- There’s little I need to say in regards to Savage. He’s one of the wiki’s foremost users and is great at what he does; editing, maintenance, helping other users, social interactions—you name it. Whatever it may be, Savage is a great user. One of the key points there is helpfulness. Something I recently talked to Goodwood and Trak Nar about is that we need to refocus how we operate as administrators. Warnings and blocks are not effective on their own. We can’t just expect someone to know what they’re doing the first time they enter into the ridiculous concept that is writing fan fiction and fanon on a wiki. We also can’t expect them to all be great writers who live up to arbitrary standards of “quality.” That doesn’t mean throw any standards out the window, but it does mean something important—the approach of admins in talking to users needs to be something that fosters the creative writing process. If we expect people to improve, we need to be more engaged in helping them to do that. “Please read sentence 3 of paragraph 5 of the Manual of Style” doesn’t help people, but creating an atmosphere of critical feedback and positive reinforcement where we spend time helping users improve their article writing can and will. That’s a big time investment, and to make that investment we need even more admins. This investment is going to be one done in conjunction with actions taken to grow the wiki, specifically in terms of bringing in a fan fiction crowd as overviewed here. Because of that, this nomination is placed not just for the sake of the wiki we currently have, but for the wiki we will soon have. - Brandon's heartwarming idealism aside, Sav is a perfect candidate for admin; I've had the chance to watch him grow from the moment he joined this site to now, and I can say that he is the most welcoming and helpful individual that I have seen in a while. My vote probably is the least important here, as I've probably missed most of what he has done to earn this nomination in my long absence, but knowing him as I do, I am glad to finally see his good deeds recognized. - Since I promised support for when he would have inevitably been nominated. Responsible young user, I look at guys like TK and Savage as the future of Star Wars Fanon. He has quality character, he's helpful and courteous so he has what it takes to be a great admin. Brandon is right, we need people that can do more than just recite tired old lines about following policy and blocking people. New users need a personal touch and the ability to interact with experienced members of SWF, Savage is not only personable but open to interaction too. - I haven't been on in a while, but Brandon was trolling for votes either way. Anyhoo, back when I knew Savage, he seemed like a pretty okay guy, but he had a few things to learn.
