New Republic era

The First Battle of Eriadu was a battle in the Dark Order War which marked the end of the last Imperial forces that supported Jaden Korr.

Prior Events[]

In the Second Battle of Bakura, one of the Dark Order of Korr's greatest generals, known as Darth Persia, had betrayed and killed Jaden, the leader of the Order. Since Jaden did not have very much support from his underlings after the failure of Operation Dark Disease, most of the military commanders accepted Persia as the leader.

However, a small fleet and army who remained loyal to Jaden was outraged by his death, and refused to join the Sith's forces. They fled back to Eriadu, one of the most important industrial worlds in the entire Imperial Remnant.

In order to demonstrate his strength in command, and to place a key world under his control, Darth Persia personally led a force to Eriadu to eradicate the Loyalists. The Loyalist leaders holed up in a heavily fortified palace in Eriadu City, the planet's capital, and began preparing for a defense.

Initial Orbital Fighting[]

The Sith fleet exited hyperspace, launched fighters and bombers, and demanded the immediate surrender of the Loyalist fleet. Despite the presence of the Super Star Destroyer Persia, which was capable of destroying an entire enemy fleet on its own, the Imperials stubbornly responded by opening fire.

The Persia was escorted by over a dozen Kerl-class Battleships, the construction of which had recently been completed at Fondor. They moved with the Persia through the battlefield, cutting a path of destruction through the enemy fleet. Once the Persia had moved to the center of the Loyalist fleet, it and the other capital ships launched their complements of shuttles and landing barges to the planet's surface.

City under Siege[]

The Sith army landed with little resistance and surrounded the planet's capital city, where the Loyalist leaders were. They marched through the hills and engaged the city's perimeter defenses, which consisted of several AT-ATs, and rows of turrets with varying range, protection, and firepower.

Although they took heavy infantry losses, the Sith troops managed to penetrate the outer defenses and spread across the city. The AT-ATs and Heavy Artillery remained outside and bombarded the heavily-shielded palace. Despite constant enemy flanking maneuvers and close-quarters engagements with Mark 1 Droid Walkers and AT-STs, the Sith troops managed to secure the immediate area around the palace.

The Fleet Engagement Ends[]

Many of the Kerl-class Battleships, being inferior to the Loyalist Star Destroyers, were easily surrounded and decimated by the large missile payloads of TIE Oppressors and Aggressors. However, the guns of the Persia proved too much for the loyalist fleet. The Star Dreadnought concentrated all of its weapons on one capital ship at a time, ripping through their shields in short order. Despite heavy Sith fighter and bomber losses, the loyalist fleet was crushed.

The Final Strike[]

Meanwhile on the planet below, Darth Imperious himself was among the hundreds of soldiers storming the palace. He fought his way to the main security room and disabled the defenses, deactivating the turrets and shield barriers, as well as unlocking the throne room entrances. The stormtroopers relentlessly charged into the throne room. Defiant to the end, the Loyalist leaders drew their weapons and assisted their troops in the defense, but it was futile in the end. Eventually, the last of the guards were killed, leaving nothing to stop the stormtroopers from gunning down the Loyalist leaders in a hail of blaster fire.

The Aftermath[]

Soon after the execution of the Loyalist leaders, their remaining forces surrendered. However, Darth Persia did not execute the prisoners as Imperious had suggested, but instead allowed them to join his Sith army. Despite this act of mercy, news of the Sith victory on Eriadu had spread fear throughout the entire Imperial Remnant of being Persia's next target. However, the New Republic, unaware of the Dark Order of Korr's change in leadership, had assumed that the Dark Order War was ended in the Second Battle of Bakura. Because of this, Darth Persia was able to use the factories and shipyards of Eriadu to quickly build up his forces while at the same time remaining unnoticed by the Republic.
