"Ringworm" was the nickname of a young female Twi'lek recruit in the Republic Marines. She was in the same platoon as Laera Reyolé, which was led by Gunnery Sergeant Tuffass, their Gand drill instructor. Tuffass named Ringworm after the wormlike appearance of her lekku, despite the fact that "ringworm" was actually a fungal infection.
When the platoon reached the third phase of its training, they were divided up into three training squads. Ringworm led the first squad, while fellow recruit Miranda Cenchu, nicknamed "Makeup," led the third. Throughout boot camp the two were fierce rivals; while Makeup was demoted from squad command and replaced with Reyolé, Ringworm earned high marks, including expert ratings with both blaster pistols and blaster rifles.
