- “Tatius Karna is an excellent consigliere.”
- —Don Whir Mangani praising Tatius Karna[src]
Tatius Karna (born 4,012 BBY) was an Amrellian Human male lawyer, first consigliere, or adviser, of the Trapani Crime Family in the Human Mafia, and later politician, serving as the Senator of Anon. After completing basic school on Anon, Karna went on to earn a law degree at the University of Coruscant and worked as a private defense attorney for a local company. After moving back to Anon, he became a lawyer for many known criminals, and he began to associate himself with the Human Mafia. In 3,990 BBY, Karna met and began to work with Jirebon Trapani, who would soon go on to found and lead the Trapani Crime Family. Karna was made consigliere, or adviser, of the crime family and was dubbed a made man.
Together, Jirebon and Karna, along with caporegimes Hyram Darden and Myron Seter, fought and defeated the Georg Crime Family before taking control over all of the Anon system. Two years later, Karna helped the Trapani Family form an alliance with the Mangani Family and start a war with the Felip Family. The following year, Karna, with the help of Don Trapani, was elected Senator of Anon. He served two terms for a total of four years. Karna was considered by mobsters and historians alike to be one of the greatest consiglieres in galactic history. With his wife Sonni, he had two children: Nicke and Sofia.

Biography
Edit
Early life
Edit
- “Sure I have values, but I also have a need to eat.”
- —Tatius Karna[src]
Tatius Karna was born on the world of Anon in 4,012 BBY. Little was known about his childhood and adolescent years, however it was known he excelled in school and was considered by his parents and friends to be somewhat of a prodigy. He completed basic school, earned a law degree at the University of Coruscant, and became a private defense attorney for a local factory manufacturer.
After quitting and moving back to Anon, he married a woman named Sonni, with whom he had two children; a son, Nicke, and a daughter, Sofia.[1] Some time later, after encountering some financial troubles from the fallout of the Mid-Rim Depression, Karna began working for known criminals as a private defense attorney. During this time, he earned a reputation for being a man who could "get any criminal off the hook."[1]
Early criminal affairs
Edit
- “There are other ways to win a war than just by fighting.”
- —Tatius Karna[src]
In 3,990 BBY, Karna was contacted by Jirebon Trapani, who wanted to create his own crime family in the Human Mafia. After receiving permission from the Human Mafia's Commission, Trapani founded the Trapani Crime Family and offered Karna the position of consigliere, one who advised the family in business and legal affairs. Karna accepted, and served the Trapani Family loyally. Karna was forced to quickly prove himself valuable in times of war, as, later that year, the Trapani Family battled against the Georg Crime Family for control over Anon. During this time, Karna planned many assassinations and missions, most of which were successful. He also organized the Trapani's rackets and operations. Eventually, the Georgs were defeated and eliminated, and the Trapanis assumed complete control over the world and expanded their territory worldwide.[1]
Two years later, Karna organized the Trapanis' expansion to Romin and the formation of an alliance with the Mangani Family, which was led by Don Whir Mangani. The two crime families waged a war against the other families and gangs on Romin, seeking complete control over the world so that they could further expand. Despite heavy losses, the Trapani-Mangani alliance gained the upper-hand against its enemies. However, another problem soon presented itself: the Galactic Senate was preparing to pass a bill that would create an agency designed to eliminate the Human Mafia and organized crime altogether. Karna, Don Jirebon Trapani, and the Trapani Family's two caporegimes, Hyram Darden and Myron Seter, used the corrupt Senator Hentik Molti to legally oppose the bill. However, two months after secretly recruiting him, Molti was gunned down by the Don Indra Felip, the head of the Felip Crime Family. Don Felip also bribed several high-ranking Romin Planetary Police (RPP) officials and had Don Trapani subsequently arrested.[1]
Soon after, Karna displayed his legal prowess by exploiting a loophole in Romin's laws and forcing the RPP to release Jirebon Trapani after twenty-four hours. Karna attended a meeting with the other made men of the Trapani Family. After the meeting, Karna returned to his home on Anon to visit his family and take a break from work.[3]
Senator of Anon
Edit
In 3,987 BBY, with the illegal help of Don Jirebon Trapani through bribery, blackmail, and extortion, Karna was elected Senator of Anon in the Galactic Republic Senate, succeeding the late Senator Hentik Molti. He served two terms for a total of eight standard years. He chose not to run for a third term because he wanted to spend more time with his family. The press praised Karna during his time as senator, claiming he was truly devoted to helping Anon recover from the Mid-Rim Depression.
Personality and traits
Edit
- “Family is all that matters in the end.”
- —Tatius Karna[src]
Karna was known by his friends as devoted family man, though his wife sometimes considered him a workaholic. Karna, like his boss and mentor, Jirebon, disliked hotheads, and Karna considered himself to be very open-minded, civil, and reasonable. He also thought of himself as "the only honest politician" in the galaxy. In politics, Karna was an outspoken conservative, and was publicly against homosexuality, women's rights, abortion, and expanding law enforcement agencies' power.
Despite the public view of Karna as a "charitable, honest legal man and politician," Karna was the adviser for one of the most notorious crime families in the Human Mafia. Jirebon admired in Karna what he called ruthlessness, focus, and tactical skills. Trapani Family caporegime Hyram Darden often went to Karna when he needed somebody to talk to as he considered Karna to be "a great listener, and a good friend."
Talents and abilities
Edit
- “I know you can do it, Tatius. You can do anything.”
- —Don Jirebon Trapani[src]
Karna was exceptionally knowledgeable in Republic law, having earned a six-year law degree from the University of Coruscant. He was often called upon by Don Jirebon Trapani to settle legal issues regarding their criminal empire, and also served as Trapani's personal lawyer.
Perhaps most notable was Karna's ability in strategical tactics. One of the main reasons Jirebon recruited Karna as his consigliere was because of Karna's discipline, organization, and willingness to kill those in his way. Like his mentor and boss, Jirebon, Karna possessed the foresight of a master chess player and was able to predict the ramifications and possible opportunities from seemingly random events years in advance. To an extent, Karna also had training in unarmed combat, having taken lessons in personal defense at Jirebon's urging. He also took a personal weapons course, where he learned basic marksmanship skills, and earned a concealed weapons permit.
Behind the scenes
Edit
Tatius Karna was created by Dalton Wylind, the author of the Force Legend Series, in which Karna makes his appearances. Karna was inspired by Tom Hagen, the fictional consigliere of the Corleone family in Mario Puzo's novel The Godfather and its acclaimed film adaption. Karna was portrayed by an unidentified mobster from the 2010 video game Mafia II, which was developed by 2K Czech and published by 2k Games.
