- "How could you ever hope to know the threat you face, when you have never walked in the dark places of the galaxy—faced war and death on such a scale? If you had traveled far enough, rather than waiting for the echo to reach you, perhaps you would have seen it for what it was."
- —Darth Traya
Star Wars: Chronicles of the Great War is a series of short stories and short novellas written by author Brandon Rhea that chronicle the events leading up to and during Rhea’s vision of the Great Territorial War, ending just before the beginning of the novel Shadows of the Jedi: The Legend of Ussej Padric Bac. The series is based upon the story of the “Great War” that was role-played on TheStarWarsRP.Com throughout 2005, and although it is not a direct chronicling of the events it is heavily based upon them. Current plans do call for many members of TheStarWarsRP.Com helping in the creation of each individual story, particularly if their old role-play character is involved in one of the events.
Beginning just after the events of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords, Chronicles of the Great War begins by showing the rise of the Third Sith Empire and the reorganization of the Jedi Order after the disastrous Mandalorian War and Jedi Civil War. As the series progresses and the Great Territorial War begins, the stories will focus on the forces of the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order fighting against the Third Sith Empire. Other factions involved will be the Mandalorian Clans and the House of EbonClaw of the Chiss Ascendancy.
While the series will focus on numerous characters and their personal growth throughout the war, the series puts a major focus on Ussej Padric Bac, Kit Corwin Rendar, Damien Nightblade, Remer Ather and Dexon Kyjar, as they are all vitally important to the impending destiny of many of the main characters of the series. A great focus is also put on Josham Kavar, Adena Qel-Droma and Stavan Jetzt throughout the series. Many users from TheStarWarsRP.Com will be able to contribute when it comes to the development of their character.
One of the major aspects of the series will be the mythology of an ancient group of relics that supposedly pointed the way to a trove of knowledge "that could put the Jedi Archives to shame". The quest for these relics will be one of the recurring stories throughout the series, beginning even in the first short novella, Aftermath. Some of the storyline of the quest is inspired by the fourth season of Smallville, mainly with the basic idea of a group of relics coming together to point the way to a large store of knowledge, though the vast majority of it is original content. While it is known that the relics in Smallville ended up forming the Fortress of Solitude, it has yet to be revealed what the relics in Chronicles of the Great War are capable of doing.

[edit] Preface
There is a legend nearly sixty centuries old that tells of the golden age of a Republic and an Order of guardians sworn to protect it. It is a legend of love and passion, of profound brotherhood and deadly betrayal, of war and peace, of courage and sacrifice and the dreams of fathers. It is the story of the blurred lines between the ambitious and the greedy.
This is the story of men destined to become legends. For men so concerned with making an entire galaxy realize how open they are to them, they are led by one who shall forever see through the eyes of the one he so foolishly exiled. And this begs a very important question for each and every one of them.
How could they hope to know the threats that they face when they have never walked in the darkest corners of their galaxy? How could they hope to understand what is to come when they have never faced war and death on such a grand scale? But they know that if they travel far enough and gain enough knowledge from their quest, rather than wait for the echo of the truth to reach them, then perhaps they can understand the universe for what it is.
The legends of the past will continue the tales of the Knights of the Old Republic in a war that the galaxy will long regret forgetting, as the lessons of today will deeply impact the choices of tomorrow. These are the journeys that tell of the creation of prophets and devils. These are the epics of shamans and dark lords.
These are the Chronicles of the Great War, and if the truth is worth fighting for then it has known no greater battle than this.
