Organa as a Senator prior to the Clone Wars

Organa succeeded Bail Antilles, a relative by marriage, as Senator of the Alderaan sector. He was in the confidences of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine and associated with like-minded senators such as Rhadé Nalanda of Naboo, Garm Bel Iblis of Corellia, Mon Mothma of Chandrilla and Chiron Dunai of Mamphra.

He was one of the first members of the Loyalist Committee and with Nalanda, organized and the negotiations with Count Dooku in the Imbroglio Summit. He also participated to a small extent in the Battle of Imbroglio which heralded the start of the Clone Wars. It was Organa who held Nalanda as she died and assisted with the transportation of her body back to Naboo where he attended her funeral.

During the war, Organa became concerned about Palpatine's dictatorial powers and the Loyalist Committee, which included Nalanda's successor Danta Pela, began to become convinced that the solution lay in rebellion against Palpatine (this was reinforced by [[Lefki Dunai, daughter of Chiron Dunai). He held secret meetings with the Jedi Knight Padmé Naberrie and tried to gauge the reaction of the Jedi Council. He was ready to act but the chance never came, Palpatine was killed by Naberrie and Anakin Skywalker and his treachery towards the Republic was exposed.

Transition Period[]

Organa was one of the key figures during the Transition Period that followed, he and the other Loyalists worked closely with Chancellor Amedda and was on the committee that revised the Constitution of the Republic against the draconian amendments Palpatine had instigated. His main opponent was Triev Stokra of the Corporate Sector, who attempted to work Organa's connections with the Jedi against him. Following a deadlock vote for the revised constitution, Stokra backed down and the constitution was approved by the Senate.

Senator Perenine of Avingnon, at Mothma's instigation, nominated Organa in the subsequent election for Supreme Chancellor. He won by a very narrow margin and the result was widely acclaimed.

Behind the scenes[]

Much of Bail Organa's non-canonical scenes are inspired by Jimmy Smits' portrayal of the character Matt Santos in the television series The West Wing of which Katana Geldar is a fan.
