Plot[]

Things are not looking good for the Galactica Republica in the Clone Wars. The Confederacy of Independent Systems has spread throughout the Galaxy. The latest organization to join is the InterGalactic Banking Clan, based on Muunilinst.

Jedi Master Yoda (Andy Serkis), Obi-Wan Kenobi (James McAvoy) and Supreme Chancellor Palpatine (Brad Dourif) meet in Palpatine's office to discuss the current state of affairs. They learn that InterGalactis Banking Clan has established droid factories on Muunilinst. Obi-Wan volunteers to go there to stop them. Palpatine agrees, but suggests that Obi-Wan's apprentice, Anakin Skywalker (Dane Dehaan), should be given command of Obi-Wan's starfighter groups in light of his piltoing skills. Obi-Wan is hesitant, but agrees to it.

After Anakin bids his secret wife Padme Naberrie (Anne Hathaway) farewell, he and Obi-Wan leave with a squad of clone troopers for Muunilinst.

A squad of clones led by Commander Cody (Jason Isaacs) is shot down by a battle droid and they crash into Hardnaidan, the capital city. After avoiding a group of vicious droid snipers, the clones pinpoint the location of a huge Seperatist artillery piece, at the top of a large tower. The clones scale the tower and destroy the weapon.

Count Dooku (Ben Kingsley) arrives on Rattatak, a war torn planet, in order to view a gladiatorial battle, hoping to find someone to succeed Jango Fett. A guide meets Dooku and takes him to the Cauldron, the planet's most infamous arena. While Dooku watches the battle, the guide is silently assassinated by a hooded figure, who Dooku acknowledges. The figure jumps from the viewing box into the Cauldron.

The figure begins to battle the other gladiators, when their cloak is torn off, revealing a female Dark Jedi (Karen Gillan). She makes short work of the other gladiators, slaughtering all of them, and then bows before Dooku. Dooku comments on her impressive skill, but the mysterious warrior identifies herself as a Sith. Dooku mocks her, stating that she had potential, but she is not a Sith. Angered, she charges at him with her twin lightsabers, but Dooku turns and blasts her with force lightning, knocking her out.

The Dark Jedi later awakens in her own lavish penthouse, and finds her lightsabers waiting for her. Dooku suddenly leaps out and attacks her. A duel ensues, culminating in her defeat. She tells Dooku to finish her, but he instead offers her his hand and reveals that his master, Darth Sidious, has been watching from the shadows. Sidious claims that Dooku was right; she does have potential. He then gives her a mission; if she can kill Anakin Skywalker, she will ascend to the Sith. Dooku gives her two Sith lightsabers who belonged to Komari Vosa to replace her old ones, and she reveals her name is Asajj Ventress. As Ventress departs, Dooku remarks that he is confident she will succeed. Sidious informs him that the point of the mission is not to test Ventress, but Anakin.

Panic begins to spread through the headquarters of the Banking Clan. Caar Damask angrily confronts Durge (Lawrence Makaore), the emotionless Seperatist commander, as to why Count Dooku bothered to appoint him to Muunilinst. Durge responds by grabbing Damask and crushing his windpipe in his hand.

Durge leads an army of lancer droids to the outskirts of the city to confront the pressing clone armies. The clones are caught off-guard and much carnage ensues. Obi-Wan orders his men to mout up and the two forces charge into each other, resulting in many fatalities on both sides. Durge knocks Obi-Wan's helmet off and disarms him, but Obi-Wan does not relent, attacking Durge with a lightsaber. Obi-Wan is left puzzled when he stabs Durge, but it seems to take no effect. Their vicious fight continues until Obi-Wan slices through his arm and then cuts him in half. Obi-Wan then receives a report from Cody, informing him that they are in position. As Obi-Wan races towards the city center on his speeder, Durge's remains begin to rejoin and heal themselves.

Inside of the Banking Clan's base, they view holographic recordings of their battle. Suddenly, the roof explodes and the clones enter. San Hill (John Hurt), the Chairman, tries to escape, but is cornered by Obi-Wan. Just as he is about to surrender, Durge crashes through the window on a jetpack. The clones open fire, damaging the jetpack and Durge seemingly perishes in the following explosion, leaving a large hole in the floor. Suddenly, Durge leaps back out, revealing his true form; a Gen'Dai, a species without bones, made up entirely of muscle tendons and nerve bundles. Durge charges at Obi-Wan, who once again cuts his arm off, before using his body to absorb Obi-Wan into him. Cody fires a wire into Durge and tries to electrocute him, but to no effect. Durge knocks Cody to the ground and towers over him. Suddenly, Durge begins to speedily expand and he explodes. Obi-Wan emerges and reveals that he used the Force to push outwards and kill Durge. In the chaos, however, San Hill has escaped.

Above the planet, a space battle is raging, with the Republic forces being led by Anakin. A large fleet of Geonosian starfighters enter the battle, so Anakin orders Red Squadron to fire over the bow of a Republic ship. The clone pilots are baffled, but obey. Anakin flies straight for them, and the Geonosians give chase. Just as they chase him over the bow, the missiles arrive and destroy them. The remaining missiles, however, lock on to Anakin. Anakin manages to fly through the docking bay of an enemy ship, destroying it. Suddenly, a mysterious ship jumps into the system from hyperspace and wipes out Blue Squadron. Anakin warns the other soldiers that he'll take the new target down, and sets off after it.

Anakin winds up chasing the ship through the streets of Muunilinst, passing Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan recognizes his padawan's ship and contacts Anakin, berating him. The enemy ship flies back into space and jumps into hyperspace. Obi-Wan warns Anakin not to follow, but Anakin tells him that he senses the Force being strong with the pilot. Anakin then also jumps into hyperspace. Obi-Wan, furious, sends a squad of clones after him.

Anakin arrives on Yavin Four, and looks up to watch the clones arriving. As they fan to search the surrounding jungle, they are systematically picked off by someone using the Force. Anakin returns to his ship, which suddenly explodes. Asajj Ventress emerges from the flames and goads Anakin into attacking her.

The two bitter rivals then duel throughout the tree tops of the jungle, until Ventress makes her way to a Massassi Temple. A thunderstorm begins as Ventress hurls stones at Anakin, who still does not relent. Anakin leaps onto the steps and chases her to the top of the temple. Ventress knocks Anakin's lightsaber away, but he grabs her arm and takes one of her own. The duel continues, leaving Ventress cornered at the edge of a chasm. Anakin continues to strike her lightsaber until the ground beneath her breaks away and she plummets to her death. Anakin lets out a final scream of rage and throws the Sith lightsaber in his hand into the abyss.

Back on Muunilinst, Cody informs Obi-Wan of an approaching spacecraft, which is similar to the one Anakin pursued. Obi-Wan orders Cody to hold his fire, and the ship lands to reveal Anakin as the pilot. Before the two have a chance to argue, Obi-Wan receives a message from Daakamn Barrek on Hypori. Barrek warns them of a new droid general, but is suddenly cut off before he can finish. On Hypori, Barrek falls to the ground dead, the shadow of a droid general falling over his body.

An army of battle droids march towards the wreck of a crashed Republic ship. Hiding in the wreck are a group of Jedi, having been led in a battle by the fallen Barrek. Now, the de facto leader is Ki-Adi Mundi (Ron Perlman), and he is surrounded by Shaak Ti (Alice Braga), Rianna Saren (Charlize Theron), K'Kruhk, Tarr Seir (Oded Fehr) and Barrek's apprentice, Sha'a Gi (Matthew Lillard). Gi emotions, in turmoil over the death of his master, begin to get the better of him and he suffers a panic attack. Suddenly, the droids stop marching, and Mundi wonders why the attack has ceased. The droid general announces his presence; identifying himself as General Grievous (Keith David), he offers to grant the Jedi a warrior's death, or they can surrender to him. Gi finally snaps and rushes outside, when suddenly Grievous lands on top of him. Mundi charges out after him but stops dead in his tracks when Grievous appears. Gi begs for his life, but Grievous calls him weak and breaks his neck with ease.

Mundi retreats back into the shelter as the terrified Jedi gather. Grievous suddenly attacks from above, wielding the lightsabers of other Jedi he has killed. It isn't long before a dust cloud forms, blidning K'Kruhk and allowing Grievous to fatally slash him. Seir tries to sneak up on Grievous, but Grievous crushes his head under his foot and throws his body aside, along with Saren.

Mundi and Shaak Ti continue to duel Grievous, but are outmatched. Shaak Ti is thrown into a nearby wall and buried under debris. Mundi, almost overcome by his emotions, charges at Grievous.

Commander Fordo (Jason Isaacs) leads a squad of clones sent by Obi-Wan to rescue the cornered Jedi. Their gunship deloys a cluster of thermal detonators, which roll along the ground, unnoticed by the droid army. Fordo locates two life signs from within the crash site. They exit their transport and gain access to the wreck via a tunnel. Just they arrive, they witness Mundi charging Grievous. Grievous gains the upper hand once more, but notices the clones and is distracted, sparing Mundi. The Jedi Master is able to roll safely away while the clones open fire.

Grievous jumps into the center of a circle of clones and begins to slaughter them. Suddenly, the gunship reappears and unleashes a wave of gunfire on the general, who retreats. Mundi is taken to another ship, where he learns that Shaak Ti is alive and under the care of a medical crew. As the gunship departs, the droids spot them and open fire, but they then choose to detonate the detonators, blowing the armies away.

In the aftermath, Grievous emerges from the flames and watches the gunship depart. He picks up K'Kruhk's lightsaber, which is lying next to his lifeless body, and declares that the Jedi are only delaying the inevitable.

In the final scene, Anakin is summoned to the Jedi Council chambers. Anakin enters to find the room pitch black. Suddenly, the Jedi Council ignite their lightsabers and reveal themselves. Yoda approaches Anakin and knights him, making him an official Jedi Knight.
