Mandalorians don't make threats. We make promises.
Canderous Ordo[src]

The Mandalorian Clans, also called Mando'ade which meant Children of Mandalore in Mando'a, was the name given to the warlike, nomadic group of clan-based people, called Mandalorians, consisting of members from multiple species. Their culture revolved almost entirely around battle and war, as they believed it was a source of honor and pride in their community. The leader of the Mandalorians typically took on the title of "Mandalore". The Mandalorians Clans were allied with the various Sith Empires in the galaxy more than they were anyone else, but there were times when they became briefly allied with the Galactic Republic. They also did not hesitate to cooperate with the Jedi Order if it suited their goals.

In order to gain honor through combat, the Mandalorians were involved in many conflicts throughout the years. During the Great Sith War, they were an ally of Exar Kun. The Mandalorians invaded the Galactic Republic during the Mandalorian Wars, though after Revan and Malak, along with other rogue members of the Jedi Order, betrayed the wishes of the Jedi High Council and entered the war, the Mandalorians suffered heavy losses and were eventually defeated at Malachor V. The clans dispersed and many members fell into dishonorable lifestyles, but Canderous Ordo was able to bring the clans back together. Thirty years after the Jedi Civil War, the Mandalorians sided with the Chiss House of EbonClaw during the Great Territorial War, though they eventually aided the Galactic Republic in liberating Coruscant from the Third Sith Empire.

After forty years, the Mandalorians were nearing internal collapse due to a lack of supplies, so they allied themselves with the Third Sith Empire and began the Great Rim Lines War, though despite gaining supplies they were defeated by the Galactic Republic. They sided with the House of EbonClaw once again when the United Mobus Resistance and the Pirates Guild launched the United Pirate Crusades against them, and decades later they played a small yet significant role in the Great Sovereign Crusades, mostly in the two battles on Onderon. The Mandalorians kept themselves in the thousands of years that followed, but there were rumors that they were involved in the Invasion of Utapau and that one of their supposed members, Jango Fett, was the host for an army of Clonetroopers created for the Republic.
