Lego Star Wars Episode III : Rise of the Empire is a Lego-brick fan-fiction trailer to the third episode of the Star Wars film series "Revenge of the Sith", that was made and released by a star wars fan Jay Silver in 2002 several years before the Episode III actual premiere.
The aim of the project was to show the story of Anakin Skywalker that turned to the Dark Side of the Force during the establishment of the Galactic Empire by the chancellor Palpatine.
Synopsis[]
The trailer begins with the scene in the Jedi Council, where Mace Windu informs Anakin Skywalker that he is no longer a member of the Jedi Order, thus sentencing him to the exile. Obi Wan Kenobi is also present in the scene, looking at his former Padawan, that fastly becomes infuriated by the Council's decision.
Meanwhile most of the politicians, including Mas Amedda, considered the separatists as a significant threat to the Republic. Soon after that Palpatine held a meeting in the halls of the Senate informing the senators and the citizens of the martial law, as a necessary measure in the current crisis. Hundreds of Republic attack cruisers make their way to different worlds, and thousands of clone troopers are sent to maintain order and peace in outer regions.
With all the measures taken by the Republic government, some of the senators - among them the representative of the planet of Alderaan Bail Organa - learnt that somehow and someone was constructing a new super weapon for the unknown reasons. The Jedi also suspect that there is someone in the Senate that had ties to the Sith. The chancellor knows about that and tries to use Anakin Skywalker to "regain trust" among the Jedi, and Anakin learns more and more about power.
The situation becomes more and more tense, as the Senate no longer trusts the Jedi Order, and someone begins the hunt for the Jedi knights right in daylight in the streets of Coruscant using droids and assassins.
After several attacks on the Jedi Obi Wan Kenobi decides to warn senator Padme Amidala, that she might be in danger too. They try to leave her apartments when the clone troopers attack the senator and the Jedi master in the halls of her residence. After being stuck in the elevator cabin the two escape through the collector beneath the apartments where they meet a dianoga that tries to kill Kenobi, but steps away after he cuts several of her limbs with a lightsaber.
As Darth Sidious puts all his plans in motion with the aid of count Dooku and his fellow bounty hunter Boba Fett, he sends his new apprentice Anakin Skywalker with a new assignment to a remote planet. During this mission Anakin, completely drawn to the Dark Side, meets his former master Obi Wan Kenobi. They began a duel that would eventually end with the "death" of Anakin Skywalker and birth of Darth Vader.

Behind the scenes[]
In 2007, a re-edited version of the film was released by Star Wars fan Jedichris8 and was presented on YouTube as well. It was based on the original movie, created by Jay Silver, but so that the video would actually correspond with the official Episode III trailer. The scenes were changed in several places. Some moments (e.g. featuring Chewbacca) couldn't be made, as there were no such scenes in the Rise of the Empire film.
