The Republic Protectorate was an investigative arm of the Judicial Forces that served the broader Republic. The Protectorate was the interplanetary policing agency for the Republic, comprising over 167,500 full-time agents and nearly 250,000 other staff members. The agency had offices on nearly every planet with a population greater than ten million, with the greatest concentration in the Core Worlds. The Mid Rim and Outer Rim were divided into regions that were heavily staffed and often rotated from planet to planet. The agency was bypassed 703 BBY by Senator Servius Valorum of Coruscant, at the approval of Chancellor Anwis Eddicus, for the investigation into Senator Hanik Regueny of Commenor, which led to the uncovering of the conspiracy behind the Seswenna Security Crisis. This investigation was headed by Special Agent Evening Delwynn of the Governmental Investigative Network, a sister organization within the Judicial Forces.
