That thing... tearing us limb from limb... I'll never forget such a bloody sight.
Feren Ulin recalling the events of the Battle on Coruscant

Shreinotaurs,or Derenidorai in Tarok, were a warlike species from Deren that were common in the Galaxy's Mythology and thought by many to not exist. The first Shreinotaurs originated in the Tarakkinian Iknolosian in unknown times further beyond the reaches of the galaxy that no explorer, no matter how brave, would dare to go. Around 695,000 BBY, they came into contact with the Charitons, producing a new species to the galaxy after a few years. Before long, the Shreinotaur-Chariton offspring, Charitaurs, rebelled against the Shrienotaurs, sending the Shreinotaurs to Tarog in exile. A large number of years later, the Shreinotaurs returned to Deren and overcame the Charitaurs. Although a great number of Shreinotaurs stayed on Tarog, most returned to Deren to once again make a fresh start in life.

A long time later, in 13 BBY, a great storm of the Force arrived on Deren and all but destroyed the population of Shreinotaurs on Deren(a few Charitaurs survived because of their advanced genetics).

More years later, when the Trandoshan Sith Lord Darth Tridian discovered a small Shreinotaur colony on Valdosia, they attemped to hunt down a Force-sensitive, for the Sith were in desperate need of a new apprentice. After finding a single Force Sensitive, the Trandoshan, being vicious as he was, slaughtered the entire rest of the village, as he had no use for them, and so the Shreinotaur population on Valdosia was eliminated.

However, Shreinotaurs still inhabited the galaxy on Tarog, and never really died out at all until the Aftermath War, but survived nevertheless. They continued to fight for freedom for as long after that as the Galaxy existed.

History[]

Early History[]

KaleePlanet

Deren as the Shreinotaurs inhabited it

Deren, located almost beyond the furthest reaches of the galaxy, was the Shreinotaurs' homeworld. Only a primitive social establishment was put in place in 696,094 BBY, for the Shreinotaurs were a warlike species and prefered to fight each other for social class positions. The highest class in the Shreinotaur social system would be known as the Akkoran. The Akkoran had to be at least four years old, and they had to have defeated at least ten opponents in a fight. The Akkoran would live in a dwelling larger than other Shreinotaur dwellings, though still not very large, and the Akkoran was feared by all, except for those Shreinotaurs that dared to challenge them.

The Akkoran would fairly rule and fight for the Shreinotaurs as he lived, and this was true for most of them. The Shreinotaurs lived peacefully for many years under the Akkoran's guidance.

In 695,000 BBY, the Charitons arrived on Deren seeking a home. As they settled in on Deren, they came into contact with the Shreinotaurs, producing the shapeshifting Charitaurs. The Charitaurs lived in peace with the Shreinotaurs and Charitons for many years, but began to question the power and authority of the Shreinotaur Akkoran. The Akkoran agreed to combat three Charitaurs to show his strength. It was a bloody battle, but the Akkoran prevailed. Enraged, the Charitaurs sent one of their number to kill the Akkoran in his sleep, and they were successful. This angered the Shreinotaurs just so much as to stage a full scale war against the Charitaurs, which lasted hundreds of years.

The War for the Homelands[]

Blue Glass Arrow Main article: War for the Homelands

By 667,486 BBY, the Charitaurs had killed all the patience of the Shreinotaurs, and the Shreinotaurs wanted to be free of the monstrous things they had produced. At the time, The Akkoran Forredak was leading the Shreinotaurs, and he placed a request for peace for the Charitaurs. As the Charitaurs declined the offer, an advanced Shreinotaur government needed to be established. Shreinotaurs were chosen to take many positions.

Examples are...

Acronna--General/Commander

Devvenoa--Battle Planner

Ilbilonicia--Military Gatherer

Sharokon--Weapons Supplier/Weapons Training

As the Ilbilonica worked to build up a force, the Akkoran and Devvenoa set to work organizing a battle plan for the Shreinotaurs. When one was put together, the Ilbilonica was informed and told the many Acronna and the Sharokan, then the Shreinotaur forces were rounded up and moved to combat the Charitaur forces on the Burning Plains. The battle was short but hard, and the Shreinotaurs were forced into a retreat. The Charitaurs celebrated the next day, and the Shreinotaurs plotted once again.

Battle of Fallonica and the Fate[]

The next day, the Charitaur military forces moved to the Fallonica Ruins and got into a random formation to defend the ruins from the Shreinotaurs.

The battle was long and bloody. Using the many stone formations as cover, the Charitaurs jumped out and slaughtered the Shreinotaurs. The Shreinotaur forces moved to the Fallonica Ruins were all destroyed, both the Acronna and the standard warriors.

The Akkoran Forredak was now disturbed. The Shreinotaurs had been defeated in every battle that had been staged to that point. They needed one victory.

Unfortunately for the Akkoran, his wish was not granted. The morning following the loss at the Ruins, the Charitaurs attacked the Shreinotaurs at each village. It was a quick loss. Charitaur warriors completely destroyed every Shreinotaur dwelling on Deren. Also, the Akkoran Forredak was killed. In a hurry to not be killed themselves, the remaining surviving Shreinotaurs fled in exile to the nearby planet, Tarog, using the starships that had brought the Charitons to Deren. The Charitaurs watched the Shreinotaurs depart with feelings of success and suspension. There had to be more to the situation than meets the eye.

Rejuvenation Attempt[]

Once they had arrived on Tarog, the Shreinotaurs settled in the spot they had landed in, for it was remote and peaceful. Their first order was to appoint a new Akkoran. A young female called Chiora was chosen. She was a fierce fighter, able to take down almost any opponent alone. Once Chiora was chosen as Akkoran, the Shreinotaurs searched for food and shelter.

Shreinotaurhabitat

When the Shreinotaurs had gathered resources and found shelter, they started over their lifestyle. Also, a fighting force was started, in hopes of retaking Deren someday. The Akkoran, Chiora, also issued an order that storage houses be built to store food found on the remote planet, for that particular area of the planet was suffering a drought at the time. The Shreinotaurs had to forage much more than they did on Deren, and that almost resulted in an early extinction in the first couple of years there on Tarog. All was not well until a group of Shreinotaur foragers reported seeing large animals that looked to be edible. This lifted the spirits of the entire population. Hunting parties were sent out to catch some of the animals. However, the animals proved hard to capture, because not even one was caught, and so the Shreinotaurs lost all hope of survival on the remote planet of Tarog, and it looked as if the Shreinotaurs would die hopeless and starved on the planet.

In 667,478 BBY, a young Shreinotaur was born named Alakariel. As Alakariel grew up, he had many hardships, because of the brutal living conditions of Tarog. He vowed that when he grew up, he would find a way to help the population have a full life. When Alakariel was six years of age, he became the Akkoran. His goal was to think of a way to get food for the population. After months of thought, Alakariel declared aloud that the Shreinotaurs needed to have long range hunting weapons, instead of just swords and axes. Bows were manufactured, and in no time at all, great meals were had, and the large animal, then called the Stuu, was often had as the main course. Alakariel was satisfied with himself until a harsh Tarog winter came and killed many of the Shreinotaur population. He decided that the Shreinotaurs would have to return to their homeworld of Deren and reclaim it from the Charitaurs who had stolen their old life away. The Acronna, Devvenoa, Ilbilonicia, and the Sharokon set to work in their respective divisions. Home was not far away.

Return and Conquer[]

Blue Glass Arrow Main article: Shreinotaur Rebellion

The Shreinotaurs spent three years preparing for the return to Deren. Alakariel was patient at first with the long amount of time that the preparation was taking, but he began to grow impatient in the second year. After another year of preparing for the conquest of Deren, the Shreinotaur Ilbilonica had gathered enough warriors to lay seige to their Charitaur-held homeworld. They loaded them up onto the starships and leapt into space in the direction of Deren.

Once the gathered Shreinotaur force arrived on Deren, they couldn't see any trace of hte Charitaurs. The warrior parties split up and hunted for the enemy. One party, led by Oriald, found a large Charitaur village. They gathered the Shreinotaurs and stormed the village, sending Charitaurs fleeing in every direction.

Behind the Scenes[]

The Shreinotaurs were inspired by the Minotaur from Greek Mythology.
