The New Sith Wars were fought between the Sith Brotherhood of Darkness and the combined forces of the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order circa 1,000 BBY.[4] One particular battle during the war was the Battle of Dathomir.[5]

When the war ended with the supposed destruction of the Sith, Supreme Chancellor Tarsus Valorum enacted a series of reforms in the Republic he called the Ruusan Reformations. One implications of the reforms was that they disbanded the Republic's standing army.[3] In the thousand years that followed, school children in the Republic would sometimes play mock war games with their friends where they would re-enact the events of the New Sith Wars.[6]

For nearly a thousand years, the Jedi Order believed that a Jedi strike team, led by Jedi Masters Valenthyne Farfalla and Alsius Hoth, had destroyed the Sith at the end of the war. Because of this, they dismissed the validity of the Prophecy of the Chosen One, which spoke of a savior who would one day destroy the Sith.[4]

Despite what the Jedi believed, the Sith remained hiding for a thousand years, operating under the Rule of Two as dictated by Darth Bane, the founder of the Order of the Sith Lords. Later leaders included Darth Erilis, Darth Plagueis, and the Dark Lord.[5]
