Death Star III was a superweapon created by the Second Imperium in 12 ABY, overseen by self proclaimed Empress and former Moff, Hirono Tavira. It was 1000 km], and it's super laser had a faster recharge time than either of the previous Death Stars.
The station was guarded by three Imperial-class Star Destroyers, the Imperator, Predator, and the Superior. It was destroyed by New Republic forces under Admiral Ackbar in the Battle of Death Star III.
