"The only mistake that I made was allowing that Sith Lord to kill me. In that, Dexon, all your anger grew, and in that moment, a Sith was born inside of you, ready to spring in at any moment."
—Drakkskaa's force spirit to Dexon

Dexon Kyjar was a Jedi Master and later a Sith Lord named Darth Brenos ten years after the Jedi Civil War. He was married to Lara Jace-Kyjar. The two had a son named Yurin.

Dexon was trained by the Trandoshan Drakkskaa and under his guidance would become a very powerful and intimidating presence. He fought many galactic powers, killing Sith Lords during his prime and helping to bring one of the most peaceful times in the galaxy to fruition.

Dexon was a master at the art of Mancery. He obtained this through the spirit of Brutalidon, who was one of the most powerful Mancers in the history of the art. He was also trained by Boli Delish in Mancery and would later defeat Delish as a Sith Lord during their final battle on Vjun.

He was made a Sith Lord by the Dark Lordess at the time, Viea, who coaxed the darkside out of him by offering up the life of his wife. As a weapon of darkness, he would go on to cause havoc across the entire galaxy, assisting the victory of nearly every Sith battle.

[edit] History - TheStarWarsRP

[edit] The Beginning

Dexon was born on Haruun Kal to two parents who were very strong in the force, even though neither knew about it or were trained for it. As such, Dexon grew up equally strong with the force. Also, as a Korunnai, Dexon grew up as a very strong individual. In his spare time he and his friends would often have fighting competitions to see who was the stronger. Dexon almost always won.

One day, a strange visitor from another planet visited their villiage searching for something. The visitor was an alien, a Trandoshan, though they did not know what he was looking for. The local boys were pitted in a tournament to fight eachother and the winner would receive a prize. Dexon won the tournament easily and the prize was to be trained in the Jedi arts on Coruscant. His parents agreed and sent Dexon off to become a Jedi.

[edit] Jedi Training

"This child could be the greatest Jedi, or he could doom us all. His fate is already written, but we are the ones who will decide his path here. We can help him now, or he will be forever lost."
—A Jedi council member regarding Dexon

Upon arrival on Coruscant, Dexon was able to meet the members of the Jedi Council, sitting in their chairs atop the pyre. There were a few humans, a Kel'Dor, his own Trandoshan master, an Iridonian and an Ithorian, among others, that filled the 12 seats. They wanted to interview Dexon, to make sure that he was actually capable of being a Jedi. As the Trandoshan had assumed, he was, and his training began.

When they made their way to the training facility, Dexon learned that the Trandoshan's name was Drakkskaa. The training began, starting with the Jedi code. This was actually the hardest part for Dexon to grasp, as he was more combat oriented, which led to him being a Jedi Guardian. He also had tremendous talent in crafting a lightsaber, which led to him making a great double bladed 'saber with a metal blade for added punch jutting out of the hilt. He mastered the force powers quickly and became adept at the Makashi form. His training was almost complete, he just needed to prove his worth as a Jedi by partaking in a mission.

[edit] Mission to Knighthood

"You were a fool to think you could make it through my palace and steal from me without getting noticed. Jedi teachings are nothing anymore."
—Gorba the Hutt

The mission did not seem that difficult. Go to Nar Shaddaa and get some top secret plans out of the Hutt's cache. Hutt's weren't reknowned for their physical prowess so he figured he could just fight his way through. The thing he didn't count on was that there would be guards around every corner, everywhere. It was during this mission that Dexon learned not to underestimate anyone. As soon as he broke down the front door with his lightsaber, he was surrounded by guards, all smaller than him, but he was outnumbered nearly 100 - 1. They brought him before the Hutt, which was the only mistake they made.

When he was brought before the Hutt, the guards left back to their previous assignments leaving Dexon to talk with the Hutt. Seeing nothing else around, he kindly asked the Hutt for the plans. When he was refused, he turned around and broke down the nearby door, assuming the cache would be nearby. It was, and Dexon grabbed the plans and leaped out a nearby window, only to grab the sill to trick the guards, they would go looking for him and then he could just walk out the front door. Mission complete.

"I can see it in your eyes, master. The way you looked at her that first time you saw her. The force is trying to guide you to something that needs to be done to complete your life. Without her, I think, events will not unfold. It is meant to be."
—Asof Vendul to Dexon Kyjar regarding Lara Jace

Dexon made his way back to Coruscant with the stolen plans, giving them to his master. He was then promoted to Jedi Knight. It was during this time that he began training padawans, and meeting some good people such as Boreguard Madet and Lara Jace. His first padawan was a young Kel'Dor, Asof Vendul, who he had trained to the best of his ability. This boy would go on to be a good Jedi Knight, before dying, protecting innocents. And so began Dexon's legacy as a great Jedi.

[edit] Death of Drakkskaa

"Only one of us will leave here alive, that much I can assure you... Jedi."
—Darth Sultir to the two Jedi

Later on, during a mission to Bespin with his master, Dexon received his first interaction with a Sith. It was a Sith Lord by the name of Darth Sultir, a Twi'Lek male. He was sabotaging a local fuel refinery that Dexon and Drakkskaa had gone to oversee the repairing of. They arrived just in time to attempt to stop the Sith Lord from destroying it and the whole colony. Unfortunately, during the battle, Drakkskaa was slain by the Sith Lord as the red lightsaber plunged through his chest. Overwhelmed with grief, Dexon attacked the Sith Lord ferociously, eventually force pushing him over the edge of the railing, sending him into the nothingness of the planet. Dexon then checked on his master, to see if he was alright, only to find that he had indeed lost his life.

Dexon picked up his masters body, sure that the refinery would be sade, and brought it to their shuttle. He transported the body back to the Jedi temple on Coruscant where there was a mourning ceremony for the once great Jedi Master Drakkskaa. The council now needed another member to join them, and though plenty masters could have been a good choice, it only seemed fitting to them to make Drakkskaa's old padawan the new master. After all, he had destroyed a Sith Lord.

[edit] Life as a Council Member

Dexon's life from that moment on became much more peaceful. There were not many more conflicts in the galaxy for a while, and Dexon could focus more on honing his skills and his personal life. But the knowledge came first, and he acquired a very exotic knowledge.

It was on a trip to Thyferra. Dexon encountered the spirit of a man named Norris Raddek, who nicknamed himself Brutalidon. Norris told Dexon of an ancient teaching called Mancery, where one could use his own imagination as his will and carry it out through the plains. This was a unique theory of the force that he was told about, but he did learn to use it, and that knowledge would come in handy later. Norris said that he should be the only one remaining after what he did to his traitorous master. Dexon did not want to question it at that moment, though he would meet that master later on in the very same day. After conferring in Dexon, the spirit imparted itself into his body, giving him all his knowledge on Mancery and his powers. Dexon was now an amazing physical specimen, even moreso, and grew very powerful with the force.

"This power, it is something you must be careful with. There is a taint that comes with it, and if not controlled, you could turn on your friends and those you care about most. I bare the scars of when that happened to me."
— Boli Delish to Dexon

Flying back to Coruscant, his ship was intercepted by a large vessel and brought on board. It was there that he met Boli Delish, the true master of Mancery. The two became friends during the time that he was there, as Dexon learned even more about the powers of Mancery.

"Everything seems so perfect now. With you, I feel complete, as if nothing in the galaxy could tear us apart. I want to be with you forever, until the day we die."
—Dexon to Lara before the marriage

After that, the amount of knowledge he received outside of the Jedi greatly diminished unil later. Instead, he turned his attention to himself and what he desired. The female Jedi that he had met early in his Knighthood, Lara, had grown fond in his heart. They were spending more and more time together until eventually falling in love. They would later get married on Coruscant, surrounded by friends. She would also join Dexon on the council.

[edit] A Dangerous Padawan

Dexon's first padawan with genuine potential after that Kel'Dor many years ago came while he was on the council. Adena Qel-Droma was her name. She was very strong in the force, and claimed to be over a century old, but kept alive through some strange technology. She already had great knowledge of the Jedi, which was a little disturbing, but Dexon still taught her all she needed to know to become a Jedi. It was not long until she was appointed to the Jedi Council as well, and with that, Dexon's successes grew and he was appointed Grand Master of the Jedi Order.

A Sith threat appeared sometime after that, a Dark Lord by the name of Lord Myst had brought the Sith back to life, after defeating Dexon's one time friend Boli Delish in combat to take the throne from him. But not after long, Myst disappeared, replaced by a female Lord name Lordess Viea. Soon after that, many Jedi were falling to her side, including Master Kit Corwin Rendar. Soon, the Dark Lordess revealed herself to the Jedi Council as Adena Qel-Droma, which put the order in a tail spin and started the Great Territorial War.

[edit] The Grand Tournament

Lost in all the hardship the galaxy was facing, and amazing event was taking place. All the great fighters from around the galaxy were called in to take place in a tournament, one the likes of which had never been seen. Great warriors were entered, such as the evil Lord Ember, Boli Delish, the great Mandalore and even Dexon Kyjar himself. The tournament winded down until two combatants were finally remaining, Dexon and Mandalore.

The final match up was one for the ages, each combatant taking what should have been finishing blows, only to rise back up, unwilling to lose. Eventually, Dexon called up his strength and finished the great Mandalore with a devastating blow to the midsection which kept him down for the count. Dexon was declared the greatest fighter in the galaxy.

[edit] The Fall of a Legend

"You, my dear Dex, are the one who can have a hand in ending this war you so despise you hate yourself for helping it start, now, help end it... and end the fuedd inside yourself, let go of your thoughts, they do you no good. Your trials of blood, and pain have created a man of exceptional power, and wisdom, yet he is not allowed to use one or the other. He is not heard as he should be when he speaks, but I have listened before, and I still do....""
—Lord Viea, Adena Qel-Droma to Dexon Kyjar

During the Great Territorial War, Dexon and Bo made their way to the Sith's homebase, planning to attack Viea head on and force her hand to end the war. It was here that Viea coaxed the darkside out of Dexon, naming him Darth Brenos as he turned to the darkside. He then proceeded to torture Bo until he finally escaped to tell the new council what had taken place.

"Dex! Why don't you listen to me!?! Why can't you see the way you did before? Why are you going down this path when so much is at stake here?"
—Lara Jace-Kyjar to Darth Brenos

Later, as a Sith Lord, Brenos was on Yavin IV, where he coincidentally met up with his wife Lara. She couldn't believe what had happened to him and she had to see it for herself. She then informed him that she was pregnant with his child. Soon enough, Dexon was able to coax her over to the darkside, dawning her as Darth Erythia. She did not do much during the war except keep his child safe, making sure neither of them were killed.

[edit] The Final Battle

"So you believed it was your fate to betray your friends, murder countless innocents, and become one of the most feared people in the galaxy? Who looks up to you now, Brenos? Who do you know that would put their lives on the line for you? Lara? She follows you because she clings onto the man you used to be!"
—Boli Delish to Darth Brenos

It was thanks to Brenos that the war could continue on. He killed many great Jedi including Zistion, a promising Jedi Knight whom he had once trained himself. After leading his own partition of the Sith army against the Republic and Jedi forces, Brenos made his way to Vjun where his life would be changed yet again.

Brenos met up with his once best friend, Boli Delish. The two exchanged a heated conversation before engaging in combat, a fierce duel complete with Mancery powers. The acid rain pouring down on the two did not bother them in the least, they just wanted to kill the other.

At one point in the battle, Brenos had Boli down, cowering in the dirt, when all the sudden Boli's wife Alora jumped in from behind Brenos and began fending him off with her own powers over the force. After a short confrontation, Brenos sliced Alora in half just as Boli was regaining conciousness, which turned his once best friend into a lunatic, sending him into an incontrolable rage.

Brenos was now being bested, for the first time in his life. He was being forced back until he was pushed into a nearby crater. The crazed man then came charging at him, and Brenos could only summon up the rest of his strength and rid the darkness from his body in one final attack, repelling Boli for good and stopping the fight. Brenos had now returned back to Dexon. His final act on that planet was to put Boli back in his own ship, to preserve his life. He then got in his own ship and set off for Coruscant once again, wanting to speak with the council.

[edit] Rejection

"I do not believe that the darkness inside of you can be dissolved in one act alone, the whim of a heart can bring you to where you are now, only the focus of the mind can being you back to where you once were."
—Master Noren to Dexon

Dexon returned to the Jedi temple on Coruscant only to be greeted by some very angry people. Jedi were giving him angry looks and threatening him to leave before they forced him to. He managed to arrange a meeting with the council, attempting to be reinstated as a Jedi, even if it meant going through retraining. His request was denied, and he was forced to leave the Jedi for good.

[edit] A Child is Born

"The force has brought us back together for a reason, Lara. It wants us to be together, to take care of this boy as long as needed. Let go, and come back to me."
—Dexon Kyjar to Lara Jace-Kyjar

After leaving Coruscant, he managed to find his wife, Lara, still under the control of the Dark Side on the planet Yavin IV, again. He persuaded her to give up her ways, mere days before she would give birth to their child. They named him Yurin. For the next five years, the two lived together alone, raising their child in a small home they had constructed on Yavin IV. After Yurin had grown of age, they shipped him to Coruscant to begin his training as a Jedi. It seemed only fitting that two great Jedi would parent another one. Dexon and Lara lived together for another long while until they split apart, still in love, but needing to find something to do other than wait.

[edit] The Rogue Jedi

Finished with the Jedi and seemingly torn apart from Lara for the rest of their days, Dexon made his way across the galaxy, trying to teach people anything that he had knowledge of. It was on the war torn planet of Taris that he had his only real success, teaching a man named Jag-Si Kressh in the ways of Mancery, thinking that the Jedi teachings had failed him one too many times.

"If the Force had a mind of it's own, it would take us both at the same time, to save us the pain. We've had enough for a lifetime."
—Lara Jace-Kyjar to Dexon Kyjar

After he had finished with Jag-Si, Dexon miraculously reunited with Lara on a long forgotten planet in the outer rim. She had remained loyal to him as he had to her. The two constructed yet another house and stayed dormant in the outer rim for the rest of their lives, living peacefully together until their deaths. They died in eachother's arms, laying on the grass, gazing at the sky, as it was always meant to be.

[edit] Behind the Scenes

  • Dexon was roleplayed on TheStarWarsRPon the earlier site based on proboards. The site relocated to the aformentioned address to accomodate new members better. An archive to the original site can be found at that link
  • Dexon was the second character role played by Steve Young and to date was the most successful
  • Due to the popularity of this character, Arlon Kyjar was created.
  • Dexon's image was based on Quinlan Vos.
  • The role-played version of Dexon is what was first considered to be "canon" for his life. Brandon Rhea had to alter this for dramatic purposes for his novel: Shadows of the Jedi: The Legend of Ussej Padric Bac. Both stories are accepted as fanonically correct in the writer's mind.
  • An alternative story for Dexon is written here, with the same background, but a different ending.
