The O'ran-class War Frigates were designed to be heavy, close-in warship for the Wolatarian Navy. Although effective against sector patrol vessels and light capitals, it proved ineffective against the modern heavy warships like the Pellaeon-class Star Destroyers.

The vessel was designed around the eight forward facing laser projectors. Unlike the standard turbolasers, these were photon beams amplified by simulated radiation emissions. A neodymium-diamond medium was used to allow for the intense energy to be directed in a solid beam moving at c, at enemy vessels. The three reactors produced massive amounts of energy, stored in capacitors for firing the main guns, while a large refrigeration system ran through the ship to keep the projectors from over heating. Flak cannons provided defense against attacking fighters, and for close range engagements with smaller capital class vessel.
