Code Name Jedimca0

During the last years of the Galactic Republic and just prior to the Clone Wars Jedi Master Yoda secretly began training a Jedi Knight who could possibly rival Anakin Skywalker, He is only known by the Code name Jedimca0 . His specialties where Stealth, lone recognizance and he was a Fighter Ace. There where only 2 Jedi who knew of his existence, Master Yoda and Master Mace Windu.

He spend most of the Clone Wars Training not that far from the Jedi Temple on Corrruscant. But Imperial records show that not long before Anakin, now known as Darth Vader, and the 501st Legion attacked the jedi temple, someone using the password "Jedimca0" accessed the jedi archives and downloaded and deleted several classified files, He also accessed the chamber in which the jedi kept their precious holocrons, it is said that he took the most precious and valuable holocrons with him.

The Imperial agents who were tasked with finding the Stolen information and this person, which they had Dubbed "The Phantom" because every lead they ever investigated went cold in a mater of days sometimes even hours, never found anything but death. No one ever found out what information he had accessed and deleted. According to rumors he had Accessed the information files containing the names and locations of every jedi who was not on Coruscant that day, copied them and deleted the files. According to Imperial records "code name Jedimca0" never existed because after almost 15 years of investigating they never found any evidence to suggest that he did exist. Although, the few surviving members of the task force that was sent out to find him contradict that. They claim they survived because they did not find the Truth, their dead comrades did........

Chapter 1: Coruscant

It was now two hours after he received a transmission from Master Yoda, the only thing Yoda said to him was “To the Jedi Temple go you must, secure classified files, ensure the survival of the Jedi order you must. Precise instructions will you find in the archives, use your code name to access them you must” than the transmission had abruptly ended. He had gathered his things and left for the temple, where he was now accessing files, downloading them and deleting them. He had found a list of files and records when he logged on using his code name Jedimca0, as Yoda had instructed him. He had already copied and deleted half of the files on the list, it was going to take at least another hour and a half to complete his task, and then it would take him another half an hour to cover his tracks and make sure no one would find him. He had been in the Temple on various occasions during the last few years, but it was always to meet Master Yoda or Master Windu. This was definitely different, although he had no idea why he was doing this, he trusted Yoda, somehow he knew he would soon find out why he was chosen to become a Jedi.

Another hour and a half went by without anyone disturbing him, when he suddenly heard a loud noise. He thought it was noting, besides he was almost done here, he just returned from the chamber that held the Jedi Holocrons and took the ones on his list. The only thing he had to do was cover his tracks, in about 30 minutes he’d be on his way out. Then he heard something that sounded like an Explosion followed by what seemed Blaster Fire. He wanted to get up and see what was going on, when a young Padawan rushed in to the room. “Clones, Hundreds of Clones, they’re storming the Temple, we need to get out of here” the Padawan said. Then the young Jedi got hit, and fell to the floor, A clone stepped in to the room, he looked around and said “I’m sure I saw some one else in her” “It’s probably nothing” a second trooper answered. “lets go, we need to secure the archives, Lord Vader wishes to start the down load eminently“ “Yes sir”.

There where clones every where, he had to get out of the temple and of the planet, Fortunately his security codes gave him access to all of the temples chambers and passages, including the well hidden secret passages most Jedi had forgotten about. Whilst running through one the many secret passages, he saw some thing in the corner of his eye. It was a monitor, on it he could clearly see a group of at least 9 Younglings and an older Padawan hiding in a corner. Then he saw a group of clones approaching them, he did not hesitate, he nearly rammed the button through the wall, when the door finally opened he literally flew through the room, jumping in between the younglings and the clones, he killed tree troopers with the first sweep of his Lightsaber, the others would soon follow. He jumped from wall to wall slashing close into peaces on every jump, then he Force pushed the 2 out of the window, knowing they where on a floor at least a 100 meters from the street level. He then kicked the last clone trooper against the wall and drove his saber through the troopers head. He looked at the younglings and said “follow me, I’ll get you to Master Yoda”, the young Jedi followed him into the secret passageways and they disappeared.

Some time later in one of Coruscant’s many space ports.

“Will you take us, or not”

“I signed on for a few crates of cargo, an astro droid, You, your personal luggage and no questions asked. I did not sign on for 10 bloody Jedi on my ship, you can forget about it”

“It’s 9 kids and Padawan, How does a double fee sound to you”

“How does, I won’t report you to Troops over there sound to you”

“Captain, If you don’t take us to Naboo, I’ll report you to those troops for transporting stolen goods and find myself another ship.”

“Alright, but you’ll still pay double, now get those kids on board before those troops see them”

15 Minutes later they the where on their way to Naboo, he cleverly convinced the Freighter captain to take them, unfortunately he could not use a mind trick since the captain was a Toydarian. He did not expect it to be so easy, he thought he would have to offer him at least 4 times the agreed fee. Not that it would have been a problem, after all Senator Organa did say “get those younglings far away from Corrruscant, no matter the cost, I’ll pay anything to see them brought to Naboo safely”

“Sir we have a problem” He had no idea what the captain meant, but he looked as if he had just seen a ghost. “what is the problem, and how much will it cost me to solve it” he said. “no mater how much money you offer me, it’s not going to keep that Imperial cruiser away” Ten seconds later he was standing in the cockpit of the freighter looking at a sensor image of the cruiser closing in on them. This did not look good. “can they see us” he asked “No, but we’ll show up on their sensors in about a minute” was the reply. “move” he said to the communications officer, pushed the man aside and started reconfiguring the settings of the communications array. “what are you doing” asked the Captain “I’m about to send out a transmission pretending to be another Imperial ship in the area, If they reply to my transmission I’ll be able to hack their system and disable their sensors, Making them blind. Can you make the calculations for the jump to light speed before they find out what happened?” he said “I’ll have those calculations in 90 seconds, will that be soon enough” was the reply. “It’ll have to be” he answered. 90 seconds later they where flying at lightspeed, the Imperials never knew what happened, they though it was a malfunction in their sensor system. I know better…………

Chapter 2: Naboo

By the time they had gotten to Naboo it seemed as if the entire planet was crying and mourning, at least that was what he sensed al over the planet. Senator Amidala had died, no one really knew how or why, but he did. Sometimes he wished Maser Yoda had never found him a few years back, some times he wondered if he would have been better of as a mercenary working for the Hutts, or whoever could pay him enough. But he made his choice 5 years ago when Master Yoda asked him if he wanted to complete his training, He was a Jedi…….One of the last remaining Jedi……

He attended Senator Amidala’s funeral and made contact with Bail Organa, after the funeral he met Senator Organa in one of Theeds many streets. “Where you followed” he asked the senator “no, of course not. Who would want to follow me” replied the senator, unaware of what had happened a few hours prior to their meeting. “I ran in to a couple of Imperial agents that where looking for you, they said something about a resistance movement” “what are you talking about” asked the Senator. “They wanted to ask you a few questions about the delegation of 2000 and about the rumor that this delegation wants to over throw the Emperor” “you think they followed me here?” “No” was the reply “about half an hour ago three unknown men where found, not that far from here, with their guts hanging out. Local authorities have no idea who they are or who killed them, but I do, don’t worry your secret is safe with me” The senator looked relieved and said “Why did you want to meet me, and who are you, I mean, what’s your real name” “trust me Senator, you not knowing my real name, or my true intentions is what’s keeping both of us alive right now. Master Yoda told me I needed to talk to you about my list.” He said “What list” asked the senator. “Oh, just a list of things, things I need. A ship, some weapons, a few spare parts, a place out side the city where no one will look for me and not being disturbed for a couple of months, here’s the complete list, can you get those things for me?” he gave the senator a list of things he needed, Organa took a few moments to study the list and said “are you out of your mind, half of the things on this list can’t be purchased legally, these military grade missiles and that cloaking device for instance, where am I supposed to get these things and at what cost” He looked at the senator and replied “I did not ask you if you could get them Legally, nor did I ask you tell me what is on the list, I know what is on it, I made the list.” “Why me, why did you ask me and not some arms dealer” the senator asked. “Because those people are back stabbing fools, don’t get me wrong, I know some of those things are difficult to acquire, especially for a senator, but you have friends on this planet, friends that are willing to acquire those things for you, am I wrong?” “no, you’re right, I’ll make sure that you get whatever you need, what will you do once get these things?” “I’ll modify the ship using those parts, after that I don’t know yet, I need to ask Master Yoda about what our next move will be”

A week later one of the Senators trusted friends on Naboo made a delivery at a large abandoned building in Naboo’s remote lake country. An astromech droid opened the door, the man looked around but saw nobody, he thought there was no one there and wanted to leave, when he turned around he stared in to the barrel of a WESTAR-34 blaster pistol held by a figure in a dark cloak. “why are you here and who send you” asked the dark figure. “I’m here to make a delivery, Senator Bail Organa send me” The dark figure lowered the Blaster and said “you must be Ralack, any friend of senator Organa is a friend of mine, where are the things I ordered” “one of my most trusted employees will be arriving in the ship you requested, most of the things on your list will be on the ship, the rest will arrive this afternoon. Ehh, who are you, are you Jedimca0?” Ralack replied. “perhaps……” He reached out through the Force to unravel Ralacks true intentions and said “Yes, call me Zero, this here is R4-PX3, my astro droid” “if You’re a Jedi, then why do you use a Blaster” Ralack asked “In times like this A lightsaber could draw more attention to me than I can handle, that’s why I don’t use my lightsaber unless I really have to” A few moments later a Ship flew over and landed in the prepared hanger.

Not long after that they where standing in the hanger looking at the chromed ship that had just landed. “What’s the ships name?” he asked Ralack “It’s name is Lightning II and it’s fast, really fast” was the reply. “I know it’s fast, it’s a Naboo Royal Cruiser, the same type of ship Senator Amidala used before the war, unfortunately hers was blown up by a bounty hunter on Coruscant a few years ago. How about the modifications I requested” he asked. “do you mean the heavily armored Hull, the military grade shields or the concealed weapons?” Ralack replied. “All of them” he said. “tell your employee to forget he was ever here and then tell him to leave, we’ve got work to do” A few hours later the two new friends where Literally taking the ship apart, replacing most of the primary systems and upgrading ever inch of the ship. It was all here, every thing he had put on that list and given to the Senator from Alderaan, even the Cloaking device. It was going to take at least a month before they where done, then they had to test every individual system on the ship, this would probably take them another month.

During the next few days he and Ralack became friends.

A few weeks later they were making real progress on the ship. Ralack was taking a break and he was working on the Cloaking device alone, they had been trying to solve a problem with the cloaks power supply for about 2 days now, but they could not solve it. Then he heard some loud noises coming from the room Ralack was in. shortly after that he heard a female voice say “Drop that weapon, who are you, what are you doing here” He rushed to the other room, when he got there he saw Ralack being strangled by the woman, the only thing he could do was laugh. “stop it both of you” he said.

“Do you know her” Ralack asked.

“Yes, she’s the Padawan I told you about, the one I saved together with those younglings back on Coruscant. Ralack I want you to meet Janna, Janna meet Ralack, He’s a friend of Senator Organa. He’s been helping me modify our new ship.”

“You couldn’t wait until I got back, you had to start with out me” she said.

“I did not know when or if you’d be back, are the younglings okay?”

“They are safe, Master Yoda an I took them to a friend of his in the Adega system, they’ll be safe there. After that Master Yoda went to Dagobah, he told me to come here and help you in any way I could”

“Any help would be welcome, We’ve still got a few things to fix”

“Define Fix” she asked.

“lets just say we’ve been having a problem integrating the cloaking device with the rest of the ships systems”

“I’ll take a look at it, I’ll have it fixed in no time”

He thought she was being extremely optimistic, but no more then 4 hours later the cloaking device was working perfectly, without leaching every bit of power away from the other systems on the ship. He had to admit, she was a good engineer, she was almost better at fixing things than he was at braking them.

During the following weeks he had been preparing her for combat, making sure she’d be able to fight of an overwhelming force, or at least stand a chance at getting herself out of a situation like that in one piece. Although she was only 6 years younger then he was, her training was almost complete when her Master got killed in the temple, he sensed a lot of pain and anger in her, if she had stayed with the younglings on Adega her anger would probably have consumed her, she would have turned to the Dark Side. Master Yoda knew this, that is why he had sent her back to Naboo, she needed something to do, something that made her realize her Masters death was not in vain. He had died to save her and the younglings, she felt unworthy of such a sacrifice. Since her saber skills barely rivaled that of a youngling, the only thing she was really good at was fixing things and building Lightsabers. They spend hours occasional even an entire day out in the lake country’s immense valleys. Janna had constructed a pair of training sabers for them, this way they could improve her saber skills without accidentally killing each other. After a few weeks she was making real progress, he had to watch his back around her now, if he wanted to avoid a painful burn inflicted by her training saber.

Some weeks later.

It was now about 3 months after he had arrived on Naboo, the ship, Lightning II was ready for whatever they needed it for. Just when he was thinking they would never leave Naboo, Janna stormed into the room. “We have a problem, a big problem” she said. “The Empire has arrested several people they suspect of being part of a resistance movement, including this man” she gave him a photo of a person he had never seen before. “Who is he, I’ve never seen him before” he said. “He’s a former crew member of the Tantive IV, senator Organa’s ship. He was arrested on Coruscant yesterday. Organa thinks he knows who his daughter, Leia, really is. The guy was on Polis Massa when she was born”

“Does he know about the boy, about Tatooine?” he asked. “No, he doesn’t” was the reply.

“Ralack, gather you best men, go the Alderaan, make sure the senators daughter is, and remains safe, if we fail make sure she is safe. Janna and will go to Coruscant”

“We’ll Leave right away” Ralack answered and went to the city.

Zero grabbed his comlink, contacted his astro droid and said. “R4 prepare the ship for Immediate departure, we’re going to Coruscant.”

Ten minutes later they were on their way to Coruscant, neither one of them knew what they were walking into, nor did they want to think about it…………

Chapter 3: Reliable Contacts

It was a quiet trip to Coruscant, they used to talk for hours back on Naboo, whenever they weren't working on the ship or training. But now they were quiet, they did not know what they were going to find on Coruscant. And they did not want to discuss it, they just thought about it. "We're approaching Coruscant, I'm activating the cloak" Zero said.

"I've got at least 15 cruisers on sensors, do you think they're expecting us" Janna asked.

"No, I don't think so, The Emperor is a bit paranoid I think, he wants to make sure Coruscant is as secure as possible."

"It won't be easy to do this without being seen"

"I know, but we've got an advantage, I've still got a few contacts on the planet. One of them happens to be in a key position in the prison where they're holding our guy"

"Is he reliable?" she asked.

"Yes, He's reliable, I think…."

"You think?!! This could be a trap, you know the Empire found out that you accessed the archives, you know their looking for you."

"He's reliable, he knows I'll kill him if he betrays me, I made that very clear"

"That makes me feel better, a lot better" she said.

"I'll land a few kilometers from the prison, the ship will remain cloaked to avoid detection."

"I've got a bad feeling about this" Janna said, but nothing she said could change his mind.

A few minutes later they were preparing to breaking in to the prison, they were taking a lot of equipment with them, including a pair of blasters. They did not want to be identified as Jedi unless there was no other way.

By the time they got to the prison it was night on Coruscant and no one saw them sneaking around the prison in the shadows. When they reached the side entrance of the prison complex there were only two troopers and an officer guarding it. "I'll take care of them" Janna said, but Zero stopped her and said. "wait a minute, do you see that fat colonel , he's the in charge of this facility, He's my contact" the colonel was talking to the troopers, when the colonel left the troopers walked away in the opposite direction. His contact had proven useful and reliable, he had ordered to troops away from the entrance. "we've got a 15 minute window, lets hurry. I told you he was reliable" Zero said. Janna cracked the prisons security code in a mater of seconds, they were in, now all they had to do was find the right cell and get out. If all went according to plan they'd be out of the prison and on their way to the ship in 5 minutes. < P>

"Cell 915, this is the one, It'll take me a few seconds to bypass the silent alarm, standby" Janna said. 10 seconds later the door opened "Are you Jed, a friend of senator Organa" Zero asked the man inside the cell, the man nodded but he did not look happy to see them. They wanted to ask him why when they heard a pair of guards approaching. Janna quickly hid in the cell and closed the door, Zero hid in a dark corner. The guards did not know they were there, they were talking and laughing about something. When they came around the corner Zero jumped out from the shadow, he rammed a knife through the first guards neck and kicked the second one against the wall, with one move of his foot he broke the mans neck. Both guards where dead before they even saw him. Janna opened the door of the cell again, she was now looking as frightened as the prisoner was.

"What is it" asked Zero

"They did not question him, they did not try to extract any information, you know what that means" Janna said.

"What do you know about the Senators daughter" asked Zero.

"Everything" said the man "but I told them nothing, and they didn't even ask. They don't even know I'm friend of Senator Organa. Who are you?"

"Another friend of the senator. We have to leave" Zero replied

"But there are more prisoners, we must free them too" said the man.

"We Have to LEAVE……NOW!!!!" Zero said, now raising his voice.

When they walked towards the exit they realize they were not getting out the same way they came in, there were Stormtroopers between them and the exit, may stormtroopers. Zero gave the prisoner a blaster and asked

"Do you know how to use this"

"Yes, I think……." said the man. "Just stay behind me and close to Janna, and You'll be fine" The three ran around the corner and started shooting, every shot Zero and Janna fired killed or disabled a Trooper, Jed was not doing that bad either, at least he was hitting the troopers or the wall instead of his rescuers. The troopers were soon beaten, Janna looked at Zero and said "I thought you said your contact was reliable"

"I guess my inside man was not as reliable as I thought, lets hope my other contact is, Time for plan B" Zero replied, he grabbed a remote detonator from his belt and pushed a little red button after that they heard a loud explosion. "what was that?" Janna asked. "that was an explosive device with enough power to blast through 7 feet of armor, it was hidden in the colonel's office. It blew him and a huge section of the prisons outer wall into tiny peaces, or at least I hope the traitor was in his office"

By the time they reached what was left of the colonel's office it became clear that his second contact was as reliable as the first, although the explosive was in the office and went of, there was an entire Battalion of troops waiting for them outside.

"now what do we do" Janna asked "I told you I had a bad feeling about this" she added.

"We don't have a choice, we can't escape, or at least a pair of mercenary's can't……" Zero said.

"SURRENDER!!!!, And we will not kill you" shouted the colonel. "What did you think a Bomb my assistant smuggled into my office would not be found, especialy if the assistant is my BROTHER IN LAW, yes he married my sister a month ago, didn't see that coming did you, you stupid mercenary!!"

"ALTHOUGH, I once was a Mercenary, my dear fat friend, I'm not any more, I gave that up a few years ago" he shouted at the colonel who was now looking a bit scared.

"here you can have my Blaster, I won't need it to kill you and your Battalion" He tossed his blaster to the colonel and reached in to his cloak, when his hands came out again he was holding a Lightsaber in each hand, he activated them and said. "this is much better than a clumsy blaster"

"He's a JEDI!!!" the colonel shouted "BLAST HIM, I WANT HIM DEAD"

He jumped up so fast that none of the troopers managed to hit him, he landed right in the middle of the Battalion. He started spinning around like a tornado with a Purple and Yellow glow around him, his two sabers slashed the many troopers around him in to tiny pieces. He kicked one down and stabbed the trooper when he tried to get up. With his other saber he cut another troopers legs of and broke yet another troopers neck with the hilt of his saber.

Meanwhile Janna was not doing that bad either, she was deflecting the fire from a number of troopers that were shooting at her and Jed, occasionally a trooper got close enough for her to take him out with a well placed slash from he saber. In just a few minutes many of the troopers in the battalion died while trying to kill a pair of Jedi and an escaped prisoner. Some how the colonel miraculously survived, but he was injured, he got shot in both of his legs.

The few surviving troopers ran away, the colonel who could not run, was left behind. Zero walked up to him, he pointed his Lightsaber in the direction of the colonel when he got close enough. "I could kill you with one simple twist of my hand" he said.

"Have mercy, please, I am unarmed" the colonel begged.

"I'm a JEDI, if I was still a mercenary You'd be dead by now. But I'm Jedi, I don't kill Unarmed Pathetic Fat Traitors, such as yourself" He deactivated his lightsaber, turned around and walked away. After a few steps he realized he should have killed the man when he had the chance, the colonel had grabbed a blaster he had hidden in his sleeve. Zero activated his Lightsaber, turned around, but he realize he was not fast enough, he heard a shot………

The colonel was dead. Zero looked a Janna, she was a faster draw than he knew, she had drawn her blaster and killed the colonel before he could turn around and do it himself.

Then they heard a familiar Roar in the sky. "Gunship's" Zero said. And a group 10 gunship's dove down from the sky's. "Those markings, It's the 501st Legion" Janna noticed. "You know what that means" she added.

"Lord Vader" Zero said.

"I thought he was hunting the remaining Jedi in the Outer Rim" Janna said.

"Perhaps he left a detachment of the 501st behind OR he's already back. Either way, We have to get out of here now, time for plan C" he grabbed his comlink contacted R4 and told him to fly the ship over to the prisons roof. When they reached the roof the troops of the 501st had deployed on the lower level of the prison, when they took of the troops were still searching the first floor of the complex.

"Time to leave" Zero said while he piloted the Lightning II away from Coruscant at high speed. When he wanted to make the Jump to lightspeed something went wrong they heard a loud noise in the back of the ship, Then they where Hit by laser blasts. "Imperial fighters, how can they see us" Zero asked.

"Because you burned-out the cloak and the Hyperdrive, I thought I told you not to accelerate to fast while the cloak a is activated" Janna said.

"You did tell me, but you didn't mention it would burnout the cloak"

"Yes I did, you just weren't listening"

"Well what are you waiting for, Fix the cloak, I'll deal with those fighters"

"I don't know if I can, I'll have the Hyperdrive back online in about 5 minutes"

"NO, fix the cloak"

"I told you not to accelerate to fast, but would you listed, NO, so we'll do this my way, I'll fix the cloak as soon as we get out of here."

"Fine, fix the Hyperdrive, I'll take care of those fighters. R4, Activate the heavy lasers"

4 hatches opened in the hull of the ship, from every hatch a forward mounted Heavy Laser Turret appeared. What looked like an unarmed Naboo Cruiser turned into an heavily armed war ship. He turned the ship around and flew strait toward the attacking fighters.

The fighters continued to fire upon their ship, but they lacked the fire power to penetrate the military grade shields. "My Turn" Zero said with a smile on his face and opened Fire upon the Imperial fighters, one was immediately hit and burst into flames, a second and a third went down even faster. The fighters passed over the ship so he turned the ship around and followed the fighters. The enhanced engines and thrusters made the ship extremely maneuverable, more maneuverable than the fighter pilots anticipated. He was now on their tail, he shot them down one by one. Janna walked into the cockpit and said. "the Hyperdrive is fix, we can get out of here, did you get all of the fighters?" "I got 7 of them" Zero replied.

"I couldn't help but notice nine of them when they first appeared" Janna said

"I know, the remaining 2 are behind us. R4, activate the rear Quad Laser. That'll take care of them" another hatch opened in rear of the ship, a quad laser turret appeared. After a few well placed shots, the remaining fighters where nothing more than a cloud of dust and debris.

"R4 make the calculations for the jump to Lightspeed, time to get out of here" Zero said

Janna sat down in the Co-pilots seat and looked at the sensor screen because there was a red light flashing. "I've got an Imperial cruiser on an intercept course, they'll be in visual range in one minute" she said

"don't worry, we'll be long gone by then, R4, calculations" Zero said "Bliep Bliep" the little droid responded and shortly after that Zero activated the Hyperdrive. They were, like he said, Long gone when the cruiser reached the destroyed fighters……..

They were both relieved, Janna looked at Zero and noted. "You're wounded"

"It's nothing, the colonel must have hit me" he said.

"it's not nothing, I'll get the medkit, if you don't treat it'll get infected. Let me take a look at it"

"so now you're a doctor too, besides I have to fly the ship" Zero said

"No, I'm not, but I do know how to use a medkit, now sit still. R4 can fly the ship"

"Alright, take your look."

"what will we do next, I mean, with the guy we broke out of that prison, this Jed, where will we take him"

"To a remote planet, where you can fix the cloak. We'll arrange a ship for Jed so he can go were ever he feels safe. After that we'll visit master Yoda on Dagobah, I need to know a few things, I need his advice on something"

Although she wanted to, Janna did not ask why he needed Master Yoda's advice. She knew the real reason he needed Yoda's advice, he just did not want to admit she was right about it................

Chapter 4: Jedi Knight

After the mission to Coruscant they went to Tatooine where they met Ralack, he took the prisoner they rescued on Coruscant to a remote planet the Empire would not look for him. Janna spend 3 days working on the cloaking device, while Jedimca0 made sure that a few Imperial agent who had followed them to Tatooine would not be able to follow them to Dagobah. When Janna had fixed the cloak they left for Dagobah, to ask Master Yoda for advice.

They were almost there now, Janna knew why Zero wanted to visit Yoda, He wasn’t going there for some normal advice. She knew he wanted to talk to his master about what happened on Naboo, when they were alone in the lake country…………

“I’ll land at the edge of that swamp” he said.

“why there, how will we find Master Yoda, how do you know he is there?” Janna asked.

“I know he’s there, trust me” he said.

5 minutes later they were standing at the edge of the swamp with their feet in the mud. “Alright, I’ll admit it, I landed to close to the swamp. But what did you want me to do, land on Master Yoda’s Hut”

“you should have landed in that clearing 3 miles from here, I can’t imagine Master Yoda living here” Janna said.

“why not live here should I, not like it do you, My new home this is” they heard a familiar voice say from the shadows.

“Master it’s so good to see you” Zero said.

“Hmmm. Good to see me say you, Why come here did you. So polite you never were as a child, nor were you so polite as my Padawan” Master Yoda said.

“Can’t a Jedi Knight visit his master……And ask his advice on something”

“It is not advice you seek, you seek approval” Yoda noted. “Talk we will”

Zero and Yoda left for Yoda’s hut, Janna waited by the ship. Although she could not hear everything that was said over in the Jedi Master’s hut, she could hear most of it. She heard Master Yoda ask about the months they spent training on Naboo, and about her training. At one point in the discussion she could clearly hear the two Jedi were not agreeing. She heard Zero say “This is not about Naboo Master, This is about a Padawan that is ready for this, I do not ask it because of personal issues”

“If so right you are, then why ask my advice do you” Master Yoda replied. Zero did not say anything, he knew Master Yoda was right, He and Janna denied the events on Naboo were of importance, but Yoda clearly did not agree. “why can you not give her a chance, she changed, she’s ready now” Zero said.

“A trial she will Face” Yoda said and walked out of his hut and toward Janna. Yoda looked at Janna, she did not know what was going on, she thought Zero had taken her to Dagobah over the Kiss she gave him on Naboo. Was it possible she was wrong…..

“follow me” Yoda said. Zero was standing behind Yoda, he had a smile on his face. Janna had no idea were they where going. Yoda stopped in from of a cave. “Leave your weapons here, need them you will not, enter unarmed you must, meditate you must” she took her weapons belt off and entered the cave, inside she clearly sensed the presence of the Dark Side. She sat down and meditated for hours, nothing seemed to happen. Just when she wanted to get up and leave, she had a vision………..

Outside the cave Yoda and Zero were talking about the future of the Jedi Order and the need for change. They discussed the fact that some of the Younglings he rescued on Coruscant were nearing the age at which they should continue their training as a Padawan, they needed Jedi Masters, something they did not have. There were rumors spreading across the galaxy about the fact that the queen of Naboo was now harboring several Jedi Knights and Master on Naboo.

“If we are to resist the Sith and their Empire , we will need al the Knights we can get. And concentrating them in one area or planet is not the best course of action”

“I…Agree” Yoda responded.

“Master, Do you think Janna will pass this trial, or did you set her up to fail”

“If as ready she is as you say, then pass she will, If not….”

During their discussion Yoda admitted that mistakes had been made in the past, mistakes that may have caused the Jedi Order to come dangerously close to extinction. “Come the time for change has. More tolerant we must be” Yoda said.

During the next few hours Janna had multiple visions while she was meditating in the cave. All of the visions were dark of nature and about the death of her Master. Just one was about the death of another person she cared about allot, she saw the future. Her mistake would cost some one she cared about his life. Yoda could sense all these emotions, but he could not determine who she cared about so much. When Janna returned Yoda asked her about that vision, she did not answer. Nor did she need to, the look on Zero’s face after he heard about the vision was all the confirmation Yoda needed. “discus this we must” Yoda said and he and Zero walked into Dagobah’s swamp. The Jedi Master obviously did not want Janna to hear what they discussed.

“Care about you she does, What happened on Naboo?” Yoda asked.

“I trained her, she helped me get our ship ready, we modified it” he replied.

“More happened, why not tell me do you?”

He was quiet for a brief moment and then said “We kissed”

“Hmmmm……...Care about her you do”

“Yes, more than I thought We’re a good team, we know each others strengths and weaknesses”

“A powerful emotion Love is, very powerful, careful you must be. To fear of loss and jealousy it leads, the shadow of greed that is”

“The vision she had was about me, will it really happen the way she saw it?”

“Always in motion the future is, make your own decision you must”

“Master, are you saying you approve?”

“Approve….I do not, but time for change it is….”

When they returned to the cave Yoda turned to Janna and said. “Passed your trial have you, Confer on you, the level of Jedi Knight, I do. Earned it you have”

Janna smiled, she was happy with this news. Her training was complete she was a Jedi Knight. “Thank you Master” she said.

“You’re not a padawan anymore, you’re a Knight, you now have a decision make” Zero said.

“What decision?” she asked.

“whether or not you’re going to stay with me and help me train another Padawan, one of the Younglings. We’re equal in rank now, I can’t order you to help me” Zero said.

“Wrong you are” Yoda said “Shown exceptional bravery and successfully trained Janna you have, Grant you the rank of Master I do” he continued.

Zero looked at him, he did not know what to say. “Th…Thank you, Master. I’m honored”

“I guess you outrank me again, does this mean I need to call you Master?” Janna said.

“You didn’t even call me Master when I was teaching you, and you we’re my Padawan then, so why bother to call me Master now” He replied with a smile on his face.

“You’re right, and you won’t have to order me to come with you, I volunteer to train a Youngling together with you” she said.

Yoda did not look to happy about this, but he remembered a vision he had a few days back and said. “The will of the force it is, seen it have I. Train your new padawan well, need all the knights we can get we do”

“We’ll be on our way then” Zero said “May the force be with you, Master” He continued.

“May the force be with both of you” master Yoda said.

Zero and Janna left Dagobah with mixed feelings, they both thought master Yoda would have judged them for what happened on Naboo, but apparently they were wrong. Master Yoda had vision a few days prior to their arrival, it showed him it was time for change and tolerance.

They were now on their way back to Naboo, Zero was very curious about the exact nature of Janna’s visions, so he asked. “Those visions, you said they were about your Masters death and about mine, what did you see”

Janna hesitated, but eventually replied “It was weird, I saw my master die, but he wasn’t in the temple when it happened. He was somewhere else on Coruscant. I know the vision I had was under the influence of the dark spirit in the cave, but it seemed so real”

“It was probably just what the spirit wanted you to see, it tried to lure you to the dark side and it failed” Zero said.

“I don’t know, the vision about you was different. It had elements in it that could not be true, I saw my masters killer and he killed you to, because I fell to the Dark Side. It was a very vague and intimidating vision, I have no idea what it meant”

“Its probably nothing, So what do you think, do think us meeting like that in the temple was the will of the force?” he asked.

“Well Zero, You like me, don’t you. What did master Yoda say to you? He didn’t encourage you did he?” she said.

“Master Yoda stated that whatever happened between us on Naboo was the will of the force. He didn’t approve of it, but what ever happens next will be our decision”

“I’ll be honest with you, although I was the first to say it was nothing, I’ve been having trouble sleeping ever since it happened. You’ve been all I could think of”

“We’re approaching Naboo, strap yourself in, I’ll start the landing” He said, but somehow he couldn’t help but to pay more attention to her than to flying the ship.

“stop looking at me like that, we’re gonna crash if you don’t pay attention to what you are doing” She said

“I can fly this ship blind, If you don’t trust me than why don’t you just take over?” he said.

“alright, you convinced me, you can fly the ship blind. Just make me feel better and pay attention to what you’re doing” She said and smiled at him, she had made her decision.

They were both sure that Master Yoda would not have approved what happened after they had landed, the next morning they went to the city of theed. They wanted to go and meet small group of Jedi that had sought refuge in the city, but when they where walking through the crowded streets they sensed something. “We’re being followed” Zero said. “I sense it too” Janna said. “what will we do”

“I know a trick that might work, take a left here, walk around that big building and find your way back to this street. I’ll wait in that corner, see who’s following us. And if necessary, take him out. Be careful” He replied. “only if you’re careful too” Janna replied.

Who was following them and why, all he could think about was finding the answers to those questions and making sure Janna was safe, that was all he cared about. When he saw the person who was following them he froze. “that’s not possible, he’s dead” he whispered.He let the man go whiteout stopping him and he ran back down the street to meet Janna.

“We have to leave” he said

“Why, who’s following us” she asked.

“It’s complicated, I’ll explain later” he replied and they disappeared in to the shadows, their pursuer never found out where they had gone……………

Chapter 5: Rogue Agent

It was now 3 days after they had escaped an Imperial Agent in the streets of Theed. After they had gotten back to their secret base in the lake country, Zero explained that he had encountered the agent that was following them before, here on Naboo. Zero also told her that this was the agent that he thought he killed on Tatooine, apparently he had only wounded him. After spending a few days digging up every piece of information about the agent, they were discussing what their next move would be. “does this mean Naboo is not safe any more” Janna asked.

“No, this is no ordinary agent. He’s a rogue agent, The Empire wants him dead too. He’s only trying to prove he’s loyal to the emperor by killing us” Zero said.

“lovely, that’s just what we need right now. I suggest we take him out, first chance we get,” Janna said

“Agreed, we can’t have him around when our new Padawan arrives. I’ve tracked him to a remote farm a few miles outside the city. We’ll catch him of guard there, he won’t expect us”

“you’re sure about that?” she asked.

“No, but we could also attack him in the middle of the city” he replied.

“that would mean to much unwanted attention, this plan will work, it’s our only chance” she said.

15 minutes later they were closing in on the farm, sneaking around it making sure there were no surprises waiting for them. “I’ve counted at least 50 maybe 60 guars outside the structure, any idea how many are still inside” Janna asked.

“No, but we can handle these guys, they’re nothing more than poorly trained farmers armed with rifles, we’ll climb over that wall when those guards aren’t looking”

“are you sure, I sense a disturbance in the force, I’ve got a bad feeling about this” Janna said

“I know what you mean, but like you said this is our only chance, we have to take him out before the empire finds out he’s found us. I’ll go first,” he said

“Lets be careful, some times I get the feeling you’re a trouble magnet,” Janna said

“Don’t worry, we’ll be fine, I’ll be watching your back as climb over the wall. What could go wrong?” He said in an attempt to reassure her.

When Zero got over the wall he knew something was wrong, by the time Janna was over the wall there were 100 mercenary’s standing in front of them. They were armed with Cortosis swords. “Our Lightsabers are useless against those, They’ll short out on contact,” Zero said

“Next move?,” Janna asked

“We can’t go back, we have to go forward. It’s a good thing I always carry these” He pulled two small repeater blaster pistols from his cloak, during the 15 seconds it took him to empty the weapons power cells he mowed down at least 20 to 30 of the mercenary’s.

“IMPRESSIVE,” a person standing on the roof if one of the farm buildings said, it was the rogue agent. “You still need to fight your way through 75 of my men armed with Cortosis Blades, how will you do that without using your Lightsabers,” he said.

“how about by just shooting you of that roof, and leaving your men without a paying boss,” he said and pulled his WESTAR-34 blaster pistol from his holster and fired at the man on the roof, the man pulled a Lightsaber and impressively reflected all the fire back down. “alright, didn’t see that coming, Just Wait a minute, we have to take care of your men first, we’ll get right back to you,” Zero said.

“That Lightsaber, It can’t be, it’s……it’s impossible,” Janna said, she looked like she just saw a ghost. “What is it,” Zero asked.

“That’s my masters Lightsaber, that means, He’s…….He’s the guy from my vision,” She said

Then the Agent said “YES, it’s true, I killed that Jedi, He begged me to let him live. But I shot him and took his Lightsaber. He should have trained me when he had the chance 10 years ago, but he and that little green bastard thought I was to old, Now look at them, They’re all dead”

“The Jedi are not dead, we’re very much alive and it will be my pleasure to take that Saber from you when you’re dead,” Zero said.

“NO!! HE’S MINE!!,” Janna screamed

“Janna! Control your self and grab a couple of those swords,” Zero said.

But Janna would not listen to him, it was almost like she was deaf. They both picked up a pair of Cortosis Swords and started to fight their way through the seemingly endless number of mercenary’s. Zero jumped forward and struck down one mercenary after the other, kicking and cutting his way to the Rogue Agent. Janna was way ahead of him, she had jumped up and landed right in the middle of the mercenary’s and was now almost close enough to Engage the agent who had killed her master, Zero could feel the Dark Side rise in her. His worst fear had almost been realized, He was losing the one girl he had ever cared about to the Dark Side, He would die before he let that happen. He had almost caught up with her when a large group of farmers ran onto the square, they were between him and Janna there was no way he would get to her in time. Janna jumped up to the roof, she activated her Lightsaber and said “now, lets find out if you’re any good with that” and she attacked the agent.

Meanwhile Zero was still trapped below he was fighting his way through the remains of the mercenary group and the farmers, who were not very well trained to say the least. If they weren’t shooting each other they were hitting the wall or the mercenary’s in an attempt to hit Zero, They were no match for him. One after the other got him self killed. As soon as he got the chance he jumped up to try and stop Janna from making the worst mistake of her life. In a quick move the Agent kicked him away and concentrated on Janna, who was now closer to the dark side than ever. Zero jumped up to the roof again, this time he would not be that easy to defeat. He grabbed his Lightsaber and attacked the Agent, who was no match for two Jedi. So he fled, the first chance he got he ran into the underground passages underneath the farm.

“Look what you did, you chased him away, now he’ll escape for sure” Janna screamed Zero kicked her Lightsaber out of her hand, grabbed her, pushed her to the floor and said “calm down, control yourself, focus, He ran to hide. There is only one way in or out of there, We’ll take him together. Remember your vision, I’ll die before you turn to the dark side”

At first she tried to fight him, but he was to strong, he used his weight to force her down. eventually she realized he was right. But she did not want to admit that at first, but he was right. Eventually she said. “I’ll kill you myself if you dare die. You’re right, I almost gave in. Lets follow him down there and take him together”

“grab your saber and lets go kick his ass” was his reply.

They followed the Rogue Imperial Agent into the underground passages, they had no idea where he had gone or what he was trying to accomplish by running down there. But they soon found out when they heard a warning message coming from one of the chambers “WARNING Self-destruct ACTIVE, Abandon this facility, Self-destruct ACTIVE, counting down. Detonation in 10 minutes.”

“That doesn’t sound good,” Janna noted.

“Lets find the coward and get this over with before we blow up,” Zero said

Les that a second after he finished that sentence they were jumped by the agent, he had kicked Zero away and attacked Janna, she defended herself well, her saber skills had really improved over the pas months. But she was not good enough, she was no longer driven by hate. The agent cut her Lightsaber in two pieces and kicked her down, this was it, he would kill her. with one fast move Zero jumped forward, stopped the agents blade millimeters from Janna’s head and said “new lets see how good you are against some one your own size”

And started battering his defenses and driving him further and further back, eventually there was a brief pause, the agents death was near. Zero said “unlike Janna I can tap into my darker side and use it against you without turning to the dark side, that’s a skill Master Windu thought me”

“This is something I thought Myself, “ the agent said and force pushed Zero away. The agent Jumped at him, he tried to kill him but Zero kicked the Lightsaber out of the agents hand. Janna picked it up and planted it in the mans stomach. He stepped back, he looked at the saber, pulled it out of his own body and attacked the Jedi in his rage. With his first move Zero cut his hands of, with the second he cut straight through the agents knees, separating his lower legs from the rest of his body. Janna picked up her former Masters saber and walked towards the agent. “Kill me,” the agent said.

“look at you, you’re not worth killing, besides I don’t see you walking up to that ladder, climbing that ladder and walking towards the only room were you can disable that self-destruct,” Janna said. She deactivated her new Saber “if you can do that, than you deserve to survive this” she added and walked away.

They had left the farm and were now walking back to their own hideout in the lake country, they heard a Huge explosion. “do you think he got out alive? “Zero asked.

“No, You locked the only door to that underground base of his” Janna replied.

“You noticed that? “ Zero said.

“Yes, I noticed………………..and, Thank you……” she said.

“what for?”

“For looking after me, making sure I didn’t make the worst mistake of my life,” she said

“If you had turned to the dark side I would have been forced to kill you, something I’m not sure I can do”

“then my vision would have come true, you would have died,” she said and stopped walking. She grabbed his hand and said “Promise me you will never leave me, promise me…….”

He hesitated for a second…… “I promise, I’ll never leave you, NEVER….” He said and Kissed her…………

The next morning when they woke up, Janna found herself lying in his arms. She looked at the time, woke him up and said. “time to get up, we’ve got a audience with Queen Apailana in an hour and a half, we can’t afford to be late.”

“No, we’ve got plenty of time, that’s not until 1300 hours,” he said.

“its eleven thirty, we have to hurry,” she replied. “I’m going to take a shower, when I’m done You’ll be ready to leave, other wise we’ll be late. And we don’t want to make the queen wait, now do we,” She said

“Eleven thirty? That means our new Padawan arrived half an hour ago, Ralack called in last night when you were asleep to let us know about their arrival time.”

“So our young friend has been waiting for us down in the space port for half an hour? That’s not too nice of you.” She said.

10 minutes later they where traveling to the city by speeder, when they finally arrived in the space port there was a young Jedi waiting for them. “You must be Jedimca0, Master Yoda told me you’d probably be late, I’m Lance, pleased to meet you Master” He said.

“At least we got here, pleased to meet you too Lance……Oh, and forget about the Master thing, just call me Zero. You already know Janna right?”

“Yes Mas....ehh....Yes I do, Zero” Lance said.

The three left for the Royal palace shortly after that, they were going to meet the queen and discus some recent developments. Once they had arrived at the palace they waited until the queen and her advisors came to meet them. “Lance,” Zero said “once the queen arrives you will be quiet, you won’t say a word unless you are spoken too, You will merely observe. And if the unexpected happens and the queen should talk to you, you will address as Her Royal High…..” He stopped talking when he saw the queen approach. He made a slight bow and said, “Your Royal Highness Queen Apailana of Naboo, It’s an Honor to meat you, My name is Jedi Master Zero, this is my trusted friend Janna and our apprentice Lance.”

“It’s an honor your majesty,” Janna said. The queen looked at Lance, but he said noting until Janna discretely pushed him forward. “It’s an……honor…eh…..your majesty,” he finally said.

“It’s an honor to meet you too Master Jedi,” the queen said. “Please sit down, we’ve got a lot of things to discus,” she added.

They sat down. “Your majesty, we need to talk about the Jedi you’re hiding in the city, I do not believe it is in the best interest of Naboo to be harboring Enemy’s of the Empire,” Zero said. Janna already started to look worried, although she agreed with Zero, she knew exactly what this discussion would lead to and she did not like it.

“Are you saying we should not help those in need of our assistance Master Jedi?” the queen asked.

“No Your highness, I’m not saying that, It’s just not safe to have that many Jedi on one Planet. Rumors have already started to spread about Naboo being a safe haven for Jedi on the run. It won’t be long before the Empire comes her and Kills you and the Jedi you’re hiding,” Zero said.

“They would not dare, we are a peaceful planet, we will resolve our matters Diplomatically. I’ve already sent several Ambassadors to Coruscant,” the queen replied.

“Your highness, Do you really think that matters, the Empire does not care about you or your peace full nature,” Janna said

“have you got any idea what a the Emperor will do when he finds out you’re harboring Jedi, your highness?” Zero asked. “They will kill you, every key government official they can find, Every one that resists and Each and every civilian that is unfortunate enough to be out on the street that day,” Zero explained.

The Queen looked worried, She was clearly thinking of what the Jedi had told her. Then one of the queen’s guards walked in to the room, whispered something in the ear of the queen and walked up to Zero, Janna and Lance. “I’m afraid you’re going to have to leave, the Queen has pressing matters to attend to, you can come back tomorrow at 1400” the guard said

“we’ll be back tomorrow, ”Zero said and they left the palace.

Why did you agree to come back tomorrow, what is it that you’re not telling me?” Janna asked when they were outside.

“It’s simple, I heard what the guard said to the queen, and I sensed what had just happened,” Zero said “one of the queens ambassadors had returned, partially anyway”

“What do you mean?” Janna asked

“The Empire has sent back the mans Head, one of his arm and part of one of his legs”

Janna did not know what to say, she knew what this meant. An Attack was drawing nearer, but they had no idea when, it could be months, weeks, days or even Hours...............................

Chapter 6: Jedi Wisdom

It was now almost a day after they had last spoken to the Queen of Naboo, they were once again in the Royal palace waiting for her to arrive. When she finally did it became clear that the death of her ambassador had convinced her of the fact that you can not negotiate with the Empire. The queen and her advisors had been discussing military options, something Zero did not approve.

“What do you think an Army will change, if the Empire wants you dead then You will die,” Zero said to the queen.

“Is that some sort of threat, Master Jedi,“ one of her advisors said.

“NO! it’s a FACT” Zero said “With All respect your Highness, but this is not the time for debate or War, this is the time to cooperate with the Empire. Make them believe your loyal and strike when the time is right,” he added.

“The time is right Master Jedi, if more systems side with us we will be able to stop them,” the Queen said.

“No one will be stupid enough to side with you, Your highness” Zero responded.

“He is right,” Janna said “If you resist now, the Empire will destroy you”

“Master Jedi, if you support us we might be able to form an alliance with other planets and stand up to the Empire” The Queen said

“Like I just said, No one will be stupid enough to side with you and I’m not suicidal. If you’ve got a death wish, be my guest and give the Empire a reason to kill you. They’re already hunting me, I’m not going to blow my cover by joining you. Make the Empire believe you’re loyal and over time your loyalty will be rewarded and when the time is right, You, together with the rest of the Galaxy will be able to defeat the Empire. Trust me, I beg you your highness,” Zero said.

“Now is the time to strike, Master Jedi. The fact that you can not see it puzzles me,” The Queen said.

“That’s it, Janna, We’re Leaving” He said “It was a pleasure to meet you again Your Royal Highness, But I’m afraid we no longer feel welcome in you presence. I hope you survive the Imperial attack, I do not know when, but I assure if you continue on this course it will happen. I’m sorry you can not see that, I wish a good day your Highness,” he said and they left.

Outside the Palace Janna asked him “why could you not just control yourself, you do realize we’ve just lost our only ally”

“I WAS CONTROLLING MY SELF,” He shouted “If I had stayed in there a Minute longer I would have ripped her guts out, and I know, we’re on our own now” he added

“It’s okay, at least you left the honor of killing her to the Empire” She said and smiled at him.

He laughed and said “Yes I did, I was planning on mentioning this during our meeting but since the queen would not listen to us, I’ll just say it…..I’ve got a surprise for you,” He said

“A surprise that was meant for the queen, now you’ve got me curios,“ She said.

“I found an Abandoned Venator-class Star Destroyer in a nearby asteroid field. It needs a lot of attention, but the Empire thinks it’s been destroyed in the Clone Wars, They’ll never find us there,” He said and saw Janna light up, she really liked this surprise.

“.....Ehhhh…..I’m speechless……..First Question, Define attention,” she said.

“The engines are beyond repair, the main thrusters have been shot off by a separatist cruiser, the area of the ship which housed the Hyperdrive has been replaced by a huge hole, the Weapons intact but offline and the main bridge only needs a few new windows. We do need to get the power generators back online if we’re going to get the weapons working again” He said.

“somehow I get the idea that the complicated repairs needed to get the generators back online will be the easiest thing that needs to be fixed, please tell me I’m wrong” She replied

“I’m sorry, due to the Massive Hull breaches the entire Ship has been depressurized, we’ll need to Re-pressurize most of the ship if we’re going to have any chance of fixing it” he said

“That’s just great, It’s going to take months to do that” she replied.

By the time they got back to the lake country Janna could not stop thinking nor talking about her fixing a Huge Venator-class Star Destroyer, she started planning the trip to the asteroid field the minute they got back. She made an entire list of supplies, tools, and spare parts they were most likely going to need. Zero gave her all the information he had secretly gathered about the ship, most of it came form the Jedi Archives where Master Yoda had stored it. According to Imperial archives the Star Destroyer was not damaged during the clone wars, but Destroyed. The Empire had no idea this ship still existed, it would be a perfect place to hide, if they could manage to fix it. While zero spend most of his time that week training their apprentice, Lance. Janna spent of the time planning for Her Project, as she called it. Zero had given her total freedom in this mater, she made sure she got everything she needed, including one young Jedi Master and an apprentice to do the heavy lifting and to assist her.
One day before the planed trip Janna explained to Zero and Lance how they were going to do this.

“We’ll enter the ship through that Airlock , we will then be only a few meters form the power generators which will be the first thing we fix, You’ll need to help me get all the heavy equipment on board first, then I want you and Lance to start working on sealing some of the hull breaches, once you’re done with that we’ll close a few blast doors and re-pressurize a few compartments, ” she explained.

“So we have to take orders form you now?” zero asked

“Yes, You’re the one that gave me total freedom,” she replied

“She’s right about that Zero,” Lance commented.

“Yes I guess she is. Good observation, Lance. You’ll do the Heavy lifting, I’ll fix the hull breaches,” he said.

“You’ll both help me, besides you’re not going out there to fix those breaches alone, it’s too dangerous,” Janna said, Zero knew it was best not argue with her, at least not in front of their Padawan and besides, she would win the argument anyway.

“Alright, We’ll do this your way. Lance, I’ll be testing your saber skills this afternoon, Training Saber Dual 1500, You better go and prepare yourself you’ve still got 5 hours,” Zero said. Lance left to ready himself for the test that he would face, his Master was a expert swordsman trained by Masters Yoda and Windu. Up until now he had only seen Janna struggle to best Zero, Although she succeeded from time to time this, this was going to be the first time he would take on Zero himself.

“Aren’t you being to hard on him,” Janna asked

“No, You’ve been spoiling him for to long, I’m not going to let him win, I’m going to show him is weakness like I did with you and like you he’s going to learn from it,” He said and moved closer to her

“I hated you for 2 weeks after that” she said

“Look how close we are now,” He said, she looked at him and walked away. “Where are you going,” he asked.

“I’m going to help Lance by telling hem some of your weaknesses,” she replied.

It was clear that she did not agree with him on that part of their Padawans training, but that did not matter in the end he got what he wanted. He had been trying to get Janna to work on her saber skills for a week now. That afternoon they would finally see how good Lance really was with a Lightsaber.

It did not take Zero much effort to defeat him the first time, but the young Jedi learned fast, the second dual he almost scored a kill but a quick response from Zero shattered that dream, he grabbed a second training Saber and defeated Lance again. The third time Lance did not make the same mistake, this time he was even able to hold out against his master for half an hour before Zero eventually said that Lance had defended himself well and that he had completed this training session successfully, he had proven he could defend himself in combat Zero and Janna would now take him with them the next time they would go to fight the Empire. Later Zero and Janna discussed Lance’s success in their private cambers, they both agreed that Lance would prove to be a great asset to their team, although his training was everything but complete.

The next morning it was, again, up to Janna to make sure everyone got out of bed in time. When she woke up she saw Zero was still fast asleep despite the loud alarm. “Wake up,” she said while trying to wake him, eventually he woke up. “what time is it,” he asked.

“Time to get up,” was the reply. “come on, we’ve got lots of things to do today,” Janna said.

Zero got up and walked up to her “Relax, we’ve got plenty of time, it’s only a 15 minute trip to the asteroid field,” he said, she kissed him and said “I know, Thank you for finding this ship for me to fix” he knew exactly what she meant, although she liked the fact she would be fixing a Venator-class star destroyer, they both knew it would not be easy in fact it would be the most dangerous thing they did so far. 20 minutes later they were in the middle of the asteroid field approaching the Star Destroyer. They docked with the severely damaged ship and got their gear on. “Seal your suits, there isn’t going to be any breathable air on that ship until we can the life support back online,” Janna said.

They went to work right away, it took Janna 8 hours to get the power generators back online, meanwhile Zero and Lance worked on sealing some of the hull breaches. As soon as they had both power on board and had sealed the hull breaches in what they had named Section Alfa, they were able to close a few blast doors and completely isolate Section Alfa from the dangers of space. It took them another 2 hours to get the life support functioning again but after 10 hours of hard work they had secured an area twice the size of the their ship, the Lightning II, although compared to the rest of the star destroyer it was just a small compartment. An hour later Janna had restored the artificial gravity and they could finally take their magnetic boots of and get some rest. Janna estimated it would take them months to get the entire star destroyer re-pressurized, they would also need to fix several key systems along the way like the proton torpedo targeting systems and the ships shields. They had found some crew quarters among the rooms they secured, Zero had another surprise for Janna, He had said that, as soon as they were re-pressurized, the Captains private cambers would be THEIR quarters. But it would take at least two more weeks before they could finally get the command section, in which these quarters were located, re-pressurized.

A week later they were making real progress, they had re-pressurized some of the star destroyers larger Hangers and had transformed some of them in to training area’s in which they could continue Lance’s training and keep their own skills ready to fight the empire if needed. They were now more and more talking about what they would do once they had re-pressurized the command section of the ship, accomplishing this would mean they controlled a third of the large ship. They were thinking about stopping once they had access to the command section, a third of a Stardestroyer that size would be more than enough room for 2 Jedi and their apprentice.

Three days later Janna and Zero were working on the Bridge Elevator, if they could fix it they would be able to get up to the bridge and put in a few new windows, after that it would be easy to re-pressurize it. They were almost done when they received a panicking message from R4 who was in Section Alfa, monitoring the ships systems.
“BLIEP BLIEP, BLIE BLOOP BLIEP”

“Calm down R4, what is it, what transmission?” Zero asked.

“BLIEP BLIEP, BLIE BLOOP BLIEP,” the droid responded.

“Yes, you already said that, what important transmission form Naboo? Ahh, Never mind, I’m coming down there,” Zero said. “I’m coming with you,” Janna said

Once they got to Section Alfa, Janna took over the Transceiver controls from R4, who was still panicking about something terrible. “I’ve never seen him like this before,“ what could he have received that got him to panic like that,” Zero said.

“I don’t know, but I am picking up a transmission from Naboo. It’s on a unencrypted, unscrambled frequency, I’ll put it on speaker,” Janna said.

“This is Lieutenant Ralack of the Royal Naboo Security Forces, Code Red I repeat Code Red, we are under heavy Imperial attack, they’re everywhere, our defenses are not holding. I’m getting reports of Imperial troops landing les than 700 meters form the Royal Palace, They’re walking right over us, they’re killing everyone they find, I repeat Code Red, Code Red, we need immediate assistance, Is anyone receiving this?”

Zero did not hesitate for a second, Janna tried to warn him that the frequency was not secure and that he Empire might be listening, but he had already hit he transmit button.

“Ralack, This is Zero, what’s your location and situation,” he said.

“I’m on the outskirts of the city with 30 elite members of the royal guard, we haven’t seen many imperials yet but that’s just because they’re focusing on the center of the city and the Palace at the moment, it won’t be long until hit us here,” Ralack said.

“Don’t worry, we’ll be with you in 20 minutes. Defend the city, Hold your ground, Do not under any circumstance Fall back, Do not allow your position to fall into enemy hands. Zero out,” Zero said. He grabbed his comlink and said, “Lance, Get you Combat gear on we leave in 2 minutes”

2 minutes later they were back in the Lightning II ready to leave. “What happened, where are we going,” Lance asked.

“The Empire is attacking Naboo, I’m not entirely sure what we’re going to do either,” Janna said.

“We’re going to be Foolishly Brave and walk into a War Zone,” Zero said.

“And that means,” Lance asked

“It means we’re going to walk a war zone with knowing what we will find in there,” Zero said “or if we’re going to come out alive,” Janna continued.

“I’m already regretting I asked that, I like the First answer Better,” Lance said.

They all knew this was going to be it, they would either save a lot of people from the Empire, or get them selves killed………………

Chapter 7: Imperial Diplomacy

It was 15 minutes after they had received a desperate call for help from Ralack on Naboo, it did not take them long to get ready, they kept all their Combat gear onboard the Lightning II just incase they had to rush of somewhere. They had no idea what they were going to find, nor did they know if they were going to be in time to save at least Ralack.

“We’re almost there, Janna, activate the Cloak,” Zero said.

“Cloak activated, do I need to remind you not to accelerate to fast with cloak on? I’m detecting multiple Imperial Star destroyers in the system,” Janna replied

“don’t worry, I won’t make that mistake twice. We’ll land 200 meters south of Ralack’s position, Lance you’ll stay with ship, I ....ehhh…. need you to fly it in case we need help,” Zero said.

5 Minutes later they were on the ground Zero and Janna had made their way to Ralack’s position. “don’t shoot, it’s just us,” Zero said.

“I’m so glad to see you, I wish it could be under better circumstances,” Ralack said.

“We all knew this would happen, it was just a matter of when, how will we proceed,” Zero said.

“You’re the Jedi, I was thinking you could take command,” Ralack said.

“Alright then, Map,” Zero said “Right here, Sir,” one of the sergeants answered “SitRep,” Zero said

“What’s a SitRep,” Lance asked. “It’s short of Situation Report, and I thought I told you to stay with the ship,” Zero replied .

“You did, but I figured, R4 can fly the ship almost as good as you and Janna can fly it half as good as R4 and I barely rival her, so if she gets to come with you why cant I,” Lance replied

“So you’re saying your of more value to us out here?” Zero asked

Lance knew his answer to that question would be crucial to convincing Zero to let him come with them, he thought about it for a moment and said, “No, I’m just saying I’m better at braking stuff than I am at flying the ship” Zero looked at Janna, some times Lance got the idea that the two could communicate without words or signs, just a quick look was enough for them. “Agreed,” Zero said “Now how about that SitRep,” he added.

It took Ralack about 2 minutes explain the situation, the main attack was directed at the Royal Palace and because of an automated turret system the Imperials were unable to attack the palace directly, the turrets needed to be shut down for that to be possible. “to disable those turrets they would have to use any or all of these streets to get to that control console,” Ralack explained and marked the streets they Imperials were most likely going to use on the map.

“We need to get to the palace, and get the Queen out of here before that happens, we can’t use those streets are there any other ways to get inside the palace?” Zero asked.

“No, but I could get you to the Palace wall,” Ralack replied.

“That’ll have to do, luckily I always pack a few extra toys,” Zero said

Ralack did not even ask what he meant by that, he knew he would not like the answer. They quickly moved trough the dark streets of theed, hoping they would not encounter the Imperial troops, until the Queen was safe. Suddenly Zero gave the command to stop. “what is it”, Ralack asked. “Imperial patrol, I can sense them,” Zero said. “The palace wall is right around that corner,” Ralack said

“That explains it, Ralack wait here, Janna, take 10 men, move 50 meters to our left flank and make sure there aren’t any more surprises waiting for us. Lance, take 5 men and move 100 meters to our right flank and secure that large building, everyone keep an eye out for approaching imperials, I’ll deal with the patrol,” Zero said and moved towards the corner.

He waited a moment and reached out trough the force, he could feel the presence of the troopers. “strange…..” he whispered. Then he literally flew around the corner, He was moving so fast the troopers did not even see him, he pulled out his lightsaber and ignited it at the last second, he cut the first trooper in two, kicked the second trough a fence, stabbed the third through the head and decapitated the fourth in one move. The other trooper had gotten up so he force pushed him in to a sharp end sticking out of the damaged fence. “sir, we need help, it’s a J….”, the fifth trooper managed to shout into his helmet comlink right before he noticed the blade sticking out of his stomach. “Damn,” Zero said and grabbed his comlink “Janna, Ralack get over here,” he said.

“These guy’s are really good, that one managed to get a message out, we’ve 10 minutes before the main force responds,” Zero said when Janna and Ralack arrived.

“Oh no,” Janna said “Look at their uniforms under that armor, they’re 501st,” she continued.

“I knew there was something familiar about these guys.” Zero said “Alright, Correction, we now have 5 minutes before the main force responds,” he then said.

“We need to locate and extract the Queen ASAP, Janna I need a hole in that wall,” he continued, grabbed his comlink and said ”R4 takeoff, there is a large square marked in the Ships computer as Point Charlie, that is now our primary extraction point, stand by to land there while we locate the queen” he said, he then turned to one of the sergeants and said “Sergeant take 4 men and reinforce Lance, tell him only to brake radio silence if he sees a Large Imperial force approaching our location or the extraction point” He continued. “Yes, Sir” the sergeant replied.

“Wait a minute,” Ralack said, “You mentioned a hole in the palace wall, you do realize that wall is 3 and a half meters thick,” he continued.

“don’t worry,” Janna replied “At it’s maximum setting this explosive is powerful enough to blow a hole in a star destroyers hull the size of a Rancor, it’ll get trough this wall,” she continued

“WHAT, Are You out of your mind, you’ll blowup half the palace,” Ralack said.

“Don’t worry, I’m setting it to 20 percent of maximum, it’ll blow nice little hole in this wall, big enough for us to get trough, I think…..” She replied.

“Alright, Everyone take cover,” Zero said. They moved to take cover in an ally about 15 meters from the wall, Ralack did not look to happy about this. “FIRE IN THE HOLE” Zero said and hit the button on the remote detonator, a loud explosion followed…….

When the smoke cleared they were able to see the size of the hole in the wall. “A nice, LITTLE, hole you said?...” Ralack said.

“Alright, I might have underestimated the magnitude of the explosion, but you have to admit, it is big enough for us to get through,” Janna said. In fact the hole was big enough for a speeder to get trough, but they were in, that was all that mattered. Now all they had to do was find the Queen and get her out of there. They rushed trough the palace towards the sounds of the Battle that was raging in the courtyard, then they heard a disturbingly loud explosion. “What was that,” Zero asked.

“It came from the direction of the turret control console, those turrets are all that stands between the Empire and the palace,” Ralack said. They hurried to where they thought the queen was, when they got there all they found were a dozen of the queens Guards and about 8 members of her government. “Where is the queen?” Zero asked.

“She went outside together with the Jedi who were Hiding on the planet” one of the men said “in an attempt to reach the hanger and escape, we did not dare go out, we were afraid we might get ki……” he continued but Zero was no longer listening he was now running toward the courtyard, Janna and Ralack followed him. When they reached the courtyard they could see the Jedi and the Queen fight the 501st legions best stormtroopers. Janna wanted to go and help them, but Zero stopped her, the Queen had been hit by 4 or 5 snipers that were sitting on the rooftops around the courtyard, one by one the Jedi fell.
“there is nothing we can do,” Zero said. “We need to get out of here,” Janna said. “Let’s go, we have to move fast,” Zero said.

“Why,” Ralack asked “we might as well all be dead,” He said Zero wanted to say something, but then he noticed most of the Elite guards had the same look on they’re face. If they were going to get out of there in one piece he needed those men, yet they did not seem to care. Zero waited a moment and said.

“YES, the Queen is dead, most of your key government officials are dead, But does this mean that you can just sit here and wait for the 501st to barge in and kill all of you, NO, IT DOES NOT. We can save the few surviving members of your government, I know a place where they would be safe, where you would be safe. But we’ll need to fight our way to the Hanger, there is more than 50 of you, we can’t take all of you in our ship”

“He’s right,” Ralack said “What about our families?” one of the Sergeants asked

“We will be back for them, I promise you, you will see them again in a matter of days, a week at most, but we still need to get past those snipers in the courtyard, any ideas,” Zero responded.

“We don’t need to worry about those, close to the hole you blew in the palace wall is an Ally that leads directly to the Hangers,” Ralack said.

“What are we waiting for then,” Zero said, the guards and the surviving members of Naboo’s government got up, those who were not already, armed them selves and followed Zero and Janna. Zero informed R4 that they would be leaving through the hanger, he told the droid to meet them there with the ship. When they reached to the hole they had blown in the wall they received a disturbing message from Lance. “There are at least two companies of troops and two tanks heading your way,” he said.

“Don’t worry about it kid, just get back here,” Zero said “Janna, get them to the hanger, Ralack and I will take care of this,” he said to Janna.

“NO WAY,” she responded.

“Janna, we don’t have time to argue about this,” Zero said.

“You’re right we don’t have time to argue, but we do have a Padawan and the remainder of Naboo’s government to think about,” Janna said.

“Alright, but just because I know you won’t listen to me anyway,” Zero replied.

Once Lance arrived he was tasked with leading the remainder of Naboo’s government about to the Hanger, 10 guards were sent with him. The rest, about 30 Elite Guards and a few other armed security officers remained with Zero, Janna and Ralack. Zero immediately began organizing the guards. “Sergeant, I want those 2 heavy repeaters set up on those rooftops, send 5 men with them to defend the Gunners, EVERYONE ELSE pick a good spot around those buildings or behind the Wall’s debris and stay down until I give the order to fire,” He said.

Soon after that they saw the firs company of Stormtroopers approach them, the only thing the troopers saw were 2 persons standing in the middle of the street. The troopers stopped about 20 meters in front of them, Zero looked up, he had a fearless look on his face, a look that temporally scared the fearless troopers of the 501st.
Then the first of the troopers pulled his trigger, immediately Zero and Janna jumped up and grabbed their Lightsabers, the Stormtroopers did not know what hit them, both Jedi were too fast for them, then when they almost had them cornered Zero shouted “FIRE, FIRE NOW” Suddenly the Queens Royal guards got up and Opened fire, the heavy repeater rifle squads on the rooftops mowed down a third of the company’s 144 troopers in les than 7 seconds.
Zero kicked the company’s captain right into Janna’s waiting Saber, she pulled her saber out of the now dead company captain and cut two more troopers in half, she then force pushed four of them against a wall and jumped after them, in one quick move she killed all four of them. Meanwhile Zero had grabbed and ignited his second, purple colored, Lightsaber. He was moving so fast that all the troopers saw was a yellow and purple light approaching them when it was already far to late.

The last few survivors of the first company fled, but Zero could hear this was not over. 10 seconds later they could see another full company and 2 tanks come around the corner. “Janna, you and guards deal with the troopers I’ll take care of the tanks,” Zero said.

“Don’t do anything stupid,” she responded. “don’t worry, I won’t,” Zero said.

Then One of the tanks fired a missile, it was heading directly for Janna, Zero jumped in front of her and reached out through the force, the missile stopped inches from his hands. He then pushed it the direction of the approaching Stormtroopers, with a devastating result. Janna engaged the troopers while Zero walked up to the tanks. Deflecting their laser fire with his sabers, then, when he was close enough, he lowered his sabers, deactivated them and attached them to his belt. He raised his hand, reached out trough the Force and made a crushing motion, immediately the first tanks armor began to buckle and crumble. The second tank fired, but a quick move made sure the first tank would block the shots. He then force pushed what was left of the first tank against the second tank. Then he pushed both thanks into a building and an explosion followed. He had a satisfied smile on his face after that, the Empire had send it’s best Legion to Naboo, and they were beating them. A few moments later he jumped over to join Janna and fight the Stormtroopers who retreated as soon as they realized they could not win.

“Pack up, lets get to the Hanger,” Zero said and they left for the Hanger once they got there they saw Lance had found about 10 pilots and a dozen engineers that had been hiding in the Hanger, then Janna noticed something. “would you look at that, a Naboo Star skiff. Did I ever tell you I like chromed ships?” she said.

“You might have mentioned it once or twice. Lance, board that star skiff and follow us home. Sergeant, we can take 20 of you with us in the Lightning II, the rest will have to get in those shuttles or the star skiff, make sure we don’t leave any one behind.” Zero said. He wanted to board the Lightning II but Janna stopped him “You saved me back there, thanks, or were you just trying to impress me?” she said.

“You know I’d never let anyone or anything hurt you. Telling Lance to take that star skiff, however, was an attempt to impress you,” He responded. “I like chromed ships almost as much as I like you,” she said and kissed him…….

3 minutes later they were leaving Naboo, they were taking little over 70 people spread over 3 shuttles, 1 star skiff and the Lighting II with them. But soon after they left Naboo’s orbit they had a problem.

“We’ve got an Imperial Star destroyer right behind us, thy're launching fighters,” Janna reported.

“don’t worry about it, we’ll be out of here before you know it,” Zero responded.

But shortly after he said that they received a transmission from one of the shuttles.
“This is shuttle 3, our shields are buckling, we can’t hold them any longer, they’ve almost got us a few more hits and we’ll be done for it,” A desperate Pilot said

“Alright, I’ve had enough of these guys, do you remember those heavy Ship to Ship missiles we found on our Venator,” Zero said.

“You mean the once we loaded in those missile tubes and welded under our wings,” Janna said

”Yep, those are the ones I’m talking about,” Zero said.

“Right, don’t suppose I could talk you out of this, I’m bringing the heavy missile targeting systems online, Standby,” Janna replied

“R4 activate the auxiliary power and shield generators and reinforce the forward shields, coming around, you better have those targeting systems ready” Zero said.

“Don’t worry about that, just make sure they don’t shoot us down,” Janna replied.

Zero took the ship around and flew straight towards he Stardestroyer. “Fighters incoming, activating the lasers,” Zero said and started blasting the fighters out of their way. They fighters quickly realized that they could not win this fight and withdrew, now it was the Star Destroyers turn. As soon as they got closer the star destroyer began concentrating it’s fire on them. “They really don’t like us do they? Any favorite targets you want me to hit or is the bridge shield generator and the main bridge enough,” Janna asked.

“No they don’t like us. Hit the main shield generator and then target these coordinates, It’ll cripple them” Zero said and gave Janna the coordinates.

“I’ve got a lock, arming the warheads…………warheads armed” Janna reported

“Alright, Fire one,” Zero said and Janna hit the flashing read button, firing one of the missiles “Missile one away,“ Janna said. About 10 seconds later the missile impacted on the Star Destroyers armor.

“Damn, of by 5 meters, but the their starboard shield is down,” Janna said.

“we’re in position, Fire Two,” Zero said and Janna fired the second missile “Missile two away,” she said. the missile hit the Star Destroyer a few seconds later.

“Direct hit, she’s crippled, we could finish her off in one attack run,” Janna said

“Let’s not overstep our boundaries here, there are two more star destroyers coming in, one looks like Vader’s personal ship to me,” Zero said

“Agreed, lets get out of here,” Janna replied.

30 seconds later they were in Hyperspace on their way to the Asteroid field, Janna couldn’t stop talking about her idea to weld those missile pods to the Lighting II’s wings and how SHE took down an Imperial Star Destroyer with them for the next day or two, of course she didn’t forget to mention she had an excellent pilot to get her in the perfect position for the second shot. But they had to start thinking about the future now, the safe haven of Naboo was no more, all they had was a damaged Star Destroyer that needed allot of work before it could become their base of operations, but is was all they had. To make their situation more complicated Zero had kept his promises to the brave people that helped them escape Naboo, less than a week later he went back to the planet to get their families, Besides the Royal Security Guards, Pilots and Engineers they had rescued, they now had about 100 civilians and of which at least 20 to 30 kids living with them…………

Chapter 8: Resistance

In the four weeks following the fall of Naboo more and more refugees found their way into the asteroid field and to the Venator class Star Destroyer Zero and Janna found there. All of these people were running from the Empire, most of them were wanted for questioning, which meant that as soon as the Empire found they would disappear………
The star destroyer was overcrowded, Zero and Janna even had to give up their private quarters to make room for a group of orphaned children. To make things a bit worse they still hadn’t been able to get the star destroyers main turrets functioning properly. Although they had fixed the problem with the targeting systems they still hadn’t tested it.

“Alright, Lets give it try,” Janna said “Are you sure you fixed it this time, because I really hate it when half the power lines in the ship overload,” Zero replied

“Don’t worry, that won’t happen, I’ve fixed it. Lock on to that large asteroid and prepare to fire” Janna said

“I’ve got a lock. Raising shields, we wouldn’t want the debris of that asteroid to undo all the repair work we did on the outer hull,” Zero said. He grabbed his communicator and punched in a code “Zero to all decks, be advised, we’re about to test one the main turbolasers,” he said.

“Firing, in three, two, one.” After she said one she pushed the red flashing button and they heard a loud noise coming the turbolaser they were testing. They saw a blue colored burst coming from the turret and heading strait for one of the asteroids, but it missed.

“Damn, it missed the target by little over 200 meters,” Janna said

“That’s not good,” Zero commented “I thought you said you fixed it” he continued

“I said I fixed the power problem,” She replied “But I think I know what you missed,” she added.

“What I missed?” Zero asked “Yes, what you missed, you were supposed to get the targeting systems operating again, but since the turrets systems were beyond repair, you used the missile targeting systems instead, which are located roughly 200 meters from the turret. That explains why we missed. I’ll need to go and fix that” Janna said.

“No I’ll fix it, I made the mistake,” Zero said.

“No, I’ll need to get into the maintenance corridors again, and you know how narrow they get near the turrets,” She said.

“You like it in there, don’t you?” zero said “Yes, I like it in there. It’s nice and quiet, the best part is that there are no kids in there that get on my nerves,” she replied.

“come on, they’re not that bad.” Zero said “lets be honest, neither one of us had a decent night sleep after you picked up those orphans and decided they’d come and live in our quarter, then I don’t even mention the fact that they don’t listen to me and practically attack Lance when they see him, I know they just want to play with him, but he needs to be working on his training, not trying to get away form half a dozen kids.” She said
“They appear to be listening to me,” Zero responded “Yes, you’re their hero, they listen to you, but only to you and as soon as you leave me alone with them all hell breaks lose,” She said.

“Lets talk about this in the morning, don’t worry, I’ll take care of that problem while you fix those targeting systems, I promise,” Zero said. The way he looked at her when he said that convinced her, whenever he made a promise he kept it, she knew that. It was not that she did not want the children in their quarters, she just wanted them to listen to her and Lance, but they didn’t. There was no room for them on the rest of the ship, they would either get in the way of repair work or be in the more dangerous compartments and unsupervised. The youngest of the orphans was just 2 years old, while the oldest where 16. The older one’s weren’t the problem, the ones between the ages 6 and 14 did not listen to Janna or anyone else but Zero for that matter, the oldest one’s where quiet and only cared about revenge because they saw how their parents being murdered by the Empire, the youngest three who where 2, 2 and a half and 4 years old, kept them awake at night, crying for their mother.

The next morning Janna woke early because of what seemed a heated discussion in their quarters, at first she thought is were the children but when she wanted to ask Zero to go and check it out she noted that he was no longer lying next to her, then she clearly heard his voice in the other room. “You are NOT LEAVING,” she heard him say, curious about what was going on she got up, got dressed and went to check it out. In the room, which served as their living room onboard the star destroyer, she saw not only Zero and Ralack, but also a Royal security force Captain who they rescued a few days ago when he was about to be captured by an imperial cruiser, he was also technically Ralacks superior.

“What’s all of this about,” She asked “I just got the orphans to sleep two hours and I was hoping to get some sleep myself,” She added.

“The captain wishes to leave, and he wants to order all of security officers and guards to leave with him,” Zero said.

“Captain Typho is setting up a resistance movement on Naboo, He’ll need my men,” The captain said. “YOUR MEN,” Ralack immediately said.

“Ralack, calm down, those kids I mentioned are in the next room,” Janna said “Captain, all of Ralacks men are wanted by the Empire, sending them back to Naboo will not only get them killed but will also doom any resistance movement before it is even organized,” She continued.

“I see, the so called Jedi are teaming up against me,” The captain replied.

“Our personal relationship is none of your concern, Captain” Zero immediately said

“Perhaps it isn’t, but that does not change the fact that I am technically Lieutenant Ralacks superior, and I am ordering him to come with me to Naboo and I won’t let you stand in my way, I’m warning you Master Jedi,” The captain said.

Zero looked like he could grab his lightsaber and attack the man at any second, something which really concerned Janna, she looked at him and reached out through the force hoping that her thoughts could calm him down. It seemed to working, when Zero responded to the captains obvious threats his voice sounded calm, or at least calmer than before.

“Captain, because you seem to like all the technicalities, we’ll do it this way. When I was promoted to Jedi Knight during the Clone Wars I was also granted the rank of Jedi General, which makes me the senior and therefore the commanding officer on this ship, since you are technically part of the ships crew I can order to remain here, furthermore I consider your attempts to recruit my crew to be mutiny, last time I checked they shoot you for that sort of thing in times of war,” Zero said. But the captain did not look convinced.

“You’re not in the Royal security force, You can’t order me around, I’m leaving and I’m taking all the security officers and guard with me, don’t get in my way or you’ll regret it,” the captain said. Zero now had a familiar look on his face, a look that usually meant someone was going to get seriously injured or worse.

“Ralack,” he said “due to your heroic efforts in our attempt to save the queen I herby promote you to captain. Further more, I grant you the rack of Major, because of your exemplary performance in building a safe and secure base for all refugees that found their way here,” he then said, then he looked at the Captain and said “I could continue with you captain, but I doubt you’d like it, before I kick you out of our quarters there is just one more thing, I DO NOT respond well to threats, threaten me again and you’ll find yourself at the wrong side of my lightsaber.”

After that the captain left, he was clearly not happy, he knew there was no way he was getting out of that asteroid field without Zero’s permission, he also realized it was a bad idea to continue to try and convince other people to leave with him.

“this solves nothing,” Ralack said after the door had closed.

“No it doesn’t, but it buys us time, the captain is not going try anything stupid the next few days, Ralack, I don’t want any rumors to spread about this, tell your men everything that happened here so the captain won’t be able to spread lies about it, those men will follow you no matter what, don’t worry about their loyalty,” Zero replied.

Ralack left the room to inform his men about what had happened, hoping Zero was right.

“I’m going to see if can fix those targeting sensors,” Janna said.

“I’ll solve your problem,” Zero replied.

“What ever you do, don’t wake them up, they’ve only been asleep for two hours now,” Janna said

“Don’t worry, I’ll let them sleep another four hours, then around ten o’clock I’ll make some breakfast, the smell of that will wake them up, I hope.” Zero said.

“Breakfast?” Janna said, “around ten? I think I’ll drop in around that time, if you don’t mind” she continued.

“Of course I don’t mind,” he replied

“I’ll be back around ten,” she said and kissed him.

After Janna Left Zero was wondering why the orphans did not listen to Janna and why they did listen to him, could it be that they listen to him because he was the one that got them of Naboo? About three weeks ago he had found them, hiding in an abandoned building on Naboo, when an Imperial patrol decided to check the building to see if they could spend the night there. He had no choice, if the empire had found the children in there they would have been arrested, he had jumped out a window and completely wiped out the Imperials. Then he had taken the thirteen kids with him, when he got back to the Star Destroyer, Janna did not look happy to see al those children. There was nobody that wanted to take care of them, and because they had survived together on Naboo, keeping them selves hidden from the Empire, for at least a week it was not wise to split them up, they had lost enough already. He had promised Janna that their quarters would only be a temporary solution and that he would find a place for the orphans where they would be looked after. It was not like Janna hated them, it was just that thirteen traumatized orphans where a bit too much for her, they all needed attention and they would all need help to deal with the things they saw. He did not know how to help them deal with these things, although Master Yoda did teach him a bit about dealing with things like that, he was hardly qualified to help young children deal with witnessing the brutal death of their parents. Janna wanted to help them, but she couldn’t, that’s what was bothering her. That combined with the fact that most of the orphans wouldn’t listen to a word she said was extremely frustrating to her, but he knew exactly what to do about that, or at least he hoped it would work. The oldest two where both 16, they were the only ones that, if they were not sitting in a corner thinking about how to avenge their parents, actually listened to Janna. If he could get them to back her up, the younger ones would too.

Four hours later Janna had fixed the targeting systems on three of the eight Heavy turbolasers and make it back to their quarters for breakfast. After breakfast they discussed the future, it was only a matter of time before the Empire would brutally seize control of another planet, Naboo was just the beginning, just a warning for other rebellious systems. Zero had been thinking about resistance ever since the attack on the temple, but before he could set up an organization Naboo had been overrun, although their hide out had not been found by the Empire, the planet was no longer safe. They had moved the last of their equipment of Naboo last week, even if the Empire found their former hideout they would not be able to identify it as such. Now that captain Typho was setting up a network on Naboo which would be, unlike Typho’s fellow captain on board their Star Destroyer had told them, a spy network with an option to sabotage Imperial assets if necessary. Zero had something else planed, he had noticed that a number of Imperial supply convoys frequently supplied the Imperial garrisons in the sector, the Naboo garrison received supplies every week, apparently the Empire did not trust the local population and were afraid that any supplies they received from them were sabotaged. They could use this to their advantage, but Janna felt that it was to dangerous to attack the supply convoys, she thought is was a good idea, especially because they had a wide variety of fighters on board most of them needed a lot of work, but they were technologically advanced fighters which were used during the Clone Wars by The Grand Army of the Republic, but they did not have experienced pilots to fly the ships. She knew that without proper training none of them would return, Zero was an excellent fighter pilot, she and Lance weren’t that bad either. But the other so called pilots did not have any combat experience worth mentioning, most of them had never even piloted a fighter before.

When Janna wanted to go and fix the rest of the turrets targeting systems Zero stopped her.

“We’ve got a malfunction in the shields, we need to go and fix it,” He said. For some reason Janna did not believe him, she was sure she checked the shields yesterday. But Zero managed to convince her. The main shield generator was located in a section of the ship that had been classified as dangerous, therefore nobody without clearance from Zero or Janna were allowed in there, they were completely alone in there. When they arrived at the main shield generator Janna checked the system and concluded that no malfunction had been reported, she turned around and asked “there is no malfunction, is there?”

“Nope……..did you happen to notice we’re all alone in here,” Zero responded as he moved closer to her.

“I did notice that, I also noticed you locked to doors,” She replied and started to kiss him…….

Two hours later they when they where on their way back to the inhabited part of the ship Zero told Janna that he had solved the problem with the orphans, curious about how he managed to do that Janna said ”I hope you didn’t Kill them.” He assured her that he found a diplomatic solution, the older ones had a huge influence on the younger ones, he had promised the oldest two that he would personally give them Special Weapons training if they listened to Janna and Lance, when they got back to their quarters they found out it had worked, in their absence Lance had even managed to work on his training while he kept an eye at the children.

When Zero went to inspect the repairs that the engineers had completed that day he ran into Ralack who him he had a problem, rumors about a resistance movement had spread amongst the people onboard the ship, they were all curios about is, a lot of them were willing to join this resistance. Zero assured Ralack that the problem would be solved. He then informed Janna that he made his decision and that he would need her help, she knew what he was talking about and she agreed that now was the time, Ralack had no idea what was going on. He went to the communications console in their quarters and activated the speakers on all decks of the Star Destroyer.

“Zero to all decks,” he said
“I’ve got an announcement to make, you’ve all been hearing the rumors about a Resistance movement, some of you have already packed their bags and intend to leave as soon as you find out where to go. The truth is, you don’t have to go anywhere, the resistance you’ve been hearing about is right here. We’ve got everything we need, a safe headquarters, plenty of fighter craft and people willing to join us. But what we don’t have is experienced pilots and soldiers, all we have is a few former security officers, thirty highly skilled elite guards and a handful of pilots that actually have combat experience. It will take weeks, perhaps even months before we will be able to face the Empire and win, until that time we will remain here and train all who volunteer to be the best. Once WE are ready there will be no imperial garrison in this sector that is immune to our sabotage, there will be no Imperial supply convoy that safe from our raids and there will not be a single Imperial soldier, pilot, crewmember or officer that will not fear us. Any one that is willing and able to join our cause and is at least sixteen years of age can report to Major Ralack or any one of his officers, they will make sure that you receive the best training. That will be all for now.” He said. Janna looked at his as if she was not happy about something “what is it?” he asked her.

“At least sixteen years of age, isn’t that a bit young?” she asked.

“Lance will be sixteen in two months, and two of the orphans, who I already promised special weapons training are already sixteen, we can’t make exceptions, if we say eighteen we would be forced to leave Lance behind and I would be forced to break my promises, and we could always give them two years of training before we sent them in to the field,” He replied

“Alright, I can live that,” Janna said.

An hour later over one hundred and fifty people had reported to Ralack and his men, many more would do the same during the next few days. The training would be hard and some of them would not finish it, but that day a resistance movement was born………….

Chapter 9:"Luck"

Two weeks after the formation of the resistance thing were looking good, they had been training the potential pilots for two weeks and today a simple test would reveal if they were ready......

“Imperial fighters straight ahead,” Janna said.

“I see them, take your strike wing to the right, we’ll take the left,” Zero replied. A few minutes of later all the Imperial fighters were destroyed. “We did it,” Janna said.

“Yes we did,” Zero said “But we also lost 6 of our pilots, we’re not even close to ready, Lance, deactivate the simulators, we’re done for today,” he continued. They had been training pilots for two weeks now and there was no visible change, he had to admit, this was more difficult than he had imagined but then again he was no expert flight instructor and he had never flown a ARC-170 in combat before, all he had flown in the Clone Wars was his Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor which was lost when the Jedi temple was attacked.

“Why are we stopping already it’s nine in the morning, we’ve got an entire day ahead of us” Janna said after she got out of the simulator.

“I can’t work with these guys, I can barely control my own 170 at times, these are no shuttles, these are Aggressive ReConnaissance-170 starfighters one of the most advanced and modern fighters used in the Republics Clone Army, they were flown by the most skilled of all the clone pilots and we’re trying to teach a group of shuttle pilots to fly these things. If that was real and not a simulation we’d have 6 family’s to talk to right now, trying to explain what went wrong,” Zero responded.

“You’re right, but what can we do to about it, what we need someone with some kind of experience as a flight instructor, some one that knows how to fly 170’s,” Janna said.

She was right, and Zero knew it, but where were they going to find a flight instructor they could trust. Fifteen minutes later Ralack contacted him and told him he was on his way back from Naboo. Ralack had gone to Naboo to meet captain Gregar Typho, to discus armed resistance. Until now Typho had only been planning to spy on the Empire and sabotage their equipment if it was worth the risk, it was highly unlikely he had changed his mind.

Half an hour later Ralacks shuttle had landed in the main hanger bay, Zero went to meet him.

“I’ve got good news and bad news,” Ralack said “The bad news is, my friend Gregar won’t be changing his plans, he will only spy on the empire, he thinks it’s to dangerous to form an armed resistance,” He continued

“That was to be expected, what’s the good news?” Zero said

“The good news is, I found an old friend of mine that wants to meet you, I think we could use his help,” Ralack said.

“An old friend of yours? Who is he?,” Zero asked.

“I’ll let him introduce himself, I brought some more people with me who are eager to join us, I’ve got to arrange some quarters for them,” Ralack said.

A scruffy looking man came out of the shuttle, he walked up to Zero and said. “You must be the Jedi everyone is talking about, I’m Arven Wendik, expert in capital ship capabilities, anti-warship strategies, fighter ace……” he said but before he could continue Zero interrupted him and said “You’re a fighter ace?”

“One of bravo squadrons finest,” the man responded.

“Any combat experience,“ Zero immediately asked.

“Bravo Three, Battle of Naboo, blasted a few droid fighters out of the sky, blew up a trade federation droid control ship………...actually Anakin Skywalker blew it up, we just helped, how about you?” Arven said.

“I saw a bit of action during the clone wars, me and my Eta-2 were unbeatable, unfortunately that advanced piece of technology was lost during, what the empire calls Operation Knightfall, we call the Temple massacre,” Zero responded.

“I’m sorry to hear that, I see you’ve got 170’s in your hanger,” Arven said

“Yes, we’ve got quit a few of those, just can’t seem to find any experienced pilots,” Zero said

“You’re in luck, guess what I did during the clone wars,” Arven responded “I flew patrols in my N-1 for most of the war, but near the end Naboo was planning to buy a squadron of 170’s from the Republic, so I, and 30 other pilots, were sent to Coruscant to learn how to fly them,” Arven said.

“You know how to fly a 170?” Zero asked

“Even better, I was not only trained as a flight instructor, but I was also lucky enough, well I wouldn’t call it luck, but anyway, I was on Coruscant when the Separatists attacked the planet and kidnapped the Chancellor,” Arven said.

“You were on the planet when the Seps attacked, what happened?” Zero asked

“We were one of the first squadrons airborne, allot of good clone pilots died that day but my squadron only lost two 170’s and 6 good pilots with them, that’s the biggest disadvantage of those fighters, it takes 3 pilots to fly them,” Arven said.

“You flew a 170 during the battle of Coruscant? I happened to be on the planet too, lead three squadrons of V-wings on desperate mission against several enemy capitol ships. Did you score any kills?” Zero said.

“Me and my guys must have blown half the Separatist Navy out of the sky, but that still didn’t stop them from escaping, luckily, or unfortunately depends on what side you’re on, they escaped after the chancellor, or should I say the Emperor, was saved,” Arven said. Zero could clearly feel his hatred towards the Empire and Emperor Palpatine in particular. “how about you, did you score any kills?” Arven asked. Zero laughed and said “Lets just say we blew the other half of the sep navy out of the sky, I’ve got a proposition for you, join us,” Zero said.

“Secret Jedi business you won’t talk about, right?” Arven knew he was right by the way Zero looked after he said that. “About your proposition, I’ve just got one question for you, if I join you, will I get a chance at shooting down Imperials?” Arven asked.

“If you agree to teach those shuttle pilots how to be fighter pilots and you agree to take orders from me you’ll get a chance at shooting down every single Imperial in this sector,” Zero said

“Good, you just found yourself a fight instructor, when do I start……Sir,” Arven said.

“How about, right now,” was the response.

Five minutes later the future pilots were back in the simulators, this time they had a new teacher. Janna had heard the simulators had been started up again and about an hour later she came to check it out, to her surprise she found all the future ARC-170 pilots in the simulators and Zero standing in the control room. “what’s going on?” She asked. When Zero explained to her that they had a new flight instructor with actual combat experience in a 170 she couldn’t believe him. After watching Arven teach for a few hours Janna said “I’ve got a surprise for you, follow me.”

He had no idea what she meant, and was curious about what kind of surprise she had for him. When they arrived at, what he thought to be, an empty hanger bay she stopped and opened the door. He could not see what was inside the hanger because the lights where off. “I found five of them when I first checked this hanger, two where beyond repair so I used them for spare parts. The other three turned out pretty good,” she said and switched on the lights in the first section of the hanger.

“What? I’m speechless” Zero said. He was looking at a pair of Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptors, better know as Jedi interceptors, Master Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker where only two of the legendary Jedi that had piloted fighters like these during the war, he once had one, but it was destroyed when the temple was attacked. “You said there where three? I only see two,” Zero finally said.

“Don’t worry, we’ll get to the third one soon enough,” Janna responded. “The one with the chrome wings is mine,” She continued.

“I thought that might be yours, and the black one?” he asked.

“An early birthday present for Lance…….Did you know you uploaded the technical schematics for your Eta-2 into the data core on this ship? ” she responded.

“Yes I did, why do you ask?” He asked.

“I used those to make a few adjustments to these two, and I used them for this,” She said and switched on the lights in the back of the hanger.

“I completely rebuilt your old fighter, I even painted it black with white lightning bolts on the wings to honor your call sign and I made a few extra modifications I think you’ll like.”

“What kind of modifications and how did you know about my call sign?” he asked.

“The call sign was easy, Lightning is all over your flight logs, as for the modifications, check underneath the wings, I added a missile rack capable of carrying 3 missiles under each wing and I boosted the engines, this is one of the fastest fighters in the galaxy.” She said.

“Impressive, when did you do all of this?” Zero asked.

“When you were on the bridge doing…….actually I don’t know what you’ve been doing all alone in your own corner of the bridge the past few weeks, I’m beginning to get the feeling you’ve got a surprise for me too, am I right?” she said.

“Very impressive, you’ve just proven why you’re the executive officer of this organization. Yes, I’ve got a surprise too. Do you remember Jed?” He said.

“Jed? Are you talking about that guy we rescued from that prison on Coruscant, yes I remember him, and you’re very reliable contacts that almost got us killed, is he the surprise? Because if he is, I’ll be very surprised but I doubt I’ll like it,” she responded.

”Don’t worry, he’s just a part of the surprise, you’re going to love this. Jed is the son of a Dornean admiral, he was arrested by the Empire because the ship under his command had attack an Imperial Star Destroyer. After we freed him he went back to Dornea, his father had no choice but to arrest him in order to avoid an Imperial attack. But in Jed’s absence, he had given orders to refit the ship, a Braha'tok-class gunship…..”

“Braha'tok-class? If I remember correctly those are about 90 meters long and carry enough fire power to easily take down a ship twice it’s size” Janna interrupted him.

“That is correct, but after the refit, this ship will have twice the fire power, twice the speed of a normal ship of that class and those are only the most notable modifications.” Zero said.

“What happened to Jed and his ship?” She asked.

“Jed lost his rank, but his crew was still loyal to him, together with his father they arranged for him to escape before Lord Vader arrived on Dornea to pick him up. Jed escaped and contacted Bail Organa, who then contacted me. The ship, now renamed Justice, will arrive tomorrow. It’s crew including Jed have agreed to join us. By this time tomorrow we will be in command of real war ship.” He explained.

“You were right, I love this surprise.” she said.

“Once the pilots are ready, we’ll show those Imperial supply convoys that what happened in orbit of Naboo was just the beginning.” He continued.

Three weeks later the former shuttle pilots had become real fighter pilots, they had been training in real fighters for about a week and a half now and most of that time they had spent in the hazardous asteroid field, dodging small asteroids and incidentally blowing them up.
Meanwhile a Gungan resistance group had been formed on Naboo, thinking they would be easily defeated, the Imperial garrison commander on Naboo had sent his troops and tanks into the swampland. The Gungans proved to be better organized and skilled than the Empire thought, several tanks had been damaged beyond repair and an Imperial supply depot had been destroyed. The Imperial garrison was now running low on food and fuel......

The Resistance leaders had now gathered to discus the next move, Zero was very pleased with the turnout, he entered the room and saw everyone but Captain Typho had responded to his call, Typho still thought that armed resistance was a bad decision.
“Welcome my friends,” he said. “Sit down, we’ll begin with an introduction. You all know Major Ralack, he’s the one who escorted most of you to this room, next to him you will find Arven Wendik, Leader of our ARC-170 squadron. The guys on the other side of the table are Jed, captain of our assault ship, the Justice and my apprentice Lance next to Lance seats Prince of Alderaan and the captain of the Alderaan Diplomatic Cruiser Tantive IV, Raymus Antilles, he will be representing Senator Organa. The last person on the table is captain Tarpals, leader of the Gungan resistance. You all know me, and the beautiful lady besides me, my second in command, Janna...”

The moment he called her a beautiful lady Janna knew this was going to be one of those long and boring meetings they both hated. Captain Tarpals explained that the Gungans where prepared to go down fighting and Zero assured him that would not be necessary. The Imperial garrison on Naboo was running out of fuel fast and a supply convoy had been sent to re-supply them. But this convoy was put together in a hurry and the Empire did not have enough ships to escort it. This meant that during the first 30 minutes after the convoy had entered the sector it would be protected by just one light corvette. Although that ship was twice as large as the Justice, Zero was confident that it could be done. Captain Antilles was concerned that attacking this convoy would draw to much attention, Zero had a plan but he dropped the matter, they where here to discuss future cooperation not to fight amongst them selves. Captain Antilles explained that Senator Organa was offering full financial support to both the Gungan resistance and Zero’s organization. The Gungans where pleased to hear this, but Zero was not sure what the Senator was planning, in his experience politicians always had their own agenda, he accepted the financial support but he made it very clear he was not taking orders from anyone but himself. They agreed that the Gungans would keep attacking the Imperial patrols on Naboo, keeping the troops moral low and fragile. Meanwhile Zero would lend the Gungans some of his Commando’s. They would be deployed in the city of Theed, there they would gather information about the imperial garrison and, if necessary, assist the Gungans during their raids on the Imperial supply bases.

Two days after the meeting the leaders of Zero’s organization discussed their attack on the supply convoy.

“Our primary objective will be the corvette, we will disable her with an ion mine and capture her, meanwhile we will also capture the convoys tanker, we need her fuel anything else is a bonus. We will destroy the ships we can’t capture. But what we should all remember is that after our thirty minutes the fighter escort from Naboo will arrive to escort the convoy to the planet, I do not want to be there when they arrive.” Zero explained.
“Janna will lead boarding party one, they will board and capture the corvette. Ralack’s best man, Master Sergeant Hawthorn, will lead boarding party two, they will capture the tanker and it’s fuel. Arven will lead the 170’s and I will be on the bridge of the Justice, we will be making sure none of the freighters escape during the attack. Lance and Jed will be with me on the bridge, and incase we run into trouble the Justice will be carrying 8 V-wings and two Eta-2’s.

“Ralack isn’t coming with us?” Lance asked.

“No, we need someone to stay here to lead the rest of our organization,” Zero replied.

“And someone has to look after those orphans and fortunately they like me,” Ralack added.

“This attack is not just about a supply convoy,” Janna said. “This attack will shatter the moral of the Naboo Garrison. They have been defending their swamp patrols from Gungan attacks for weeks now and they need these supply’s to survive, once they learn that the convoy has been raided, they will not know what hit them, they will lose the will to fight and the Empire will have no choice but to replace them,” She continued. “And the new troops will receive the same treatment. The Empire will learn that freedom can not be taken and we will teach them this lesson garrison by garrison if we have to.” She added.

“This attack will be risky, it will be dangerous, but, we can do this, we have to do this. If these supply’s reach Naboo we will have to wait another month for a second chance, and believe me, the Empire will not leave one of their convoys practically undefended again, especially after our attack.” Zero said.

“We all know what to do, get to your station and may the Force be with us.” Janna said.

They were now alone in the room “Do you really think this will work,” Janna said. She did not want to doubt his plan in front of the others because she felt that the two leaders should always be in agreement. “Yes, it will work because we will do it together, together we are strong. I just hope the Empire doesn’t have any surprises for us….” He replied.

“Don’t worry,” She said and stepped closer to him, “I’ll capture that corvette, all you have to do is make sure those freighters don’t shoot at us.“ she said. “Good luck,” She added and kissed him. “There is no such thing as luck,” He replied. “I know, I just said that because I knew how you were going to respond,” She said with a smile on her face.

10 minutes later they where on their way to a nebula where they would wait for the convoy to pass. Inside the nebula the convoys sensors could not see them until it was too late.

The tactical officer of the Justice was waiting for the convoy to be in the right position, when the corvette was directly besides the cloaked mine he reported; “Sir, the corvette is in position.” “Blow the mine,” Zero ordered. The mine detonated and rendered the corvette and several freighters, including the tanker, stunned. “Pilot, move out of nebula, boarding parties you know what to do, Arven keep those freighters from escaping,” Zero said. Everything went according to plan, the boarding parties boarded their targets and the fighters kept the other ships from escaping. But suddenly the tactical officer shouted; “General, I’ve got enemy fighters incoming and I’m picking up two assault gun boats coming strait at us,”

“Tactical analysis,” Zero said.

“They’re less than half our size, light armor, weapons and shielding. We could take them down, if they didn’t have a fighter escort.” The tactical officer reported. “We can’t stay and fight, we have to withdraw,” Jed, the captain of the ship, said.

“NO,” Zero shouted “WE can NOT, our boarding parties are in place, by the time they have retreated those ships will be all over us. We have no choice, we must turn and fight,” He added.

“Lance get to the hanger, scramble the V-wings, we’re going to need everything we can get,” He said to Lance. “Yes Master,” Lance replied and went to the hanger.

“You wanted to know why I replaced you as captain of this ship during this mission? This is why,” Zero said to Jed who was remembering he had asked about that when Zero came aboard.

“You needed a tactical mastermind, like yourself, to lead this mission incase something went wrong.” Jed said, the only reply he got was a nod.

“alright, we’ve been training to take on the Imperial Navy, and were going to do just that. All Hands, MAN YOUR BATTLE STATIONS, Secure all compartments. Arven form up your squadron to the left and to the right, Lance get those V-wings formed up behind us, You’ll hide in our engine exhaust. Pilot, accelerate to attack speed and take us strait at them.” Zero said, he was standing in the middle of the bridge, he looked like he knew exactly what he was doing, his confidence and determination caused the crew to feel like they could do anything, they trusted him with their lives.

“Are you sure it’s wise to attack them in the middle,” Jed whispered.

“They will think we’re making a mistake, but they do not know that our broadside turrets have been replaced by turrets twice the original size. They will attack us from two sides thinking they can defeat us, their plan will literally blow up in their face,” Zero replied. “Fire the forward turrets,” he then said.

The Imperial ships did exactly what he wanted them to do, they evaded the fire from the forward turrets and attacked them from two sides. The 170’s lured the fighters away while the V-wings hid in the engine exhaust of the Justice, when the moment was right Lance ordered his V-wings to come out of hiding and attack the imperial fighters from behind. When the tactical officer reported that the Imperial assault gun boats where in the right position Zero said “Lets show these bastards who their dealing with, Broadside turrets FIRE AT WILL!!!” When the broad side turrets opened fire the space around the Justice was literally on fire. During the refit, the broadside turrets, 5 on each side of the ship, had been replaced by four turrets that were more twice the normal size, this gave them a total of eight broadside turrets. Although they were still no match for a star destroyer, these gun boats were easy targets.

“HA, their shields are no match for our firepower,” Jed commented. In just ten seconds one of the gun boats had been shot to pieces and left burning while the other was badly damaged and struggling to get out of the Justice’s range.

“Arven, how are those fighters doing?” Zero asked.

“They’re doing fine, but you mean the enemy fighters, right? They’re doing not so fine anymore, they’re moving away from us in an attempt to regroup” Arven responded.

“Good, keep them busy,” Zero said.
“Sir,” the communications officer said “Janna needs to talk to you.”

“Alright, put her on,” Zero said. Janna reported that they had captured most of the corvette, they had secured the ships generators and deactivated them before the ion mine lost it’s effect. but the bridge was heavily guarded, she had cut her way through numerous troopers and with help from the commandos she had reached the bridge and saw that the blast doors had been closed, it was going to take a bit longer to capture the ship than they had anticipated. She also noted that it was possible that the fighters they were fighting now weren’t the fighter escort from Naboo, this was a disturbing fact that Zero had thought of but never checked. He ordered the tactical officer to perform a long range scan, this scan revealed more fighters that would arrive in little under 10 minutes. “this does not look good,” Zero said “Janna, will you be able to capture the bridge and get those generators back online within the next four or five minutes,” he continued.

“I’ll need about 5 or 6 minutes to get those generators back online, but I’ll need at least 10 to 15 minutes to get into the bridge, than it will still take me about a minute or 2 to secure it and I can’t start up the generators before I secure the bridge, if I start them up now the bridge crew will be able to get the weapons systems back online.” Janna responded

“Perhaps we could work our way around those blast doors, make the crew open them from the inside. Get those generators powered up, we’ll take care of the blast doors,” Zero said.

Janna had no idea what he was talking about but she trusted him, she told the engineers that were part of the boarding party to prepare to start up the generators and waited.

“Pilot, turn around, get us back to the corvette. Tactical officer, prepare the forward turrets to fire. I want you to aim about 6 meters in front of their bridge window. Com officer I want to talk to them,” Zero said.

The Justice’s crew went to work, just a few seconds later the tactical officer reported he had the forward turrets ready to fire and the communications officer said, “General, I’ve coordinated boarding party. They’ve hacked the corvette’s com system and I’ll be able to activate the bridge speakers from here.”

“Good job, now lets see how brave they are,” Zero said and picked up the communicator.

“Imperial vessel, this the assault ship Justice. Surrender immediately, or you will be destroyed….”

There was no response. “Forward turrets…. FIRE,” Zero said. The shots from the forward turrets missed the bridge by about 6 meters, just as Zero had planned. Again he picked up the communicator. “Imperial vessel, you have no chance, but you have been warned. Surrender NOW, of we will destroy you….” Again the message was answered with silence.

“Alright, that’s it, Imperial vessel we will blow your bridge into tiny pieces if you do not surrender right now, THIS is you last warning…” Zero shouted in to the communicator and almost immediately after he had stopped talking the imperials responded, “Please don’t fire, we surrender, we surrender.”

Within minutes Janna reported she had secured the bridge and got the generators online, they were now ready to leave. They just had one problem left, one of the Imperial assault gunboats wasn’t destroyed during the battle and was now preventing the tanker, that was captured by Master Sergeant Hawthorn, from jumping to lightspeed. Janna decided to put their newly acquired corvette to the test and moved in to attack the gunboat. After a few well placed shots the gunboats rear section exploded, leaving the front section on fire and spinning out of control. Seconds later all ships including the ones they captured were on their way to the asteroid field.

“Good job people, and congratulations. When we get home I want all of you to take some rest and report back for debriefing at noon tomorrow. Team leaders, I’ll be expecting your reports on my desk at fifteen hundred today and we’ll prepare for debriefing at sixteen hundred, also today.” Zero said before they arrived at their star destroyer, which they now called, Base one.

Later that day, the team leader informed him of everything that happened during the attack. Lance’s V-wing squad hadn’t lost a single pilot, while Arven Wendik’s 170’s only lost one rear gunner. “although we lost just one man, some of the fighters did get damaged, I have a hole in my wing the size of my helmet” Arven said.

“I’ll get the engineers on it right away,” Janna responded.

The boarding parties also had some casualties, Master Sergeant Hawthorn’s team ran into some trouble onboard the Tanker and one of his men got hit, but the medic said he’d be fine in a few days. Janna’s team on the other had did have a two seriously wounded commando’s.

“A grenade went of right in front of them, they literally flew through the corridor. I just spoke to the surgeon, and he says they‘ll both survive. But one of them will probably never walk again, the other one will be rejoining his team in about seven weeks,” Janna said.

“We were lucky,” Arven said. “When those Imperial ships arrived, it could easily have gone wrong,” he added.

“We were very lucky indeed,” Jed said. “You were lucky to find a flight instructor, you were lucky I found my way here, and we were lucky we didn’t get ourselves killed today” He added.

Zero looked at them and said.
“Gentlemen, there is no such thing as luck......”

Characters

Janna

Janna was a Jedi Padawan during the Clone Wars and was in the Jedi Temple when Darth Vader and the 501st legion attacked. Her Master told her to protect a group of younglings while he scouted ahead in an attempt to find a way out of the temple. Her Master was killed by an Imperial Agent seconds after he had found, what he thought to be, a safe way out of the temple. Two Clone troopers where about to find Janna and the Younglings, when they were saved by Jedimca0. Zero then took them with him when he left the planet. First, Janna made sure the Younglings were safe, then she met up with Zero on Naboo. when she arrived she met Ralack and mistook him for an intruder, fortunately Zero stopped her before she strangled him. She helped Zero and Ralack modify the Lightning II, she was a very skilled engineer and expert slicer. Zero decided to complete her training and teach her everything Masters Yoda and Windu had thought him. During her time on Naboo she fell in love with Zero, and he fell in love with her.

She was granted the rank of Jedi Knight by Master Yoda when she and Zero visited him on Dagobah. She decided to help Zero train a new apprentice, Lance.

When Zero found an abandoned and crippled Venator-class Star Destroyer in an asteroid field on the edge of the Chommell sector they moved their base of operations there and started to repair the ship, the ships engines where damaged beyond repair. When they received a message from Naboo saying the Empire was attacking the planet they went to assist them. Unfortunately they were too late to save the queen, but they were able to save several soldiers and security officers including Ralack. When Zero established a resistance moving she became his Second in command. she felt that it was her job executive officer to know everything that happened on their Star Destroyer and there was little that she did not know about.

Ralack

Ralack was a lieutenant in the Royal Naboo Security Forces, he was tasked with the security of foreign diplomats on Naboo. He was assigned to the security Team of Senator Bail Organa when the senator visited Naboo. during these visits the Senator and the Young lieutenant became close friends. When Senator Organa met Jedimca0, he received a list of supplies the Jedi needed. The senator then requested Ralack to Acquire and deliver the supplies to zero's secret hideout in the Lake country. After the delivery Ralack and Zero became friends during the weeks they spent modifying the Naboo cruiser, Lightning II. When Janna arrived she mistook Ralack for a intruder and almost strangled him to death.

When the 501st attacked Naboo in order to kill Queen Apailana, Ralack was given command of a group of 30 Royal Security Guards and ordered to defend the Capital. When Zero, Janna and Lance arrived they tried to save the Queen but they were too late. The 501st legion killed her in front of them. Ralack had no choice, he had to leave the planet. He accompanied Zero to an isolated asteroid field on the edge of the Chommell sector, in the middle of the asteroid field they found a damaged Venator class star destroyer. After fixing the destroyer Zero established a resistance movement, Ralack was promoted to Major and chosen to lead the resistance's military.

Ralack was a high raking officer in Zero's resistance, he was responsible for the training of new recruits. He also arranged transport to and from the asteroid field for refugees, people that were wanted by the empire and for those who wanted to join the resistance and needed to be brought to their base to begin Training. He also regularly visited Captain Gregar Typho on Naboo to acquire information about he local Imperial garrison.
During his time as Zero third man he would also occasionally be called upon to assume command of the resistance, usually if both Zero and Janna left the organization’s headquarters in the asteroid field, but also during the resistance's attacks on the imperial supply convoys.

Lance

Lance was a Jedi Youngling during the clone wars. He was present at the Jedi temple when Darth Vader and the 501st Legion attacked. Although he was 15 years old and thus to old to begin training he was recalled to the Jedi temple after having served in the Jedi Service Corps for two years to start his training. Master Yoda felt that they needed all the knights they could get inorder to win the war and had decided to recall several "promissing" members of the service corps. Lance had just arrived at the Temple and was about to report to Master Mace Windu when the troops attacked. He quicly picked up a lightsaber from a fallen Jedi and defended himself, he managed to stay allive and met Janna, her Master and a group of Younglings. When Janna's Master got killed they were tasked with defending the group of Younlings, when they were about to be found by a pair of Clone Troopers Zero interviened, killed the clones and took them with him when he left the planet.

Lance was then brought to a safe location by Janna before she went to Naboo. He later joined them on Naboo, after Master Yoda had promoted Zero to Jedi Master en Janna to Jedi Knight. They would train him together and when the Resistance was formed he would often lead small groups of commando's into battle.

R4-PX3

R4-PX3 is Zero's Astro droid, He personally modified the little droid during the Clone wars.

the droid is equipped with several advanced sensors giving it the ability to scan an area of 30 to 60 kilometres, the built in communication Equipment allows the droid to connect with the computers on board the Lightning II from a great distance and access all of the ships systems, including the Sensors, providing an even larger range. This ability also allows the droid to fly the ship from a distance.
