus has, perhaps foolishly, been focused on a philosophical defense rather than a character analysis. I first encountered these philosophies, you see, not in SW but in my philosophy courses. They primarily emerge from Nietzsche and the American Transcendentalists (Emerson, Thoreau et al). A lot of the ideas made sense in my life, and so I adopted them as a personal philosophy, which I think is one reason I and so many other fans defend them so hotly. My only point would be to contest the issue of Vergere in Destiny’s Way. I agree that the overarching message is that how one feels is irrelevant compared to the weight of one’s actions; but what Destiny’s Vergere tells us is that there are two sorts of actions, reactions and choices (Also, people who have read The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People will recognize some of this). Either one may have equal moral weight, however, to advance our goals (be they peace, domination, a tuna club with chips…) it is most effective to choose, and that can only be accomplished from a platform of knowledge, both about the self and the other. Put another way, if one understands themselves and the bases for their emotions, they can still choose wrongly; however if one does not know these things it becomes often impossible to choose correctly: self-ignorance and self-deception are bedmates that make of any person less than they could be. It does not change the nature of their actions, it merely allows those actions to have a focus. EDIT: Of course, none of this is indicated by the text, and I have to beleive your original conclusion a correct one. It's merely what I take from it I suppose. [edit] Congratulations

Congratulations, you are now a part of the Featured Works review broad. Have fun reviewing. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 19:24, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

  • Let me echo my congratulations as well. I've set up the SWF:FW and SWF:FWN pages, as well as a preliminary review board page. You and the other review board members (so far, just Kathkira) can come up with a name for your organization and an preferred image at your leisure, and I'll do the legwork of moving it to a proper page. Until then, you can discuss those matters on the talk page for the scratchpad; I'll do the legwork to bring the actual page online. Let me know if there's anything else you would like done with the initial setup for the featured works system, and I'll make the change. I would strongly recommend adding the featured works page and nominations page to your watchlist and check it every time you log on for new/updated nominations. Also, if you have any questions with regards to FW, let me know—I'm sort of unofficially setting up the system for the time being. Once again, congratulations. [edit] Notice

I don't know if you've noticed...but User: Satipo has edited on your fanfic story The Phantom Menace (AU) in Chapter 15 - third section down. I didn't know if you allowed this or not. I'm going on the assumption you didn't since he has edited my fanon as well, but I wanted to double check. He has also edited your dramatis personae in Revenge of the Sith (AU), linking Lushros Dofine to one of Troyb's articles. Just wanted you to know. -- Tesh 162 17:04, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Featured Works

Hey Katana. Unless I'm missing something, you can actually nominate your own work for FW status. You just can't vote on anything you nominate. You would be able to vote for your own novel, though, assuming someone else nominated it for you. The way the rules are laid out, you simply can't vote on something you nominate (like I can't vote on the Force Exile nomination, despite the fact that I didn't write it). - Brandon Rhea (talk) (contribs) 02:29, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

  • So long as the other two archivists vote, your vote wouldn't be required. - Brandon Rhea (talk) (contribs) 02:36, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
    • Pretty much what Brandon said. ;) The rules were specifically laid out so that it'd be possible for the Archivists to nominate stuff, as the requirements are at least 2/3 votes from the Archivists, not unanimous approval. Atarumaster88 (Talk page) 19:23, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
      • Also, regarding your earlier comments, it is possible for Archivists to hold a vote to remove a FW nomination which they believe is of sufficiently low caliber to merit closing the nomination process as a failed nom. Simply set up a new section on the nom page in question like this:
===Remove nomination (Archivist vote only)===
#Your signature and date

If there's a 2/0 or 3/0 vote of Archivists in favor of closing the nom, it'll be archived. Cheers. Atarumaster88 (Talk page) 22:45, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

  • Yes. While the removal process can be used for any nom, I heartily agree with your sentiments about Force Legend. Atarumaster88 (Talk page) 23:31, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Image sourcing

Please source your image Image:Seventhstarcover.jpg using the {{information}} template in accordance with the image policy. [edit] Re: Force Legend

Of course. I appreciate the comments and response. I'm in the process of re-reading and editing Force Legend I now, and I'm also writing Force Legend II at the same time. Writing two things at once may seem difficult, but I think it will make it seem more entwined. One thing I could use some help on is character development and making sure my characters aren't Mary Sue, so any tips you have on these two subjects would be appreciated. Thanks for the honesty, and I will definitely practice and improve my writing skills. I look forward to speaking to you soon. Darth Wylind (Conference Room) 02:26, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

  • I thank you for your help. Anything you wish to share/tip me with, feel free. I'm going to create a little user sub-page and copy what you said onto it for myself. Darth Wylind (Conference Room) 03:25, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
  • Sure. If you wouldn't mind. Any little thing helps. Darth Wylind (Conference Room) 04:02, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
  • Thanks again. Check out what I've done with what you've told me. Darth Wylind (Conference Room) 05:28, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Force Legend II review

I'm in the process of writing Force Legend II, and plan to have it released sometime this summer. After I write it and proof-read it twice, would you be willing to proof-read/review it also? You can give me advice, comments, tips, or just tell me the errors, things you don't like etc. Feel free to say “no”. Darth Wylind (Conference Room) 19:54, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Featured Work Nom

Just a little heads up in case you missed it. I posted some feedback for you on The Seventh Star's nomination page. --Kathkira talk 08:42, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

  • As a bit of a reminder, SWF is supposed to have a new FW coming up for the main page by March 1, but the queue is currently empty. However, if it is not possible for you to finish your review of either of the FWNs in time, I would say that it is better to not rush the review and rather leave the existing FW up on the Main Page than to speed something through for the sake of "having something on the page." That said, you might want to encourage your Archivist companions to take the lead in trying to build up at least a few months of FWs in reserve, be that by nominating your own work, or by nominating works of others that you've read. (And if you want to urge, cajol, and more or less drag writers from TF.N over to here to increase the prestige, please feel welcome to do ;-) ). Whatever the case may be, I leave this matter in the capable hands of you and the other members of the Archivists, as you guys are the ones running the show. I think I've done what I set out to do with the FW system—though feel free to drop me a line if you have questions. Atarumaster88 (Talk page) 00:57, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] 7th Star

  • I finished re-checking everything. There were a couple last nitpicks from me, and then I'm ready to support. Atarumaster88 (Talk page) 02:14, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Vagrant Lustoid

I agree with you there. Vagrant's made three edits in the last five months. Since becoming an Archivist, he's only made three FW related edits. He's definitely holding you all up, especially in regards to your novel's nomination. One thing that could speed up your novel's nomination (I just thought of this now, hehe) is to have you yourself, as the nominator/author, pull the nomination. That would wipe the slate clean in terms of votes. I could then renominate it for you, which would allow you to vote on the nomination (since it only says the nominator can't vote, not the author) and get the required 2/3 Archivist vote. Just a thought. - Brandon Rhea (talk) (contribs) 23:42, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

I never said it wasn't a temporary solution. If there is a proposal to remove Vagrant and vote in a new Archivist, that's going to take 1-2 weeks. Either way, that will get us into May without a new FW. Fugitive would once again be on the main page at the beginning of yet another new month. If you revoked that nomination and let me renominate, though, you and Kath could vote immediately and I could get you the rest of the votes by the end of that same day. - Brandon Rhea (talk) (contribs) 02:03, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

It's been renominated. - Brandon Rhea (talk) (contribs) 19:32, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

  • FYI, you really can't fire Vagrant on your own. Any user who is in a position such as administrator, Seer or Archivist and is not doing their job would need to be removed by community consensus if the situation calls for it. Therefore, what you would want to do is make one forum thread with a vote for both Vagrant's removal and the election of a new Archivist who would be given the job regardless of whether or not Vagrant is removed. I can set this up if you and Kath want me to. - Brandon Rhea (talk) (contribs) 23:13, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Featured works, etc.

I'm here and stuff. Sorry you all caught me on a bad week... anyway voted on Seventh Star so that should be good to go soon. Let me catch up on things real fast here and we'll see what we can do about getting a third archivist. That's assuming something hasn't already been proposed. --Kathkira talk 16:27, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] FE II

  • I didn't get a chance to reply to some of your last objections, but just to let you know about the continuity with Asajj, this is set a year after the Clone Wars have ended, so AFAIK, there's no canonical basis for this. By some series of circumstances, Asajj was found and forced to serve the Mistryl. She's resented them the entire time, and so takes her chance to be free of the Mistryl. Atarumaster88 (Talk page) 22:08, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] The Seventh Star

Isn't The Seventh Star a novella, not a novel. If so, shouldn't the page be moved to "The Seventh Star (novella)"? Wylind (Conference Room) 16:57, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Heylo!

I read your article, and I have a couple questions. First, what is this Chamber of Corruption (by the way, catchy name! I like it!)? Secondly, shouldn't we/you put more backround on the game first, because I don't know what your intentions are on what order you want to create your articles (i.e. characters first, planets first, game first)? Other than that it sounds really nice! - |Darth Craetor (talk) (contribs) 03:40, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

  • Also, send me a summary of your game (that you have so far) to me through via email, dallask1995@yahoo.com! Ok? - |Darth Craetor (talk) (contribs) 03:48, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Archivist issue

It's not a matter of votes, it's a matter of time. Some consensus threads really only need a week, but in this case you're dealing with demoting someone from their position. That should last two weeks, which means it would end on Tuesday, May 12th. - Brandon Rhea (talk) (contribs) 23:35, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Artwork

[edit] Acceptance nomination

Hey Katana. I'm just messaging to let you know that soon my 'definitive edition' of Acceptance will be released (just finishing my personal proof read) and that your major objections on the featured works nomination page (about capital Holonet, usage of the word home, and long paragraphs) have all been taken care of. I'm not asking you to vote just yet though, but I am letting you know that your objections are cleared up. It'll be up soon. :) –Victor (talk page) 21:20, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

  • The definitive edition of Acceptance has been completed and released at File:Acceptance_book.pdf. –Victor (talk page) 04:48, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
    • Yes, even if you can't vote on it, please take a look at your objections and see if Vic fixed them at your nearest convenience to help speed up the process. Atarumaster88 (Talk page) 05:05, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit] RE:Convict's Dawn

  • Very well. I'm not sure how far you are into the novel itself, but if I recall correctly, the 'purple prose' and description, as you will, begins to decrease as the novel progresses. Nevertheless, I shall keep your advice in mind. — JM76 Droid IRC 06:05, September 3, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Reminder

  • 1 October is less than a week away. If at all possible, please try and coordinate your review with JM76 on CD so he has some time to fix any objections. I'm speaking to myself also on this, but since I can't vote on the nomination anyway, just wanted to drop you a reminder. Atarumaster88 (Talk page) 19:38, September 24, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Reminder Reduxed

Katana, just to let you know, it's a few days before the 1 of November and we've got 3 active FWNs. If you want to pick one to work on for November, just let me know; I've reviewed two of them. Atarumaster88 (Talk page) 16:01, October 26, 2009 (UTC)
