Star Wars Fanon is not about administrators, nor is it about the people who have been given accolades or awards. This wiki is about you, the community member and the valued writer. So long as a sense of encyclopedic standard is maintained, this wiki will continue to be the absolute best it can be, especially once you get involved in our community!

Joining the community
Edit
Hey Dionne Jinn! Sorry if this added message seems a bit overwhelming after the huge welcome message you just received, but what I wanted to say is important enough to re-emphasize it here. I wanted to make sure you were as aware as possible of the fantastic community we have here on the wiki. There is literally so much to do beyond just working on your own articles. I definitely don't want to sound like I'm suggesting you shouldn't work on your own articles, but there's a larger community out there too and we'd all love for you to get involved! If you have any questions about the community, which I strongly encourage you to participate in, don't hesitate to ask me. Thanks, and once again welcome to Star Wars Fanon! – -- Brandon Rhea (Talk) 00:30, March 8, 2010
- I'll see about that, but not tonight (It's half past twelve in the night) I just wanted to add my user page to create a link here from my user page in Finnish Jedipedia. I'll take another look, but don't expect too much of me since I'm mostly working on SW canon wikis.--Dionne Jinn—Something to say? 00:35, March 8, 2010 (UTC)
Re: Other languages
Edit
You could create user subpages out of them, but not article subpages since this is the English Star Wars fanon wiki. Sorry. - Brandon Rhea

- By the way, you should consider making Stardust and Shadow a featured work nominee. Featured works are like featured articles and good articles only for fan fiction. I haven't read your story so I can't actually speak to the quality of it, but it more than meets the minimum word requirement. Something to consider! - Brandon Rhea

Appearances template
Edit
Hey Dionne, I just wanted to let you know that I added the {{App}} (appearances) template to Stardust and Shadow, per the Manual of Style's section on appearances. It can be a confusing template if you've never used it before, so if/when you add more of the sections to it, feel free to let me know if you need any help. =) - Brandon Rhea

Re: New wiki
Edit
You're absolutely right, though some articles can be carried over. General articles like Anakin Skywalker could have an interwiki link. It's more useful for generic fan-canon articles. - Brandon Rhea

Re: Fanon timeline
Edit
There's no main timeline here on SWF, so there's nothing saying that you have to use BBY/ABY. You can make up your own dating system. =) Also, as for the interwiki thing, I've yet to hear anything back. - Brandon Rhea

Re: Context
Edit
Any type of fanon is allowed so long as it meets article guidelines, doesn't violate our acceptable content requirements, and/or any other relevant guidelines we have. =) - Brandon Rhea

Re: Interwiki
Edit
I haven't heard a thing, but I'll put in another request. - Brandon Rhea

Links
Edit
Hi. I just wanted to let you know that the interwiki links between SWF and fi.SWF have been set up. =) - Brandon Rhea

- No problem. I've added it to the Main Page. If there's any other pages that happen to be protected that you need the interwiki link added to, let me know and I'd be happy to do it. - Brandon Rhea

Special pages like the recent changes can't be edited. The MediaWiki software prevents it. - Brandon Rhea

Dear Datapad...
Edit
I've categorized your datapad entries per your request, under Category:Dear Datapad entries. Best of luck with your future endeavors! GoodwoodDebating Society10,964 Edits 23:46, November 18, 2010 (UTC)
- About your datapad entries: other than some grammar and spelling peccadilloes, I think it's a great little experiment that could really get one involved with the characters you are creating. Making them subpages of the actual character pages is also a good idea—I say keep it up! And don't be afraid to go back and revise the entries if you feel they could be worded better or somesuch. Happy writing! GoodwoodDebating Society10,964 Edits 00:27, November 19, 2010 (UTC)
- If English isn't your primary language, then more power to you; it's not a problem if you want to use British English in your personal fan fiction stories (after all, this is a great way to learn). In regards to the subpage thing, that was my mistake. It might be a good idea to leave them as subpages of the main Dear Datapad article, but also link them to the characters' respective articles under the heading of See Also (located after the Behind the scenes section). As for making one of them like The Diary of Anne Frank, that's certainly a good goal, and you shouldn't be afraid of it taking a long time. Hope this helps!
