Fanon Cantina

Hey guys, this is an idea I'm trying out. If it succeeds, I'll make a new one every month. If it doesn't, I won't.

Let's talk about fan-fiction. Your fan-fiction. Each month, I'll either come up with a topic or I'll use one suggested by you guys. Then just sort of discuss it. You might learn something, you might find out about other people's fan-fiction that sounds really awesome. Please restrict this to stuff from your fan-fiction, but aside from that, no pressure. You can suggest, make observations, but no condemning other people's work and "I don't know" is a perfectly acceptable answer.

April's topic: Answer the following ten questions about a main character from one of your stories, or an idea you've had for a main character. Does not have to be finished story or character.

  1. What kind of childhood did your character have?
  2. Who is the person they are/were the closest to?
  3. How did they meet that person?
  4. What's their favorite hobby?
  5. What's their favorite food?
  6. If your character could go on vacation to any one place, where would it be?
  7. What does your character look for in a mate?
  8. What was the hardest time in your character's life?
  9. Why and how did they get through it?
  10. If your character suddenly got a thousand credits, what would they do with it?

I'll start, using Selusda Kraen, the lead protagonist of my Force Exile Series. Feel free to add your own or discuss other people's stuff. Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Talk page) 04:01, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

Atarumaster88's Selusda Kraen (28 ABY)[]

  1. He was raised at the Jedi Temple to be a Jedi Knight in the last days of the Republic after being taken from his parents at a young age. He was mediocre as a youngling and Padawan.
  2. As of 28 ABY, his wife Milya Kraen.
  3. Selu found her trying to sneak onto the ship he served on, but they quickly united to defeat a group of thieves stealing the ship. They saved each others' lives in the process.
  4. He likes history, collecting history, recording history. If the Clone Wars hadn't broken out and the Republic overthrown, he probably would have been a Jedi historian. Spending time with his wife and children is also high on his list.
  5. Selu is not picky, but likes kommerken steak and ootoowergs. Commenorian food is also a favorite.
  6. He's never had a close association with one world, but he enjoyed R'alla
  7. Someone who is loyal, strong, kind, and with deep moral convictions. Beauty is desired as well and Force-user is definitely a plus.
  8. The destruction of the Jedi Temple in 19 BBY.
  9. All his friends were killed in front of him and his entire universe was more or less destroyed. He went from being a Jedi Knight to a friendless, hunted fugitive and enemy of the state. His brother Sarth found him and helped him through the hard time.
  10. Probably buy presents for his family then donate the rest to charity. As a Jedi, he's used to living simply.

(Discuss) Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Talk page) 04:01, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

  • As a mediocre youngling and padawan, how was he treated in the Temple? Was he ostracized by the other younglings? Were there talks of sending him to the Jedi Service Corps? Was he chosen as a padawan out of pity? How did he deal with having mediocre talents? Was he content with flying under the radar? Did he envy the skills of other younglings? Did he see his sub-par skills as a challenge to overcome? Trak Nar Ramble on 05:23, April 14, 2011 (UTC)
    • Lotta questions here. When I say mediocre, he was just a little below average. He was a loner in his early childhood, since he didn't need to worry about his studies with his memory-retention rate., until he befriended a Tynnan named Skip around age 11. He was worried that he'd end up in the service corps and was as surprised as anyone when a Jedi Council member chose him as his Padawan, though the lead-up to the Clone Wars led to a higher demand for more Padawans. Being chosen by Plo Koon and not having to study earned him a fair amount of envy from other Padawans and younglings, but he formed a tightly-knit circle of friends with Skip, Serra Keto, Bairdon Jace, and Aubrie Wyn, and pretty much stuck with them for emotional support. Selu was always extremely self-conscious and worked hard to overcome his shortcomings and prove himself worthy of such a prominent Master, sometimes a little too hard, because he'd try so hard not to screw up that he would because that was all he was focused on. He definitely wished he was better at traditional Jedi strengths like mind tricks and lightsaber combat—his own strengths tended not to be as impressive. Emotional insecurity continued to be a lingering issue with him for years, he was never really comfortable with who he was growing up. Good questions, I hadn't thought about the opinions of the other Padawans as much. Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Talk page) 00:05, April 16, 2011 (UTC)

Karohalva's Rulph Obrikein (ambiguously 25 ABY)[]

Rulph Obrikein is an Imperial loyalist serving a diminutive self-styled successor state to the Empire somewhere in the Mid Rim. Misfortune has elevated him to idol of the rank and file, largely due to propaganda and a weird, fevered sort of charisma which he radiates. No Force sensitivity, though arguably if the Force has a twisted sense of humor, then it has made him one of its favorite subject of punishment.

  1. Don't know.
  2. Arguably his closest friend was his commanding officer who later committed suicide in response to accusations of war crimes.
  3. Don't know.
  4. Don't know.
  5. Don't know.
  6. He wants to go home.
  7. He's too distrustful to ever seek or accept a mate.
  8. He wiped out a planet-full of people through a freak accident.
  9. He didn't get through it. He underwent a complete psychological breakdown and still hasn't recovered.
  10. He would be suspicious because he's a paranoid basket-case who inexplicably exudes charisma and hates it.

Final sum up: put Rambo, Rommel, and that crazy homeless guy we all know in a blender and give him a string of mysterious victories against impossible odds and then have him accidentally commit genocide. Then you get Rulph Obrikein.

Cheers! Karohalva (Talk) 04:26, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

  • You're mean to your guy! I'm curious, how does Rommel fit in? I've read some histories of him so it'd be interesting to see what you brought in. Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Talk page) 04:36, April 14, 2011 (UTC)
  • Of course, I'm mean to him. I'm using him to incarnate the abject misery but determination to fight to the bitter end out of misguided loyalty to state and nation, as well as the willingness to do what in other circumstances is unthinkable, that so characterized the Wermacht soldiers fighting on the Eastern Front. Lucas does his best to base the Empire on the Third Reich, so why not? As for Rommel, my observation is that he wasn't as brilliant as everyone claims. Instead, he used his adherence to mechanized warfare to exploit the deficiencies of his opponents. He was an educated opportunist who gambled and won, as are all great commanders. I would have alluded to Heinz Guderian, whose memoirs, Panzer General, impresses me greatly, but I reasoned no one would know who he was. Obrikein is an opportunist. He sees the flaws of his opponents and exploits them. Karohalva (Talk) 04:47, April 14, 2011 (UTC)
    • On an aside, I've always considered Rommel's flanking of Gazala to be extremely impressive and in general the entire African campaign, if only because he was heavily outnumbered and never properly supplied/supported by the Luftwaffe, not to mention given idiotic orders and limitations by Hitler. What aspects of Rommel's character were you seeking to bring in? Do you see any similarities between Rulph and the canonical Maximilian Veers, who also seems to have resemblances to Rommel? Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Talk page) 00:15, April 16, 2011 (UTC)
      • National loyalty, quasi-aristocratic sense of paternalistic honor, absolute devotion to his military oath regardless of the worthiness of those to whom he swore it. Again, more akin to Guderian's personality, I guess, but applicable to Rommel, too. You won't find any military genius in the chapters I've posted because he's been demoted to a major and removed from mechanized command. Not to mention it takes place after he broke down. Soldiers love him because what he was, not what he is now. Currently, he's a pathetic shell of a man whose genius has deserted him and who blames himself for every death incurred during his command. He has not only lived past his prime but has lived past when he was meant to die. This isn't the Veers analogy you're looking for. Move along, move along. Karohalva (Talk) 03:27, April 16, 2011 (UTC)

Sebolto's Drewika Zirátæ[]

  1. He was born into a noble Acrolian family, but was orphaned as a child, forcing him into premature adulthood.
  2. Probably his clone brother, Tavo Zirátæ.
  3. The Geonosian Arena, during the Battle of Geonosis. Tavo nearly saved Drewika's life, destroying an attacking Destroyer droid.
  4. Music, as he is a drummer and a composer, the study of military tactics, and the collecting and building of weapons.
  5. Nerfburgers. Plain and simple.
  6. Probably Cato Neimoidia. He likes the views. Or perhaps Dorumaa.
  7. Definitely character before looks. Though he prefers both.
  8. His early childhood, without any parents, forcing him into a hard, mercenary lifestyle to drown his pain.
  9. He got through it by an unforgiving mercenary lifestyle, as well as taking pity on those beings whose station in life was similar to his early childhood (I.e. the Clone troopers)
  10. He's a rich man, what good is a thousand more credits? Probably invest in another useless, unique weapon that will hang on his wall forever.

(Discuss) King of the Dugs (Blab with me) 04:27, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

  • Interesting. He's a rich military man, but also favors character over looks in a mate and is known for his altruism. He also eats a commoner's food for his favorite. Did the manner in which he acquired the wealth influence him to not be the stereotypical venal rich person? Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Talk page) 04:38, April 14, 2011 (UTC)
    • Alot of it is based on the fact that he left his rightful inheritance after his parents' death, making his living as a mercenary. When he finally returned to Acrolis and his ancestral palace, he wasn't sure what to do with the money. He still stuck with his original lifestyle. King of the Dugs (Blab with me) 14:02, April 15, 2011 (UTC)
  • Do his peers resent him for being wealthy? What about his social clique? His milieu? Does not his class tend to position him more often in upper class settings, and if so, then how does he enter the seamier side of Galactic society, which in Star Wars is usually the more interesting one? And what about his politics? Voluntary military men tend to be politically conservative, sometimes almost reactionary. This narrows the variety of people with whom they associate, and also dictates their preoccupations. Karohalva (Talk) 05:36, April 17, 2011 (UTC)

Trak's Pepan Manja (c. 25 ABY)[]

  1. What kind of childhood did your character have? Never really got into that. I guess a pretty average childhood. Pepan was a pretty good cook, prolly started off in his parents' kitchen, helping with dinner. Beyond that, though, I never really explored that area.
  2. Who is the person they are/were the closest to? Well, Pepan does have friends and family on Kubindi. On Coruscant, though, he roomed with Darellius Bucher, a classmate. In prison, he gets along with Hardin. For the most part, though, Pepan is a loner. He's social only when he needs to be, otherwise he keeps to himself.
  3. How did they meet that person? Pepan met Darellius when he went to school.
  4. What's their favorite hobby? Cooking. Pepan loves to cook and write recipes.
  5. What's their favorite food? Insectoids. Gands especially have an exquisite taste.
  6. If your character could go on vacation to any one place, where would it be? It's a toss-up between Thyferra, the Roche asteroids, and Gand. However, since Gand has an ammonia atmosphere, then Pepan would prolly just go to Thyferra.
  7. What does your character look for in a mate? Pepan currently has no interest in a mate. However, if he met a nice Kubaz gal with as good of taste and refined of palate as him, he'd be pretty happy. If he can get outta the clink, first.
  8. What was the hardest time in your character's life? Being booted outta school and losing his internship at Calliandro's.
  9. Why and how did they get through it? Pepan never really got through it. He just went downhill from there.
  10. If your character suddenly got a thousand credits, what would they do with it? Pay his bail. =P

Overall, Pepan is a loner and a psycho cannibalistic nutjob. He's better off behind bars. Trak Nar Ramble on 04:40, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

  • Is he cannibalistic, though? I mean, does he eat other Kubaz, or restrict himself to insects? I wouldn't consider it cannibalism if he's eating other species. Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Talk page) 04:43, April 14, 2011 (UTC)
    • Well, I used "cannibalism" to define the eating of sentients in general, not necessarily the eating of one's own kind. In a galaxy of many races, it seems more apt to define it as such. But, Pepan restricts his diet to insects and insectoids. However, he has eaten other foodstuffs, as the prison won't cater to his diet anyway. Nope, he eats government cheese and luncheon meat from huge green cans, just like everyone else. Trak Nar Ramble on 04:54, April 14, 2011 (UTC)
  • Heh. Maybe someday we should collaborate, Trak, and have Pepan and Rulph meet each other Mass Murderers Anonymous. Karohalva (Talk) 04:52, April 14, 2011 (UTC)
    • Heh, why not? Writing nutcases is fun anyway. Trak Nar Ramble on 04:54, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

Magnum Rockwater[]

  1. The average childhood, although he did excel in school, specifically Political Ethics.
  2. His wife.
  3. They met on Alderaan at University during their Pol. philosophy class.
  4. Watching bio-holos and historical analysis programs.
  5. He has a thing for stiff spirits. Alderaan Ale.
  6. Any place that offers an ounce of solitude and quiet.
  7. Beautiful and caring, he needs an intelligent woman that could understand and sympathize with his plight and problems. Housewife.
  8. Assuming control of the Senate Bureaucracy after Orasco impeachment.
  9. He got through it by maintaining close ties to the Jedi Order and having a close circle of Senators to confer with.
  10. Put it into his bank for his re-election campaign or donate it.

Heady and intelligent, he is a capable leader and looks out for people.-I'm the Chosen OneYou must see it... 04:46, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

  • You used him in a fanfic yet? Karohalva (Talk) 05:09, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

Not yet, all the fics I had him in were lost in the Great Misplacement of the Flash Drive. That being said, the novella I am working on will have him in it. You interested in something?-I'm the Chosen OneYou must see it... 05:26, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

  • Yeah, how's his personality applied in his career? The article is vague. For example, how does patience (or lack thereof) with ignorance influence his behavior around constituents? If they're bigoted idiots, does he cater to their bigotry? If the media slanders him, does he take it personally? If so, why? Karohalva (Talk) 05:41, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

I am sure he would treat his constituents with respect, it would be out-of-character for him to attack them for their transgressions or character flaws. He will tolerate them and treat them well, but he will not let it affect his way of doing business. He won't cater to the bigots, but he will take care to listen to their ideas. As for the media, he will not take much from them. He views his position as one of service not status. He doesn't focus on looking good in the eyes of the media, rather he only cares about helping protect the Republic and its people. However, if he feels that the press is hurting the Republic in anyway, he will make it known. He isn't a dictator that will install a puppet media to praise him. He doesn't care much about personal vendettas or grudges. This lends to his popularity because he is viewed as an unusual politician. The public lost faith in the status quo (hence the impeachment of Orasco), so they feel if he can do the job even though he is different, so be it.-I'm the Chosen OneYou must see it... 05:58, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

  • How does he deal with the kind of criticism that his actions and political actions have caused? He's got a heavy-handed style of leadership and promotes a lot of government expansion. I'm sure that didn't sit well with everyone. How does he deal with the representation issues of such a large Republic? There are millions of inhabited worlds, yet only a thousand or so Senators. How does he make sure all voices are heard, if that's a concern to him? Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Talk page) 23:42, April 15, 2011 (UTC)

As far as he is concerned, the criticism is part of the job. It does affect him if it leaks into the sessions of Congress. It can get to him, but he usually consults Jedi Council when the adversity gets to him. That said, he tries to ignore the media criticism that crops up in public. He is forced to be heavy handed and pro-government because his predecessors rarely did anything while in office and their hands off approach led to corruption. Since he is a wartime Chancellor he essentially has to shepherd the Senate through things because they are too stagnant and divided to accomplish anything. The publicly anti-Rockwater Senators (about half the Senate) don't like his approach or his morales. They'd rather he be gone or they would defect to the enemy. Also, since he works during a war, representation issues are largely set aside to focus on the war effort. It is up to the following Chancellor to deal with that, once the war had concluded. However, some of the Outer Rim members that had signed on were fed up with their lack representation and, consequently, it led to escalation of the war. He would like to hear the voices of his people, but, frankly, he is too consumed with running a war than fixing the issues of membership. -I'm the Chosen OneYou must see it... 02:27, April 16, 2011 (UTC)

  • Ah, yet wars become populist issues when material deprivation kicks in. Hungry or otherwise inconvenienced constituents make for a dissatisfied electorate, not to mention potential for public disorder if they believe their lot can be improved but isn't. Bread and circuses, friend, bread and circuses. Karohalva (Talk) 05:39, April 17, 2011 (UTC)

Tuffass[]

Because I'd like to attempt to steer this one away from the stereotypical drill sergeant archetype, at least a bit. I still want that aspect, but I'd rather it be something he'd turn on and off, like most DIs. Anywho...

  1. What kind of childhood did your character have? Still working on this. Tuffass started off as a nameless Gand findsman initiate who was born into an orthodox sect. His initiation required him to bathe in specific chemicals, as well as being subjected to genetic manipulation by the Elders to induce the appearance of knobby growths on his arms and legs. He was then trained to use these as weapons. Most of his childhood and adolescent years would have been spent sequestered with his sect while he underwent intense training and possibly some missions here and there to hone his skills. He meditated like most findsmen, and one of his meditations led him to enlist in the Republic Marines.
  2. Who is the person they are/were the closest to? You know, I never really thought about that. I don't think Tuffass is particularly close to anyone. He is social with his fellow officers, and after his retirement, he mellowed out, but I haven't given him a significant person in his life. Laera Reyolé was mentioned as being one of the grunts Tuffass was proud of, and they had worked together before, but that's it. He has other grunts he's proud of, too. Beyond that, Tuffass is a loner until I think of something. He may have had someone back on Gand, now that I think about it, family and fellow findsmen and all that.
  3. How did they meet that person? Can't really say since this part hasn't been touched upon yet.
  4. What's their favorite hobby? Tuffass devoted his life to the military. When off-duty, though, he meditates, goes for walks (or gimps, considering his limp), or heads to the gym. When he retired and his mobility started to become more limited, he would hang out at the local post of the VGW.
  5. What's their favorite food? Haven't thought about it. Perhaps there is something at the commissary that he likes and keeps in his office. Perhaps he's a chocoholic. Actually, you know what? I think I'll do that. Tuffass loves chocolate. He loves chocolate filled with groundnut butter. And he loves it after it's been in the freezer for two hours. Oh baby, the quickest way to his heart right there.
  6. If your character could go on vacation to any one place, where would it be? Considering he's been away for so long, Tuffass prolly wouldn't mind going back to Gand and see those mists again.
  7. What does your character look for in a mate? Not sure. Tuffass was pretty much married to the Marines. The mists sent him on a different path and he vowed to not stray from that new path.
  8. What was the hardest time in your character's life? The battle of Yavin 4. He lost his left arm and leg in that battle. After the initial adrenaline high while attempting to clear the landing zone so he could be evacuated out of there, and after his mangled limbs were amputated, Tuffass had flashbacks of the battle. For a while, every time he'd close his eyes, he'd see the Massassi that tried to dismember him.
  9. Why and how did they get through it? The mental trauma culminated in a personality shift. Tuffass became more aggressive. He felt that he had been caught unawares by the enemy, and he did not want the same thing to happen to his recruits. So, what better way to prepare them for a service in hell than to make sure their training is hellish as well? The aggression was also a cover for the flashbacks and any other emotions that he perceived as weaknesses. He also meditated and went for walks and visited the gym to release the aggression and calm his mind. He never spoke about Yavin 4 or how he had come to lose his arm and leg (which grew back shorter than their original length, thus causing his limp), as he perceived it as a weakness.
  10. If your character suddenly got a thousand credits, what would they do with it? Put it in his savings, help pay off bills? Tuffass wasn't really motivated much by money.

Basically an Ellis Island immigrant success story. Starts off not knowing a lick of Basic and with only the clothes on his back, retires a Gunnery Sergeant in the Marines. I'm still tweaking his personality here and there. This is a joint effort with Goodwood, and while I had originally based Tuffass off of R. Lee Ermey, I'd like to add some different traits to him and round him out a bit more, break him away from his current archetype. I wanna keep his attitude (after all, he intends to live up to the name he earned), but I'd like to round out his personality a bit more and felt that the PTSD might help with that. Trak Nar Ramble on 06:41, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

  • Do beware of modeling any character after R. Lee Ermey. Not that I'm any authority, but he is a horrible example of a Marine. His bluster is the sort of Hutt feces you find from those who either never fought a war or (and this is the only possible explanation I can concoct for him) have forgotten what it's like. Karohalva (Talk) 03:33, April 16, 2011 (UTC)
    • Hence why I really wanna break this character away from that initial archetype. I had drafted up an outline for his personality over the weekend and I still intend to make numerous changes to it in order to round it out better. I have it sectioned off into pre-Battle of Yavin 4, post-Battle of Yavin 4, and Overall, with traits listed for each and what may have led to those traits. Trak Nar Ramble on 04:17, April 18, 2011 (UTC)

Celeste Ial[]

  1. What kind of childhood did your character have?
    • Celeste had a rough childhood. Her father was governor of the Seswenna sector until he was killed in an accident. Her and her mother then served as servants to the Tarkin family, where she befriended Echon Tarkin, Wilhuff Tarkin's son. After her mother's death, she was allowed to remain with the Tarkin family. Once the Grand Moff had died, she and Echon joined the Imperial military. Once the Empire had fallen in 4 ABY and she believed Echon to be dead, she fell into a deep depression. During the Elsian blitz, she and her squadron charged into the thick of battle, capturing the rebel leader, Kilbasa. Her actions cost many lives and she was retired without honors. Despite the setback, she was selected for the mission to the ancient planet of Voltar to start a war with it's inhabitants in 7 ABY.
  2. Who is the person they are/were the closest to?
    • Celeste finds herself closest to Echon Tarkin, her childhood friend. As a servant, she was not able to talk to many children besides him. After she believed him to be dead, she refused to make close attachments.
  3. How did they meet that person?
    • She was a servant in the Tarkin mansion. Echon approached her because he was bored and wanted someone to play with.
  4. What's their favorite hobby?
    • Her favorite hobby was probably collecting holovids from various sources. Most of them pertained to Echon.
  5. What's their favorite food?
    • Not really sure. Too much fine cuisine in the galaxy. Celeste enjoys a lot of fine cuisine thanks to her status on Eriadu, but she mostly enjoys the vegetables she grew in the garden.
  6. If your character could go on vacation to any one place, where would it be?
  7. *No idea. The galaxy is too big to pick one place. Feriae, and not because Echon was stationed there. The planet was selected as the Imperial resort for a reason.
  8. What does your character look for in a mate?
    • By the time she was in her early teens, Celeste wanted to marry Echon.
  9. What was the hardest time in your character's life?
    • When she had received the news that the Death Star II had been destroyed with the Emperor on board. When Echon was also listed as "missing in action", she lost it.
  10. Why and how did they get through it?
    • She almost didn't. She became very suicidal and was costing the remains of the Empire valuable men. It wasn't until she was forced out that she started to calm down. By devoting her time to collecting remains of the people she had lost over the years via holovids, she repressed her suicidal tendencies.
  11. If your character suddenly got a thousand credits, what would they do with it?
    • Money never really felt like something she cared for.

I decided to start with Celeste here since she's a character that I have most of the details fleshed out, but haven't really put them down on paper (or in this case, on SWFanon). She's one of the main characters in Imperial Treachery and I'm planning on putting the others down as well.--Josh BenderTalk 09:02, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

  • The obsession that Celeste apparently exhibits with Echon... did that ever get her into trouble with her peers? Did anyone comment about it? Trak Nar Ramble on 20:25, April 14, 2011 (UTC)
  • Do take care with this character. There's a fine line between romantic pursuit and crazed stalker. Karohalva (Talk) 03:02, April 15, 2011 (UTC)
  • How did she treat her squadron while she was manic? Obviously, she held no regard for their lives in battle, so how did she view them otherwise? Was she inordinately hard on them? How did they respond to her behavior? Were they stronger for it or worse off? Fiolli {Alpheridies University ComNet} 15:17, April 15, 2011 (UTC)
  • I changed her obsession with holovids to her collecting them of people who she had lost over the years, including Echon. I hope that that lowers her from stalker mode to just depressed and trying to hold onto old memories. As for her squadron, I'll figure that out today. I haven't really touched on the Elsian blitz all that much in my notes.--Josh BenderTalk 16:57, April 15, 2011 (UTC)

Ty294[]

  1. What kind of childhood did your character have? Early childhood not known, but he became Stormtrooper in his teens.
  2. Who is the person they are/were the closest to? His closest friend was a Chistori bounty hunter named Maccus.
  3. How did they meet that person? Business partnership.
  4. What's their favorite hobby? Fighting, killing and getting paid for it.
  5. What's their favorite food? Not known.
  6. If your character could go on vacation to any one place, where would it be? Naboo.
  7. What does your character look for in a mate? He doesn't, at least, not intentionally.
  8. What was the hardest time in your character's life? During the period from 16 ABY to 17 ABY during the SE-Sith Wars.
  9. How did they get through it? With a lot of nasty injuries.
  10. If your character suddenly got a thousand credits, what would they do with it? Buy more guns and go earn more credits.

This is the Dawnbreaker version of this character. I consider the Dawnbreaker series "non-canon" as it pertains to the rest of my story-line. AK2Ty294AK1(Talk) 12:45, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

Michael Lars/Annikin Skywalker (22 BBY)[]

Michael Lars, who will later be known as Annikin Skywalker, is a character introduced in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode I - The Chosen One. He is a poor moisture farmer on Tatooine, living under the tyrannical rule of the Hutt Cartel. He has a desire for rebellion but a fear of taking action. Michael lives a humble life, not knowing the destiny that awaits him in the prophetic Land of the Twin Suns.

  1. What kind of childhood did your character have? He had a simple upbringing. He lived on his family's moisture farm with his adoptive father, Luke Lars, and adoptive brother, Owen Lars, never knowing his mother—who died when he was a baby.
  2. Who is the person they are/were the closest to? His adoptive father, Luke Lars. He was a warm and caring figure who was able to provide guidance to Michael for years.
  3. How did they meet that person? After Michael's mother died, Luke—who knew his mother—adopted him. I'll refrain from saying anymore due to MAJORSPOILERS.
  4. What's their favorite hobby? Flying/racing.
  5. What's their favorite food? I don't know.
  6. If your character could go on vacation to any one place, where would it be? Somewhere with lots of grass and water—and no sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating, and it gets everywhere.
  7. What does your character look for in a mate? Kindness, compassion, and companionship. He wants a full equal partner, not someone weaker or superior.
  8. What was the hardest time in your character's life? A tragic, defining day a year or so before The Chosen One. I won't say much more than that.
  9. Why and how did they get through it? He hasn't, which is a major plot point in The Chosen One.
  10. If your character suddenly got a thousand credits, what would they do with it? He's from Tatooine. Credits are no good out here! If he got 1,000 peggats, though, he would use it to take care of his family and improve their impoverished lives.

Those of you who have read previous drafts of The Chosen One will notice some changes, especially in terms of the name Michael Lars. A blog post talking about some of these things, among others, is forthcoming. - Brandon Rhea Alliance Starbird (talk) 18:51, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

  • You mention that he has trouble with tragedies that he has in his life, will these tragedies dominate his life? Does that domination influence his decisions and actions? Do they paralyze his motivation to take action? (Make him indecisive or fearful of change) Also, will his simple upbringing be a help or hindrance in his development as a Jedi? -I'm the Chosen OneYou must see it... 04:41, April 17, 2011 (UTC)

The aforementioned tragedy will be a major part in his life when we first meet him in The Chosen One, and it has an influence on his decisions and actions as well as how he interacts with other people—and how other people interact with him. They do also affect his motivation to take action; his past haunts his present, causing him to have trouble letting go and moving into the future.

His simple upbringing will, at times, be both a help and a hinderance to his development as a Jedi. He doesn't have the societal baggage that most 22 year olds would have, but he does have other sorts of baggage that could pose problems. Being from the middle of nowhere in the desert, his education compared to that of other Jedi is significantly lower. He's a bright kid, but he's not like the other Jedi. - Brandon Rhea Alliance Starbird (talk) 04:47, April 17, 2011 (UTC)

  • Right, does his compassion and nature cause him to be susceptible to betrayal and/or cause him to be taken advantage of? He seems like a helpful guy and one that could be hurt by the deceit of others. Or will he be introverted because of this tragedy?
Since he grows up in a loving and "traditional" family will his alternative education cause him to be distrusting of Jedi teachings? What I am saying is, will he be resistant to what they have to teach? (Akin to Luke in ESB and Anakin in AotC) -I'm the Chosen OneYou must see it... 04:57, April 17, 2011 (UTC)

He's not really susceptible to being taken advantage of, at least not through conventional means of standard criminal trickery and what not. He's hardened because of living under the Hutts, but he was able to get his personality from his father, who in turn got it from his mother, etc. It was really the only way to live without going crazy. There will be a betrayal in TCO, though, that he won't have seen coming at all. About the Jedi teachings, he won't be distrusting, but, similar to Luke Skywalker, he'll have moments of doubt in terms of the abilities of the Force. - Brandon Rhea Alliance Starbird (talk) 05:51, April 17, 2011 (UTC)

Fiolli's Evening Delwynn[]

  1. What kind of childhood did your character have? She intentionally does not discuss it, but it was largely unremarkable.
  2. Who is the person they are/were the closest to? Other than her late husband and daughter, Jedi Master Sidian Greystone.
  3. How did they meet that person? He taught a seminar on investigative archaeology while she was in training on Coruscant. This led her to become an investigator.
  4. What's their favorite hobby? She desperately needs a regular hobby; that's part of her weaknesses. She consumes herself with work when she's on the case. When she's not on the case, she's usually "being productive" by rearranging furniture or redecorating/renovating her small house.
  5. What's their favorite food? Wintenberry pie.
  6. If your character could go on vacation to any one place, where would it be? She would prefer to be home on Alsakan, since she travels so much for work.
  7. What does your character look for in a mate? Someone who can bring some balance to her life, although she's still not ready to puruse anyone at this point in time.
  8. What was the hardest time in your character's life? The death of her husband and daughter during a bank heist on Alsakan.
  9. Why and how did they get through it? In truth, she hasn't. She continually searched for their killer, and eventually found him. One of the major points in the Golden Age of the Republic series is her dealing with the emotional trauma.
  10. If your character suddenly got a thousand credits, what would they do with it? She would probably invest it into upgrading her ship, since it is in some ways home and a necessity for her work.

I have to admit, it was hard to approach a character that expresses very little personally and answer these questions. If you've read the two books in the series thus far, you'd notice that I've expanded upon the character here based upon what I imagine her to be like. I'm interested to hear what thoughts are out there. Fiolli {Alpheridies University ComNet} 15:09, April 15, 2011 (UTC)

Jedi Master 76's Raen Benax (3,956 BBY)[]

  • Raen was raised by a noble family on Alderaan prior to the Jedi Civil War. Pampered and cared for all his life, his parents ensured he never lacked anything. They eventually sent Raen to the Sith academy on Alderaan for training and tutelage.
  • Raen was closest to his former combat instructor, G'aull Iulis.
  • His parents paid for the G'aull's services, and the mercenary begrudgingly began instructing their son. G'aull thinks the young man is his finest pupil, and Raen secretly respects the Iridorian warrior.
  • Raen is a starfighter enthusiast despite the fact that he himself is only an average pilot, spending his time in a spaceport cantina to pick up spacer gossip and reading about the latest starfighter developments.
  • Any type of nerf-based dish.
  • He has always wanted to find and visit Tython, the mystical homeworld of the Force. He would not mind retiring there once he located it.
  • A strong woman with a no-nonsense attitude; since he cannot abide "weakness", excessive emotionality or dependence would cause tension.
  • The hardest time in his life was when he was forced to flee from his homeworld on Alderaan.
  • Raen had been betrayed by his Sith masters after killing a Jedi in combat at their behest. After successfully escaping the planet, he dedicated his life to getting revenge on every single being that betrayed him.
  • He would use a thousand credits to invest in better weapons and armor.

Personality[]

If he was pampered all his life, would this not mean he is has a number of arrogance issues to grapple with? If he doesn't solve them, his quest for vengeance will be very short indeed. Karohalva (Talk) 05:43, April 17, 2011 (UTC)

  • Yeah, he's far too arrogant for his own good. It caused him some immediate troubles, and still does, to an extent. Besides, fighting the dark-side with the dark-side is only so successful in the long run. — JM76 Droid IRC Sabersmilyjm76 04:07, April 18, 2011 (UTC)
    • In the long run, it is never successful and is, ultimately, self-defeating. As I've alluded to in my latest novel.

    • Considering the Sith taught him that romantic love is a weakness, it would be difficult for him to justify any positive feelings with his (rather predominant) beliefs. In spite of this, he is prone to random acts of kindness in times of weakness (after he was exiled, for example). Barring women who would doggedly pursue him for his power or wealth, some women may see those acts and think there is something good beneath all his evil—probably not, though. — JM76 Droid IRC Sabersmilyjm76 06:37, April 22, 2011 (UTC)

MPK's Morgent Kelbus[]

Please note (because I tell you to) that this character does not have an article and probably will not; he's the protagonist of a novella that I have yet to release, currently under the working title Legends of the Jedi: Flight of the Night.

  1. What kind of childhood did he have? A pleasant one for a Jedi-in-training. Much of his time was spent hanging out with his master, going on missions with him, and such. He ended up becoming pretty good at Jedi stuff, and was lucky enough to not be exposed to violence or war before he was ready for it. So in short, his childhood and apprenticeship was rather comfortable.
  2. Who is the person he is/was the closest to? As of the story's beginning, that designation goes to Euthsia, a good friend, companion, and disciple of his.
  3. How did they meet that person? Sometime after being Knighted, Kelbus stumbled across Euthsia over the course of some mission or another; finding the man an upstanding and unselfish person, Kelbus offered Euthsia a position as a "Jedi disciple", meaning that he would travel with him and be instructed in the ways of service, justice, and other Jedi-related tenets (though without any Force training, since he is not Force-sensitive). Euthsia agreed, and the two have become good friends since then.
    • Note: While the practice of appointing Jedi disciples is unusual from a "modern" perspective, it was very common thousands of years before the Order started to become more centralized. Jedi Masters would sometimes have as many as a dozen disciples in addition to any apprentices.
  4. What's his favorite hobby? Standard Jedi stuff. Meditation, sparring, and the like.
  5. What's his favorite food? Kelbus, being a Jedi Knight, is not very concerned about such things. If it's edible, he'll eat it.
  6. If he could go on vacation to any one place, where would it be? By the end of the story, anywhere but Rutan. Something nasty happened there.
  7. What does he look for in a mate? While the story is set long before Jedi were forbidden to marry, Kelbus is not currently interested in that sort of thing.
  8. What was the hardest time in the character's life? His mission to Rutan, which is covered in the story. While there, he had to face some things about himself and life that he never had before.
  9. Why and how did he get through it? In the short-term, if he got through it, then it was with his determination and his sword. In the long-term - assuming he survived - time would have to tell if he ever did get through it.
  10. If the character suddenly got a thousand credits, what would he do with it? Being a Jedi Knight, he would find and give it to someone else who needed it. Money means little to the Force's chosen, but much to others.

Miscellaneous: Kelbus has been a Jedi Knight for only a few years as of his mission to Rutan, but isn't overly concerned about it. Apparently, the section of a road that passes through some ancient burial grounds has been made unusable by an unknown entity that resides within, murdering anyone who lingers or tries to pass through. Despite urging from his colleague Master Vinere that he should go with another Jedi, Kelbus is confident that he can resolve the situation with the help of his disciple Euthsia. -MPK, Free Man 18:46, April 17, 2011 (UTC)

  • Why did the Council allow him to go on a mission without the help of a fellow Jedi and why'd he bring his disciple?-I'm the Chosen OneYou must see it... 02:12, April 19, 2011 (UTC)
    • First of all, there isn't much of a Jedi Council that would be called "the Council"; this is set long before the Order started to become more centralized (and probably before it reached the peak of its membership count), so Jedi Knights are a lot more independent in their operations. Regarding Euthsia, Kelbus doesn't quite want to go entirely alone; after all, the mission could be dangerous. However, the act of bringing Euthsia with him instead of another Jedi suggests that he puts a lot of confidence in the results of his training of the man - in his own words, "I am perfectly capable of completing [the mission] out of my own resources". -MPK, Free Man 02:23, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

Is the confidence in Euthsia overconfidence? Or lack of faith in the Jedi? Or does he prefer the familiarity of Euthsia on this mission? Does his (over)confidence come into play in the novel? Meaning, does it play a role in the outcome of the story? You said that it affected him deeply, so does he suffer a reality check in that respect?-I'm the Chosen OneYou must see it... 02:29, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

  • I don't his confidence in Euthsia is unjustified - the man is well-trained and disciplined, having been on this job for a few years. Kelbus' preference for him over another Jedi is more about his faith in himself - that is, in how good a teacher he considers himself - than in any overestimation of his disciple's abilities, or anything to do with faith or lack thereof in the Jedi Order. And yes, this is important to the story. -MPK, Free Man 02:42, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

Goodwood's Laera Reyolé[]

  • What kind of childhood did your character have? Despite the loss of her home when the Krath hit Agamar when she was two, Laera had a good upbringing. She doesn't remember the raid at all, and her parents were cagey in regards to details. She only knew that it was because of Exar Kun's war and the Jedi's lack of willingness to help rebuild that brought about the need for both her parents to work long hours and why they had to live in a tiny apartment in the center of town. Her childhood was also somewhat shorter due to her enlistment in the Republic Marines at sixteen, which she did for the pay and not out of any real sense of patriotism or duty.
  • Who is the person they are/were the closest to? Silas Dan'kre, who despite being quite a bit younger (not so much that she could have been his mother, mind), turned out to be quite sharp and worldly. He is also an excellent cook.
  • 3. How did they meet that person? Field deployment with the Republic Marines in the first year of the Jedi Civil War. Silas was assigned to Laera's battalion right after graduating from the Marine Corps Academy and its field acclamation class.
  • What's their favorite hobby? Laera loves to whittle. She takes a dead blade and carves warships out of blocks of soft wood. Unfortunately she's never really able to keep up a collection, as military life is rarely conducive to such things. Instead, she sends them to her parents' as mementos.
  • What's their favorite food? You just can't go wrong with ta'cos.
  • If your character could go on vacation to any one place, where would it be? Laera has always been a little curious about Dac, actually. She did go there once while on shore leave, though—and got a rather nasty sunburn. But she wants to see the undersea cities that the Quarren have built.
  • What does your character look for in a mate? Intelligence, assertiveness, someone with the balls to be an equal partner in a relationship. Laera isn't interested in adoration and she cannot stand the idea of being in someone else's shadow.
  • What was the hardest time in your character's life? Just before the mission to capture Darth Revan. All the events of Laera's previous life and the things she learned and did after her death and revival finally came to a head during the voyage to the battle. The very next day she nearly died again, and this had a profound effect on how she ended up dealing with it.
  • Why and how did they get through it? Having the wise counsel of Jedi Master Kavar was a big help, but what really got Laera through that crisis point was Silas. It was during her recovery that, unconsciously reaching out for something familiar to latch onto, she formed a sort of bond with him (though nothing like the one shared by Revan and Bastila, not by a long shot). This was what eventually lead to them getting close.
  • If your character suddenly got a thousand credits, what would they do with it? I'll let Laera answer that question in her own words:
You're just giving me a thousand credits, out of the blue? You're joking, right? That won't even get you a decent blaster rifle—you should keep it, put it in the bank, and let it grow. Or donate it to the War Orphans' Fund if you're so determined to throw it away.
—Laera Reyolé, to Atarumaster88
    • So, what got her hooked on ta'cos? And curious, were they based off of the oh-so-delicious Choco Taco? And interestingly, Laera shares a hobby with the pre-Filoni Greedo. And though, she enlisted at age 16, that doesn't really cut her childhood very short. She had sixteen years to be a kid. When she became a teenager, did she act like a teenager? What were her hobbies as a child? Did anything in her past influence her decision to pursue a career in the military? Granted, it could be the loss of her home, but she was only two years old. Most lasting memories aren't formed until about age four (though many still have flashbulb (or flash-bang for GFFA terminology) memories), so perhaps something in her adolescent years led to her decision? Recruitment at school, perhaps? Trak Nar Ramble on 05:51, April 22, 2011 (UTC)

Dareth Pan'dha[]

  1. What kind of childhood did your character have? Fairly quiet all things considered, growing up in a farming community near the end of the war between the Empire and the Rebels. Strong family values, loving parents, thirst for knowledge lead to lots of reading and watching of holodocumentaries, etc
  2. Who is the person they are/were the closest to? hrn. Good question. Dareth's always got his family on his mind, but he's got a close friendship to Ric'ah T'rib, who's teaching him the ways of the Force and to Sinree Jenbeck whom he met in the diner they both work part time at. They became close co-miserating about work and school as only two college students could (it was, amazingly enough, totally innocent).
  3. How did they meet that person? Well... Ric'ah approached Dareth and his family after Dareth showed off using to Force to shield himself and his parents from a run-away speeder. Sinree he met, as stated above, at the diner both she and Dareth work part-time at, both to pay off their student loans.
  4. What's their favorite hobby? A bit embarrassed, because he thinks he's no good, but Dareth likes to write fiction, and wants to be a holo-novelist, even though he knows being lucky enough to make a living off of writing is difficult as best and sheer luck at worst. He also likes to cook
  5. What's their favorite food? I can tell you his -least- favorite. Beans of most any sort, or Peas. They leave a pasty, nasty feeling and after-taste in his mouth. He IS fond of "Mandalorange Burst" Pop
  6. If your character could go on vacation to any one place, where would it be? He... hasn't really thought of that, though ... What Happens on Zeltros, Stays on Zeltros... right?
  7. What does your character look for in a mate? He honestly figured he'd be single and a virgin for the rest of his life, until he met Sinree. Could they be Mate's in the future? Possibly, probably... right now he's just happy they are where they're at, relationship-wise. Sinree's big draw? Simple: Liking him for who he is, not what he looks like
  8. What was the hardest time in your character's life? Another good, tough, question. I'm not finished with his background yet, so right now the only things I could say are tough are 1. his training with the Force under Ric'ah. The balance he has to maintain to master many of the exercises as well as the mental and physical focus. It's simply more than Anything he's ever had to do in his life so far. 2. I'd have to say the fact he's starting out as a Bounty Hunter is pretty tough. Who to trust, who not to. When you have no choice in the matter. How not to get tricked, or back-stabbed. And the paperwork. UGH!
  9. Why and how did they get through it? with 1. Never giving up, even if he had to take a break and come back later in a calmer state of mind. with 2. That's a work in progress... and lots of hand cramps filling out the proper forms.
  10. If your character suddenly got a thousand credits, what would they do with it? Send half back to his parents and keep half for bills, repairs and the like.

I'm currently re-hauling a half-done character with some good concepts into a fully-made character with, hopefully, some good concepts Dareth Pan'dha (Talk) 07:49, April 22, 2011 (UTC)
