The Omega Division known simply as Omega was a secret Imperial organisation consisting of members of the of the Imperial Department of Military Research and Imperial Intelligence, the group's function was to create superweapons and other experimental technology for Soontir Fel's reconstituted Empire. It's headquarters were on the secret Imperial world, Pelorum.

The group was disbanded in 44 ABY on orders from Emperor Fel, as it was not in keeping with how he wanted his Empire to be run, as Fel disliked the concept of rule by fear. His senior advisor, the Imperial Knight Hogrum Chalk, who was a well known believer in the power of fear and was a man willing to do anything (including mass murder and other atrocities) in order to gain victory, Chalk secretly kept the organisation operational, but unknown to Chalk, Raith Sienar, the CEO of Sienar Fleet Systems informed Emperor Fel of the deception.

One of the major projects undertaken by Omega was the Death Star III, which was used to destroy the Alliance-Republic joint forces assembled at Commenor, by destroying the planet, unlike the first and second Death Stars, the planet-destroying superlaser was not part of a space station, but was shrunk down in size and placed onboard the Imperial Star Destroyer Resolute, the Flagship of the Bastion First Fleet, commanded by Admiral Edouard Fenel.

After Darth Nyax (Irek Ismaren) was killed on Coruscant and the Ismaren Empire rejoined the Fel-led Empire, Hogrum Chalk started to recruit former Ismaren-loyal scientists to Omega Division, including Doctor Vul Isen, a Givin bioweapons expert from Korriban, who was previously loyal to Darth Nyax's Sith Order.
