Imbroglio was an Outer Rim planet and was the site of the Imbroglio Summit as well as the first battle of the Clone Wars. The planet had a layer of clouds with the cities on top, the largest of which was Caldera.

Imbroglio was chosen as the site of the summit for discussions between the Confederacy of Independent Systems and the Galactic Republic, represented by the Loyalist Committee, as it was not affiliated with either organization. Unknown to the Republic until afterward, Kanesh Dijoro, leader of the Brolgs, had secretly joined the CIS, which was why Dooku agreed to the meeting.
The summit was an elaborate betrayal designed to trap and kill the Loyalists, yet Obi-Wan Kenobi managed to notify the Jedi Council of the trap and the newly created Grand Army of the Republic invaded, shortly after declaring war on the CIS. This became known as the Battle of Imbroglio.

Imbroglio is inspired by Bespin from The Empire Strikes Back and the clouds form a similarly deceptive theme of what happens on the planet.
The name "imbroglio" means a misunderstanding, disagreement, etc., of a complicated or bitter nature, as between persons or nations.
