This is a historical archive of an election for a new CUSWFN leader. The result was that Brandon Rhea and Squishy Vic would be the new leaders for CUSFWN.. Please do not edit this page. If you have any further comments, add them to the talk page.
Many of you will know that I am retiring as Head of CUSWFN. A question that all of the few I have told asked was this: "Am I leaving Star Wars Fanon?" The answer is a resounding no. I am merely retiring as head of CUSWFN. My reasons can be read about in this weeks CUSFWFN (Edition XV), yet I hope for you to understand that they are for the good of (what I believe to be) the community. However, now comes the matter of my succession. I have heard two people at least express their interests in taking it off me, and I'm calling a community vote for the new Head of CUSWFN, as CUSWFN is, and always will be, a community thing. The way of voting can be seen below, and please conform to it.
All matters of the voting policy obviously apply.
You may nominate yourself, and if you do so, please give two or three paragraphs detailing what you've done for CUSWFN, what more you feel you can do, what you would take from the newsletter, and what you would bring.
If someone else nominates you, you may either accept or decline.
Anyone allowed to vote per the voting policy may; no prior assosciation with CUSWFN is required.
It is strongly recommended that, if you nominate yourself, you have at least a small assosciation with CUSWFN, such as being a one time Meet a User, or contributing numerous articles.
Administrators may be nominated. Technically, the name CUSWFN is an oxymoron, and it's more semi-official.
To vote/nominate someone, please use this format:
Obviously, this is to keep order.
I would like to take whoever wins on as an informal 'apprentice' type, and allow them to work with me on the last CUSWFN, so they can get a feel for it, and know what they're doing, so voting will end on the 7th June 2008, at 18:00 UTC.
Good luck to every candidate who is nominated! I shall remove mself from the nominating process, but I will vote. However, I do not have the casting vote; whoever gets the most votes will win, and I have no more input than anyone else. So, once again, good luck! Thanks for nominating me, Tom. Now, where do I start?
When I began on this wiki, I was the ultimate noob. Both Brandon and Vic know this; they had to warn me about policies at least twenty times; this is the first wiki I've ever participated in. Since then, I have learned a ton about wikis in general, about wiki markup, and about this community.
When Tom asked me to come on IRC several days ago, I had no idea what to expect, since my last request to come on the IRC was not very pleasing. I almost leaped for joy when I saw that Tom had offered me this position; he told me that if no one else wanted it, I could have it.
I know that many of you are not convinced that I would be able to fill this position very well. Let me tell you something. Look at this and this. And look at how I have matured since then (February), when I joined Wikia and SWFanon. I believe that I can add some spice to CUSWFN, and can maintain it almost as well as Tom, if not just as well or even better.
I don't believe him to be capable. The best guy for this position is definitely Tom but since he is leaving, I cannot see any one else doing it, minus a couple few who may likely reject a nomination. --Victor(talk) 21:43, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
I nominated this person as he asked me to, but not because I believe hm to be the best candidate (I'm neutral so far) but because he asked me too, but believes he can't vote. I may choose to vote later. My pageiChatWhat I've done 19:07, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
I didn't say you could have the position, but I said if no one else emerged I would think about letting you have it if there was no one else. My pageiChatWhat I've done 19:51, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
What can I say? He's done the most work for CUSWFN overall, and I'll now admit that he was the other person who said he was interested. He said he would most likely want to do this, and if he does, I'll back him all the way. His editing has been fantastic, and he's a completely trustworthy person. 'Nuff said. My pageiChatWhat I've done 08:28, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
If Brandon had said he was interested, I wouldn't have had Tom nominate me, but Brandon told me that he is too busy to run CUSWFN. -- Joe Butler (Obi Maul12) (Complain here) 22:23, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
I know, you told me that last night, but I nominated him nonetheless and will simply wait for his response. --Victor(talk) 22:32, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Joe, I told you that I had thought about running it for a few issues to reorganize it. I never said that I was too busy to do it, if I recall correctly. However, there is a better nomination, and that will be in the section below this. - President Brandon Rhea(Pressroom)(Record) 16:56, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
The way I recall it, you said that you just wanted to run it for a few issues bi-weekly to give it some spice. But the nomination below is better anyway. However, I still think that individual users, such as myself, should also be allowed to write articles for the CUSWFN if we want. -- Joe Butler (Obi Maul12) (Complain here) 17:29, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
I didn't say that you said that individual users shouldn't be allowed to write articles. I just said I still think they should be allowed, like they were/are when Tom was/is the head of CUSWFN. -- Joe Butler (Obi Maul12) (Complain here) 17:41, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
First, this idea was thought of by Vic, and I'm only posting it here because I agree with it. The idea is that he and I will run the newsletter together, which makes a lot more sense than one person doing it. Tom did a great job, of course, but it always seemed like he felt rushed. He got it out and all, but I don't think it's very fair to anyone to have to rush like that. Anyway, what we will be doing is basically splitting the work. For example, both of us can do the reviews of the Good Article and Featured Article of the week, with me doing the GA one week while he does the FA and then switching that around.
Vic will do crosswords because he enjoyed doing it himself for the Narod Antrell crossword. We will both work on articles such as news and other things. We'll be doing reviews on someone's fan fiction novels or upcoming games, movies, etc. based on Star Wars. We can also do "shameless advertising" for TF.N considering I'm a Moderator on the Jedi Council boards now. Then there's also Gonk who will be doing Darthipedia satire articles assuming he still wants to.
Anyway, that's basically it. We feel that this will be a very good and efficient team up here, especially since it will split the work between two people. I think it would be very hard to deny that this would work, considering that Vic and I have proven time and time again that we work incredibly well with one another. Let's see if you all feel the same.
Both of these individuals have my support. With two people working on it, there's less chance of delay, destruction, or any other such disturbance. -MPK 17:33, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
Hell, I did feel rushed. These two have great ability individually, and I feel that the working relationship they already share can extend to this. My pageiChatWhat I've done 17:53, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
I suppose so. I hope Brandon's grasp of time is more linear now (:-P), but I think these two have proven themselves in a bunch of other areas to be capable of handling this. And no Gungan/Ewok jamborees please. Atarumaster88(Talk page) 21:55, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
I oppose. You guys have enough stuff to do. That what I think. Vic and Brandon cant just keep taking role after role after role. I am still thinking who should do it.--Arav the Undersith(Talk Page). 05:47, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Sorry guys. It's just what I think. As Jesus Freak said "The Cabal strike again!".--Arav the Undersith(Talk Page). 06:02, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
(To Arav's opposition) First, Brandon and Vic both said that they have enough time to divide the work amongst each other evenly, and get an issue out each week. They also said that they'd allow other users to submit articles if they wished. Besides, who else is better? -- Joe Butler (Obi Maul12) (Complain here) 11:15, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Oi! Mate I say what I believe in. I dont want you 2 to to run it ok? Thats MY OPINION! I crossed my vote off Brandons because I changed my mind. Am I not alowed to state my opinion? Or just be like the rest of you and Vote support. I (as in my self) dont want them to be incharge of it. Not Brandon, Vic or them together. Of course im a Lone wolf because no body agree's with me right now! I can't believe you guys. I feel that you two are practily running the place! And you are! In Australia we say what we think and don't give a s**t what other people think. I'll vote for who I want to. And Im still waiting.--Arav the Undersith(Talk Page) 05:50, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
I love how you're telling people that you have a right to state their opinion in a way that basically says that other people don't have the right to state their opinion. Not only that, but I happen to know quite a few Australians, all of whom are good friends, and they're nothing like you. I think you're just a thirteen year old who whines a lot. Before you start to cry again, keep in mind that it's MY OPINION! - President Brandon Rhea(Pressroom)(Record) 05:59, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Using Australia as an excuse doesn't work. I know many Australians, and they're not all like this. Taking over everything? You sound like Wing on the SWRP. Arav, there's obviously a reason for why they have power and you don't. They're trustworthy, and good at what they do. Let us reward success with new chances, not jump t shadows and say they're conspiring against us. Oh... my... gosh... A Vic and Brandon Rhea conspiracy! SHOOT EVERYTHING!!! Oh, wait, that's just MY OPINION! My pageiChatWhat I've done 06:07, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Oh...What can I say.. You big boys are bulling me! Im telling Sanese! Anyway I respect that, and thanks, you powercrazy Yanks are all right! (Plots massive revenge). You all are against me! My Grand Army will kill you all!!! When I expand it....Oh god im so lonley.--Arav the Undersith(Talk Page) 06:08, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
I know a lot of teenagers and guys who are over 20 and none of them are as dull as Vic and Brandon. Wait... Im sorry. Lets just leave it at that. I hate fighting. Forget it.But as I said, lets leave it at that. Soryy for that stuff I said. Truse?--Arav the Undersith(Talk Page) 06:15, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I understand. Guess we got a bit carried away. I do feel, however, that Arav has the potential to be a great user, he just needs to sort out a few of his actions. My pageiChatWhat I've done 17:32, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
I couldn't help but LOL at this entire section. --Victor(talk) 18:57, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
I my self found it to be a bit Humours too, are Victor you crack me up with laughter. (Take pills for Maturity). Those pills are growth hormone. Just kidding fellow chumps!--Arav (talk) 05:51, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
