The Mandalorian Wars were a series of massacres that masked another war, a war of conversion; culminating in a final atrocity that no Jedi could walk away from…. save one.
Kreia, referring to the Jedi Exile[src]

The Mandalorian Wars was a galaxywide conflict that took place between 3,976 BBY and ended in 3,960 BBY, between the Galactic Republic and the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders. The conflict was divided into three phases: the initial battles took place on the Outer Rim beyond Republic-controlled space, and consisted of the Mandalorians raiding worlds in order to test their skills and gather resources. The second phase opened in 3,964 BBY, when Mandalore the Ultimate launched a three-pronged invasion of the Republic. The final phase began a year later, when Revan and his followers from within the Jedi Order began to intervene in the conflict.

Under Revan's direction, the forces of the Republic Military were able to halt the tide of conquest. Later, they were able to begin turning the Mandalorians back, pushing them out of Republic space and forcing them on the defensive. Though both sides began to run low on resources, ships, equipment and personnel, the conflict became even more intense during the final campaign. This culminated in the trap laid by Revan at Malachor V, which saw the near-total annihilation of the Mandalorians' forces and the death of Mandalore. In the wake of the battle and subsequent surrender, the Mandalorian clans were forced to disarm themselves.
