Author's summary Edit
Plot synopsis Edit
The novel starts with Galen Marek straped to a surgical table going through a spotty flashback just before the canon/non-canon choice takes place. Galen Marek is dueling Darth Vader aboard the Death Star and knocks Vader into a throne room where Darth Sidious is watching the interrogation of the founders of the Alliance. Galen Marek strikes down Vader and takes revenge for his deceased father, while Darth Sidious is blasting Rahm Kota with Sith lightning. Sidious then goades Galen to strike down Rahm Kota and give himself to the dark side once again. Galen instead attempts to strike down Sidious, only to have him repel the attack. The Rouge Shadow then flies into the throne room to evacuate the prisoners, only to have Sidious grab the ship with the Force and hurl it at Galen. Galen Marek then passes out.
Chapter 1 Edit
The novel catches up to real-time as Galen Marek is still strapped to the surgical table. Suddenly the restraints pop off and he runs for the door, only to be met by a force field surrounding the circular room. He then attempts to use the Force to destroy the force field when he realizes that he is covered in unremovable armor. Sidious then walks in the room. Galen Marek then attempts kill the Sith Lord but again runs into the problem of the force field. A one-sided conversation takes place just before the appearance of multiple viewing screens outside the force field. Sidious then leaves the room. The viewing screens then turn on, flashing multiple, apparently randomized, images. Fourteen days of this pass on with minimal food, water, and exercise. Galen Marek then passes out.
Chapter 2 Edit
Galen Marek awakes in another room without knowledge of where or why he is there. Upon seeing an open door he contemplates leaving, but decides against it. He notices a box that is filled with his lunch and eats it. Then Darth Sidious walks in the room. Galen Marek has no knowledge of his past and thus he does not remember him. Darth Sidious then tricks Galen into thinking that he was taken by the Rebel Alliance and that they had welded the armor on him. Sidious then offers him revenge on the Alliance in exchange for apprenticeship under him. Marek accepts. Sometime later he re-learns Sidious' name and Galen is re-named 'Lord Starkiller'.
Chapter 3 Edit
The novel summarizes a few years of training under Sidious, although any other aspect of his life during that time period is not mentioned. The novel then jumps to 0 BBY when Sidious orders Lord Starkiller to retrieve stolen schematics of the Death Star; which they are in now; although not yet mentioned, along with the 501st.

Behind the scenes Edit
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed: The Ultimate Apprentice is a Star Wars fanon novel created by Marek "Mighty" Joesph. It was inspired by the non-canon dark side ending of the original Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition video games. This novel originally inspired a series of novels in which alternative endings would replace actual canon. The series was then cancelled due to the inability to find another alternative ending, or even a name for the series.
- This novel was originally made out of the author's disappointment that there was only one ending in the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed novel and wanted to expand it.
- Interestingly, the author of the book owns a copy of the Ultimate Sith Edtion for PC, but has never actually played the game due to unexpected CPU requirements.
- Much of the dialouge used by stormtroopers during combat is inspired, and in some cases taken straight from, dialouge used in the acclaimed video game series, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
