Star Wars: Episode I - The Chosen One is a novel currently being written by Brandon Rhea. As part of the Alternative Star Wars Saga, the novel begins a re-imagining of the life of the canon Anakin Skywalker who, in The Chosen One, is introduced as Michael Lars. The story is told primarily through his eyes and focuses on his journey towards his destiny.
The Chosen One is set in 22 BBY in the backdrop of a tumultuous time in the history of the galaxy. A war on Utapau is referenced and seen in flashbacks, but the story takes place almost exclusively on Tatooine. Rhea has thus described the story as a "desert epic." Major supporting characters include Padmé, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Sarus, and a number of other supporting characters.
The novel has been in the production stage since 2007; in 2009, Rhea began a rewrite of the novel, which he stopped in 2010 in order to begin another rewrite. He has since split the original plan for the novel, which was to be told in three parts, into three parts, with the first being the current version of The Chosen One and the others being its two immediate sequels.

Now, on a peaceful backwater world, they begin their rise to claim power over the galaxy. But hope is not lost. Deep in the land in of the twin suns, the galaxy’s ultimate savior is thrust into the heart of a cosmic war between good and evil. Plot summary
Edit
The story starts off on Tatooine in medias res—"in the middle of things"—in the aftermath of a Trade Alliance invasion of a small Republic world on the border of the Outer Rim Territories, which will be shown throughout the novel in a series of flashbacks. The primary storyline centers around Michael Lars, a poor moisture farmer on Tatooine. He learns about his destiny, which sets him off onto a journey that will prepare him to move into a much larger galaxy which—beyond his little corner of the Outer Rim Territories—he's only heard legends and stories about.[1]
