Kiminus was a blue gas giant orbiting the star Kamino in the Kamino system. It was an overlooked planet until 9 BBY, when the Kaminoan Federation created a station in its upper atmosphere as part of its resource-gaining program. This base also served as the staging area for the invasion of Kiminus VI, the sixth, habitable moon of the planet. In 9 ABY, the area of space around it hosted the Battle of Kiminus between New Republic, Imperial and Kaminoan forces.

Description[]

Kiminus had a diameter of about 102,000 kilometers, slightly smaller than contemporary gas giants, like Bespin. Its upper atmosphere was ravaged by storms, including a significant one located in the southwestern areas of the planet. These storms were mostly made up of ammonia clouds, along with methane, while about 100 meters lower lay a breathable atmosphere, though it was mildly toxic to non-natives due to trace amounts of different gases. This habitable layer ended at a depth of 70 kilometers and was followed by a hot, chaotic section consisting of gaseous xenon, radon, iodine and astatine. After this section came a zone made up of solid phosphorus and metallic hydrogen and the planet's core.
