The term drill instructor, abbreviated to DI and often otherwise called drill sergeant or drillmaster, referred to those whose task it was to "drill" recruits within the doctrines of most military forces across the galaxy, such as the Republic Military. Drill instructors also bore this responsibility in paramilitary groups and law enforcement agencies, including the Corellian Security Force. Drill instructors were typically veterans who volunteered to pass on their experiences along with their own interpretation of standard training practices.
