Founding Edit

The Council of Seers was formed in September 2008 after a merger of the High Priests and Decreton Lords which reviewed good and featured articles, respectively.^[1] The name of the Council of Seers comes from the fan fiction of Andrew Barton, a founding member of the group. In his photonovel series The Drewton Legacy, there is an organization called the Jedi Council of Seers that believed that with the combined efforts of its members they would be able to perceive the future and stop the return of the Sith.^[2] This is reflective of the Star Wars Fanon group, as the goal of the Council of Seers is to ensure that only quality articles that meet standards are promoted to good and featured article status, and to make sure that formerly good and formerly featured articles that the High Priests and Decreton Lords believed lacked quality are not promoted once again.^[3]

With the name and specifics decided, it was the intention of the founding members to create a board that would help to oversee the good article voting process and entirely oversee the featured article voting process. At the time of the creation of the board, only Seers had the right to vote on featured article nominations, while both Seers and non-Seers could vote on good article nominations. This was the case with featured articles ever since the beginning of the Decreton Lords, and it was a means to take away friends from voting for friends or any other backdoor dealings it took to make subpar articles featured articles.^[1]

Present day Edit

Currently, there are seven (7) members of the Council of Seers. In order for an article to become a good article, it must receive at least four (4) Seer votes plus two (2) additional votes from anyone else, Seer or otherwise. A featured article nomination requires at least four (4) Seer votes plus three (3) additional votes from anyone else, Seer or otherwise. All voters must meet the requirements of the voting policy.

All members of the Council of Seers have been chosen by a vote from the entire Star Wars Fanon community and can be removed through the same means.^[1] The current Seers are as follows:

Should any user wish to nominate another user or themselves for a position on the Council of Seers, they may do so on the request for Seership page. Results from previous nominations and elections can be found in the election archive.

Nominations Edit

Good articles Edit

All Star Wars Fanon members are able to vote on good article nominations alongside the Council of Seers. Council of Seers votes will be noted with the {{CoS}} template () to distinguish them from the votes of non-Council members. Once an article becomes a good article, the entire nomination will be archived into a page in the Council name space. The archived reviews can be found below. If the majority of board members do not believe that an article is deserving of good article status, then despite the number of general members in favor of it the article will not become a good article, and vice-a-versa. If there is a long list of complaints that the author does not appear to be addressing, then regardless of the reasons the review in its entirety will be archived and will become a "rejected nomination". Those review archives can also be found below.

Featured articles Edit

All Star Wars Fanon members are able to vote on the nominations page to decide whether or not an article is to become a featured article. Once an article becomes featured, its section from the nominations page will be archived onto the Council name space. The archived reviews can be found below. If the majority of the Council members do not believe that an article is deserving of featured article status and the author does not appear to have any interest in rectifying the complaints, then the reviews will be archived for a later date. Those reviews can also be found below.

How to queue Edit

Good articles Edit

Cut and paste the support votes into the articles corresponding board name space page and place it above the objections that were noted. For example, if Your Mary Sue was a good article, the Council page would be CS:Your Mary Sue. Also mark the nomination as a good article nomination, as featured article nominations will be placed into the same page.
At the top of the board page, note that the nomination was successful.
Add {{eras|good}} to the article. This will add the category to the page.
Add the article to Star Wars Fanon:Good articles in its appropriate alphabetical location. Update the count. If you are unsure if your count is correct, check the category for the current count.
Copy and paste the introduction of the article and the infobox image to a new entry on the history page. The section header should be the date on which an article became a good article. For example, if the article became a good article on December 11, 2009, the section header would be === December 11, 2009 ===.
Place a link to the article on Star Wars Fanon:Good articles/Random in the appropriate order.
Pat yourself on the back, rinse, and repeat.

Featured articles Edit

Cut and paste the text of the article's nomination to the previously created board name space page.
At the top of the CS page, denote it with ==FA nomination== above the pasted content. If it is a re-nomination, use ==FA nomination (second time)== or something similar. This is to keep later featured article reviews and the previous good article review(s) separate from the featured article nomination.
Add {{eras|featured}} to the article. This will add the category to the page.
Add the article to Star Wars Fanon:Featured articles in its appropriate alphabetical location. Update the count. If you are unsure if your count is correct, check the category. There should be one (1) more FA in the category than on the FA page, because of the random featured article page.
Copy and paste the introduction and the infobox image to a new entry on the queue. The section header for the entry should be a new week, set seven days after the last entry. Left-justify the image and size it at 150px. Example: === September 14, 2008 === would succeed === September 7, 2008 ===.
Copy and paste the intro and main image to random featured article, making sure to place <option> and {{Title|PAGENAME}} at the beginning and {{Rm|PAGENAME}} </option> at the end.
Pat yourself on the back, rinse, and repeat.

Rejected/removed nominations Edit

The following lists are archives of rejected good article and featured article nominations. If for whatever reason the author(s) of a good article or featured article nomination become(s) inactive, or they ignore their nomination and the objections of the voting community and/or the Council members for a total of one month, the article will be removed from the nominations list and moved to the list of rejected nominations. Once the author(s) return(s) or decides to once again work on their article, they may re-nominate the article if they intend to correct the objections. A nomination may also be rejected by a vote from the Council of Seers, based on the quality of a nominee, and the nominator may also pull the nomination if they so choose.

Good articles Edit

Status removal Edit

If you are the author of an article and have been redirected here from said article, then the article in question has had its good article or featured article status revoked by a majority vote of the Council of Seers. If you wish to appeal the removal, then please leave a note on the talk page of one of the Council members. Once any changes have been made to rectify the short comings pointed out by the board members, please notify a Council member so that the entire Council can look over the article again.

IRC meetings Edit

The Council of Seers has a private Internet Relay Chat (IRC) channel, #swfanon-seers, for discussions on Seer-related matters. The Seers use this channel for pre-announced meetings, where they will discuss Seer affairs such as potentially stripping articles of their good or featured article status if said articles fall below their respective sets of requirements. This channel is private and can only be accessed by members of the Council of Seers.
