A droid was an artificial being created by sentients. They were incredibly common throughout the Galaxy and were used for many different things, from mining minerals to combat. Droids could be any shape or size, but many had no ability to think for themselves. Some, however, such as Darth Tyler and Q-17 managed to become independent. Droids were responsible for creating the Galactic Droid Empire, New Droid Empire, Droid Confederacy and the Galactic Droid Alliance.
