Glorior is a hardboiled epic crime drama fan fiction novel set within the Force Legend Series written by Dalton Wylind and published by Definite Wind Productions. The currently-incomplete novel takes place before Force Legend I: Convictions, the first novel of the main Force Legend Series, and acts as a "prequel spin-off" for the character Yirebi Trapani, who has a major role in the main Force Legend Series. In production since early 2009, Glorior began its release as an eBook on the Star Wars Fanon, the Star Wars wiki of fan invention, on July 9, 2010. Since the beginning of its release, a prologue and thirteen chapters have been released. The novel is divided into six "Books." Although still in the early stages of release, the novel has received positive reviews from critics and readers.

The novel is set in the Old Republic era, and follows mainly Jirebon Trapani, the boss of the Trapani Crime Family, and his crew, associates, and relatives throughout the Human Mafia crime lord's hard life. It also introduces Yirebi Trapani, Jirebon's son and eventual successor. The novel spans roughly forty-six years of Jirebon's life.

On February 4, 2012, over three years after its initial announcement, Wylind announced that the novel was undergoing a major rewrite, thus delaying further content releases.

In 4,002 BBY, on the world of Anon, Oliviero Trapani, a tailor, meets with a local prostitute, Marisa Santa, with whom he is having an affair without his wife's knowing. While the two are in bed, armed gunman burst into the room and brutally murder both Oliviero and Marisa. Detective Makram Alboin concludes that Oliviero's murder, who was the primary target, was done after he failed to repay a loan from a local crime lord. Hours later, Lindi Trapani, Oliviero's wife, learns of her husband's death.[5]

Five years later, sixteen-year-old Jirebon Trapani, now fatherless, gets into a physical altercation with another student. After winning the fist fight, Jirebon is confronted by Hyram Darden and Myron Seter, who recruit him to do a weapons-smuggling job with them for Don Nikola Georg, the boss of the Georg Crime Family, a syndicate family in the Human Mafia. The three manage to pass through a police checkpoint undetected and make it to the drop-off point. A small firefight then ensues against a group of rival family mobsters, in which Jirebon kills the first person in his life. After eliminating the rival mobsters, the group completes the mission, and Jirebon is paid a large amount of money. Soon after, Don Georg betrays Jirebon by ordering him killed, but Jirebon survives the assassination attempt and kills Georg with the help of Darden and Seter, who have become strongly loyal to him.[5]

Seven years later, a now-adult Jirebon Trapani has gained a reputation as a respectable crime boss on Anon who is compassionate and very talented. He has been using his business, Trapani Imports & Exports, as a front for his crime syndicate operations, and has made a small fortune. Now trying to official create his own crime family and join the Human Mafia, Jirebon is attempting to eliminate any and all rivals on Anon. He proceeds to expand by killing Don Sven Nikola Georg, Nikola Georg's son and successor, and eliminating the Georg Family. With the Georg Family and all opposition eliminated, Jirebon is allowed by the Commission to officially join the Human Mafia, and creates the Trapani Crime Family. Darden and Seter happily agree to faithfully serve as his caporegimes, or captains. Jirebon also recruits Tatius Karna to serve as his lawyer and consigliere, or adviser.[5]

In 3,988 BBY, two years later, Don Jirebon, Darden, Karna, and Seter meet in the Trapani Compound to discuss the family's expansion to the world of Romin. They form a shaky alliance with the Mangani Crime Family, headed by Don Whir Mangani. Two two families agree to form a partnership to eliminate the other families and rivals on Romin so that they can further expand. Days later, Aldous Boldan, a newly-crowned soldier of the Trapani Family, meets with Don Jirebon, whom assigns Boldan a mission that is to be carried out in secret. Meanwhile, Darden and Deimos Percival, a new soldier of the Trapani Family, assault the shopkeeper of a store a rival Don often frequents intending to "send a message."[5]

On the world of Falleen, Boldan meets in secret with Republic Senator Hentik Molti, and tells him about Jirebon's plans of preventing the proposed creation of the Organized Crime Bureau. Boldan tells the senator that, as they speak, several members of the senate leading the proposed creation are being assassinated. Boldan then asks Molti to agree to work in secret as a corrupt senator with the Trapani Family. In return, Jirebon would ensure that Molti becomes the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic. After a moment of consideration, Molti accepts and the two part ways. Boldan then moves to complete the second part of his mission, which is to find and retrieve Caro Alonzo, a poor worker who works long hours for little pay. Alonzo seeks revenge against the nobles on Falleen, and he soon makes his desires known to the public. Right before Boldan arrives, Alonzo's mother is murdered and Alonzo himself is attacked by mercenaries hired by the House of Tabris, the noble family Alonzo seeks revenge against. Before they can murder Alonzo, Boldan arrives and kills the hired mercenaries. He then takes Alonzo to an hidden safehouse on Romin.[5]

In a restaurant on The Strip on Romin, Seter watches Manasses Premisl, a soldier for the Felip Crime Family. After Premisl finishes eating, Seter follows him and his two Falleen bodyguards down a back alleyway. Seter then shoots and kills the two bodyguards before assassinating Premisl.[5]

Days later, sixteen-year-old Natasha Velinduke is working as a waitress a cantina owned by Codda the Hutt. After taking too long in serving drinks, a Falleen crime lord who is a guest of Codda's takes Natasha and sexually assaults her in a alleyway. Jirebon and Nereus happen upon the scene, and demand Natasha be released. The Falleen, who was a brother of the two bodyguards killed by Seter, refuses and sends his thugs on Nereus. Nereus defeats the thugs in unarmed combat and kills the Falleen crime lord. Jirebon then takes Natasha to his penthouse suite at the Rinido and has her wounds treated before offering her a place to sleep for the night.[5]

Three months later, Senator Hentik Molti is contacted by several men in his home claiming to be from the Trapani Family. They tell him Jirebon requested to see him in person, and take him to a warehouse on the outskirts of the city. The say Jirebon is just outside on the other side of the building, and he enters the warehouse. As he exits on the other side, he is surprised to see Don Indra Felip, head of the Felip Crime Family, along with two dozen Felip Family enforcers. Molti realizes that he had been lied to, and that Felip intends to kill him. In a desperate last stand, Molti takes out as many Felip Family enforcers as he can before being brutally gunned down. A few minutes later, Jirebon receives word on Molti's assassination and prepares to strike-back at the Felip Family. While in transit from The Strip to the Rinido, a large battalion of Romin Planetary Police officers intercept them. Nereus, Jirebon's bodyguard and pilot, is shot and Jirebon is arrested on several felony charges, though he is confident he will soon be released.[5]

Jirebon is processed and booked into a RPP jail. Karna, two other lawyers, and a handful of Trapani Family enforcers visit him and begin to set up arrangements for his release. The two conclude that the Felip Family had bribed certain members of the RPP to arrest Jirebon, even without the necessary evidence to obtain convictions. Without solid evidence, the RPP will be forced to released Jirebon after one day. Meanwhile, Darden and Boldan travel to one of the Trapani Family's many safehouses, where they speak with Caro Alonzo, who Boldan had rescued back on Falleen three months prior. They take him to Jirebon's penthouse at Lake Dartmint.[6]

Some time later, Karna meets with Alfon Taun, the underboss of the Mangani Family who is currently in command after Don Mangani disappears. The meeting ends badly, and Karna walks away under the impression that the Manganis will break their alliance and attack.[6]

Twenty-four hours later, Boldan and Karna escort Jirebon back to his penthouse after he is released. There they encounter Natasha Velinduke, who Jirebon and Nereus had saved three months ago from a Falleen crime lord. Velinduke tells them that, because of her relationship with Boldan and friendship with Jirebon, her mother has been killed by members of the Felip Family. She goes on to tell them that they killers also tried to murder her as well, but she managed to escape. Boldan, who is Velinduke's "un-admitted" lover, lashes out at Jirebon when the latter refuses to let him assassinate Don Felip. Jirebon warns Boldan about his anger, then arranges Velinduke's relocation to a safehouse. Jirebon, Boldan, and Karna enter Jirebon's penthouse and meet with several other soldiers, enforcers, and associates of the Trapani Family. At the meeting, they reveal their plans to have Alonzo assassinate the head of a noble family on the world of Falleen so that they can mine a mineral on the planet that would allow them to make a new spice called New Galaxy. Still seeking revenge for his mother's murder, Alonzo gladly accepts the assassination mission.[6]

Ferdi Branslo, a soldier in the Trapani Family, returns to his home after the meeting and discovers that the power in his house it out, and, for some reason, the backup generator is not activated. Branslo soon discovers that an intruder is in his house with him. Weaponless and unable to leave his house, Branslo is left with no other option than going down into his house's basement and replacing the fuses which the intruder had tampered with. While in the basement, Branslo is shot in the head. Moments later, Deimos, having traveled to Branslo's house to discuss Alonzo's assassination mission, arrives and hears the shot being fired. He hides and sees Branslo's killer leave the house. As Deimos remains unseen and the killer passes by, Deimos shoots the killer in the head, killing him. Deimos then goes inside the house and discovers Branslo's corpse in the basement. He calls Seter.[6]

Meanwhile, Jirebon, seeking to get away from business, goes out to a diner alone. There, he is confronted by a mysterious strange man who appears to have an advanced knowledge of Jirebon's life, even though Jirebon has never met the man before. In a very unusual conversation, the man questions Jirebon's morality and past actions. The man appears to be omniscient and claims to have been alive "for many centuries" and states that he "knows everybody." Jirebon at first passes the man off as a lunatic, but the man proves himself definitely supernatural by asking strange questions, particularly asking if Jirebon remembered Jysella Nopora. When Jirebon says he does not, the strange man replies by saying that Nopora was killed in Jirebon's war against the Georg Family. He says that she was a "pretty girl, until her eye was hanging-out by a tendon and her brains splattered all over the wall." Jirebon soon becomes unnerved by the man's presence. When Jirebon shouts out in an outburst, the strange man uses an unknown power to keep the other patrons in the diner from hearing. When Jirebon threatens the man by saying he will not be held responsible for his actions when he kills the man, the man seems unmoved and says "oh, but you will be held responsible. You will." The man then tells Jirebon that Jirebon has a strong heart, and that it's "too bad it will fail you in the end." Ultimately, Jirebon breaks down and pleads the man to leave him alone, after which the man vanishes. It is possible the man is just a figment of Jirebon's imagination, although the "encounter" leaves a lasting impression on Jirebon's view of himself.[6]

All happening simultaneously, Makram Alboin, the Anon Police Force detective who investigated Oliviero Trapani's murder and saw a child Jirebon many years ago, is informed by the Commissioner of the Anon Police Force, Cellah, that he is no longer a detective for the APF, but now a special agent for the newly-created Organized Crime Bureau. Alboin is placed in charge of the Anrom sector, which contains the worlds of Anon and Romin, among dozens of others. Alboin then heads off to Coruscant to find out more about his new position.[6]

Back on Romin, Deimos is standing outside Branslo's house. Seter arrives and the two converse, talking about Branslo's life and Alonzo's approaching assassination mission. When Seter goes to leave, Deimos asks him if he ever regrets having a live filled with crime. Seter answers no, and says "regretting doesn't save us from our choices," hinting that he does in fact somewhat regret his life of crime.[6]

Two weeks later, Jirebon receives word that Don Mangani has been found dead and that the Mangani Family's underboss, Alfon Taun, is blaming the Trapani Family for their Don's death. Jirebon also learns that somebody has tipped off Jefair Tabris on Falleen, and that Tabris now knows somebody is coming to kill him. Suspecting a rat within his organization, Jirebon has Darden investigate. After, Jirebon returns to Anon, where he begins to crack down on small-time gangsters who disrespect his crime family.[7]

Meanwhile, Seter and Deimos begin gathering information on Falleen to help them with their mission of assassinating Tabris. Back on Romin, Darden discovers that a soldato named Tommy Oisset is the suspected traitor with the Trapani Family, and arranges for Oisset to be killed. Though OCB agents Makram Alboin, Johnny Dalgner, and Philo Marrow try to stop the killing, they arrive too late and Oisset is brutally hacked to death by men wielding meat cleavers in a park.[7]

Back on Falleen, Seter and Deimos successfully infiltrate Castle Tabris. Seter sacrifices himself for the sake of the mission in order to distract the castle's many guards. While he is being captured, Deimos sneaks up to Tabris' chambers and plunges a blade into Tabris' heart, killing him. Knowing that Seter does not want him to be captured as well, Deimos flees the castle and leaves Seter to his fate. Meanwhile, Boldan garrotes Felip Family capo Bram Harbart to death and Jirebon recruits the brutish, demonic Alavi Capen into his crime family.[7]

Eleven days later, Jirebon and Cher stand at the alter, set to be married. During the wedding, in simultaneity, Darden assassinates the only remaining Felip capo, Boldan shoots and kills Felip underboss Ludias Moss, and Alavi Capen secretly murders Alfon Taun and several other Mangani Family made men by blowing up the hotel they are meeting at. The assassinations cripple the Felip and Mangani families and greatly further the Trapani Family's place within the Human Mafia.[7]

Behind the scenesEdit

Main article: Behind the scenes of Glorior
Wiki wide-crop.png
Star Wars Fanon has a collection of quotes related to Glorior.

Author Dalton Wylind has stated that Glorior is much "darker, grittier, and violent" than his other fan fiction works. Indeed, there is heavy profanity, violence, references to drugs and alcohol, and sexual content in the novel, and it is not meant to be read by children. The novel is heavily inspired by Mario Puzo's The Godfather, its acclaimed film adaptation, and the film's two sequels, The Godfather Part II and The Godfather Part III. Other inspirations come from the Mass Effect series, the Splinter Cell series, Mafia II, and Southland, as well as three Martin Scorsese films: Taxi Driver, GoodFellas, and The Departed. Additionally, Wylind drew inspiration from dozens of other films, TV shows, and novels centered on criminal activity.

The original Book I of Glorior was edited by Scott Borek, author of the Epic of the Star Wars saga. Wylind and Borek met on Star Wars Fanon, the Star Wars wiki of fan invention, and began to collaborate on Glorior’s production.[3] Jack Sanders, Wylind's personal friend, also serves as an editor for the entire novel, both the original edit and the rewrite.

Development and releaseEdit

Dalton Wylind first announced Glorior on February 7, 2009. The then-untitled novel's name was to be revealed at the end of Stand, another novel written by Wylind, however he released the title separately due to delays with Stand's release.[8]

A teaser was released on the Star Wars Fanon, the wiki of Star Wars fan invention, on December 24, 2009.[9] The book's cover was released on February 14, 2010.[2]

The prologue and first five chapters were released as an eBook on the wiki Star Wars Fanon on July 9, 2010.[1] To date, in addition to the prologue, a total of thirteen chapters have been released. The book is also being released on Wattpad.[10]
