The galaxy doesn't need me. It needs the Jedi. It needs you.
Luke Skywalker to Rey[src]

Skywalker is an ongoing fan fiction novel set in the Star Wars Generations continuity written by Jacob Kingston. Specifically, it is part of the The New Jedi series. The novel was inspired by others in the Star Wars franchise, such as Darth Plagueis, Tarkin, and Thrawn.

The story itself is set in the aftermath of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi (though the prologue takes place directly after the ending scene of Star Wars: The Force Awakens) and focuses on an uncertain Luke Skywalker's rebuilding of the Jedi Order. After receiving a vision of Ben Kenobi revealing to him the location of a potential Force-sensitive disciple, Luke is forced to decide whether he will rebuild the Jedi or die the last of their lineage.

Skywalker began production in the summer of 2016, and was later released in eBook format on the popular website Wattpad as an ongoing series. The author has stated a goal to post at least a chapter a week until the novel reaches completion.

Publisher's summary[]

Luke Skywalker had faced it all. Imperial armies, Death Stars, Sith Lords. He had stared the dark side of the Force in the eye and emerged victorious. Now... Years after his triumph over the Emperor, Luke is faced with a new challenge: the resurrection of the Jedi Order. But Luke is uncertain about his role in restoring the Jedi, concerned that doing so might give birth to another Vader.

When he receives a vision of Ben Kenobi revealing to him the location of a potential apprentice, he realizes that the time for hesitation has come to an end. With Han and Leia's child well on the way, and already showing promising signs of Force-sensitivity, Luke must decide whether he will answer the call to restore the ancient order, or allow the Order to fade away into dustbins of galactic history...

According to the novel's introduction, the story of Skywalker was ironically born during a bout of writer's block while the author was working on another Star Wars story: Red Eagle.[1]
