The Keltrayu was an Imperial Star Destroyer, the first produced by the Golden Empire. It was named for the late Keltrayu, the first Centurion and the apprentice of Queen Rin Sakaros. It was constructed at Kaldu`uzian Shipyards, and was the single largest project of the decade.

Construction[]

Construction of the Keltrayu began at Mir Kaldu`uz in 104 ABY, shortly after the planet joined the Golden Empire. Given its great cost and the need for resources, the project took seven years, with periods of frenetic activity and great slowdown. The need to replicate existing Known Galaxy technology also contributed to the slow pace, as Leik scientists were forced to spend time analyzing the Indomitable and its constituent parts, as well as overall schematics.

The Keltrayu was finally completed in 111 ABY and christened by Rin Sakaros herself.

Service history[]

The Keltrayu saw service almost immediately at the Battle of Waldragos. Although some of its crew were new to Star Destroyers and some were new to the Royal Navy at all, Tariun Sakaros had staffed the ship with enough enlisted spacemen and officers from other Star Destroyers to mentor their less experienced colleagues. The Keltrayu took more damage in the battle than it might have under a seasoned crew, but was still responsible for several ship kills.

Like the rest of the Empire's small Star Destroyer corps, the Keltrayu was often used as a demonstration of overwhelming force to pacify rebels or to utterly decimate pirates. The Keltrayu saw service in the Conquest of the Chiss Ascendancy, fighting alongside the Prime Fleet at the Battles of Cormit, Naporar, and both engagements at Csilla.

Some time before The Tribulation, the Keltrayu came under the command of the Doloy captain Rensi Shal-Shatir. The Keltrayu was a major force in the Ssi-ruuvi Incursion, and her crew won great acclaim as Shal-Shatir commanded the space portion of the Battle of Shest Minor. After the Ssi-ruuk were expelled from the Empire, the Keltrayu returned to the Vagaari War and served under Legate Tarse Medrego until the war's end.

By the time of the Nightmare War, the Keltrayu was still in service and again under Breek Zagrev's overall command.
