Hugo Eckener was a Chief Architect serving the Naboo Royal Advisory Council of Naboo. He is the father of Karl Eckener, grandfather of Jon Eckener, and great-grandfather of Thomas Eckener.

In 20 BBY, Hugo Eckener was present in the Theed Royal Palace when the Separatists invaded Naboo. This eventually led to the Second Battle of Naboo. He was ordered by Panaka to remain safe in the Throne room until he noticed that the doors were jammed. He was able to take cover, and grab a pistol from a fallen officer, and shoots several battle droids across the hall. However, he badly shot in the arm, and was taken to the hospital for recovery.
After the Clone Wars ended, Hugo attended Amidala's funeral during the birth of the Galactic Empire. Hugo lived his life in Naboo, refusing to serve the newly formed Empire, and retired his service in the Naboo Advisory Council.
A year later, after the Galactic Empire invaded Naboo for harvesting fugitive Jedi, Hugo traveled to Varykino to spend a week there. He then planted seeds in memory of the people that he knew during his life.
