The Faction War was an event in which the First Order and the Resistance battled for twenty years. Later on, the war would resume until 89 ABY, this time with the Galactic Union opposing the First Order. Although the two forces had clashed multiple times before, it is generally agreed that the war began after the destruction of Hosnian Prime.
Prelude[]
After the First Order decimated the New Republic with Starkiller Base, the Resistance retaliated and destroyed their superweapon. Not long after, the First Order managed to reduce the Resistance to barely two dozen survivors. They fled deep into the Unknown Regions, to the planet Vexel, to rebuild their resources.
