Scherma was a one-handed lightsaber style developed by Vandros and Valdras Artenon; two Jedi who fought in the Mandalorian and Jedi Civil Wars.

Of this style there are two substyles: The defensive Scherma de Vandros (which was developed by Vandros Artenon) and the aggressive Scherma de Valdras (which was developed by Vandros' older sister, Valdras). Both substyles were named after their creators by their colleagues, rather than by themselves.

The Scherma style (along with a breif archive of era related information) was recorded in a Holocron by the siblings. Identical copies of these Holocrons were concealed at Jedi Temples throughout the Galaxy.

During the Clone Wars (Approximately 4,000 years later), one of the few surviving Holocrons was discovered in the ruins of an ancient Jedi Praxeum on Arborfrost. It was discovered by then lieutenant Daniel Joseph Artenon. He became the first non-Jedi to learn the Scherma de Vandros style in Galactic History.

Characteristics[]

  • Both substyles are left handed, as Valdras and Vandros were both left handed.
  • This style works best when using a weapon with cant (a term used to describe the cuvature of a sword's handle. See fencing), similar to Count Dooku's lightsaber.

Behind the scenes[]

  • Scherma is Italian for Fencing.
