[edit] Do you do Photoshop?
I asked Solus if he does Photoshopped images for the users here and he said not anymore and to turn to you or that you know someone that does Photoshop requests. Can you help me?

[edit] Image "steal"
Um...What image did I steal? I got all of the images from image search. The user probably also used the image search to find his image. I did not steal any image. I would never do anything like that. None of the images on image search had a copyright! This was all a misunderstanding. What image was it I stole? Please provide a link to the exact image. SWBVDM 13:13, 29 March 2009 (CAT)
- The images were Image:Idnum_nihilus_duel.jpg and Image:Master_Jamie.jpg. The latter was based on an official Star Wars image, but still, even only the colour being changed means you'd have to ask permission to use it. Please just make sure you check the source, artist, filespecs, and licenses of the images before using them. Drewton

[edit] Special CASWFN Edition
| ||
[edit] Friends, fanonites, countrymen, lend me your ears…er, eyes…whatever…just run the tapeWelcome to another issue of By now, you've probably realized that this issue is not part of the CUSWFN, nor is it written by the usual culprits. No, instead we got tired of waiting around for the *actual* CUSWFN and decided to make our own, special one-issue-only release. We're not sure what happened to the actual heads. Word has it one of them is busy with the Communist party and the other is playing with children's toys. Please direct all complaints to them and not us. Especially since we're not revealing our names. In fact, we just conned Ataru into uploading this for us because he's a convenient fall guy. As such, this issue is labeled the CASWFN, the Completely Alternative Star Wars Fanon Newsletter, due to the fact that it is not part of the standard newsletter. And, since it's not part of that mess, we felt that we could take a few more creative liberties with the content. As such, there is no compunction for us to be as serious in this issue, so you might find the content a bit more satirical. The date of this release also has something to do with that. Our goal is both provide a level of humor and content missing from CUSWFN issues, and frankly, to have fun with this publication. We hope you'll enjoy this special release of CASWFN, and remember, if you've been wishing you got more issues of the usual newsletter, talk to the normal heads.

[edit] Re: ASWS movie
Despite the fact that the ASWS has been canceled, I'll be suing you for doing this without my permission. I've hired the lawyers from a great organization to represent me. These guys represent the best of justice and would never do anything to break the law or mislead anyone like you have. You can find out more about them here. - Brandon Rhea (talk) (contribs) 13:58, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
- Bah, Americans. Your copright laws can go straight to hell. I wasn't even doing it for profit. And those lawyers are from just a small, barely noticed wordwide country anyway. Especially compared to our Mounties. Drewton

[edit] Image Trouble
Hi Drewton. I have recently been having trouble with uploading images onto my articles. Even though the images I'm trying to upload are from the fanon site and is sourced and all that, it still says that I need to specify the file name first. I have found no possible way of doing this and so I kinda need some help. Could you possibly help me? Baddabaddastudios (Talk) 02:18, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
- I just try to find images that are already on the Fanon. It's what I've pretty much always done, but recently it hasn't been letting me actually put them on my articles. I try to use images when I'm on my other computer and it works. Baddabaddastudios (Talk) 13:45, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
- I search for an image. Once I find the one I'm looking for, I click on it,type in a caption in the captions box and click upload. Then it's supposed to bring the image to my artcile, but it says that I need to specify the file name.Baddabaddastudios (Talk) 17:39, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not uploading new images to the site. i'm using ones already on the site. When I use the box that says find, I search for an image. Once I find it, I click on it and there is a caption box when I use it.Baddabaddastudios (Talk) 21:16, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Quoting you
"Use the old Clone Wars timeline. The new series is a joke compared to preestablished canon." Indeed! I enjoy the show tbh, but the whole screwed up timeline is plainly retarded. Plus Anakin in TCW is nothing like the Anakin we saw in the films. That's all I had to say. :P –Victor
(talk page) 04:52, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah. Not only is Anakin completely different, the Jedi Council is towards him, as well. In the films, they never trusted him, while in TCW they make him a Jedi Knight on literally day one of the Clone Wars and gave him another person to be attached to, thinking he'll be fine when that person's taken away from him, when times in the past have proven that ridiculous. And the Jedi Council would laugh if Obi-Wan suggested that they give him a Padawan - they were already hesitant to make him a Knight in the old Clone Wars. I've heard that the series will be seven weeks into the war, and nearly everything of the old continuity will be compressed into seven weeks. Leeland Chee just needs to declare TCW non-canon to make things easier
Drewton
(Drewton's Holocron) 12:31, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
- Indeed, I especially dislike Ahsoka Tano and anything about her. Cliché sidekick character. Or whatever. As well, Cad Bane is the newest-Mary Sue to Lucas's collection and he reeks of unoriginality, implausibility. That last episode with him was ridiculous! (no one can takeover the Senate Building. Otherwise anyone could just get in an assassinate Palpatine at any given time. Stupid.)–Victor

[edit] Sort of an issue...
I got an email today, well, three emails to be exact, that were about the deletion of some of my pictures. Well, everything seems to be just fine, except for several things here:
- It was said in the letter that "The summary of the edit is: "User was warned a few days after upload, image was not sourced correctly."" - There was no notification actually. No notice given... I've received no warnings these days.
The only one about pictures was for the very first one uploaded (it was last year), that still remains as it has all necessary information provided.
- The pictures, that were deleted, were created by me. I provided the information on that... Yes, I created them in Photoshop, but still I was the creator of the emblem, that was deleted. It has never been used in any other source.
It's difficult to emphasize anything else of particular, but I just want an explanation. I can't understand why these three - exactly these three pictures were wiped out so fast, though I uploaded them according to the rules established in the SW Fanon. I couldn't even learn whether it was planned to delete them or not.
Best regards Neterwan (Talk) 15:51, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
- You'd uploaded them on June 19, and had been warned about Image Sourcing three days later (June 22). None of the three had properly done sourcing. I'm sorry there had been no notification beforehand, I'd just been going through a list of unsourced images last night. If you like, since they were uploaded a while ago, I can restore them now if you'll properly source them within 24 hours. Drewton

- Alright, restoring them now. :) Drewton
"This image does not have information on its copyright status. It may be usable under fair use..." Should I write again "Fair Use"? Neterwan (Talk) 17:10, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] RE: IRC Conversations (Comeback)
Thanks for the offer; I really appreciate you asking me to do an interview for a Novel like that. But a Novel with much await in the SWF community and one I know very little about, I would rather you or Brandon would do the interview. You guys would ask the questions people want to know, detailed questions. I really like doing things that I know about, like interviewing JM on Early SWF or DT on the SWF problems and successes. Plus I have little time the coming weeks (school and acting). Thanks anyways. I would though love to interview DT on his novel as I have read his novel’s chapters.

[edit] CUSWFN – Edition 23
|
Welcome to the twenty-third edition of the Star Wars Fanon wiki’s very own Completely Unofficial Star Wars Fanon Newsletter! For this twenty-third edition, we welcome a new co-editor, Brandon Rhea, to the team! He will be working alongside long-time editor Unit 8311 to bring you the best quality news about the wiki and fan fiction, as well as editorials and opinions essays about Star Wars works, that this wiki has to offer. A little bit of trivia information is that Rhea, along with fellow Star Wars Fanon user Victor Dorantes, has served as the co-editor of the newsletter once before, but he and Dorantes resigned before releasing an issue due to other commitments that required their attention. We are happy that he has returned to us once again! In this edition, you will be able to learn new exclusive information about fan works such as the Squishy Vic Series and Avian Hunt, as well as read news about other works sponsored by this newsletter. We also have an opinion essay written by our own Unit 8311, and the newly-renamed Picture of the Edition segment. We have also brought you up-to-date information about new policy proposals and other happenings around the wiki, such as the ongoing mass deletion process that is geared towards improving the quality of the wiki. Speaking of quality, many users have remarked that the last few editions of this newsletter have not met the standards of quality that our readers have come to expect from us. It is our sincerest hope that this edition of the newsletter will be the first of many that will rectify that, as we have spent weeks working on articles, editorials, and other tidbits that we hope you will enjoy. Because we are striving to improve our quality, we very much encourage you to leave your comments and feedback in the User Comments section. Anything you have to say will be appreciated. As always, thank you for reading the Completely Unofficial Star Wars Fanon Newsletter. We value your commitment to us, and we hope that you will continue to value our commitment to you! |
[edit] Article Deletion
Hi, Drewton. I have noticed that a couple of my articles, Glea Talle and Kau-Ja Manew, are scheduled for deletion. The thing is, I can't think of a way to increase their quality. Could you please give me some tips on how to make the articles worthy of SWFanon? This would help a lot since these characters are vital to my version of the "Star Wars universe". Baddabaddastudios (Talk) 21:20, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- I just looked over Glea Talle, but overall, it needs some major work to make it more encylopedic and less novel-like, and there's POV such as "It was then that she saw the true meaning of horror". Drewton

[edit] CUSWFN – Edition 24
Thank you for your continued commitment to the Completely Unofficial Star Wars Fanon Newsletter! Without you, this edition, albeit somewhat late due to real life matters taking priority for both Unit 8311 and Brandon Rhea, would not have been possible. We hope you enjoy it just as much as we do!
|
Welcome to the twenty-fourth edition of the Star Wars Fanon Wiki's very own Completely Unofficial Star Wars Fanon Newsletter! This edition has been brought to you by co-editors Unit 8311 and Brandon Rhea, and has been made possible by a number of others who took the time to be interviewed by our team. There is a lot of news from the past few weeks since our last release, and we are bringing that and more to your doorstep for yet another outstanding edition! For this twenty-fourth edition, you will be able to find out even more about the wiki's favorite fan works such as the Force Exile Series, Avian Hunt, and much more! Interested in how the upcoming live action Star Wars television series might impact fanon? We have an essay about just that written by our own Unit 8311, as well as our popular Picture of the Edition and IRC Conversations sections. While many of you participate in these discussions, we nevertheless continue to bring you all up-to-date information about new policy proposals, new policies, and more of the wiki’s happenings, such as its continued cleanup efforts. Quality improvement has been a major focus of the newsletter team as of late, just as it has for the wiki. Prior to the twenty-third edition, many users remarked that the newsletter had not met the standards of quality they had come to expect, and we are pleased to report that we dramatically improved ourselves in the last edition. The reception of the twenty-third edition was unanimously positive, and we hope to continue this new trend as long as this newsletter continues to operate! Anytime you want to comment on this edition, we very much encourage you to do so in the User Comments section. Anything you have to say is welcome! As always, thank you for reading the Completely Unofficial Star Wars Fanon Newsletter. We truly value your commitment to us, and we hope that you will continue to value our commitment to you! |

[edit] Re: TPM Visual Dictionary
I'm looking to find a source for this: "It was carved as a traditional Tatooine sand symbol from a piece of japor ivory wood, and was threaded with a string of jerba leather." Does the TPM Visual Dictionary mention all of that? - Brandon Rhea

- Just as a note, it's for Japor snippet. - Brandon Rhea
(talk) 01:37, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- It doesn't look like it. I've found a small "lucky charm" section which just has basic info from the film, and I don't think it would be talked about twice. But it does sound familiar. It could be in the Revenge of the Sith novel. I'll check that now. Drewton

- Found it. It is indeed in the TPM Visual Dictionary. "Japor ivory wood snippet obtained by Anakin through trading". "Jerba leather cord". Drewton

[edit] Re Re:Uploading deleted pics
Thanks Drewton.... talking to a bot? how embarrassing, how embarrassing :-) any who, cheers for your advice, ill upload the pic again when I’m home and just use the same file name. but just a side query, can I click on the deleted pics file name (in red situated within the said article) to start the process? or do I have to start from scratch with the whole "add picture" thing? thanks again mate. regards, Corron Zenith (Talk) 01:33, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
- Clicking on the deleted filename works, but that's still mostly starting from scratch. Drewton

[edit] PNG vs. JPG
"Test done. PNGs look much better when shrunk." — indeed. I started using PNGs (or SVGs when possible) due to this reason. Unlike JPGs, those two file types don't get pixelated/blurry/crappy when shrunk. And gifs, lol, forget them, they get completed ruined when shrunk (if of large size to start with). –Victor
(talk page) 22:23, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, I probably won't be using any JPGs for my articles anymore. I've found some 3000-px wide Star Wars HD images as well as some original A New Hope 70mm scans which I'm hoping to upload as PNGs on Wookieepedia when my block expires (Yes, I finally got banned
!), but the administrators may say that they take up too much room. Lol, yes, GIFs are out of the question. Although I used to use them when I was using primitive technology (Microsoft Paint
) to make "movies", years ago. Drewton

- I guarantee that JMAS or someone (Culator, perhaps) will override your upload by instead converting it to JPG and saying something along the lines of "No need for huge PNG files when JPG gives same quality." Now, that's true in terms of full view, but, as we know, when minimized, JPGs look horrid. So don't count on those PNGs remaining around. And lol! Listen to the sitenotice next time :P (it's okay, Wikia's fault). –Victor

Hey Drewton. When you get a chance today, could you take a look at the FAN of Te'Nilag? It only needs one more Seer vote and one more user vote, and you can cover the former once you take a look at it. Thanks! - Brandon Rhea

[edit] CUSWFN – Edition 25
Thank you for your continued commitment to the Completely Unofficial Star Wars Fanon Newsletter! Without you, this edition, albeit somewhat late due to unfortunate technical difficulties, would not have been possible. We hope you enjoy it just as much as we do!
|
Welcome to the twenty-fifth edition of the Star Wars Fanon Wiki’s very own Completely Unofficial Star Wars Fanon Newsletter! Co-editors Unit 8311 and Brandon Rhea are thrilled to bring you the silver anniversary edition of this newsletter, which has been made possible by a number of others who took the time to be interviewed by our team. We would also like to thank former editors Darth tader, Darth tom, and Drewton for all of the work they put into making all twenty-five editions of this newsletter possible! Now that the thank you part is out of the way, there is a lot of news from the past few weeks since our last release, and we are bringing that and more to your doorstep for yet another outstanding edition! Before we go any further, we would like to acknowledge the delay in this issue’s release. For anyone who was patiently waiting for this newest edition, we would like to apologize for the wait and thank you for being so patient. Unexpected technical difficulties delayed it longer than we had hoped, but once again we are very pleased that we are able to deliver this edition to your doorstep. Rest assured that the next releases will be much timelier! Also, we are announcing that co-editor Brandon Rhea is stepping down from the aforementioned position, effective immediately. As he said when he was elected to the position, “I'm just trying to fix [the newsletter] and put it back on the right track. When that's done, I'm done.” He feels satisfied with the major improvements over the last three editions, so he has decided to let someone else have the chance to help co-edit the newsletter. He has, however, offered to be the proofreader for each edition. Now that the formalities are out of the way, time for the rest of the newsletter! For this edition, you will be able to find out even more about the wiki’s favorite fan works, such as the Squishy Vic Series, The Drewton Legacy, and much more! Interested in the departure of Karen Traviss from Star Wars writing? We have an essay about just that written by our own Unit 8311, as well as our popular Picture of the Edition and IRC Conservations sections. While many of you participate in these discussions, we nevertheless continue to bring you up-to-date information about new policy proposals, new policies, and more of the wiki’s happenings, such as its continued improvement efforts. The reception of our latest editions has been overwhelmingly positive, so we would like to thank you for continuing to take the time to give feedback on the newsletter. We hope to continue this trend, and the best way for us to know how we are doing is for this feedback to continue as well. Anytime you want to commend on this edition, we very much encourage you to do so in the User Comments section. Anything you have to say is welcome! As always, thank you for reading the Completely Unofficial Star Wars Fanon Newsletter. We truly value your commitment to us, and we hope that you will continue to value our commitment to you! |
[edit] New Userpage
Hello Drewton, how are you? Me? I've been busy but I've been hoping to spend a little more time on SW fanon, but might be hard with me working on a photonovel series. Anyway I see that things have chnged alot since last I've been, but for the better. I was hoping what you thought of my new userpage and by blog. Both good and bad comments are welcomed.
By the way, I need you to check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aI4JLa0hbUw —Unsigned comment by Troyb (talk • contribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!
- I'm fine, thanks, and welcome back. It looks good. I see that you're Canadian (and Conversative); same here. Read your deleted blog post as well. Also, in response to your Wookieepedia message, I've posted an update on Yakface. Drewton

[edit] Re: Tinnitus
I've had it most of my life. It goes from okay to bad, but I haven't a bad episode in a couple years. To define bad, I used to get lingering migraines with them. I used to deal with the ringing by closing my eyes and covering the ear that was ringing, as well as aspirin for the migraines. If it's in just one ear, you might want to try to play music in that ear alone, I find that it helps me ignore it since it seems to predominately affect my left ear. Now these aren't really good treatments, so I recommend that you ask your doctor about anything else, you might need to get your ears cleaned.
By the way, do you ever get the loud booming noises? They sort of sound like someone is yelling at you. I still get those in my sleep and they cause me to wake up. Ugh. Anyways hope you can fight it.--Josh BenderTalk 01:51, October 5, 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry to hear that you've had it for so long, although that's good that it hasn't been so bad for a while. Music does help me sometimes, but sometimes when it's really bad only white noise helps (which I play on an iPod all night).
- No, I haven't, but I have heard from other people who hear a booming noise.
- Thanks. I'm much better this week; starting last Friday, I worked on getting myself un-stressed and that seemed to make it better. I haven't heard it much all week. When I'm getting it at all it actually seems to be just in my left ear, and listening to white noise for a short time gets it to go away. Drewton

[edit] Seer IRC channel
Hey, I have a minor proposal for you and the other Seers. Essentially what I’d like to have your blessing for a Council of Seers IRC channel so we can discuss Seer related issues every once and awhile, such as looking at articles, specifically good articles, that may require status removal. There are a number of good articles that would warrant this, and it’s easier than trying to coordinate some annoying review in the consensus track or expect everyone to actually line-by-line articles that are on the chopping block in a CS review page.
In case you’re wondering, we don’t need community consensus for this. This is just something for the Seers, and it’s only a channel that Seers will be able to use. If you have any thoughts on this, feel free to reply on my talk page. If the majority of Seers approve, I’ll get the channel set up and get you the information.
Just as a caveat, this doesn’t mean you have to regularly use IRC, but it does mean you’ll need to make every effort to attend official Seer meetings when we have them. - Brandon Rhea
(talk) 18:39, October 9, 2009 (UTC)
- As an update, if you could please join the IRC some time and take whatever your log in info is, which can be found at the top of the screen upon entry saying "Drewton <blahblahblah> has entered the IRC" or something. This isn't private data, it merely would allow me, if this proposal passed, to set auto-invite flags on you. :) --Darth tom (Message me) (Contributions) 18:49, October 9, 2009 (UTC)
Brandon: I'd be all for that, but I can't say for sure that I could attend every one, because both of the computers I use don't seem to be able to run it. I've tried multiple times and it either takes a while, freezes, or just won't load at all.
Tom: I'll do that as soon as I can (when I get access to another computer, hopefully tonight). Drewton

- Thanks, as long as you make the effort to attend then that's fine. - Brandon Rhea
