Shmi was the mother of Michael Lars. She knew Luke Lars, a moisture farmer on Tatooine. In 44 BBY, Shmi gave birth to her son, though she died sometime thereafter. Michael was left in the care of Luke, as well as Luke's son Owen.^[1]

Behind the scenesEdit

Shmi is a character developed by author Brandon Rhea for the novel Star Wars: Episode I - The Chosen One. The character is based on the canon character Shmi Skywalker Lars, who was portrayed by Pernilla August in the films Star Wars Episode I - The Phantom Menance and Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.^[2][3]
