[edit] Re: Categories

Alright, thanks for telling me. BTW if I don't include the character name then I must include those?-Chosen OneI will bring balance 16:37, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

  • Basically if it is obvious in the image you don't need to include it. For example, Mace Windu is obviously human, and an individual, and you could even say he is obviously a Jedi. So I don't really need to put anything other than a link to the Character name. I hope I am understanding this right.-Chosen OneI will bring balance 16:44, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

I get it now. I only need to put character name, promotional image (if it applies), and/or any other type of image like a screenshot.-Chosen OneI will bring balance 16:48, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

  • Okay, thanks for the help. I will stick to that advice, but if I get in trouble for missing an image category it won't be my fault. File:Tongue.gif -Chosen OneI will bring balance 16:51, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Potential problem

I don't think you've noticed but LogiTeeka has created an article called Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. His intro is exactly the prologue to your story, The Chosen One. He credits you as an inspiration, but I don't know if you want to take action or not.--Josh BenderTalk 10:16, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] GA nomination

So, ah.. I have a question: If you're going to nominate an article to be a GA, you just add the tag and add it to the list of GA nominations? I mean, you don't create the CS:[Insert-article-name] page, right? Just making sure. Antonstaen (Talk) 15:35, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

  • Gah.. Can't find any instructions for that.. I'm the kind of person which needs a manual for everything. Antonstaen (Talk) 15:40, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. I just hope I did everything right.. Antonstaen (Talk) 15:48, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] "Beskrivning"

Thanks for editing that. Wikia plays tricks on me, due to the fact that I'm swedish - The system isn't fully adapted to my language. Beskrivning means description. Antonstaen (Talk) 16:25, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Spelling

I am not a bad speller. I am just bad at formatting and capitalization stuff. File:Tongue.gif-Chosen OneI will bring balance 07:12, September 25, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Sorry

I'm sorry I started lashing out like I was, I'm angry at my editor, I'm angry that no matter what I do, my work still has problems, and I'm angry at a lot of other things at the moment. I'm just going to take a nice long relaxing break from stuff at the moment.--Josh BenderTalk 23:09, September 25, 2009 (UTC)

  • If I can chime on in Brandon's talk page, don't be angry that your work still has problems. A few days ago, I found errors in a work that I wrote a couple years ago that's been reviewed by multiple people and been featured. It's good to always demand more of yourself, but expecting grammatical perfection in thousands of words is a mite unrealistic given that you don't have a professional editor working for you. I accidentally tagged one of my articles with {{Delete}}. Since there was an image on it that became unused, you rightfully deleted the image. Could you please restore the article and the image. -- (Conference Room) 17:50, October 4, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding that account you just blocked

Just so you know, Jedi Master Profiteor had nothing to do with that account. If you look at the changes in the forum, Darth Wylind accidentally made the link to his name be just Profiteor. Chosen One made the user page and Wikia went from there.--Josh BenderTalk 00:58, October 5, 2009 (UTC)

  • Oh wow, look at that, I totally didn't see that. I saw Wylind make the link and change it later. Ugh, me and my assumptions...--Josh BenderTalk 01:07, October 5, 2009 (UTC)
    • No, I assume full responsibility. I made the incorrect link, thus causing Wikia to create the user page. -- (Conference Room) 01:39, October 5, 2009 (UTC)
      • Oh, I see. I assume he made the edit because he felt compelled to after he realized the link led to nothing. -- (Conference Room) 01:44, October 5, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] TEGTFL help

I'm soon going to be converting the "entries" from my essential guide to actual articles. In order to do this, I'm going to be moving a lot of pages from the Essential Guide to a user subpage (for example: The Essential Guide to Force Legend/Sapp will become User:Darth Wylind/Sapp). But, for "anti-spam reasons", Wikia will not let me Move articles for 24-hours now because I've already moved several. It would take me probably weeks if I keep up the move-so-many-then-get-blocked thing. So, I'm asking is there a way you could disable the move limitation on me (temporarily), or just move the articles yourself? Unsigned comment by Darth Wylind (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Thank you. -- (Conference Room) 21:26, October 6, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] UK

Is it me, or did the wiki suddenly moved to London? --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 03:31, October 8, 2009 (UTC)

Click here. varnish8.wikia.net redirects to Wikia, and "varnish" refers to the software behind Wikia's servers. The WHOIS indicates that they're in London for some reason. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 04:05, October 8, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Admin list

I noticed on both Star Wars Fanon:Administrators and Star Wars Fanon Wiki pages are inaccurate/outdated as far as a list of admins. The {{Hello}} template list these two above-mentioned pages for new users to view, so I think it would be best if they are current and accurate. I tried to see just exactly who the admins were and edit the two pages myself, but I kept making mistakes, as in something didn't add up. Could you take a look at it and perhaps update it? -- (Conference Room) 21:15, October 8, 2009 (UTC)

This obviously is inconsistent, therefore unreliable and inaccurate. Correct and explain to me how I'm wrong. -- (Conference Room) 23:03, October 8, 2009 (UTC)

"You really had trouble with this?"
—You

Lol. Yes I did. My apologies. A simple miscount led all of my calculations to me incorrect. I failed to see the thing about Neomessiah, as well. Please excuse my mistake and error. -- (Conference Room) 23:19, October 8, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Darth Vacatour

Hello Brandon Rhea. I am Johnathan Amadeuce, you may remember me as a former user from this Wikis original days, Darth Vacatour. I was the one who came up with the Wiki Awards in 2006, just ask those users. Either way I haven't been on here since 2007. I would like to host the Fifth Wiki Awards. I hosted the first and I would love the opportunity to host the Fifth in my first year back editing at Star Wars Fanon. I'm impressed by how far you have expanded the awards and this wiki. I would also enjoy collaborating with you in the future. Please respond to me about this subject Mr. Rhea. Thank you and good day. - Johnathan Amadeuce (Talk) 02:54, October 9, 2009 (UTC)

Hey Brandon,

Thanks a lot for the heads-up :-) Will take some time but will do ...

I appreciate the warning.

Regards, Relentless

Actually, hey, a quick question ... what's the Wookieepedia template you were talking about? Is it something that assumes fair use if the image was taken from WP? Thanks, Relentless
Thanks for the prompt response ... I think I've finally finished attributing all the images used in my article correctly: please let me know if there's anything more I can do! :-) Your help is very appreciated, Relentless
Thanks a lot for working with me: I know that when a inexperienced rookie (like myself) asked me simple questions like the ones I'm asking you, that I often got frustrated, and as you are an administrator working very intensively with me on this, I wanted you to know that I appreciate the work that it takes you (and probably the IQ dribbling from your brain as you explain the protocol here for the thousandth time :-P). Regarding your question, Halo 3 has an application where you can set up and digitally take screenshots: I designed that screenshot and took it with that application. Other people that take such screenshots are allowed to sell them legally: therefore, I get the feeling that such an application gives the screenshot taker some sort of ownership over the image. Best regards, R2

[edit] RE:Deletions

Because I will no longer be editing them. — JM76 Droid IRC 05:17, October 11, 2009 (UTC)

  • I will no longer be editing the GAs or FAs, so they are in-line for deletion as well. — JM76 Droid IRC 05:24, October 11, 2009 (UTC)
    • That is true. But if I am deleting all of my other articles, there will be a startling amount of redlinks in my GAs and FAs. So even if I wanted to keep them, it would not be worth it. Besides, if an article's not going to get edited ever again, imo, a Cut templates just won't cut it. — JM76 Droid IRC 05:36, October 11, 2009 (UTC)
      • Yes. And, at the same time, I find it more practical to delete articles that will just sit there and are not particularly wanted anymore. It's one thing if it's cut content, it's another if it's info to be discarded. — JM76 Droid IRC 05:47, October 11, 2009 (UTC)

I succesfully did Mist Sheplin's infobox but it was generated by it's self from a page on the site where it helps you create an article but I lost where it was x_x if I didn't lose it I don't think I would've been bothering you for help x_x Thanks -Mist

[edit] Demoting admins

How would one go about requesting the demotion of an administrator? A forum? Consensus track? Senate Hall? What? -- (Conference Room) 00:16, October 21, 2009 (UTC)

  • Because, for example, Gnosis is knowledge is listed as having SysOp abilities, yet Star Wars Fanon:Administrators list him as inactive (which he is, as he hasn't made an edit in over five months). If he is inactive, shouldn’t his rights be removed. The same goes to NKSCF, CBT, and Jasca Ducato. If they are "inactive", why aren't their rights removed? If not, a CT proposal may be on the way. -- (Conference Room) 00:50, October 21, 2009 (UTC)
    • I didn't mean to imply them having them were harmful. But, IMO, administrators should be active and participating in editing. They're not, so why are the administrators? -- (Conference Room) 01:05, October 21, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] GuildWiki and NC-SA

Out of curiosity, how was the Guild Wiki able to have their content licensed under CC-BY-NC-SA instad of CC-BY-SA? - Brandon Rhea (talk) 21:44, October 23, 2009 (UTC)

The GuildWiki originated outside Wikia on a network of wikis called "gamewikis". These wikis used the noncommercial license. Wikia bought Gamewikis, but the licensing of those wikis remained the same. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 21:51, October 23, 2009 (UTC)
I'll reply here - as this seems to be your main talk, I'll watch this page too. GuildWiki was CC-NC-SA when it was founded, then, later - it was purchased by wikia (with significant drama). Wikia can't change the licence, as it would have to have permission by everyone who's ever edited, and that's impossible, so we're NC-SA instead of BY-SA. RandomTime 21:50, October 23, 2009 (UTC)

Ah, OK, thanks for letting me know. I was hoping you guys had found a way to change it when Wikia changed its licensing a few months ago. That would've come in handy to avoid this magazine stuff. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to respond. I appreciate it! =D - Brandon Rhea (talk) 21:53, October 23, 2009 (UTC)

Sorry for haven't specified. I'm a native speaker of english, from the UK.--Lord David (Talk) 22:12, October 24, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Novel

Yes, of course you need to write, and I commend you for your word but, my other questions are: Hoy do you get the image of the cover, for example? How do you upload it? Do I need to upload it or how is it? Thanks for everything.--Lord David (Talk) 23:49, October 24, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Assistance

Hey, Rhea. Sorry to bother you again, but could you just give me a quick list of all the things to include in the CUSWFN fanon updates? I do have something down, but owing to my RL matters lately I want to make sure I haven't missed anything out and that I've got everything, just to avoid embarassment. This part is my big weak spot in regards to the newsletter, so I hope you understand. If you're unable or unwilling, then that's cool, no problem. Thanks. Unit 8311Talk! 15:36, October 25, 2009 (UTC)

  • Thanks a lot, I really appreciate that. I think you had an inteview of yours geared for the upcoming issue? Unit 8311Talk! 16:33, October 25, 2009 (UTC)
    • If you've got it ready, could you email it to me please? Unit 8311Talk! 16:35, October 25, 2009 (UTC)
  • Thanks greatly. :) Anyway, I was asking because I was concerned over whether I had managed to include everything that needs including. I'd like to express my gratitude for clearing things up for me again. Unit 8311Talk! 16:39, October 25, 2009 (UTC)
  • Well, I've done a barebones one thus far, which covers a bit of what you listed, but if we agreed for you to do it--my memory is a bit hazy--then send it when you can, if that be the case. If not, I'll just make do. Unit 8311Talk! 16:45, October 25, 2009 (UTC)
  • Kk, thanks for clarifying. Send any interviews you've got when you can. Thanks. Unit 8311Talk! 16:52, October 25, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Huh

There are a lot more rules here than on some other fanons I've worked on. But anyways, the drawing on my char's page is one drawn by me, and I'd like to prevent others from using it without permission, so which template do I use to state that? Takeshi57 (Talk) 23:06, October 25, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the help, I'm going to add an image from another wiki, but it's got a fairuse template for it's licensing and I'm new to copyrighting and such so does that mean I can use it or not? - Takeshi57 (Talk) 23:20, October 25, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Answer

Yes, I am. I have 2 Wiki accounts and didn't know which one I had previously made Sadow Yatsumaru with. And yes, I am working with Takeshi57. Unsigned comment by Sadow Yatsumaru (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Sounds alright to me. Thanks for addressing me on this matter. Unsigned comment by Sadow Yatsumaru (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Thanks for letting me know. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 23:25, October 26, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

I wasn't going to make a new message for this, but whatever. Thanks for fixing the Stass Allie category. I tried to get rid of the Fair Use category after I realized I shouldn't put it there, but it wouldn't let me. Thanks again.Chosen OneSo the Prophecy says... 18:25, October 28, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Star Wars Fanon users category

Can you please delete these articles if this isn't time wasting? Thank you, JEA13 [iTalk]

[edit] RE:CoS

I would love to be on the Council, and I feel really honored to have been asked to be on it. I would have the time to commit to it, so go ahead and put me on that nomination page! ---Ping(JediCommando) 15:01, November 1, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. I'll do that. Cyril Khan (Talk) 23:09, November 1, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Interviews

Hey, Rhea. Just wanted to know if the interviews are ready and if not when I can expect them. I have most of the stuff done, just waiting for those. If you've sent them, then clearly there's a problem on your end or mine. Unit 8311Talk! 17:58, November 2, 2009 (UTC)

  • No, I checked, and it's not there. Are you sure you didn't misspell my address in the process? I can go onto IRC to reconfirm it if need be. Unit 8311Talk! 18:19, November 2, 2009 (UTC)
    • Well, I'm stumped. How many variations are there for sending an email? File:Argh.gif Unit 8311Talk! 18:31, November 2, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Rancor/Template

The Rancor is semi-sentient, not non-sentient. Just incase that changes the upper case rule for the categories.-Chosen OneSo the Prophecy says... 22:57, November 3, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Log action removal

I'm uninvolved, but just leaving this message to help as much as possible The action you've requested is an "Oversight". Users with the capability are really rare (even WP-EN only has 20), and they're only willing to oversight edits in really extreme cases. I know for a fact that Jimbo Wales has it, but he's usually caught up with the business affairs of the Wikimedia Foundation, as well as Wikia, so he doesn't have time to read and answer requests from his users. As for oversighting the creation of an account, you can't do that since that stuff has to be permanently stored by the servers. Again just dropping by to provide my input. Here's the talkpage I check most, if you'd like to reply to me. Gp75motorsports (talk) 21:08, November 4, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Spotlight on Central

Haha, thanks for fixing the request for spotlight that I made on central. I just clicked the "Post Comment" button XD. Believe it or not, I do actually have some wikia experience. Thanks again, Ajr

[edit] Getting rid of MyHome

Ausir from Fallout Wiki here. How did you do it? :) Ausir(talk) 16:48, November 5, 2009 (UTC)

Add the following to your local MediaWiki:Monaco.js:
/* killing the My Home thingy */
if( wgPageName == 'Special:MyHome' ) { window.location = wgServer + wgScriptPath + '/wiki/' + wgMainpage; }

[edit] Antidar

Could you get on IRC so we could discuss this perhaps?--Josh BenderTalk 06:31, November 6, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Suggestions

Seeing as how either yours or my email is on strike, I was wondering if you could give the CUSWFN stuff via IRC. I know it may sound like a pain, but it's the only practical option I can think of right now. Unit 8311Talk! 14:14, November 7, 2009 (UTC)

Are we all allowed to have like a workspace page? If so, how should I go about creating one? Sirak Sazen (Talk) 20:58, November 7, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Comment

I was only having the 4,000 and 2,500 options because I wanted this proposal to be a tie-breaker.--Josh BenderTalk 21:26, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

  • The 5,000 was placed since all proposal should have a "leave as is" option, but I see what you mean. Perhaps we could at least remove the 1,000 since there were no votes for it last time?--Josh BenderTalk 21:37, November 8, 2009 (UTC)
