"A crusade has begun. Nothing shall stand in their way!"
—The motto of the Decreton Lords.[src]

The Decreton Lords are members of a group of users that read over, check and review Featured Article nominees before voting as to whether or not Featured Article status should be granted to an article. The Decreton Lords review and give constructive criticism for articles until they are fixed up to meet Featured Article standards. Once all criticisms are rectified, the Decreton Lords vote on whether or not the article should be featured. In order to become a Featured Article, four out of the six current Decreton Lords must approve.

Featured Articles are checked over periodically to ensure that they still warrant the honor that it was given. If the article does not warrant keeping its Featured Article status, a majority vote of the Decreton Lords can strip it of the status and make it a Formerly Featured Article. The article can regain its status only after the complaints of the Decreton Lords have been fixed. Currently, there are forty-one Formerly Featured Articles compared to sixty-seven Featured Articles.

The Decreton Lords were formed in Spring 2007 by a group of users that included C3PO the Dragon Slayer, Jack Phoenix, Jasca Ducato, NKSCF and Squishy Vic. The name was chosen based on the Sith Order of Decreto written by Jasca Ducato where an elite group called the Decreton Lords would relentlessly and mercilessly strike down those seeking glory. With the name and specifics decided, it was the intention of the founding members to create a board that would help to oversee the Featured Article voting process. At that time, the general membership of Star Wars Fanon still voted for Featured Articles, so the Decreton Lords were merely an addition to that. As it was set up, an article could not become featured if the majority of the Decreton Lords disagreed, even if the membership had voted upon it.

Eventually, it was decided that only Decreton Lords would vote on Featured Article candidates as it was agreed and supported by the membership that they were in the best position to know whether or not an article was worthy of Featured Article status. It was also a means to take away friends voting for friends or any other backdoor dealings it took to make some articles featured while members could vote. The system was approved in Summer 2007 and it continues successfully to this day.

[edit] Members of the board

The three Decreton Lords have all been chosen by a vote from the entire Star Wars Fanon community and can be removed through the same means. The three members of the board are as follows:

Former Decreton Lords include C3PO the Dragon Slayer, CurrentBigThing, Jack Phoenix, Jasca Ducato, Jedi Master 76, NKSCF and Squishy Vic.

[edit] Featured Article nominations

Only Decreton Lords can vote on the nominations page to decide whether or not an article is to become a Featured Article. Once an article becomes featured, its section from the nominations page will be archived onto the Decreton Lord name space. The archived reviews can be found below. If the majority of the Decreton Lords do not believe that an article is deserving of Featured Article status and the author does not appear to have any interest in rectifying the complaints, then the reviews will be archived for a later date. Those reviews can also be found below.

[edit] How to queue

  1. Cut and paste the text of the article's nomination to a new DL page. For example, if Your Mary Sue was a Featured Article, the DL page would be DL:Your Mary Sue.
  2. At the top of the DL page, denote it with ==FA nomination== above the pasted content. If it is a re-nomination, use ==FA nomination (second time)== or something similar. This is to keep later FA reviews separate from the actual nomination.
  3. Add {{eras|featured}} to the article. This will add the category to the page.
  4. Add the article to Star Wars Fanon:Featured articles in its appropriate alphabetical location. Update the count. If you are unsure if your count is correct, check the category. There should be 1 more FA in the category than on the FA page, because of the Random Featured Article page.
  5. Copy and paste the introduction and the infobox image to a new entry on the queue. The section header for the entry should be a new week, set seven days after the last entry. Left-justify the image and size it at 150px. Example: === September 14, 2008 === would succeed === September 7, 2008 ===.
  6. Copy and paste the intro and main image to Star Wars Fanon:Random featured article, making sure to place <option> and {{TITLE|PAGENAME}} at the beginning and {{rm|PAGENAME}} </option> at the end.
  7. Pat yourself on the back, rinse and repeat.

[edit] Featured Article reviews

The following pages are archived discussions of successful Featured Article nominations:

[edit] Rejected nominations

The following list is an archive of rejected Featured Article nominations. If for whatever reason the author(s) of a Featured Article nominee become(s) inactive or they ignore their nomination and the objections of the Decreton Lords remain uncorrected for a total of one month, the article will be removed from the nominations list and moved to the list of rejected nominations. Once the author returns or decides to once again work on their article, they may re-nominate the article if they intend to correct the objections.

[edit] Status removal

If you are the author of an article and have been redirected here from said article, then the article in question has had its Featured Article status revoked by a majority vote of the Decreton Lords. If you wish to appeal the removal, then please leave a note on the talk page of one of the Decreton Lords. Once any changes have been made to rectify the short comings pointed out by the Decreton Lords, please notify a Decreton Lord so that the entire board can look over the article again.
