Kayo Dantius was a Human male Jedi Master who served the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic during the last quarter of the Draggulch Period. Once a Jedi Knight and General of the Order, Dantius battled the dark side-worshipping Sith Empire during the New Sith Wars. In a campaign to defeat the reigning Dark Lord known as Darth Rivan, the Jedi Knight partook in a surprise attack against the Sith forces on the planet Almas. The battle resulted in Rivan's demise, but not before the Dark Lord wiped out many of the combatants by invoking a dark side storm, leaving Dantius as one of the few survivors.
Despite the large number of casualties, the Almas campaign was deemed a victory for the Republic, while Dantius himself was praised for partaking in the ousting of Darth Rivan. Hoping to reinforce his status as a public hero, the Jedi Council bestowed upon him the title of Master. Though initially reluctant to accept, Dantius eventually understood the necessity, believing it would help restore hope amongst Republic citizens in the face of the Sith crusades. Following his promotion, the Jedi Master continued leading Republic forces against the Sith holdouts. As a result, Dantius became a figure of scorn amongst the Sith, leading to number of assassination attempts against him.
