  1. As much as we find ourselves with some lulz in the nomination that can be found above, here’s a serious nomination for someone who deserves it. JM is an active community contributor. He is somewhat slow in his Seer duties, to be fair, but when specifically asked or told he does do it and he does it well. Despite that, he remains an active community helper. Remember those itsy bitsy 1,400 article and 4,000 image deletion thing we did a few weeks ago? Well without JM, we’d still be deleting those. Deleting them by hand is hard, but JM not only spent time setting up and configuring his bot, Weeg, for it, but he also spent his time having Weeg delete all of that. It took a few hours for Weeg to delete the articles in the mass article deletion. Multiply those few hours by three and you have the amount of time JM spent with Weeg deleting those images. He can’t simply walk away and go to sleep when the bot is deleting, because sometimes there are brief errors that require one to stop the process and then start again where the bot left off. Without JM, this mass deletion thing would’ve been a major pain in the behind. Aside from that, JM also is an active participant in community discussions and votes, and as a former administrator conducts himself in a manner becoming of someone who has had and continues to have a degree of responsibility on this wiki. He’s a very quiet and under-recognized presence in the community, and does not strive to be anything more than that. That’s why he all the more deserves to be September’s User of the Month. 3. Voting out of sheer opposition to Joe's comment below, which I think is utter bilge, and because JM is worthy and deserving of this award. Anyone who puts that much time and effort into deleting even some of the crap-stack polluting this wiki deserves recognition. Anyone who can come up with creative FA ideas like, a tree, deserves some kudos for ingenuity. Finally, the idea that one must be active in every or even many areas of this website in order to merit UotM is complete balderdash. Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Talk page) 22:01, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
    • You forgot to mention that I smell and that JM is an active Seer. - Joe (talk) 22:11, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
      • I think Hitler and Saddam care more about the Council of Seers than Ataru does. Tongue - Brandon Rhea Rebel symbol Blue (talk) 23:53, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Neutral[]

  1. The thing about Seer duties, though, is that a Seer shouldn't have to be told to do said duties. Yes, it's true, JM did a great job with Weeg, and saved other admins on this wiki a lot of trouble'; for that reason, I'm voting neutral. I don't see a ton of community involvement, though; or at least, not enough to warrant this award, IMO. - Joe (talk) 17:56, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
    • I forgot to mention that it would also be nice to see some fresh Users of the Month, as in, users who haven't had the award before. - Joe (talk) 17:57, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
      • [cough, cough] I haven't goten the award before. Tongue --”'Wylind”' (talk) 18:50, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Oppose[]

  1. After some thought, I've decided to oppose this for several reasons. First, like I said above, It'd be nice to see some new Users of the Month, though that's not really JM's fault. Second, I'm beginning to see a pattern of nominations based heavily upon one act of helpfulness to the wiki (i.e. MDS's tagging of images). Now, again, I'm very thankful that JM was willing to spend some of his time and effort on helping to delete the articles and images. However, I'd like to see users that are active in every area they could be, which JM is not. - Joe (talk) 18:22, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
