—Vergulva to Horgan
The Skirmish on Ithor was a small engagement of the Cruentusian War. It occurred when Nataska Vergulva, former soldier of the Srav Federation, reluctantly joined the United Coalition of Worlds. Along with Nakata Milashka, another Srav defector, and former Necasian commando Snaipes Horgan, Vergulva led a commando mission to destroy a weapons dump on Ithor, which was successful.
Prelude[]
Following a coup, the Srav Federation had been taken over by sociopathic commander Ivran Gresev, who usurped and eliminated Jasef Yuiln. Nataska Vergulva, a heroine to the Srav people, had openly presented herself as an opponent of Gresev and was forced to flee with some of her loyalists to avoid death. After going underground, she had received information of the United Coalition of Worlds, and decided that affiliating with this government could help her remove Gresev. At the UCW of Corellia, she met with UCW leader Janos Snake to arrange matters. Following that, she was instructed to raid a Srav military base on Ithor, along with Nakata Milashka, a young Srav infantry officer who had also defected, and Snaipes Horgan, a former Necasian soldier who had got separated from Haveer Jarn and had made his way to the UCW. Although their relationship was considered fairly icy, they elected to co-operate for now.
The skirmish[]
Drop[]
The commandos were transported to the planet via Tantor-class battle cruiser, which appeared out of lightspeed in orbit, being careful to stay out of the range of orbiting Srav defense satellites. Aboard, the commandos entered drop pods and were fired into the atmosphere, due to land a short distance from the main target.
Impacting at their drop zone, the commandos quickly dispatched some Red Militia who were at the area upon exiting their drop pods. Vergulva kept incoming militia back with her sniper rifle, Milashka and Horgan eliminated those who got through, and commandos equipped with missile launchers kept back incoming TV-23 Robaczek enforcement vehicles.
With that, the UCW commandos began to place explosives in some areas around to create a diversion, forcing local militia to scatter. With that, Vergulva, Milashka and Horgan moved towards the weapons depot.
Big Bang Theory[]
Eliminating security towers with her sniper rifle, Vergulva covered the others as they blew a hole in the wall with explosives. Moving into the base, Vergulva was covered by the other as she located the largest explosives pile and placed discreet munitions there. With that, they began to pull out of the base as larger amounts of militia moved in.
The highest-ranking Srav officer in command, kommissar Anatol Kurzak, ordered the militia to spread out to locate the attackers. As the commandos pulled to a safe distance, Vergulva saw this approach as an opportunity to take out the enemy with impunity.
With many militia now in cover or in suppression to avoid Vergulva's sniper fire, she took the opportunity to detonate the explosives, the resulting explosion leveling the base and the blast neutralizing surrounding infantry. Kurzak took the opportunity to escape, with the command center for the satellite network now disabled, allowing the orbital frigate to dispatch further infantry reinforcements via drop pod. With that done, the remainder of the Srav garrison surrendered.
Aftermath[]
Following the battle, the commandos were congratulated, and the UCW felt it had scored a large logistical blow on the Sravs. Rumors also began spreading among the Sravs that Vergulva was still alive, contrary to what Gresev had said. Gresev himself began to take measures to stamp out said rumors with further repression, and his popularity began to drop as a result.
