The Republic of Worlds Against Darth Dude was a miniature Republic formed by the Jedi Order during the war with Darth Dude as a way of unifying worlds and producing a stronger front. the Republic was disbanded following the war, and recreated following the Invasion of Bakura, with its new capital decided upon as Coruscant

[edit] Beginnings
In 54 ABY Jedi Master Xander Vos journeyed to Bespin and begun talks with the administrator of one of the gas cities to form a coalition between the two governments. Since the war's beginning in 39 ABY the Jedi had exposed themselves to the Galaxy, and their homeworld was no longer a secret.
In 55 ABY Jedi Master Vikro begun talks on Sullust about drawing it into the growing alliance. The following month Jedi Master Lyn Korak brought the ORS into the alliance on the economically rich world Eriadu.
With these four worlds (Bakura, Bespin, Sullust and Eriadu) the Republic of Worlds Against Darth Dude begun, with a Senate beginning construction the following year on Bespin.
With its completion in 57 ABY, Cerea, Belsavis, Sluis Van and other worlds of that sector joined the Republic, contributing their vast resources to the important organisation against a critical enemy.
Over time the Jedi slunk into the background, taking more of a minor role in the continuation in the Republic. Once the Darth Dude Conflict ended in 71 ABY with the Battle of Reldar Prime, the Republic gradually become strife with corruption, depending more on the Jedi, who had been told that they could depend on the Republic.
Following the miniature invasion of the Yuuzhan Vong, the Jedi Council took direct action, passing a motion that all but disbanded the Republic, and over the next years the various member worlds returned to their own affairs.
[edit] Revival
Following the Invasion of Bakura in 86 ABY, the Republic was drawn back together by fiery politicians driving for a need for a central government. They believed the Sith Empire could not be allowed to rule the Galaxy unopposed by fair democracy.
After its revival, the Republic contacted the Jedi, and formed an alliance with them. However, unlike during the Darth Dude Conflict, this time the Jedi did not divulge their location to the Republic, instead meeting on Coruscant if meetings were ever to take place.

In 160 ABY, the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic was assassinated by an unknown source, and blame was quickly placed on the Sith Empire that lurked out upon the Outer Rim. The Republic put immense pressure on the Jedi to act, and finally the Jedi were forced to invade Kroprulu, where they were beaten soundly, and their Grand Master kidnapped.
