Are you okay with me using the Necasians in the Battle of Casilis? -- Joe Butler (Talk to me) 11:05, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
What I'm basically planning is to have the Necasian Military and the Srav Federation competing over a source of rare ores on the barren planet Casilis. The Savis will also be thrown into the mix (after the events of the Battle of Toydaria, the Savis will be hired by/team up with the Necasians to defeat the Sravs on Casilis). -- Joe Butler (Talk to me) 19:36, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
I haven't planned though details out yet, but will they really affect your decision as to whether or not I can use your faction? -- Joe Butler (Talk to me) 00:16, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
I understand. For the commander, would you like to provide one, shall I create one, or shall I just say "None in particular"? Also, I was planning to have the Necs and the Savis both suffer medium damage, while the Sravs will suffer heavy damage, due to the fact that the Savis and Necs teamed up together due to the events of the Battle of Toydaria. The results will likely be that the Sravs put up a strong fight, but are defeated by the Savis and Necs, therefore allowing the Necs to gather the rare ore on Casilis. -- Joe Butler (Talk to me) 12:49, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
Indeed, that would spice things up.
Thanks, Tom.

[edit] CUSWFN – Edition 23
|
Welcome to the twenty-third edition of the Star Wars Fanon wiki’s very own Completely Unofficial Star Wars Fanon Newsletter! For this twenty-third edition, we welcome a new co-editor, Brandon Rhea, to the team! He will be working alongside long-time editor Unit 8311 to bring you the best quality news about the wiki and fan fiction, as well as editorials and opinions essays about Star Wars works, that this wiki has to offer. A little bit of trivia information is that Rhea, along with fellow Star Wars Fanon user Victor Dorantes, has served as the co-editor of the newsletter once before, but he and Dorantes resigned before releasing an issue due to other commitments that required their attention. We are happy that he has returned to us once again! In this edition, you will be able to learn new exclusive information about fan works such as the Squishy Vic Series and Avian Hunt, as well as read news about other works sponsored by this newsletter. We also have an opinion essay written by our own Unit 8311, and the newly-renamed Picture of the Edition segment. We have also brought you up-to-date information about new policy proposals and other happenings around the wiki, such as the ongoing mass deletion process that is geared towards improving the quality of the wiki. Speaking of quality, many users have remarked that the last few editions of this newsletter have not met the standards of quality that our readers have come to expect from us. It is our sincerest hope that this edition of the newsletter will be the first of many that will rectify that, as we have spent weeks working on articles, editorials, and other tidbits that we hope you will enjoy. Because we are striving to improve our quality, we very much encourage you to leave your comments and feedback in the User Comments section. Anything you have to say will be appreciated. As always, thank you for reading the Completely Unofficial Star Wars Fanon Newsletter. We value your commitment to us, and we hope that you will continue to value our commitment to you! |
[edit] Unacceptable username
I think you should remove the "we also think you're likely to vandalize." from your statement on this profile. Aren't we supposed to assume good faith, even if the person does have an unacceptable username?--Josh BenderTalk 21:17, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
- I'm hoping that was a joke considering that you protected his talk page.
--Josh BenderTalk 06:37, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Block summaries
Hey Tom, please don't use the "LOL DENIED" with links to Arkhampedia in block summaries. We're not a humor wiki, so let's try to keep it a bit more serious. Also, the "we think you're likely to vandalize" is feeding the trolls, so it's best not to acknowledge that at all. Thanks.
- Brandon Rhea
(talk) 19:02, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
- "LOL DENIED" is feeding the trolls, dude. Troll feeding means you're giving them unnecessary reactions. Just saying "Improper/offensive user name" is in no way feeding the trolls. - Brandon Rhea
(talk) 21:07, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
[edit] RE:The Hell?
I'll keep that stuff in mind for the future; however, please don't go and assume I simply 'quit' the IRC. My comp keeps closing me out of firefox; that's why I came right back into the room... - Joe (talk) 16:42, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
And saying that I took 'it up a notch to pretty much an inquisition' is a bit of an exaggeration. You were saying that, on an objection for the FAN CS:Order of the Whills, I should've simply backed down when Brandon said that the source material didn't show anything. However, if an average user were to take a look at the section I was troubled by, they might wonder how exactly Bac became the Shaman of the Whills; it seems Brandon noticed that too, as he changed it a bit to make more sense.
Also, the reason I got a bit flustered was because, when you said that 'funny' things on the GANs and FANs get passed around pretty quickly, you made it seem as though I was making a fool of myself, or something, when really I wasn't at all. So, I do believe I had a right to get a little bit frustrated, especially when you make it sound as if I was out of control when you say that you're surprised I would "do stuff like this". - Joe (talk) 16:58, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Block
I checked the recent changes and did not see anything. I must have missed it, because the only edit I saw having been made on the IP's talk page was the Wikia bot. Regardless, I suggest you let the block stand. An IP made a very similar edit a few days ago to the exact same page. The first was "buy genericviagra cheap", and the one just a few hours ago was "order cialis online cheap". Not only does that translate to "buy pills to get a bigger dick", but it's also a multiple offender. It could also be some sort of bot. Either way, while in most instances good faith can be assumed, this is clearly not one of them both due to the nature of the offense and the multiple offenses. Also, while good faith should be assumed, our blocking policy doesn't give warnings for vandalism. If page blanking were under the editing policy, it'd be a different story. Just my two cents on the matter, but as I said I suggest you let the block stand. The IP would just likely be back. - Brandon Rhea

[edit] Alsakan articles
Instead of directing to generic articles like Galactic Republic, go ahead and link to ASWS articles, like Galactic Republic (ASWS), in the Alsakan articles that you're working on. - Brandon Rhea

[edit] RE: Elder scrolls
It's too early for that now. Thanks for your help. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 20:03, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
- Well, things have gotten worse. I've recently asked for Uberfuzzy's help in the matter. Ironically, Xell isn't at the root of the problem any longer; it's KAJ. Her beliefs in the so-called "Greater Good" have gotten the best of her, and now KAJ is blocking anyone (blocking them infinitely, I should add) who criticizes the wiki. She also making all of Xell's followers administrators. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 16:15, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Sourcing
Hey Tom. I see Bessimir's going pretty well so far. Just a quick request for now. When you're creating articles to go along with it, such as minor character articles and stuff like that, could you source them? We have a whole website of source material available, so let's try to do this legit. Thanks. :) - Brandon Rhea
(talk) 20:55, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
- Also, could you be more specific in your source for File:Bessimir battle.jpg, as in an exact link to the image on the website you provided? Like with saying "DeviantArt", just putting the link to that main website isn't really a legitimate source. - Brandon Rhea
(talk) 20:58, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Like with any other user, that's not really an acceptable reason not to have a specific link so please be sure to find it. I'd suggest asking the person who showed it to you. - Brandon Rhea

[edit] CUSWFN – Edition 24
Thank you for your continued commitment to the Completely Unofficial Star Wars Fanon Newsletter! Without you, this edition, albeit somewhat late due to real life matters taking priority for both Unit 8311 and Brandon Rhea, would not have been possible. We hope you enjoy it just as much as we do!

Welcome to the twenty-fourth edition of the Star Wars Fanon Wiki's very own Completely Unofficial Star Wars Fanon Newsletter! This edition has been brought to you by co-editors Unit 8311 and Brandon Rhea, and has been made possible by a number of others who took the time to be interviewed by our team. There is a lot of news from the past few weeks since our last release, and we are bringing that and more to your doorstep for yet another outstanding edition! For this twenty-fourth edition, you will be able to find out even more about the wiki's favorite fan works such as the Force Exile Series, Avian Hunt, and much more! Interested in how the upcoming live action Star Wars television series might impact fanon? We have an essay about just that written by our own Unit 8311, as well as our popular Picture of the Edition and IRC Conversations sections. While many of you participate in these discussions, we nevertheless continue to bring you all up-to-date information about new policy proposals, new policies, and more of the wiki’s happenings, such as its continued cleanup efforts. Quality improvement has been a major focus of the newsletter team as of late, just as it has for the wiki. Prior to the twenty-third edition, many users remarked that the newsletter had not met the standards of quality they had come to expect, and we are pleased to report that we dramatically improved ourselves in the last edition. The reception of the twenty-third edition was unanimously positive, and we hope to continue this new trend as long as this newsletter continues to operate! Anytime you want to comment on this edition, we very much encourage you to do so in the User Comments section. Anything you have to say is welcome! As always, thank you for reading the Completely Unofficial Star Wars Fanon Newsletter. We truly value your commitment to us, and we hope that you will continue to value our commitment to you! |
[edit] Necasians
Hi, I recently joined the Cruentusian Project, and I'd like to know what you think about me using your Necasian faction in a couple articles. Here's the idea:
My faction is a small planetary defence force, it will be attacked by the Sravs (assuming Unit8311 let's me use them) but will be able to beat them and then conquer some space. At some point the faction's leader will make a deal merging the faction and its space with the Nacasians. The faction leader will then become a Necasion officer.
Let me know if you disapprove.
Ty294 (Talk) 21:23, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
- Well since I posted here the story has evolved. Originally my group was to be really small and ally with Necs, but it's now been changed to UCW who they ally with. I've been working with Unit and here's some of the stuff we've got: Invasion of Sinya (Cruentusian War), Skirmish in Stahlon (Cruentusian War), Sinya Defense Force, SAAV-4 light tank. Also, once our Sinya/Srav story is complete, I'm gonna work with Darth Storm on a Taung invasion. Following this my side will be one of the groups to join the UCW. Ty294

[edit] SWRPEDIA becomes your friend :D
SWRPEDIA is not about second life. You really just have to browse through it. Anyway, I noticed a wiki of content on SWFANON that belongs in SWRPEDIA (things such as character RP logs, character journals, character descriptions that occurred from within the SWRP community in SL) that currently exists on your wiki. So, we'd love to become official partners with your site so people will post things in the right place. Please advise. Oh yeah, and I'll look through your style guide, sorry that wasn't done first. Gistya (Talk) 07:33, 7 August 2009 (UTC) OK, why would you oppose it? I am very open-minded. I would sincerely like to hear your views. Thanks. Gistya (Talk) 07:37, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Well, the SWRP community in SL is completely different from the Star Wars Role-Play forum website that you mentioned, and thus would neither conflict with nor compete with that site. I'm really not sure how familiar you are with SWRP in SL... for example at this very moment there are over 100 RPers online concurrently RPing within the various "sims", for example. There are many different Star Wars forum-based RP websites on the internet; all are two-dimensional, text-based systems. However, SWRP in SL is much more like a giant LARP; some consider it a SLARP. It is what has happened when SW fans have created their own MMORPG, with all user-created content -- three-dimensional objects, working space ships, working light sabers, combat systems, user-designed planetary systems, etc.
I'm not sure what SWFANON deems would be of benefit to itself, or not, but as the SWRP community in SL represents easily one of the largest repositories of fan-created SW content on the internet and one of the most active communities, I would tend to think a relationship between our sites would only be natural.
Gistya (Talk) 07:54, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
SWRPEDIA is not an MMORPG. Sigh. It's a wiki, on Wikia. Many people who create characters, planets, ships, organizations, etc. within SWRP in SL, create wikis for them in SWRPEDIA. There is also an affiliated forum at SWRP.net. So, it is really a wiki AND a forum, that is actively populated by the fan-created virtual reality Star Wars community, which is NOT an MMORPG, although in some ways it is kind of like one, it's totally unlike one in many other ways. If SWFANON is truly the "wiki of fan invention" that it claims to be, then you must realize that what goes on within SL SWRP is a giant, persistent fanon universe, that is composed of many of the following things: "event, character, story, or other aspect related to a story, that is conceived by a fan of the Star Wars universe, and applies to Star Wars", but if you add to that, also, "virtual objects, virtual costumes, groups, organizations, interactive content," and many other things.

[edit] Defection to Necasians
Hi tom,
I was wondering what you would think if one of my Sinyan Characters defected to the Necasians? I really can't think of any other way to get him into the war crimes trials.

[edit] CUSWFN – Edition 25
Thank you for your continued commitment to the Completely Unofficial Star Wars Fanon Newsletter! Without you, this edition, albeit somewhat late due to unfortunate technical difficulties, would not have been possible. We hope you enjoy it just as much as we do!

Welcome to the twenty-fifth edition of the Star Wars Fanon Wiki’s very own Completely Unofficial Star Wars Fanon Newsletter! Co-editors Unit 8311 and Brandon Rhea are thrilled to bring you the silver anniversary edition of this newsletter, which has been made possible by a number of others who took the time to be interviewed by our team. We would also like to thank former editors Darth tader, Darth tom, and Drewton for all of the work they put into making all twenty-five editions of this newsletter possible! Now that the thank you part is out of the way, there is a lot of news from the past few weeks since our last release, and we are bringing that and more to your doorstep for yet another outstanding edition! Before we go any further, we would like to acknowledge the delay in this issue’s release. For anyone who was patiently waiting for this newest edition, we would like to apologize for the wait and thank you for being so patient. Unexpected technical difficulties delayed it longer than we had hoped, but once again we are very pleased that we are able to deliver this edition to your doorstep. Rest assured that the next releases will be much timelier! Also, we are announcing that co-editor Brandon Rhea is stepping down from the aforementioned position, effective immediately. As he said when he was elected to the position, “I'm just trying to fix [the newsletter] and put it back on the right track. When that's done, I'm done.” He feels satisfied with the major improvements over the last three editions, so he has decided to let someone else have the chance to help co-edit the newsletter. He has, however, offered to be the proofreader for each edition. Now that the formalities are out of the way, time for the rest of the newsletter! For this edition, you will be able to find out even more about the wiki’s favorite fan works, such as the Squishy Vic Series, The Drewton Legacy, and much more! Interested in the departure of Karen Traviss from Star Wars writing? We have an essay about just that written by our own Unit 8311, as well as our popular Picture of the Edition and IRC Conservations sections. While many of you participate in these discussions, we nevertheless continue to bring you up-to-date information about new policy proposals, new policies, and more of the wiki’s happenings, such as its continued improvement efforts. The reception of our latest editions has been overwhelmingly positive, so we would like to thank you for continuing to take the time to give feedback on the newsletter. We hope to continue this trend, and the best way for us to know how we are doing is for this feedback to continue as well. Anytime you want to commend on this edition, we very much encourage you to do so in the User Comments section. Anything you have to say is welcome! As always, thank you for reading the Completely Unofficial Star Wars Fanon Newsletter. We truly value your commitment to us, and we hope that you will continue to value our commitment to you! |

[edit] Battle infoboxes
Hey Tom. Just so you know, on the crappy old infoboxes like Template:Triple battle, you can't get rid of one of the fields, like all of the "Commander" sections, without a coding error. I added Template:Battle/2 to Showdown in the Hutt Palace in order to correct this error. - Brandon Rhea
(talk) 03:15, October 4, 2009 (UTC)
- It's really all of the old battle infoboxes. IMO, just stick with Template:Battle/2. Subjectively it looks better, but objectively it certainly works much better because it won't giving you coding errors for leaving certain fields or sections blank. - Brandon Rhea
