Star Wars Fanon:Video policy
The Star Wars wiki of fan invention.
The Star Wars Fanon video policy is a policy on the Star Wars Fanon Wiki that states how videos may be used on this website. This wiki is to create and write fanon stories, not to share videos. Therefore, this policy has been established.

[edit] Use of videos
[edit] User pages
Like all other wikis, users have user pages where they can share information about themselves. However, some users have posted numerous videos on their user pages in the past. Because user pages are not meant to be video showcase, and the fact that numerous videos can slow down the computers of other users, users are only allowed to have one video from YouTube or another website actually posted on their user page. Should a user wish to have multiple videos, they may post links to them, but only links.
[edit] Sub-pages
As with user pages, users are only allowed to have one video on each sub-page. However, this is only per sub-page. If a user has three sub-pages, this means that they can have three videos, but only one on each page.
[edit] Articles
Under no circumstances may a video be posted in an article in the mainspace/article namespace. Allowing them would be unprofessional and unencyclopedic. The potential for abuse would also be high.
[edit] Sourcing
As of February 2009, Wikia Inc. utilizes a feature on its wikis, including this wiki, that allows users to essentially upload videos to a wiki. Because of this, all videos added to this wiki must be properly sourced using the same guidelines of the image policy. This means that after a video is added, a user must go to the video’s page, click the “edit button” on top and then add in and fill out an {{information}} template. A mock-up of this is as follows:
| Video policy | Check TinEye |
|---|---|
| Information | |
| Attention! |
Any important notes regarding this image must be stated so here. |
| Description |
What is the video? |
| Source |
What was the ORIGINAL source of the image? Simply stating “YouTube”, “Goggle Videos” or the names of other video websites is not permissible. A direct link to the video on said website must be provided. |
| Author/Artist |
State the author of the video. |
| Licensing |
You must add a licensing template such as {{PD-self}}, {{fairuse}} or {{screenshot}} here. A list of all of the available licensing templates can be found here. |
| Other versions |
If any other versions of this image exist on Star Wars Fanon that you know of, link to them here. |
It is requested that users fill in all of the available sections. However, it is required that you provide at least the source, the author (as there is no way a user can claim the author to be unknown when using file sharing websites), and the licensing.
[edit] Consequences
[edit] Improper use of videos
Should a user violate the guidelines of the “Use of videos” section found above, it will result in a warning. After two warnings, users may be blocked from editing. These cases and the appropriate consequences will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
[edit] Failure to source
If a user fails to source their videos, it will result in a warning. If the problem continues, blocks will be issued. The full list of consequences is as follows:
- First offense: Warning
- Second offense: One day ban
- Third offense: Three day ban
- Fourth offense: One week ban
- Fifth offense: One month ban
- Further offenses: Infinite ban on uploading videos, and one week ban for disruption
