NOW REQUESTING VOLUNTEERS TO TEST AVIAN HUNT!

Contents

[edit] Avian Hunt testing applications

To sign up, you are required to have an email address on Star Wars Fanon. If you do not have one, you can create an anonymous account on a free email provider such as Google mail and write the address in your preferences. Your address will be visible only to those who also have uploaded their own addresses, which is much more secure than posting it on your userpage for two minutes (anyone who cares can look in the page history). You will also need access to a computer running Windows 2000 or higher (preferably XP, but I don't know if it will work on Vista).

If you wish to apply for an official testing position, give me a post in this section outlining:

  1. How important video games are to you
  2. Your favorite video game genre (If you don't have one, say so)
  3. Your favorite video game (if you don't have one, say so)
  4. What you think makes a good game

There are no wrong answers because I'm looking for diversity. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 02:51, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Seems interesting, I guess I'd like to try this out. So:
  1. Video games are important to me in that they help my imagination expand, and to provide inspiration. Halo, for example, provided alot of inspiration for one of my non-Star Wars stories.
  2. My favorite game genres include: RPG, FPS, 3rdPS (TPS?), Action-Adventure, Platform, Strategy, and Vehicle Simulation.
  3. Favourite video games include: Halo, most Star Wars games, Quake 4, Doom, Prey, AoE 1 + 2, TimeShift etc. etc.
  4. A good game must have a combination of an awesome story, awesome gameplay, replayability, great graphics (not really an issue), and level of mysticism is nice but not required for some games.

Is that fine? Darth mavoc 00:36, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

  1. Video games are generally unimportant in my life. However, I do play a good game every now and then. For example, early this year and late last year I completed Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty 4, both amazing games - completing those games was important to me. However, playing games just to try them? No, I only play if I am strongly interested, intrigued and willing to finish the game.
  2. My favorite genres are RPG and adventure, and I guess shooters (though there are very limited number of good shooters).
  3. I'd have to say Knights of the Old Republic and Call of Duty 4.
  4. Graphics- regardless what those "I don't care" people say, graphics are definitely important. I recently started college and one of my classes is 3D - 3D design is amazing, and I can't wait to see your graphics. Also, the controls and camera angles have to flow smoothly, otherwise, it ruins the whole game (like most Marvel games; Spider-Man 3, aside from being a terrible game anyway, had terrible camera angles). And of course, the story has to be interesting. But, I am always willing to give any Star Wars game a chance, since I'm naturally bias towards Star Wars.

There's my application. I only hope I get to test this game (or even play it eventually) because as I've told you before, it'd have to be available for Mac. File:Tongue.gif File:Wink.gif --Squishy Vic discussion archives 00:44, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

While the final version would be available for Mac (I'm even considering the possibility of taking off a few graphical and gameplay restrictions for the Mac version because it has better horsepower, so I don't need to worry about run speed like I do on the PC), the Game Maker beta for Mac won't be available until late March, so I don't expect any private demo to be released for Mac OS X until perhaps April.

In the meantime, I've added you two to my roster; I've been working very hard on this game lately. The first test version will be in the form of a 3D space simulation shooter, where you can control at least one craft (probably the Eta-2 from Revenge of the Sith) and dogfight Vulture Droids. I'll have a small variety of camera modes and a couple of control options, and when it comes time for testing, I'd like feedback on preferred control type and camera (I already have my own favorites, but I do still need to make a final decision). Vic, if you can't use a PC for this, you may have to wait until April to test what's otherwise planned for March, but otherwise, everything looks pretty good. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 03:27, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Application

  1. Video games are an important part in my life, not saying I have no life but I enjoy playing them, and also creating them.
  2. My favorite genre has to be a good shooter, I don't know why they just are my type.
  3. My favorite video game of all time is the Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare.
  4. A good game has great user interaction, and you enjoy playing it. In a game it shouldn't be based on it's graphics or sound, but it does help, but it should be based on how the player enjoys it, and how much they can interact with the game.

Thats my application, nothing special, but thats it. TaderTalk 20:35, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Application

Ah, the fabled Avian Hunt finally enters beta testing. Can't miss this :)
  1. Video games are awesome. They can be both fun and educational in a subliminal way. Though I don't play to a point where I have no life, I play enough where I can enjoy a good game every so often.
  2. RPGs, Turned-based strategy, adventure, and the occasional FPS.
  3. Fire Emblem 7, Tales of Symphonia, Assassin's Creed, and an occasional dose of Super Smash Bros Brawl.
  4. No matter how good the graphics are, storyline makes the game. You can have killer graphics, high end sound, and quick loading times, but it all goes to dust if you have a cliched, overused story. Plus, one can't really interact with the character and his/her problems if the game contains boring heroes/villains. The only exception are shooters, who usually do well with a decent to great plot.

P.S. - Can't wait for a Mac version! :P -- JM76 Ask Archives 05:41, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Application

  1. Video games ar a important aspect of my life. Video games give me ideas for future ideas in drawings and/or writing. It gives me a chance to get relieved from the world and have some fun. I think playing video games expands someone imagination to greater levels. I'm a nerd, I know.
  2. I like RPGs, Action-Adventure, War games, Star War games (so far I like all Star Wars games that I've played), games like Zelda, shooter games, and games that their plots make sense.
  3. By far Medal of Honor: Rising Sun, and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time because they are challenging but the plot makes sense.
  4. A game that has a plot that makes sense, a twist or interesting point in it, a bit challenging, action and adventure in it, and one that has different choices in what to do at one moment but you have to do a main part to advance in the storyline. Oh, and also the game keeps you entertained at ALL times.

And, yup, thats pretty much it. Darth Craetor 04:36, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Is it ok if I make some changes to the CIS navy? I mean its all canon, and this is an all fanon website. Star DestroyerFleet
Be bold. It doesn't look like there's an article called CIS Navy on this site, so you can create it if you want. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 17:17, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Oh, well I know that was a while ago when I said that, but there was a CIS navy for a while that was created by somebody who was creating Canon articles, but someone prbably deleated it. User:Star DestroyerFleet

[edit] Internet Issue is Figured Out!!!

We figured out the issue, out router is busted so it restricts how we connect to the internet, or interferes with our wireless internet, Verizon is sending us a new Router and by thursday or Friday if all is well I will, repeat for real, I will be back:P Then I can work on MPTG, and help out with AV. So yeah, and regarding to making it online, I figured out the basics for all that, how to you plan to make it work as technically MMOSG? Well, I gotta go soon, my school is having Open House tonight! TaderTalk 20:34, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Sounds great, Tader! Strategy games are more difficult to make, but I assure you I've been experimenting. The change_object action is invaluable. I'm not necessarily going to make it online, see my poll at P:AV. I'm only going to toil through that extra effort if people really want me to make it online. Which, I admit wholeheartedly, would be pretty cool. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 20:52, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, well one thing I have always wanted to know how to do, on some games that I play where you click is where your main character shoots, like in a platform game or parrelex game. If you know how, or need further detail so you know what I mean, please let me know. TaderTalk 19:04, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
I suppose in a global mouse event, an invisible (or visible X, I don't know!) target object should be made at mouse_x, mouse_y. Then the character needs to check whether the target is within its blaster range, and if it is, create a moving instance of the laser in direction point_direction(x,y,target.x,target.y). If it isn't in range, move the character in that direction. You can use, alternatively, the "move in direction of a point" action, and define the point as target.x,target.y. The game I'm making is turn-based, so nothing will move before it gets there (unless it takes more than one turn, by which time the course needs to be redefined). If you're talking real-time, you need the target object to check if there's an object at position x,y, and if so, set a variable so that in a step event (or frequently looping alarm, set to something like 3 or 4) that has actions to make it move in the direction of point other.x,other.y. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 19:16, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Okay, thats great, thanks! TaderTalk 19:28, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Zit works! I got a new Router, middle of dinner UPS shows up with it, set it up, had an issue, called Verizon the router sorted it out and we have a nice new internet!!!!! TaderTalk 23:13, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Hey, everything is a go! I am working on GM for now and running some tests, so once those are finished I'll start on MPTG. So is MPTG like a Zelda like with the views or Poke'mon which is a birds eye slant view. TaderTalk 20:06, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Joke Articles

Hey. I just read that proposal for joke articles...i'm just wondering. Since you read The Fanon Menace page, do you consider that a joke article, and if so, is it ok. I mean we're still working on it, but i started reading that proposal and started to wonder. anyway. thanks! -- Tesh 162 14:07, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

I wouldn't consider it a joke article, but rather a serious article describing a joke YouTube series. I'd say the Fanon Menace has every right to continue. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 19:02, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Hey, thnx for the message, I have been working on and off, no where near your knowledge of information you ever ha:P But I'll take a look at the 3D models, it looks very interesting, and I will do my best to make a simpler 1 page CUSWFN Template, instead of lots of 20 million paged things:P Well I am finally all calmed down, I fixed all my computers, got my wireless settings all fixed(Never plan to go ALL WIRELESS!!!), and my play I have spent 2 months on is over! So I am good, so I'll help out again, work on GM, MPTG, and CUSWFN! Bye! TaderTalk 00:53, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

The Completely Unofficial Star Wars Fanon Newsletter

Volume VI - November 4, 2007

Hello, C3PO the Dragon Slayer, and once again, the CUSWFN comes to greet you at your doorstep, for November 4, 2007!

Whats Up?

  • Taders Back = CUSWFN's Back! After 2, 3, 4 months of me being gone, I know it was tough, but I'm back, and everythings going to be fine!:P I was gone for multiple techincal reasons, personal reasons, bored of wikia(never said that one before), and Halo 3:P Well I have decided that everything is back to normal, that I should return to my SWF Journalism, to report all the news, facts, and updates to keep you, yes you, updated on all the SWF knowledge there is!
  • CUSWFN Updates! Well seeming the 'ol gracious, extrodinary, ultra-fantastic, can't-live-without, CUSWFN has returned it's time to give updates, and try to get some intrest in it. Well first of all, being gone for a long time, I also noticed many other had left to Reforms, banning, fights, other people leaving, got bored of SWF:P, and had other issues, I would like to know who still is here that was part of the old CUSWFN team,(Shadowphobia?), just so I know who I have to work with. But besides that, new updates, I plan to make the CUSWFN for now a simple 1 paged template, instead of that many linked thing we had, It was so hard to set up, took hours! But once we get more stories I'll divide this up to categorized pages. Uhh, submissions for the CUSWFN is welcomed by anyone, please keep it SWF related, or a major Canon news update, and please keep voting, or recently discussed proposals at a Neutral-Point-Of-View please. And anyone interested in getting one sent to you please request it here.
  • Nothing Else There will be more Whats up soon, cause how can you have a SWF whats up, if you been gone for 4 months looking for the Ark of the Covenant:P

Local SWF news

  • It's not the latest, but hey, to me it is! Well looks like the Critic's Lounge is up, looks to me the latest instalment of SWF, Also it looks like the DL/HP swap is still undergoing. And the ever lasting big red lettered notice about having your articles undeleted(don't request it, unless it's a signifigant article that you wrote). And new FA news,(looky above to checky iy out!)
  • FA/GA News! This weeks Featured Article is Battle of Bestine IV, and this weeks GA is Ada Karr, go check 'em out, and don't forget to vote for new FA's and GA's, your vote counts, and is needed.

Hey, if you have the time can you tinker with this, to make the Polls stay in the grey area where they should be. If you can't thats fine, I have an alternative plan for it then, just polls are easier. TaderTalk 02:07, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

I tried a few things, but nothing seemed to work. I'm pressed for time, so if you want to look at the code for P:AV, there is a poll placed in a graphic formatting template there and it works just fine. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 02:22, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] CUSWSS Sprites

I was just inquiring as to where you got the sprites for the game. Nothing serious, just that I'm making my own, and I, unfortunately cannot find any good sprites.

If they are yours, however, I would like to ask permission before using them.

PS: By the way, this is Darth mavoc. So, leave an answer on my talk page.

Thanks.

Ah, mavoc! It's been a while. I can't name a specific source that I went to to download the sprites, because I made the sprites myself. If you really wanted them, I could email them to you, if you're willing to attribute the credit for creating the sprites to yours truly File:Smile.gif. I made most of my sprites by making LEGO models (either customly or by existing sets) and looking at them from above. Each stud contituted as a single pixel on a digital drawing with Game Maker's sprite editor, or in the case of CUSWSS II, four pixels. This let me be rather consistent with the design of ships in canon and somewhat believable in terms of size and detail. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 22:23, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, it has been a while hasn't it. So many things got in the way. I'm actually planning on returning as soon as the holidays begin. So yeah.

Anyway, I'd be happy to extend all due credit to you. If you want to e-mail them to me, my e-mail is .

Game Maker? Ha, that's funny. That's what I'm using. For IT class. That's what the sprites are for.

Anyway, its nice to be here again. Sharrakor 06:46, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

All right, I sent the email. Let me know if you have any problems. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 03:42, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. I owe you one. Sharrakor 04:14, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Avian Hunt

  • Looks like its coming along. I saw that you use Blender for 3D images, and I just wanted to say that I've played with its features a little bit, it look really good. Hopefully it'll come up with some good looking sprites for Avian Hunt. File:Wink.gif -- JM76 Ask Archives 22:26, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Models. We're talking real 3D here! I could post a couple screenshots (say, the TX-130, which is my favorite so far) right now, but I think I'll wait until I have a couple more astonishing-looking ones. The Spider Tank and the TIE fighter look good, but they don't really show off as much as the TX-130. I finished the Delta-7 just now, and I'll see how much of the YT-1300 and the Eta-2 I can do tomorrow. Actually, come to think of it, my next Avian Hunt news post might be sooner than expected!) --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 23:21, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] CUSWFN/GameMaker

Hey here you go, hey look at my message below CUSWFN to.

I have spent the past few days looking at the tutorials at the GameMaker Community Forums and I have found out how to make you go somewhere and go around objects by clicking the mouse. Last time I asked you how to do it you didn't know, so incase you still don't go here, http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showtopic=273204 open up the link for GM6 and take a look at it. It looks very efficient I just need to see if I can do other commands like shooting while it's moving without it being interupted. Well hope that helps you, it's very simple, just if you try it, forget all that inventory stuff. Enjoy the CUSWFN, bye!!! TaderTalk 19:41, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Hey, thanks, but the item system in Avian Hunt is a little different. I can see this being applied to a game a friend is making, though. I'll pass it on! --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 21:54, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Yeah I knew Avian Hunt won't need it but it's there for future reference, but I can't find find out how to make the guy change which way he's looking when he is moving, argh. But hey, was the CUSWFN okay? TaderTalk 22:51, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

I'll have to take a look to see what you're talking about. My PC is not currently available, but I'll check later. CUSWFN just keeps getting better. Keep it up! --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 23:13, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Competition on Yoyogames!!!

Hey if you didn't hear there is a big competition on YoYogames where you can create up to 2 games with a "winter" theme, the community will chose their favorites then the YoyoGames staff will judge the rest. The prizes might catch your attention.

  • 1st: $1000
  • 2nd: $500
  • 3rd: $250

Seems good, I don't have a great chance of winning, I'm making a game where your Santa and you fly over Iraq delivering presents to the soldiers, hopefully the supporting the soldiers stuff in it will give me a better chance, well go here for more details. http://glog.yoyogames.com/?p=31 Have fun with it!!! TaderTalk 14:01, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

I actually read it two minutes after it was posted. It was a coincidence that I went to the Yoyogames homepage right when the glog was updated. I'm not going to participate because I don't want to sacrifice too much time on non-Avian Hunt before it's released, and I'm sure if I needed the money I could submit it to a later contest. But to be honest, I've been very conservative with spending my whole life so I have a hefty savings.
That's a cute idea for a game. I never would have thought of it. If you need any help, you can email me or ask on this talk page. Did you see the latest Avian Hunt news update? I'd love some feedback on the new models before I go forward on adding more. I have about eighty ships to make if I want the full story in single-player mode. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 14:27, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Never mind found it. TaderTalk 15:49, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Okay I took a look at the models, and read what you're going to do, and I say, Wow, it is very good and it will be awesome to use and see in Avian Hunt, keep at it, there very good. TaderTalk 15:53, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Hey for my game I have temporary Power ups, so i make it when you collide with it you become another object, so basically same sprite just you can do other things. But I set a timer for after so many steps you turn back to the original object(Santa), but I can't get it to work, so what should I do. TaderTalk 23:52, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Avian Hunt question

Your Avian Hunt models look great. I noticed from the screenshots that you're making the game on a Windows, so I wanted to know, will the game be available for Mac OS X when it's released? I know some games, most, aren't compatible with Macintosh since they're meant for Windows. --Victor, Sr. HoloNet 209 07:03, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

As a matter of fact, I will do all in my power to make it available for Mac. Game Maker will be ported to the Mac by the Yoyogames staff by January, so it will be able to create games for Mac OS X. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 11:51, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Good to hear. I'm anxious to play the game, looking forward to it. --Victor, Sr. HoloNet 209 20:11, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RE:Edit on Darth Infinieus (or something)

In response to this [1], I never badger anyone about "categorization" just because they don't specify rank. If they have "Sith", that's fine. But, if they have no category aside from "Articles undergoing major edits" or "articles that need to be fanonifed" or "articles by L337", then it's a problem. Just thought I'd clear that up, because I don't know where you saw that. --Victor, Sr. HoloNet 209 06:31, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

  • I see where you saw that (on the talk page of Infineus or whatever his name is). That's not a valid deletion reason, because it is categorized. --Victor, Sr. HoloNet 209 06:46, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

  • Are you still having the issues you mention at the top of your user page? Is it only on swfanon or on other Wikia wikis as well? Your user page is slow to load because of the bug with images we're currently working on... so I was wondering if you were seeing something else or if you were talking about something local to your machine. Thanks. Johnq@Wikia (talk) 01:17, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
    • This seems to be a problem with the network at my house, namely the wireless network the PC uses. It's not so difficult with the Mac, though; it uses an Apple wireless router that is much more effective. I suspect it is not Wikia's fault, as I have difficulty sending data to other sites too unless I'm using the Mac. Thanks for your willingness to help me out with this; but I think the problem will best be solved here at home. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 01:41, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Hola!

Hey 3PO, i've seen the latest updates in Avian Hunt the ships in it look great. And the music sounds good, and just checking in on you, and I have a question, how would you draw 3D model of a Mandalorian, I'm gonna try a few tests with making a 3D RPG, with a Camera in it, but I don't know how to draw the models yet. But once I get that I could make a little demo of MPTG, if I get it to work. TaderTalk 00:28, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

I think you should get acquainted with Blender. Click here to take a look. It's a good program for modeling. Just approach it slowly; focus on learning to do simple things before you try making people. When you figure out the controls and stuff, look for the tutorial on modeling a humanoid figure, and go from there. Contact me again when you made a model (color or texture not necessary) and I'll show you how to put it in Game Maker. I could even give you a script or two as a bit of help. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 00:36, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Huh? No, download the CLASSIC version. That one's free, and it does what you need. [2]. That one shouldn't ask you to register, and if it does, just skip it. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 02:28, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

  • Nevermind. TaderTalk 04:07, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
Hey how do you export the model as a GML? I can't find it at the moment, well night! TaderTalk 04:37, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
Look at your instructions. After UV Mapping it, save it as an .obj file, then import it into Blender again. I'm assuming you downloaded the Python script that I pointed out (for Blender), but I'm not quite sure how that works. Anyway, find the button (or however the script works, look for a help file if you can't find any) to export GML in Blender and then carry on. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 17:51, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] RE:Belligerence

First off, his user name says it all: Belligerence is clearly belligerent. He refuses to even read our rules. Had he read the image policy, he would know that you have to use the {{information}} template. I don't see how the Image Policy is so "terrible" as you put it, since it explains each field in the information template and tells all users that they have to source their images, and it even explains the conditions for not doing so. For you to say that I should put myself in his shoes is just ignorant, because if you take a look at the user Darth tom, he began to follow the rules without reacting hostile and whining about. He kindly asked for my help and has so far followed the rules, although I assume he had to go, hence why he didn't finish. And why did he follow the rules? Because it's easy to do it. How lazy to you have to be that you can't even type a few more words and hit the save button one more time? Honestly, you should stop pitying this kid. You of all people, since after you accidentally banned him, he called you a jerk. How civil. --Squishy Vic HoloNet 209 01:40, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Your first argument reminds me of a user on another site called "Dragon," who was scared that I would slay him if he disagreed with me lol. That said, I think that is unduly prejudicial. Where the image policy fails is explaining what to do in Belligerence's situation, in which the image does not have any source outside Star Wars Fanon. The verb "source" is misleading, and I myself only discovered the wonders of {{PD-self}} a couple weeks ago (before that, I used the Creative Commons one, or abstained from uploading images at all). Think about it; he's not meaning to be lazy. He just thinks that because his images do not have a source, he does not need to source them. That's logical, but flawed. After all, how do you source something without a source? The answer was only given to him about twenty minutes ago. I suggest we look over the image policy. I see nothing in there that offers any explanation for what to do if the image is NOT copyrighted or taken from someplace else. I have spoken to him, and I hope to correct the flawed logic that he followed, as well as his temper. When I accidentally banned him, he had every right to be angry at me. From what he knew at the time (he started contributing to Star Wars Fanon, and I banned him for no reason!), there was definitely much to be angry about, and so I forgive him for calling me a jerk. And I never said I agreed with his methods of protest. I have already recommended a more civil reaction to such situations to him. I do not think what he has done breaches the civility policy outside of calling me a jerk, which was a single offense and reasonably justified based on what he knew. And he later apologized. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 02:10, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Very well, we can expand upon the image policy and further explain, in detail and through various "what if" explanations, what to do in case you are the creator of the image itself. However, I will remind you that just because he thinks doesn't have to "source" it just because he's the source, does not mean he shouldn't use the information template. Also, not all of the images were created by him. I saw an image that was taken from the Knights of the Old Republic video game, therefore he has to state a source (which he later did, but still no template). Now while I agree that he had every right to be angry, it doesn't mean he shouldn't act civil, by common sense and since it's one of our policies. You can't just go around parading "C3PO is a jerk! let it be known!" simply because you did something wrong on accident. And I'm glad you messaged him, and I do hope these "hostilities" end. I'd also like to remind you that I in no means wanted to start a "shutup" or "no you shutup!" argument, but if that's the way he wants to play, so be it. In the future he (and other new users) should read through our policies which are on the main page as well as (later) on his talk page- we tell them that on those pages (like the main page) but at times refuse to read them, taking a big risk. Most users think it's OK to just skip all the rules and start editing, and then when they break a rule and we (the Admins) notify them, through civil messages, they (although not always) react in a hostile manner and attempt to make (in this case) me look like I'm the big evil Jacen Solo trying to dictate his actions. Just letting you know, that I am a reasonable man, but if the user doesn't want to reason with me, then that's his problem that he'll have to face, such as this one, which we all hope is dropped. --Squishy Vic HoloNet 209 02:22, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

I am glad this worked out so far. I know you well enough by now, of course, to know that you don't ever intend to start any of the aforementioned "shutup" matches. I understand your play on his post just as I understand his motive to call me a jerk. And just so you know, you don't look like Jacen Solo. That's CurrentBigThing's role File:Rolleyes.gif. When you take sides I disagree with, I have always noted that you do so for good reasons, and I respect you very highly for that. This is why I approached you the way I did tonight; on the basis that you would see my reasoning and try to work out a compromise. I am glad we were able to reach one, and my positive hypotheses regarding your nature have been further supported.

To be fair, just as a recommendation for what we should do with the image policy, I suggest we should include a bit about what admins want. After all, as I explained to Belligerence, it isn't all about copyrights and a standard of quality. It's partially about keeping a system the admins can rely on to keep things in order, which, despite what CurrentBigThing has said in the past, I do care about. I think much of Belligerence's confusion is based on the premise, which is not contradicted anywhere in the image policy page, that the image policy exists solely to protect copyright law. While this is much of the case, it should be made clear that the requirement of the information template is universal BECAUSE it helps admins distinguish the good images from the bad much more efficiently. Now I need to go soon, so I wish you a good evening.

Do you like my new Avian Hunt composition? I was just working on adjusting the volume for some tracks and adding a bit of percussion before I caught this incident on Recent Changes. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 02:52, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, I was distracted by the Packers game. A shame that they lost. Anyway, I don't think I can listen to mid files, my computer won't let me. Might have something to do with the fact that I have a Mac. --Squishy Vic HoloNet 209 03:56, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Huh, my Mac plays midi files just fine. Actually, I think the Mac's synthesizer is rather higher quality than the PC's. Did you try using Quick Time? Try downloading it with Safari instead of Firefox. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 13:55, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Alright, I'll try with Safari. --Squishy Vic discussion archives 01:23, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Hm, I am currently listening to the track right now and I must say it's impressive. I like it, although to be honest, it doesn't sound like a Star Wars style theme. Sounds more like a Metroid or Fire Emblem theme. That's not bad, because the track is pretty good, but it just doesn't fit the Star Wars style, in my opinion. Still good. And yes, it worked with Safari (duh) and it opens with QuickTime. --Squishy Vic discussion archives 01:27, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] New charts

Hey, C3PO, check out the updated charts I drew up (with excel) for Star Wars Fanon's growth in Wikians and articles, as well as the number of edits per month from the start until now. Check them out at Star Wars Fanon, and tell me what you think. --Squishy Vic discussion archives 07:27, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, during the summer we reached 13,000 edits in the month of July, and since then we haven't really been up. And I do believe it's because of school, though probably some just forgot about us or lost interest. Anyway, yes, the data comes from the same charts. However, keep in mind that the article count is total Mainspace articles as the Wiki grew; the edit count is only per month, and remember that user/talk page edits, forum edits, image edits and project pages all count as edits therefore amounting to more than the amount of articles there are. --Squishy Vic discussion archives 22:45, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Spiffin' up the Archives...

Hey C3PO, just yesterday I developed the idea of expanding and detailing the RFA archive page, and I found a nice way to do it. As of now, it is still incomplete, but when you get this message it might be done. I basically detailed the results of each of our recorded SysOp elections thus far on the page, with information about the elections, "endorsements" (support votes), and the end results. Please let me know what you think, whenever you find the time. --Squishy Vic discussion archives 05:24, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Portal Projects

Hey 3PO, I've got a question. Since I wasn't really paying attention and/or around when Portal:Avian Hunt was created, I was wondering is there anything involved in creating a portal project/second main page thing like that in terms of approvals? I was thinking of doing one for my Alternative Saga, but since I was never really involved in anything like this I wanted to double check with you and see if it needed any sort of approvals. Thanks! File:Grin.gif - President Brandon Rhea (Pressroom) (Accomplishments) 21:01, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

I don't remember if there is an official policy, but Forum:Portals is where it started. The past times any portal was created there was some form of community consensus. If you want to put anything up, just propose something in the Senate Hall; usually the motive to create these is to attract and build a community, so a community needs to be around to start it. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 23:41, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Hmm, now that I think about it, the community collaboration angle is one thing I overlooked. Really, the only way the community would be able to really be involved is through reviewing Alternative Saga work, making suggestions for future stories and characters, etc. Granted, you're doing your game by yourself and the community work is for voices and testing, etc., so that doesn't really seem the same. Since I'm really the only one that would be actually writing Alternative Saga stuff, what would you suggest as a community collaboration effort involving it? The only thing I can think of is it'd be a means of getting people to review other people's work, but I'm not sure. I'd appreciate any suggestions you can give me. - President Brandon Rhea (Pressroom) (Accomplishments) 03:36, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

I'll try to think of something... is it too narcissistic to have fanfictions for fanfictions? --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 19:44, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Do you mean like having people writing stories within my Alternative Saga? - President Brandon Rhea (Pressroom) (Accomplishments) 21:23, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Perhaps... I'm still brainstorming, but that was the first thing that came to mind, followed immediately by "Wow, fanfictions of fanfictions, I need to get more sleep at night!" Perhaps if you could find enough authors who are willing to help you rewrite everything in Star Wars, which is certainly an ambitious goal, it could be done. I know for a fact you've accepted ideas from other users before, so it could be possible to turn ASWS into a community project. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 23:27, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Hmm, I'd have to give that some serious thought if I was ever going to do that, assuming you mean people actually helping me WRITE things. In terms of crafting a story, that's something totally different and I'm cool with that. - President Brandon Rhea (Pressroom) (Accomplishments) 00:08, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Hey I took a look at your latest updates for Avian Hunt, and I have to say, it looks amazing, and I can't wait to play it, I love the 3D models as well, to be frank, they look like staight from a Lego Video game, a good one to:P But I can't wait to have a go at it, I've been waiting soooo long to play it, well thanks for your comment on my game, I am finie tuning what you said should be done, well see you around. And when will we know if we get to test the alpha Avian Hunt? TaderTalk 19:25, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Since there are three applicants, I don't see why I should reject anyone who signed up. I'm delaying the first alpha release so I can finish rewriting the flight engine, and if it stalls (forgive the pun) until April, I might further delay it so I can get a Mac version for Vic to test. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 21:46, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] SysOp Election dilemma

Hey C3PO, when you last responded at Forum:SysOp Election dilemma you seem like you ended up a bit confused about my proposal. I clarified things for you on the forum in order to clarify things (well, duh) and you never responded again, so please let me know your standpoint on the proposal/idea. Thanks. --Squishy Vic discussion archives 03:54, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Ah, I had read that, and had thought "okay, well that makes more sense," and decided (with my inferior internet connection when sending data to the internet) that it would be too much of a hassle to type a one-sentence response just to register that I had read what you said. I believe my Mac was tied up (the family iMac using a different, more powerful router than the PC) when I read that, and then forgot to respond once I did get a chance to use my Mac. Anyway, the proposal works for me, the assumption that dividing the vote eliminates opportunity for opposition put down, this proposal makes sense. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 19:17, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Vandals

Then I'll add the Blocking policy onto my list of policies to clean up, since we'll need to clarify the part about vulgar vandalism leading to an infinite ban. As for the anti-gay thing, I'd say "faggotory convention" and Army Chief of Homo is fairly anti-gay. - President Brandon Rhea (Pressroom) (Accomplishments) 03:10, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

I know what you're saying, hence adding the clarification of the Blocking policy onto my list of things to do. lol Still, I can understand someone saying that they were on an AOL IP, so I definately see what you're saying. That "my brother did it" excuse doesn't fly with me, since 99.99999% of the people who say that are liars trying to weasel their way out of a ban. Maybe TempMan was telling the truth? I don't know, but I'd be very suspicious and uneasy about allowing someone to remain on the site with that reasoning. - President Brandon Rhea (Pressroom) (Accomplishments) 15:44, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
We were suspicious, and it wouldn't have flown with us if it had been a newcomer. But TempMan was the first one to seriously help the site. He is responsible for much of the first policies, help page, and he greeted all new users. By the time the vandalism started, we all trusted him to some degree, but that doesn't mean his IP wasn't blocked at all. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 16:37, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Collaboration

Hey C3, I saw a couple of templates on peoples pages saying This User won the Best Collaborative author award, alongside blah blah blah, and I'm guessing that, due to the meaning of collaboration, it's an article where two people work together. How does this work? I'd appreciate it if you could tell me. Also, please can you tell me how to archive a talk page, as mine is getting quite long. Do I just move the current User talk:Darth tom to User talk:Darth tom Archive 1? Thanks. Darth tom Chit 'n' Chat 16:56, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

A collaboration is an informal mutual agreement between two users that allows either user to work together on an article. It doesn't take a special process; just ask someone if they want to work on something with you, and if the reply affirms the agreement, then you can get to work.
An archive of a page is when you move your talk page to a subpage: "User talk:<insert name here>/archive" and then clear the redirect, and start out with a blank talk page. Just click the move tab at the top of the page and type in the name of the archive. Then go back to your talk page, wipe the redirect, and put a link to the archive. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 17:11, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Feature article

Hey 3PO, I wanted to offer you the chance to write a Feature article (no, not Featured Article, lol) for my website, which has just come back online, about Avian Hunt. I thought it'd be cool to get a piece on a massive fan undertaking like yours, but I can't guarantee how many people will immediately see it. I'm going to be pimping it, as my website designer likes to say, on a lot of different sites and I'm going to be trying to get TheForce.Net to talk about some of the bigger stuff, which would include your Aviant Hunt game. If you do an article like this, it'd basically be something of an overview of what you do as the leader of the project, what your goals are and what the final product will be like (all written in a proper, cohesive format, of course). Obviously by feature article, I don't just mean a straight up news story. This would be a more opinionated article and would be written like your personality. For example, a regular news article would be like "Darth Bane 3 announced", whereas the editorial thing would be like "C3PO reviews Darth Bane: Rule of Two". I'm sure you get what I mean. If you're interested, let me know and let me know if you have any questions about what I'm looking for. - President Brandon Rhea (Pressroom) (Record) 04:49, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

This sounds like something I could do. Could you give me more information on what exactly I should do (when do you want it, how I should submit it, how long it should be, format, etc.)? --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 18:06, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Well, the articles should really be in five parts -

  1. Intro
  2. Summary
  3. Analysis
  4. Personal thoughts/opinions
  5. Closing

That can be formatted however you'd like, and as for how long it should be that's up to you. Really, it's however long you think it needs to be to get the point across about the project. As for when I want it, preferably within the next week if you can do that. It'll then probably be another day or so after that when it's posted, because every feature article needs to be edited to make sure all the grammar, spelling, etc. is perfect and all that. - President Brandon Rhea (Pressroom) (Record) 18:45, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Okay, I'll start working on it. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 00:26, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

You can either email it to me at philyeagles92873@yahoo.com or you can create a temp article here and I can just copy and paste it. Whichever is easier for you. - President Brandon Rhea (Pressroom) (Record) 18:13, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Click here. If you'd like to send me two or three screenshots for certain parts of the article, go ahead. - President Brandon Rhea (Pressroom) (Record) 00:38, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] IRC

Hey C3, would you be able to come onto the IRC at 21:00 UTC? I have some questions if that's alright with you. Only if you're free, of course. Thanks. My page iChat What I've done 20:05, 25 March 2008 (UTC) 19:28, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] April Fools

"No longer April 1" - that depends on how you define April 1st. In the future, remember that just because the date changes where you live doesn't mean the date has changed everywhere. Also, I always do the FA updates, so by reverting my edits to the FA template you sent it back by a few months. - President Brandon Rhea (Pressroom) (Record) 00:21, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Meet a User

Hello, it's me, Darth tom, I was just wondering, would it be ok if I used you as the meet a user in the next CUSWFN? I won't get round to writing it for a bit, but I just wanted to clear this outta the way. Also, do you still want people to test Avian Hunt? I won't be able to reply for a bit, I don't know how long, as I have limited access to a PC at the mo, however I was just interested. Thanks. 81.13.218.252 15:14, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

It seems fine with me. And yes, I can still use another tester. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 16:41, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
  • OK, thanks. I'd like to be a tester, if that's OK, however I won't be able to do anything until Monday, when I return. 81.13.218.252 19:53, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Avian Hunt test application

  1. OK, well I enjoy playing video games, however I don't get completely obsessed with them. If I have a good, new game, I maybe play on it for, I don't know, one or two hours a day.
  2. My favourite genres? Hm... well, I quite like shoot 'em ups, however I also enjoy adventure sorta quest kinda games.
  3. OK, I really like KOTOR I and KOTOR II, however I also love Halo Combat Evolved and Halo 2. (I wish I had Halo 3!)
  4. I think that a good storyline plays a key part in a good game, as does good gameplay. I also think that graphics are pretty important, and I like games like KOTOR, where you choose what to do.

OK, so that's about it! Is that ok, and, if so, what do I do now? P.S. Is it OK if I don't do you as the CUSWFN meet a user? Only, I saw that you've already been the Meet a User, and people will get bored if I just repeat old stuff. I'm really sorry, but is that OK? My page iChat What I've done 20:05, 25 March 2008 (UTC) 18:09, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

(to the PS) Yes, that's okay. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 17:14, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

What exactly do you do with CUSWFN media? I looked at the page and it wasn't entirely clear to me. It it's a review, a description, or something like that, I have no problem with you using it. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 18:39, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Persistent vandalism

Thanks for deleting that vandalism. That vandal is so irritating. I already asked Angela to perform a checkuser to block the vandal, and she successfully blocked an open proxy, but as we saw last night he/she's at it again. I already notified Angela, so hopefully this problem is taken care of for good. --Victor Dorantes (discussion) (contributions) 16:22, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Categorization

Hey 3PO, I'm going through some articles that are not properly categorized and found Series 0 TIE Bomber. Figured I would let you know so it doesn't get blasted. - President Brandon Rhea (Pressroom) (Record) 01:26, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

I don't see anything wrong with it. I double-checked the categorization policy, and it doesn't say anything that rejects the categorization that's there. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 02:02, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Portal

Hey C3, for a Portal, do you need the community to vote for it? Because Brandon said something about you saying that the community needed to vote for it. If so, where should I place such a request. The Consensus Track? Thanks. My page iChat What I've done 20:05, 25 March 2008 (UTC) 08:16, 8 April 2008 (UTC) 19:02, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your Right!

I saw your vote. I changed the 200 edits to partake in the event. Your idea is great! I just want to see the community of Star Wars Fanon come together and clean up what is so despretly calling for our attention. I have actually (a couple days ago) got rid of all uncategorised articles in the things to do category. I think you should post something like a target to get fix up articles with spelling mistakes. Your much smarter than me and because your well respected they will give it a chance. I just want those articles fixed! I cant do it on my own!--Arav the Undersith (Contact Me) (Battles I've Fought). 23:28, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Project Cruentus

Your knowledge would be helpful in this situation.

We'd like to invite you to become a part of Project Cruentus! Your articles have been of such good quality, we'd like to ask you to write some in the project!

Whilst I realise that, as an admin, you're very busy, if you ever wanted to join in, we'd love it! My page iChat What I've done 06:56, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Avian Hunt

OK, C3, I have two questions. Firstly: How will I be notified when the Avian Hunt test version comes out? Secondly, we had a last minute switch with the CUSWFN Media, and Brandon suggested we use an Avian Hunt article from his site, written by you. We've put it in CUSWFN, I hope you don't mind. My page iChat What I've done 06:52, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

If possible, I'll notify you by email. I've done a rewrite of the engine this week, and I'm working on adding a new terrestrial terrain (by Brandon's suggestion in IRC, I'm adding the Corellian sea). Once that's done, I'll probably either upload it in the Demo section of Yoyogames, or find a free hosting service to post it. Of course I don't mind having the article on CUSWFN; I'm glad some of my efforts have helped out another community collaboration. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 12:25, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Meet a User

Many Users who have been a Meet a User in the old CUSWFN have requested if they could be one in this CUSWFN. If you'd like to, which I hope you do, I hope you don't mind answering some questions? Here they are:

  1. When did you first join SWFanon?
    • I first joined Star Wars Fanon around May 2006, but it was in June 2006 when I first started editing.
  2. How many FA's and GA's have you made?
    • I believe I only made two that were ever featured, but I'm sure at least one has been demoted to a Formerly. I don't nominate my own articles for recognition, which is part of the reason I have written so few that are recognized on the Main Page.
  3. When did you become a Decreton Lord?
    • Back when the Decretion Lords were first started, (around spring 2007 or so, I believe) the community got together, partly on IRC, and partly on the Senate Hall and Consensus Track, to discuss ways we can choose FAs to be those of the highest quality. While I was a voice in the community in creating the new system, I was not present at the IRC meeting that decided who would be part of the board. I accepted the offer on my talk page.
  4. When and why did you leave the Decreton Lord's?
    • I left the DLs when I was accused of being lazy on the job, an accusation that was partially true. The other half of my inefficiency, though, was because I worked a bit too hard on each individual article, reading over the whole thing, checking the standards, and surveying related articles. My efforts to not be lazy made each vote a looming task, which turned on my goal and made me lazy. While I am eager to read new articles on Star Wars Fanon at my liberty, I found that analyzing them; making sure they subjectively met the standards, was a sort of task that my right-brained self was not best suited for. Realizing that I was chosen because of my strength in the community, and not because of my ability to critique efficiently and perfectionistically (a word whose existence I am unsure of), I withdrew from the board to make way for someone to be elected democratically, based on appropriate skills, and not popularity.
  5. When did you become an administrator?
    • I was one of the first administrators of Star Wars Fanon, besides StarNeptune (who was perceived by some as a Wookieepedian overseer, as she had written but one article) and Neomessiah, who was mysteriously inactive since long before the present community was formed. I was appointed by the Wikia staff along with Bub and Jedi Master 76.
  6. When did you become a Supreme Chancellor?
    • A few months after the first admins were appointed (not elected), it was agreed that we should hold elections for bureaucrats, now sometimes called "Supreme Chancellors." The only real candidates were myself and Jedi Master 76, as Bub withdrew his name from the ballot. I won by a more-than-slim margin over Jedi Master 76, which I believe was because I had the overwhelming support of the relative newcomers. It was the first time we ever had a real election, rather than an appointment.
  7. What do you feel are your most valuable contributions to the wiki?
    • Everything I've done to help the community. My articles, like most on the site, were made not in the interest of Star Wars Fanon, but in the interest of the story. Therefore, I think my place in the website is to help the website. I voice my opinion (often in the form of an excruciatingly long essay) on all of the consensus topics and policymaking that I consider important, and I will continue to do so. But everything I've done is hard to weigh in terms of value to the wiki. What the wiki strives for is to be a place where anyone can publish their own Star Wars stories, but secondary goals include quality of content, amount of content, strength of the community, recognition as a legitimate Star Wars community, and notoriety. I consider some of these secondary goals to be a distraction from our primary purpose, but of course the utopian Star Wars Fanon will have all of these and more.
  8. What was your first FA and your first GA?
    • I don't know if I ever had a GA (my articles were recognized as FAs before we had GAs), but my first FA was Owen Kenobi, Jr.
  9. Where do you get your inspiration from?
    • Everything, or, to be more specific, anything. Invention is all about breaking things apart and putting building blocks together. Our mortal mimicry of "creation" consists of altering the purpose of basic materials to serve a new purpose. Advocacy, which could occasionally describe what I often do in the Senate Hall and Consensus Track forums, is about exposing where chains lead, and forging new connections when needed. If you're asking for a recommendation for accelerating the process of dreaming up possible connections, I would say you should take up joking. Comedy at its finest is funny because its true, so naturally we learn the most subtle and somber truths from joking around.
  10. And anything else you would like or would care to tell us about yourself.
    • I am an inclusionist. I believe in fixing what's broken rather than throwing it away. I've joined this wiki with the resolve that once I could graduate from "noob" status I would work to help newcomers learn to be a part of this wiki. I believe that serving the community, helping our newest members, and showing respect for everyone and their work is essential to creating the utopian wiki I mentioned in question 7. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 19:34, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Please remove this article...

I'm sorry if this is not a good place for this. I just looked for an admin. :)

Anyway, this article is a blatant rip-off of this article, and while it has been here for some time, I was performing a search today on something almost completely irrelevant and it popped up. Needless to say, not only did the creator of the article suddenly hop on my "people to dislike" list, but it also clearly violates your policies. Also, I can personally attest that all the other articles the user made also follows that same guideline. So, plese be so kind to remove them. Thanks in advance. --Cadden Blackthorne 00:00, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Avian Hunt test

OK, thanks for the link, now I tell you what I thought. File:Tongue.gif Also, may we write an article for it in CUSWFN? Anyway, here goes.

  1. Firstly, here comes music:
  • I think that the music you used was very good, generated a good sense of atmosphere, and I liked the way you could change the music. I think that a good job was done with the music.
  1. Graphics:
Well, what can I say? I wasn't expecting KOTOR, as you're using a relatively basic game engine, but with that, you managed to make the graphics pretty fantastic considering your resources. I particularly liked the planet graphics of Mustafar and Tattooine, and I think they were very well made.
If I was to tell you to improve on anything, it'd be to work on the graphics of the ship. I realize you're using a limited game engine, and that it is hard, but you've already done a great job, but I think you can push yourself to a brilliant job.
  2. Gameplay:
First off, I was a bit pessimistic about the controls. I was wondering about the controls being letters towards the top of the keyboard, where you have to reach, instead of the mouse or the arrow keys, and I found it pretty difficult at first. However, pretty soon I got used to it, and I think the controls worked well. If this, in later versions, does get more complicated, I would suggest changing the shoot button to the spacebar, as the directional controls are quite far away from the mouse button, but I don't think that's a major problem.
Secondly, the instructions gave us no indication of what to do. My main problem is that the instructions never said 'Blast the Imperials right outta the sky!' or anything, and I can only think you're working upon this. If there was meant to be some sort of gameplay instructions, this is something you need to work on, if there wasn't supposed to be all well and good, but this is something you should consider for later versions.
You've said this isn't ready yet, but I would like to see it being able to change ships, or ship colour or something. I believe you're planning on this for later versions.
  3. Storyline:
    N/A
  4. Overall:
Well, overall, I think you did a brilliant job, considering the resources you were faced with. I've stated my improvement points, but I'd say that, considering the stage you're at, the good points outweigh the areas for improvement, and it was a very well made, enjoyable game, which CUSWFN would love to continue sponsoring and would love to feature in a later edition of CUSWFN. May we? My page iChat What I've done 07:22, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for the feedback, Tom. The controls, which you noted, are going to be changed to the mouse in the next version. I don't have anything for you to shoot simply because I'm still working on my 3D collision scripts, which will take an uncertain amount of time. The graphics for the ship, however, probably won't be updated. Of course, I am going to add a selection of different color schemes, but I don't intend to increase detail all too much, the reason being that Game Maker executables run relatively slow on my computer and I need to squeeze every ounce of frames per second out of the engine that I can, and simpler textures are a small step towards that end. You are very right about changing ships, fighting enemies, etc. They will all be added in the next version. If I get the collision scripts done soon, then I will add some targets that a player can shoot before I update to version 2.0. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 18:38, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Okey dokey. The images are below. And, for the frame thing: Well, I imagine I probably had MSN up, probably the SWRP and Star Wars Fanon (probably in separate windows) and maybe anogther site also, and the frame rate didn't exceed 15. Okay, that's what it looked like on the school's computer. What it SHOULD have looked like was a flat stretch of sand under a blue sky, but for some reason the vertices don't mesh on other computers. I am only doing this for no apparent reason, I would just like you to see if that type of game might be something worth pursuing. Well good luck on AVH, its been fun playing my friends have enjoyed it, and think that the flight engine is great, and the actual game will be amazing! Hmm, come to think of it, my articles have become more difficult to track down. You could check User:C3PO the Dragon Slayer#My Favorite Contributions: for a few of my older articles, and most of everything would be linked from those. Otherwise, you could just scroll through Special:Contributions/C3PO the Dragon Slayer to look for my stuff. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 12:47, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Using SC tools

Hey 3PO, since in a few days we're going to have two new Admins, I'd like to be the one to promote them just so I can know how to use the powers that come with being a Supreme Chancellor. The only problem is...I don't know how. Care to fill me in? lol - President Brandon Rhea (Pressroom) (Record) 02:34, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image request

Hey Threepio. I have a simple request and nothing more, so I hope you don't feel as I'm pushing you. Anyway, as you know, I wrote the RFA archive page and as you can see there, there are images of the candidates that have had an RFA or have been nominated (mostly the latter). So far though, there are images of only myself, Darth tader (the most recent addition), Brandon Rhea, CurrentBigThing, and Jasca Ducato. You are one of the candidates on that page, but you were actually one of the appointed admins rather than a "candidate". So basically, my request is if you could please upload an image of yourself (at best a headshot) for the archives? If not, that is perfectly understandable; I know some people prefer their privacy and I know some people might not be allowed to do so, and therefore either a yes or no is fine with me. Like I said, this is just a request, to make the archive a bit more filled and more professional. If not, don't worry about it. Thanks for reading and please get back to me ASAP. :) —Victor, Sr. «discussion» 03:49, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

I'll have to consider this. Not that I consider myself a bad-looking guy or anything, but the reason I have specifically refrained from posting any images of myself under the C3PO the Dragon Slayer pseudonym (as opposed to my real name, which I don't think has ever appeared on Star Wars Fanon or any related sites) is to let everyone's impressions of me be built up completely by what I put here. It's an experiment, you see, to tell what happens if a completely anonymous guy builds a reputation from the ground up, with nobody and nothing other than his own posts and contributions to give other users an idea of who he is. If I decide to end this experiment, declare success, and show my face, I'd have to actually make a picture, so I'd need to borrow a digital camera (or use the one on my MacBook), etc. So if I upload an image in the future and put in in there, you have your pic. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 01:43, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Hunt Game

Can I help woth the Video Game? I'm best with making the story, but I only have 6.0. What can I do or can I just pray that it works? This is also on the Hunt's talk page... I'm pretty good with glitches too. Jonn1234 13:09, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Name changes

Hey, I wanted to get the opinion of you and the other Administrators on something. Considering we're having a few discussions lately on how there is really no sense of community involvement around here, I believe that it would be in our best interests to get rid of the title "Cabal" and restore it to the proper title of "Administrators". Truth be told, I've never liked the name Cabal and I've made that public before, but I bit my tongue and ignored it. I don't really want to do that anymore. Why am I suggesting this? It's simple. As Administrators, we stand out more than we are supposed to. It's making us seem like we're authority figures or leaders on this site. We as Administrators are not supposed to be this way. We're not meant to be able to assert authority over anyone. We're supposed to be the same as normal users, only entrusted with the ability to have certain administrative tools; nothing more, nothing less. I believe that in the eyes of many users, based on things that have been said and my own perceptions, we look too much like the dictators of this Wiki. I think the title "Cabal" helps with this as it scares people off and basically just rubs them the wrong way about us. We don't want to look like a secret collective of power holders plotting in a back room to ensure that our authority is not vanquished. We are just supposed to have editing tooks. Therefore, as said, I propose that we restore the name "Administrator" as the proper name of our titles. Also, as you and I are the only two "Supreme Chancellors", I was also wondering if you would be in favor of restoring the proper title of "Bureaucrat" for our position for the same reasons. Please let me know whether or not you agree with this. Thanks, and I look forward to hearing back from you! - Brandon Rhea (talk) (contribs) 22:27, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Considering, in Star Wars context, it implies that we might be planning to corrupt the most powerful showoff in the league of telekinetic peacekeepers, kill the rest, and seize ultimate authority while distributing power to regional governors, Supreme Chancellor is a much more fun name to have than Cabal lol. I think Bureaucrat also has an interesting context if you've actually paid attention to the political droning in The Phantom Menace, so that's not really an argument either way. Considering there are two of us, though (not counting Neomessiah), I think "Bureaucrat" is more suitable. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 20:58, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] image

can you make images? I am in need of one, and no one has responded to my request on the fanon cantina. Darth Taikin(Talk to me) (My work)(Become a Jedi) 19:05, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

My image editing experience is somewhat limited. While I can make pretty good 2-D sprites for Game Maker, those are usually less than 100px width. After searching for a few ways to make such an image, I found this program which is free and pretty good at making lightsaber effects on pictures and videos. You can just take a picture from here and use the LSMaker to put on the dual-bladed lightsaber. Hope that helps. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed File:Sabersmilyc3po.jpg 20:08, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Models

I use Strata 3D CX on Macintosh, but at college. I don't have the software here at home unfortunately and therefore cannot model at home (I wish I could). Anyway, what problems? Are your models rendering poorly? Well, Strata 3D costs money so I won't be getting it anytime soon, but I know that a program titled Blender is a free, downloadable 3D modeling program. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to use it. It's much, much different from Strata 3D. Anyway, that's what I use. All of my models are built from scratch using the tools at my disposal (my favorite being a combination of the pen tool and reshape tool, so much can be done with just those two), and the skins are downloaded from the internet if necessary or created from scratch on Photoshop (which I have access to at school and home). If you need any help, let me know, and I hope all that helps. --Victortalk 02:28, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Wassup?

Hey. Umm... First question: Is Heir to the Empire the sequel to Return of the Jedi a.k.a. the seventh part in the series? Second but not least (trust me): Could there be a possibility that someone (me in particular) create a seventh movie in book form? Darth Craetor 04:18, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

While Heir to the Empire is one of the better books that take place after Return of the Jedi, there are many novels in between Episode VI and the Thrawn Trilogy. Yes, there absolutely is a possibility that you may create a movie in novel form. Brandon Rhea, the site's other bureaucrat, is writing his own Episode I, and there's no reason you can't make your own Episode VII. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed 13:52, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Would Return of the Sith be a good name for Episode VII? Darth Craetor 02:30, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

That's really up to you, but it just so happens that someone else (a user named Wikimaniac) had created an Episode VII a couple years ago with that very same name. The article in question is one of the reasons Wikimaniac was eventually banned, as its content was disturbing at places. Just a small warning that someone might think of Wikimaniac if you name it that, but I'll try to sway any negativity it that happens. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed 02:39, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Just to be fair in that regard (sorry for butting in), Return of the Sith is also a title I thought of once YEARS ago for Episode VII. It's a pretty common title, so you wouldn't need to worry about Wikimaniac too much. - Brandon Rhea (talk) (contribs) 02:41, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Sweet, thanks, but one more question. I know I asked this on Xepeyon's page, but so I can get started, do you have to buy art on DeviantArt.com to place it on here? Darth Craetor 03:00, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

I've never used DeviantArt, but I'm guessing not. You do have to source any images you acquire from there, however. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed 19:53, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Wiki Awards Hosting nomination

I see nothing that says I can't do this. I suppose you can put my name up, but JM76 and Solus are both at least as great candidates as I am. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed 19:53, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

November, 2008
The Completely Unofficial Star Wars Fanon Newsletter

Volume Edition XIX - November, 2008

Hello, C3PO the Dragon Slayer, and, once more, the CUSWFN is here
to greet you right at your doorstep, for November, 2008!

[edit] What's new in CUSWFN

Written by Drewton

Welcome to another edition of CUSWFN! In the last edition, there was a change in leadership, and again there's a change of leadership in this month's edition. Darth tom, an administrator, member of the Council of Seers, member of Project Cruentus, and long-time editor of CUSWFN announced has resignation from the newsletter. I'm remaining but another co-head is currently has been chosen in the elections, and Unit 8311 has won!

In this edition, we also have three separate reviews for the new video game, book, and comic: The Force Unleashed, written by Squishy Vic, MPK, and I, as well as a review of the old Clone Wars cartoon by 8311 to coincide with the release of the CG series.. MPK and I present the positive points of the projects, while Squishy Vic gives criticism for it. Arav the Undersith has created a new IRC interview section in CUSWFN, with this weeks topic about Star Wars Fanon in general. Other new features, such as Modal Nodes Club and Picture of the Week continue.

[edit] Darth AT-AT

The article is no longer a junk article. Look at it. Please tell the others who voted to delete it. It is not a good article. But it is not a joke article. Look at it now. Please tell the others and reconsider your vote. Thank you. Mattkenn3 Talk 01:46, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

While there is little in the article that can be taken as a joke, I'm afraid I'm going to have little success convincing everyone else that AT-AT is a good Sith name. Yes, since "Darth Maul", it has been customary to name Sith Lords for fearsome things, and AT-ATs are certainly fearsome, but there are a few blindingly exotic things about using the name "AT-AT" for a Sith Lord that it's hard to believe it's not a joke:
  1. It's an acronym.
  2. It stands for "All Terrain Attack Transport" &mdash which doesn't sound like a good name for a Sith.
  3. It is a reference to a fleeting terror, which the galaxy recognizes for all but a couple decades, whereas most Sith names that are modeled after an English or Latin term are transcendent of time. Even "Krayt", the stupidest Sith name I've ever seen, is something more permanent than a line of Imperial tanks.
Your best shot at saving that article is just blatantly changing the name, because despite all the effort that can and has been put into saving it is not nearly as noticeable as the outstandingly implausible name, which leads any stressed admin who is rushed to clear some Special page or another to decide that it is a joke. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed 19:41, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Darth AT-AT

Its not against the rules in anyway and I could care less about how someone else feels about the name. I already have a story with the name in it and the story was already made, the error is whoever proposed the article as a joke, not mine, it's not a joke and you now know it as everyone else does. Hope you don't take what I said the wrong way. Darth Void (Talk) 21:45, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Plan

Ols from the SWRP had an idea regarding Vukure's endless socks, which I'm now proposing to you. The idea was that we tell George Skywalker to make sure his brother stops sockpuppeting, or we ban the IP. If his brother can't stop him being a sockpuppet, no one can. Bac, myself, CBT and Solus have agreed to the idea, but it's administrator consensus I need, which includes you. Please get back to me before the end of the week, when I go with the then current consensus. :) -- (talk) (contributions) 19:17, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

That's a pretty good idea. I'll go along with it. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed 19:36, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Hello Hello

Hello There 3P0! I thought I should drop by, I don't see much updates for Avian Hunt on the news, it's one of the few things I check up on, when I log on here once a month;P Well yes, I am still into Game Maker, I am succeeding on my Strategy Games, I have created one where you are the Americans trying to defeat the Soviets in a Cold War setting. Well I was just coming to check up on you, so how are you? And if I may make this one simple request, to reply on my talk page, I set email notification finally, so if you reply here, I will not get a little memo, thus I will forget to log on and reply in a timely matter:P TaderTalk 01:40, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Hey tader. Avian Hunt is still being worked on; I've just been working more on the script and the programming more than the public awareness. File:Smile.gif I'd like to see what you've done with GM; it sounds like an interesting game you're making! --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed 02:36, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Well my graphics aren't superb, but enough to make it by, it's just a top down view, I never fully grasped 3D stuff that well. Well the script looks great! When do you plan a release? TaderTalk 20:00, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Hey, I'm a Nintendo freak; don't get all worried about my assessment of the graphics File:Smile.gif. I'm at this very moment upgrading the Avian Hunt engine to allow multiple ships in combat! I now have everything I have in the first demo in Ultimate 3D, except for ship textures (I'm still working on an easy way to texture them), but I also have cool terrain (that you actually respond to if you crash into it!), mouse controls (a big feat), and lighting, which vastly improves the graphics. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed 20:41, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Wow, sorry I didn't get an email saying you replied to my talk page:P so late reply, well thats awesome! I can't wait to play it, hows the loading time? and in game speed? TaderTalk 01:26, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for starting the "We keep talking of 'reform' and such" Forum! I've been trying to say the same thing, but everyone either laughed at me or ignored me. Thanks for bringing this to the community's attention

Many thanks,

Darth Taikin(Talk to me) (My work)(Become a Jedi) 14:39, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] What's new in CUSWFN

Written by Unit 8311

Welcome to another issue of CUSFWN. In today's issue, we have more stuff to present to you, from interviews with profific authors on this site such as Brandon Rhea, CurrentBingThing, Darth tom, and others. As before, we've strived to have an extensive SWF media section, with essays and reviews from the likes of myself, Drewton, and MPK. Expect plenty to keep you occupied there.

We'll also have news, as usual, covering recent events such as the The Fourth Wiki Awards, the status of Project Cruentus, and other events on the wiki. We'll also take the opportunity to wish you a happy new year (a few weeks late, yes), and prosperous writing.

I will also take the opportunity to apologise for the somewhat late arrival; however, due Christmas and New Year interfering, I hope you'll all understand.

[edit] Independent Bureaucrats

Just so you know, you can now demote sysops by using Special:UserRights (see this). This means that bureaucrats like yourself don't need Wikia to demote retired sysops anymore. Unfortunately, this means that bureaucrats on other wikis may use this as an excuse to promote users carelessly. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 19:55, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] I owe you an apology

I was bored and was monitoring the Admistrator talk pages (I find it somewhat entertaining) and came to the section regaurding the Deletion of Darth AT-AT, a character I created and it said this exactly "Its not against the rules in anyway and I could care less about how someone else feels about the name. I already have a story with the name in it and the story was already made, the error is whoever proposed the article as a joke, not mine, it's not a joke and you now know it as everyone else does. Hope you don't take what I said the wrong way." and I would just like to say that I am sorry for having typed that, I find it absolutly terrifying that I can type something like that.I handled the situation completly wrong and I took my anger out on you, I am Sorry and I hope you accept my apology for typing that. [edit] Special CASWFN Edition

April 1, 2009
The Completely ALTERNATIVE Star Wars Fanon Newsletter

Volume 1, Edition 1 - April, 2009

Greetings, mortals comrade citizens of the Star Wars Fanon community. We have here for you a very special message.

[edit] Friends, fanonites, countrymen, lend me your ears…er, eyes…whatever…just run the tape

Welcome to another issue of CUSWFN CASWFN, delivered fresh to your user talk page/subpage for April, 2009! Inside this issue, we have a interview with Solus, as well as a picture of the day, fanon updates, Star Wars merchandise page, Star Wars Fanon news, FA/GA updates, and user comments. In other words, everything that this publication should normally have, but usually doesn't, or doesn't have to the satisfaction of the majority (or at least a vocal minority) of the readers. However, first we have a special address from the editor for the main newsletter page:

By now, you've probably realized that this issue is not part of the CUSWFN, nor is it written by the usual culprits. No, instead we got tired of waiting around for the *actual* CUSWFN and decided to make our own, special one-issue-only release. We're not sure what happened to the actual heads. Word has it one of them is busy with the Communist party and the other is playing with children's toys. Please direct all complaints to them and not us. Especially since we're not revealing our names. In fact, we just conned Ataru into uploading this for us because he's a convenient fall guy.

As such, this issue is labeled the CASWFN, the Completely Alternative Star Wars Fanon Newsletter, due to the fact that it is not part of the standard newsletter. And, since it's not part of that mess, we felt that we could take a few more creative liberties with the content. As such, there is no compunction for us to be as serious in this issue, so you might find the content a bit more satirical. The date of this release also has something to do with that. Our goal is both provide a level of humor and content missing from CUSWFN issues, and frankly, to have fun with this publication. We hope you'll enjoy this special release of CASWFN, and remember, if you've been wishing you got more issues of the usual newsletter, talk to the normal heads.

Welcome to the twenty-first edition of the Completely Unofficial Star Wars Fanon Newsletter! In this edition, CUSWFN receives another design change. This time, the width has been adjusted. Images are now used in the headers, and are different for each section. In addition to the design change, CUSWFN News had been removed, along with the Modal Nodes Club. However, good news must come with bad: co-editor Drewton has been forced to resign, leaving Unit 8311 as the sole editor. Check up soon to see if a new editor will be chosen. Otherwise, feel free to judge for yourself if this has been for the better or worse.

The winners of the Star Wars Fanon Awards are shown in SWF News, along with various other Wiki events in recent times, including unfortunate resignations, Copyright Crusades, and, of course, the upcoming Great Fanon Purge, which has poorly written articles across the site trembling in their grammatically questionable shoes. In Fanon Updates, new details are revealed for all of the newsletter's sponsored works, as well as Project Cruentus. Finally, the new character Cad Bane is analysed in the Star Wars Media section, and MPK has written an essay regarding a supposed myth from the game The Force Unleashed.

We have also asked some community members to pick a Picture of the Week. You will find the winner to that here. If you don't care about the Academy Awards anymore since The Dark Knight was snubbed, you may be interested in the Fourth Star Wars Fanon Wiki Awards, the results of which are also shown here. Hopefully, this will be the best edition of CUSWFN yet!

We would also like to point out that if you get put off by some of the content in this issue, we'd like to direct you to the Chris Rock School of Facetiousness Recognition.

[edit] What's new in CUSWFN

Written by Unit 8311

Hello, and welcome to another edition of CUSWFN, the first to be hosted purely by Unit 8311 alone. Having put an end to the previous elongated procrastination of past editions, this week we bring you large quantities of news from the wiki, an amazing picture in the POTW section, and more. No more do you have to wait literally months for this to appear on your talk page. What you will find inside is up-to-date and (hopefully) of interesting topic. My old co-editor, Drewton, will be sorely missed, but now you can finally decide if his deparature was for better or worse.

News and writing in this essay will include an essay regarding Knights of the Old Republic by MPK, news regarding the upcoming purge of articles, Project Cruentus developments, and other such items. As usual, we have our customary reviews of articles featured on the main page.

Incidentally, if you have any essays, opinional pieces, or images you'd otherwise like us to showcase, feel free to contact myself and put forward your stuff. We want to maximise the quality of this newsletter, and if we can combine good writing from the standard editor and masterwork from yourself, we can truely boast that this will be the start of a great era for the newsletter.

Otherwise, enjoy what's inside, comment on it if you must, and have fun.

Edition XXII

[edit] CUSWFN – Edition 23

Welcome to the twenty-third edition of the Star Wars Fanon wiki’s very own Completely Unofficial Star Wars Fanon Newsletter! For this twenty-third edition, we welcome a new co-editor, Brandon Rhea, to the team! He will be working alongside long-time editor Unit 8311 to bring you the best quality news about the wiki and fan fiction, as well as editorials and opinions essays about Star Wars works, that this wiki has to offer. A little bit of trivia information is that Rhea, along with fellow Star Wars Fanon user Victor Dorantes, has served as the co-editor of the newsletter once before, but he and Dorantes resigned before releasing an issue due to other commitments that required their attention. We are happy that he has returned to us once again!

In this edition, you will be able to learn new exclusive information about fan works such as the Squishy Vic Series and Avian Hunt, as well as read news about other works sponsored by this newsletter. We also have an opinion essay written by our own Unit 8311, and the newly-renamed Picture of the Edition segment. We have also brought you up-to-date information about new policy proposals and other happenings around the wiki, such as the ongoing mass deletion process that is geared towards improving the quality of the wiki.

Speaking of quality, many users have remarked that the last few editions of this newsletter have not met the standards of quality that our readers have come to expect from us. It is our sincerest hope that this edition of the newsletter will be the first of many that will rectify that, as we have spent weeks working on articles, editorials, and other tidbits that we hope you will enjoy. Because we are striving to improve our quality, we very much encourage you to leave your comments and feedback in the User Comments section. Anything you have to say will be appreciated.

As always, thank you for reading the Completely Unofficial Star Wars Fanon Newsletter. We value your commitment to us, and we hope that you will continue to value our commitment to you!

Edition XXIII

[edit] Sandbox

Hey 3P0. I undid your edit to the sandbox; the proposal to extend the tagging period has not passed yet, so until then, you still can't use the MassDelete template. If you want to see the proposal go through, I suggest you vote in the forum. Thanks. - Joe (talk) 14:20, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

It was just a Sandbox edit; that's what the Sandbox is for: to make tests or beta-versions. I do intend to vote in the forum eventually. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed 16:23, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Critics lounge help

Giday C3PO the Dragon Slayer, hope your well. I was wondering if you may be able to help me out, I’m interested in getting article Alpha Saber reviewed so I can have some constructive feed back and hopefully one day polish it up (as well as my other linked articles) to the standard of a GA. Ive been into the critics lounge and, forgive me for my ignorance but I’m not entirely sure of the process required to nominate my article for a review. Are you able to lend some assistance? Any help would be great. Kindest regards, Corron Zenith (Talk) 04:09, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

It's nothing difficult; just type the "Can someone help with Alpha Saber?" or something like that in the input box on the Critic's Lounge to create a forum for it, and then just ask for a critique. I'll be glad to review it there; I have time to kill today. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed 10:57, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Some deletions

Ohai, I tagged some of the leftover contribs and redirects that vandal made for deletion. See them here Cheers. Madclaw Shyriiwook! 13:13, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. --C3PO the Dragon Slayer 6,000,000 forms of communication | Dragons I've Slayed 13:15, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] CUSWFN – Edition 24

Thank you for your continued commitment to the Completely Unofficial Star Wars Fanon Newsletter! Without you, this edition, albeit somewhat late due to real life matters taking priority for both Unit 8311 and Brandon Rhea, would not have been possible. We hope you enjoy it just as much as we do!
